Palace Kitchen is an iconic Seattle bar and restaurant. It was a hangout for people in the “industry,” but as the restaurant staffers grew younger, their hangouts changed. Palace Kitchen has an old school vibe, and that’s perfect for me.The large bar beckoned on this cold Friday night, and we were greeted with warmth and a smile as we strolled to two seats. The staff at Palace Kitchen are professionals. They take cues from the clientele. If you want to engage, they’re willing to talk up a storm. If you want to be left alone, they will respect your space. As I said, “old school.” Pretension isn’t Palace Kitchen. The food at PK reminds me of supper club fare, so popular in my beloved Wisconsin. We shared a copious Caesar Salad, prepared in the traditional manner. I ordered the whole trout, filleted at the bar. This was the only discordant note of the evening. I always feel it wastes a server’s precious time to force them to fillet a fish in front of a patron. Let the kitchen do it! That’s just my opinion. The trout was humongous and delicious. Donna ordered their signature dish, fried turkey leg. She enjoyed it, but wondered why the kitchen crisps up the skin, only to pour gravy all over the leg, defeating the crispness. Next time, she’ll order the gravy on the side. Due to my loquacious nature, our bartender knew we were brand new residents of Seattle. The manager comped us two desserts as a welcome gift. How cool is that!I thoroughly enjoyed the Palace Kitchen, reflecting the true soul of the city of Seattle. The transience of the dot com invasion was left outside, to stew in its own antiseptic tonic. reflecting the true soul of the city of Seattle. After ordering take out the other night I was excited to dine in. It was absolutely amazing. Our server this evening was Lynda she was quick to get us water, but slow in every other aspect of the service. Her downtrodden attitude as she sauntered thru the restaurant was depleting the experience. We had to flag her down to our table after waiting several minutes to place our drink orders. She seemed offended when I said “We’re ready” when she asked how the burger was in a condescending tone. Knowing very well it wasn’t up to par. She got perturbed when she forgot to add the cheese to the plain cheeseburger. Then walks around the restaurant with our plate as if she’s been adorned with a task, minus bringing it back to the table. We watched her go to the host stand to talk about us to which her and the host were pointing, laughing and enjoying the poor service she’s been peddling. I enjoy going to restaurants where servers make a living wage, but non-motivated, lazy, sloppy servers riding on the coattails of employees actually doing their job; ruin the experience for everyone else. To watch as table after table have better service from workers who care and take pride in their work and themselves. What a disappointment...and a misrepresentation of the brand.

The atmosphere is classy but casual, with real music in the mix and eclectic art scattered throughout. The food was good, not amazing as hoped for the price. The drinks were stellar, but also very expensive. We got the fondu to split, a whiskey ginger, and a chartreuse something or other. The chartreuse something or other was phenomenal, one of the best mixed drinks I’ve ever had. I’d go back for an occasion, and trying something else on the food menu (a friend got the Brussel sprouts and they smelled amazing).

Its been years since Ive been, and its as wonderful as ever. This time it was about the signature cocktails. Depending on what your palate desires, everything from refreshing to complex, to complexly refreshing is available. Just know that depending on how many are in your party, its easy to drop over $100 4-5 drinks.

I LOVE this place!!! The food is great and they are always making changes on menu, so you have different options always! I come here really often ... one year or so 2/3 times per week ... so believe me! There are always good food and the big difference: service!!! The team are perfect! They are polite, respectful, funny, welcoming... I adore them! And I’m not being paid for the review! It’s a restaurant which I recommend for sure because you will enjoy the food, drinks and service! And the 20% is truly fair :)

This place was recommended to me by a friend. When we first walked in the place was packed. I was afraid there was gonna be a long wait but luckily we were able to snag a table. The food was amazing! And the portions were great! I got the clams which were on the appetizer side but the portion was big and the flavors were unbelievable. It filled me up but I wish I would have gotten another portion to have for later.I tried the lavender lemon drop off their cocktail menu. It was ok. I def preferred their local beers. Our server was amazing by answering any questions we had. But service was a little slow. It took 15 minutes to get a sprite.Overall I would go back again! The food was def worth it.

Husband and I came here for our anniversary. Loved the food, staff, and the atmosphere. When making a reservation, I was asked if I was celebrating anything special. Let her know it was for my anniversary. Once we arrived, the waiter provided us with complimentary glasses of champagne and congratulated us. It was a very special time with fantastic service and food!

Awesome spot to grab some delicious food and a great drink! The menu is full of unique items that make your mouth water. Service was great as well! They were closing a little early when we were there but they still let us sit and order. The server was amazing and our food came out quick. Highly recommend it!

Expensive but still tasty. $30 cheese plate is very small and is similar in size to an Alaska Airlines cheese plate. Cocktails were liked by our party, but if youre into spicy cocktails, there are none on the menu. The space is on the tight side, but it feels cozy rather than crowded. Service was excellent.

