Description
Hidden away on the main Street. Very clean, modern and professional service.Valet parking was an added bonus as thats a big hassle taken care of. Rooms were very clean, rooftop bar was lovely. Staff were fantastic who would had the car ready by the time we finished brekkie. There is a street directly behind here where you will find some of the best bars. Location is absolutely spot on.
MoreWe had a lovely time at the roof top bar. Still seems to be a top secret spot, because we were almost by ourselves and had a table all alone. We paid 10€ for 2 Campari, the snacks were free. Coperto on top of course. It’s the best place to have a little rest in silence with a phenomenal view at Etna
MoreGot here over 2 hours early. They could see I was in pain and we both needed showers and a rest after flying from Australia! No sooner had we entered the lobby someone was offering to help us with our bags and suitcases. When we pulled out our passports to confirm our reservation they took the keys to our rental car and valet parked it for us so we could come straight up to our room and shower even though (as I saidwe were over 2 hours early for check in! Been here 45 minutes and Im in love. The rooms are huge and they reserved a table for us at 1pm on the roof top so I can watch my mount Etna with a cocktail (I told them the whole reason we had come from Australia was because I have been obsessed with Etna since I was 5).
MoreFirstly , the positive. The rooftop bar is fantastic. We had breakfast there and the women on duty was the perfect example of how good customer care skills can make or break an experience. Thank you. The hotels location is good. This was a preliminary review based on arriving early and checking in and I hoped to increase from 3 to more stars later. However despite this being a beautiful hotel it’s probably the least helpful I’ve been in for a long time. I do want the hotel to know that despite booking their best suite - the customer service was pretty underwhelming. We arrived early , not expecting to be able to go to room, but leave luggage, charge phones etc before going out for a walk around. No help, no offer of a glass of water or anywhere to even buy a coffee if we wanted one. Just ignored really Even after coming back after three hours there was still confusion. To be fair We were taken to top floor for a welcome drink which was nice but then left in rooftop bar where the staff serving didn’t know we were there for welcome drink so left to us to find out what this meant. It may seem petty to some, but we expect to get what we paid for - no more no less. The problem with this hotel is that nobody seems clear what that it - so we made to constantly ask questions that the staff seem unable to answer. For example the mini bar has no prices - do we assume it’s included in the hospitality tray we were meant to have? Still noIdea what this is! We will never know. It can’t be too much to expect that the gym has the basics - cups for water , towels and exercise mats - but no / I have to go to reception and ask and then nothing happens. Eventually I see someone near gym and ask again - and finally get a cup to drink some water ( after my workoutand that they do have exercise mats locked away - very helpful! We are in I think the most expensive room in the hotel which is nice - but completely spoilt by a totalAbsence of customer care. I very very rarely give bad reviews - but I honestly can’t think of anything positive to say so far. Breakfast did raise my spirits and left me feeling more positive about the hotel. However having paid over €400 for our room and just getting a bottle of still water as a form of hospitality, I sadly won’t be coming back!
MoreLovely roof terrace with great views of Etna. Recommended.
I wouldnt recommend staying here unless you want to have a constant headache. This hotel is dishonest and careless. I stayed here on business and the front desk clerk charged the wrong card for the stay. For two months, Ive been attempting to have this resolved to no avail. The manager keeps giving me the runaround about him e-mailing Nexi and he doesnt know why its taking so long. He told me months ago that this would be resolved by September 1st. The interesting thing is that he asked me to cancel my credit card dispute because he couldnt refund my money, which was a lie. Also, be mindful about your rental car. Upon checkout, I requested my car, only to be told that it was gone. I had to scramble around, file a police report, because the police said that itd been stolen. However, the next day, the front desk called to tell me that the car was given to the wrong guest. Apparently, we had similar color vehicles. As I stated earlier, they dont pay attention because, if she had charged the correct card, none of this wouldve happened in the first place. Scammers
MoreLove this hotel. Excellent restaurant. Customer service
The best view of Mt. Etna you can get from a rooftop restaurant. Food, drinks and service is top notch but very expensive on a Sicilian scale as this place is mostly for tourists. Locals tend not to go there unless for special occasions.
MoreWe have just had a lovely week in this hotel with jet2 city Breaks, the hotel is so lovely and central to to the city lots to do and see .The hotel staff where all lovely and very helpful, and a special thank you to Rita m on the reception desk for all her help with booking a trip for us and being so helpful.Great hotel will definitely be going back.