The menu might look a bit limited at first, but the food was delicious. Absolutely delicious. Be prepared to indulge in a dessert cocktail. Perhaps a touch loud, but I guess that just means all the guests were enjoying themselves. The seating was not so great, the benches were kind of hard. The lighting was dim which gave the place a more intimate feeling, but the larger tables and the bench seating detracted from that. Enjoy. Super nice staff too.

We needed a place to eat dinner after a day of traveling where we could take kids without reservations! We are glad we found Palace Kitchen! Everyone was so kind and accommodating! We tried many dishes and all were delicious! The kids ate ravioli and the green beans! I loved them too! Then we had Tomato Salads, Corn Bread, Halibut, the Lavender Fondue, and the wings. We loved everything!

This place was 5 stars from the moment we walked in until we left... our server was fantastic - attentive and very knowledgable about the menu! My wife and I shared 4 courses - great way to taste a bunch of items!1Cocktails - all top notch... PK Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and Rosemary lemon drop. Solid2Goat cheese fondue: we ordered on rec from our waiter and were not disappointed- cheese was warm and very smooth... perfectly balanced with the bread and fruit!3Gem Lettuce Salad: I would eat more salad in life if they all tasted like this. The combo of light dressing, goat cheese, and pickled rhubarb was perfect.4Ravioli (App): This may have been my favorite, also on rec from waiter... flavors were bursting!5Burger (with add bacon): outstanding flavor - meat was perfect and delicious fries on side.Sadly we ran out of time before our show at Paramount and couldnt order dessert. We WILL be back, next time with friends!

Really nice vibe. Excellent late night menu, without the feeling of being intimidated. The blonde waitress, I didnt get to ask for her name took great care of my party even gave us some of their artisan bread to try. Wings were great, the mussels were amazing. And the older Asian bartender can make really great drinks.

I went there for a work celebration dinner, and the food was excellent! The chopped kale salad was wonderful - especially the dressing! The Salish Sea Halibut with Tarragon Aioli was absolutely delicious! I also tried the Oven Roasted Cauliflower, and it was also very tasty. The atmosphere was nice as well. Our groups tables were arranged right in the front corner, which was basically all windows. My only complaint was that I never received the Goat Cheese-Lavender Fondue that I ordered. I was really looking forward to trying it!

Loved the view of the monorail and neon from this date-quality table last night. The infused Old Fashioned was exceptional, the Plin is always fantastic. My date enjoyed his pork but I was completely wowed by my Halibut! Unusually bold fish dish with pickled peppers providing a punch of color and flavor...I want it again right now. Service was above and beyond last night. She couldnt have been sweeter.

I gave them 2 stars because the food was good but not better then any other restaurant. Not sure why they charge so much. Ate here late because it was open. Service was ok. I had hoped for a better experience. Wish I would have gone somewere else.

Wow! We came here with a group of 6 after a movie and the staff went out of their way to make room for us. They were able to work around some of our allergens as well, which is always a bonus. Even though the food is pricy, it is absolutely worth it. The only thing I didnt love were the specialty drinks. They seemed a bit pricey for what you got. They were kind enough to replace it with a standard cocktail and not charge me. I was much happier with my replacement drink. The staff was amazing and so polite. I highly recommend this restaurant and will be coming back soon.

Came here for happy hour. The host didnt seem to be adept at what hes doing, since it took more than 5 minutes to find a seat when there were less than 10 people in the restaurant. When we got seated, the waitress was super disturbed since we moved the table a bit to give us more space. The food was mediocre & half cold. The mussels were not fresh, the sauce for the wings were too sour, steak was too done. Only highlight was the fries. Wouldnt come back.

Moderate. The music was loud and pounding. Thankfully we were seated in a quiet part of the restaurant. The chicken wing appetizer was substantial but quite spicy and there was no warning for this. Our server replaced with plain wings. My mushroom and mozzarella pasta was very tasty but the portion was oh so smallI let the server know this. I would have left hungry if not for the slices of bread she brought. Its a great menu and the service was great. I would return to try again.

1st time here was a great experience! It was a Friday and placed was busy, but we were seated to a table shortly after arrival. Our friendly server was helpful and kept checking on us. I was given two wines to taste before I could decide. That was nice! The trout was delicious, though mine looked smaller compared to the other trouts I saw from the photos. Fish was still tasty. They deboned the fish in front of you. Will come back soon to try other items!

Went to Palace Kitchen for apps and dessert. The menu looks great. We tried the goat cheese and lavender fondue, fried oysters, cauliflower, and 2 desserts. The fondue was ok, as were the oysters. We really enjoyed the cauliflower, and the chocolate cake was awesome. While people rave about the coconut cream pie, it didnt live up to the hype for me. There was way too much whipped cream and not enough custard. For around $10 for one dessert, it leaves something to be desired! Service was good at first but inattentive toward the end of our meal.

My fiance and I went out for a date night here. It wasnt our favorite restaurant. Reminded us of the Metropolitan Grill, "High prices, small portions and food I could cook at home for less that taste just the same." The portions were really small as you can see in the pictures. We ordered the calamari and the grilled chicken wings. The wings were different, they were the entire wing piece of the chicken and the calamari was good but there wasnt a lot of it. For dinner I had the Pork Loin which was tasted good but again not very filling. My Fiance had the burger which was cheaper than mine but had a lot more food with it. The atmosphere was cool and we had a good window seat but that was the highlight of the night. Oh and they charge a 20% service fee which is also taxed so keep that in mind. I think for the 2 appetizers, 2 meals and one drink the bill was around $110 including the service fee. Little high for what you get in my opinion.

Best cooked steak ever and I eat it cold. The sides where also great (mash and greens). Service was great and very intuitive. Would go every time Im in Seattle. And I went to Mortons the next week and it does not compare. I also ordered it to go and it was 30 mins before closing and they still cooked like it was the first one of the night. Thank You!

The food was good, generally large portions with the wings, burger and turkey leg were great. We had Stans Campanelle pasta that was really good but the portion size was small. The service was spotty with our waitress seeming to be stretched thin. The atmosphere was dark, but vibrant with the bar at the center and the grill in the back.

One of the most consistently great options downtown for a meal, imho. Service has been outstanding the three times Ive been here, but Ive had the same server each time so I cant comment on how things are more generally. The food is very well prepared, though the red meat (burgers, steak, etctends towards the red side, so order accordingly. Mixed drinks are expertly prepared, and the desserts are very, very good. Be warned, lots of nuts across the menu for those who are allergic, but theyre good about keeping them out if flagged.

Man....huge disappointment!!! I used to love this place. All it takes is one bad order and here it is. Horrible...HORRIBLE food. Take a look at the picture. Look I dont mind spending money on my food. But garbage....no thanks. Ordered Chicken and pasta to go. Got corn and pasta instead. The corn smelled so bad I had to throw it away. The pasta was overcooked, and when we called to complain they acted like giving us a refund was going above and beyond.....no thats minimum effort. I used to be a huge fan but Im feeling like service in downtown is slipping and ownership is failing. To you its just another order, to me and my girlfriend its a wasted opportunity to spend what little time we have together at home over a good meal. Wont risk that on Palace kitchen again. Thanks for the generous refund of my money paid while receiving things I didnt want. Next time Ill skip amateur hour and go to a real restaurant like Barolo. Joke of a place!

Outstanding food, service and atmosphere! My husband and I chose to go to Palace Kitchen for a romantic dinner this past weekend and loved our choice to go here. Nice decor, classy looking restaurant.Service was a little slow. When I got the bill I saw why, they add a 20 percent gratuity on automatically.I was in the industry and I was motivated to work and got bigger tips with hard work waiting on my clients.Automatic gratuities IMO let the staff float through their work and if the customer isnt happy, oh well, they got paid.Dont see anything in their menu that would be so motivating to come back...

Really great atmosphere. We went on a Saturday night around 7pm. Didn’t have to wait, we were sat immediately. Hostess was pleasant. We moved to the bar, it was more lively there. The bartender was great. I forgot his name. He had been there for years. Also gave me some great advice on where to go for the night. I had the chicken wings. Wasn’t a big fan, however my girlfriend had the roasted chicken and it was top shelf. Food isn’t cheap but not over the top either. They offer unlimited pistachios at the bar! So fill up on that. Drink menu decent! Go here!

The service was very friendly and welcoming. I ordered the burger because it was marketed as one of their specialties. My overall impression was that, maybe a long time ago this was a good burger, but its fallen behind what other similar places have to offer. The quality of the meat was good, but I thought it was not grilled or cooked properly, no flavor.

My sister and I really enjoyed this place, we both agreed it would be a place wed come to drink even on our own. She loved her salad and I had one of the best burgers of my life I added Swiss cheese and bacon (also the best). The music was really good too, they didnt keep playing current hits like most places do. Only thing is we wished they had pizza or atleast flat breads or a few more menu items.

Amazing service! The water was never empty at our table. The entree selection was a little small but there were plenty of appetizers on the menu. The cheese plate was something unique to experience. The beer was a little pricey but what would you expect being smack dab in the center of downtown. Atmosphere was great, windows open to the street let in a nice breeze. Cheese cake was some of the best I have had. Extremely moist and fresh. Topped with a nice orange and special cheeses.

This is probably one of the worst diner experiences we had ever had in Seattle. Our order was quite simple: two burgers, sodas and for dessert chocolate crepes. The burgers, besides the poor presentation (a burger next to unappetizing bulk fries and two small metal containers, were as dry as wood and flavorless. The service, which costs you 20% of your bill, good or bad, is bad and goes to the bare bones. Honestly our expectations were high being a Tommy Douglas restaurant. For $85.00 we could have a way better meal somewhere else. Wont come back ever.