MoreWe enjoyed our stay at this solidly 4-star Hotel. Its located on a pedestrian (mostlystreet in Catania. We booked the Suite, and it was two floors with the living area below and the sleeping area above. The room was clean, and the 1/2 bathroom downstairs was a pleasant surprise. The rooftop restaurant was mediocre, but the breakfast was good—plenty of dining alternatives close by. The front desk staff was pleasant and helpful. The cleaning staff was superb and grateful for the gratuity. Worth the money if you are on holiday.
MorePremium rooms large, overlooking via Etnea, the main shopping str of Catania. Clean. Some issues with air-condition quickly sorted by courteous front desk. Breakfast on roof terrace with lovely views of Mount Etna. Nice selection especially sweets..cannoli, granita and brioche and much more.
MoreHotel is beautiful and staff is great. It is in a prime location and rooftop restaurant with great view. Not really “luxury” in my opinion… building is older, had ants in my room every night. King bed is just 2 twin size mattresses put together. A few pieces of NEW clothing now ruined after being laundered by hotel. No irons were available most times I asked and I was there on business. I have stayed at better quality hotels for less $.
MoreGood :- Wonderful stay. Very spacious and clean room.- Safe neighbourhood area- Big compliments for the 2 ladies at the breakfast. Fresh and wide variety of choice.- We booked with rooftop breakfast , definitely worth it. Beautiful view.Bad :- Little fridge is so small and fully filled that there is no space for your own drinks etc.- Cleaning person only cleans the room at the surfaces but doesn’t refill or change the stuff in the room empty or used ( water / room slippers / change towels )- Room with view we booked is facing street crowd. All rooms with view are facing the street. Balcony not clean. Not worth the money.- Reception very chaotic. At checkout it took more than 20-30min. They should have a separate counter for those who’ve only questions. Would be better to regulate those who’d like to check-in or -out.
MoreWonderful hotel property- great location, excellent breakfast, quiet rooms-not overly spacious a little on the smaller side, but high ceilings and beautifully updated bathrooms a nice rooftop bar restaurant and also convenient to all the shopping and historic sites of Catania.
MoreVery nice, clean hotel with helpful staff. Good standard of rooms and buffet breakfast is decent.
MoreWe had a reservation for three rooms, but due to a delayed flight one of the rooms was not filled. When we informed the reception, they kindly told us that they wouldn’t be able to refund us the room but would give us the credit to use in their restaurant. Thought it was a very nice gesture and the restaurant was definitely worth it too.
MoreLocation is excellent as it’s in Via Etnea main shopping area. There is Availability of valet parking which is good if you have a car. The room was very comfortable and clean.Service was not attentive and prompt enough which is the reason for a 3 star rating
MorePerfect location. Well appointed rooms. Great staff.
Central location on Via Etnea. Rooms are cute and spacious. Service is ok. Breakfast is nice but variety is limited
MoreEnjoyed the hotel for 2 nights! the room was a bit small, hotel provided amenities such as fluffy bathrope, espresso machine and slippers..Selection of breakfast is great. Depending on your package, to have BF at the roof top theres an additional charge of 10 euro itch for the view. Most importantly despite the location downtown, the room was very quiet which allows you to have maximum rest.
MoreWe truly enjoyed our one night stay at the Palace! Check in was efficient and our room was ready at the scheduled time. The room was very well appropriated and lacked for nothing. The corridors have a wonderful smell too! We had a wonderful dinner at the rooftop terrace with special thanks to Jeancarlo! This restaurant is a must not only for the food but the view!! Amazing! Breakfast was excellent too. Nothing missing here either! Our only challenge was the gentleman working the night shift at the front desk who was not overly friendly (hey, we get it, it is a tough shift!but being pleasant would go a long way! Overall excellent!!
MoreGreat place with an amazing service. It is necessary to mention Virgilio from the reception desk that went beyond and above to provide exceptional service and hospitality.
More4 day stay here, right in the heart of the city. Beautiful hotel with good rooms, breakfast in either the dining room or roof terrace was very good. Staff very helpful attentive. Would definitely stay here again
MoreDefinitely quality not corresponding with value. Good location but.... Old, small rooms, almost antique bathroom and very average breakfast. On plus - very nice and friendly staff on the reception.
MoreReally enjoyed our stay here. Staff on desk were very helpful and welcoming. Location of the hotel is brilliant and rooftop bar has amazing views. Directly opposite hotel is a side street with a brilliant restaurant at the end as well.
MoreInadmissible !The hotel is located in a zona traffico limito.Be aware that if you drive under this street just to let your car in their parking it will cost you 100€ when you will get home !For a place which calls himself a palace I find it litteraly inadmissible to not aware his clients ! Be sure next time we will return in Catania I rather choose another hotel and pay 100€ in a good restaurant !
MoreA very centrally located Hotel with nice breakfast Menu. Rooms are nice and clean, spectacular is the view from the rooftop terrace. Recommendable!
MoreMy husband and I took a two week enchanting visit to Sicily last summer from the U.S. We stayed at the Palace Catania, and it was the perfect place to stay, for exploring and enjoying the south of Sicily. The hotel was absolutely wonderful, and a delight to come home to each evening.
MoreComfortable located smart accommodation on main road in historic centre of Catania, with gym and spa facilities. Restaurant upstairs on top floor with great view on Etna and beautiful lobby downstairs with reception desk.
MoreWorn down building with broken A/C system.Rock hard beds.Thank you for your reply but I highly doubt youve replaced the beds and fixed the A/C Problem. As for talking to the front desk, I spoke with them on more than one occasion and the issue was never resolved. They actually said I should open the door so i can get cool air in the room. Several of my coworkers had the same experience. FYI I stayed with you the year before and I had to change rooms three times before the room A/C worked. Now I must say the staff was always courteous and the breakfast was great and the location is excellent as well.
MoreLets start with the room temperature. We visited mid Nov and our room was only set to heat. Contacted the front desk about this and was told it would be taken care of. It was not, too hot to even sleep. Second night we talked to the front desk at ~8pm, they said its it wasnt cooler by 11pm to let them know. Room didnt cool down. Couldnt open the windows due to scaffolding outside and the safety risk. That night we were also bombarded and bitten by bugs. Not bed bugs. We woke up with bites all over us on top of the ungodly heat. I asked for a refund for both nights, they offered a 15% discount, and relayed that I should have asked for a different room. Not until I told them I planned to write corporate and leave reviews did the conversation start going somewhere. I also showed pictures of the bugs, welts on our skin, and what looked like a crime scene from us trying to kill bugs all night. They ended up comping one night and our parking. Which leads to to my last point. The keys to our rental car were lost for over an hour while the valet and reception desk frantically searched. This hotel was the worst I experienced in Italy, hands down. I generally dont review places unless I have an exceptional experience, but if I can save one person from the stress, anxiety, and bug wounds we experienced this post will be worth it. Please see photos.
MoreThe light switches in the room next to the bed did not work and the warm water in the sink did not work. We were also served rotten salad for breakfast. But what really ruined our stay was the arrival and the horrible customer service ignoring one verbal request and two written emails to cancel our second stay after the bad experience of the first. NO ANSWER to me or to the booking staff.Unfortunately our first night did not go the way we planned. We could not reach the hotel via car due to road blocks. We called the hotel multiple times to ask for help but noone picked up. This took about 1 hour and was really stressful. Since nobody picked up, we had to park somewhere else and I had to run through the rain to get help in person. At the hotel, the front desk was friendly but couldnot help and made me wait 15 minutes. They tried to contact the valley guy but he also did not pick up. Once he showed up, he was upset and seemed angry. It took another 10 mins to actually convince him to help us which was done by the nice lady from the front desk.
MoreThis hotel was great, with one small problem, the air-conditioned in the room was regulated by the hotel.. I need a cold room to sleep,, so I had to call the front desk and request that the temperature be lowered. My room was small but spacious enough for two. They provided you with bathrobes and sleepers. Because of the pandemic, the breakfast buffet was not available, instead, you asked the staff for the items you wanted, some were given to you while in line, others were delivered to your table. The bed and the pillows were acceptable. The roof bar and restaurant was excellent, with a great view of the City a d even see the 🌋 if erupting at night. Lots of emphasis on wearing masks while in the premise. I recommend this hotel.
MoreThis is a very good hotel. Really recommend it. Customer service is excellent. Room was very high standard. In fact, I booked it again before leaving so that says it all. Located on the high st. Right behind is a street of restaurants and bars. I am on a budget so the amazing roof top bar which charges 8 for a beer was visited just once by me. But it is really high class. It opens at 8, too late for me to eat. But that’s my preference. The breakfast was the best around. Gym was basic but very clean and functional.
Moregreat check in - very smooth, they parked our car which was much appreciated and the room was fabulous with a tub, nice amenities, comfy bed, and complimentary water. highly recommend staying here! view from the rooftop restaurant is so worth it too!!
MoreVery nice hotel, staff were polite and very accommodating. The location was perfect and the view from the balcony nice. Our booking enabled us to have breakfast on the roof which was wonderful. Would be nice to visit again in the middle of summer.
MoreGood hotel in the city centre. The localisation is perfect if you wish to be close to the restaurants, shops etc. 15 minutes walk to the Train station and Bus station. Quite close to the airport by taxi 10 minutes. You can also take a bus in front of the hotel. The hotel itself looks good but some facilities require a repair or refreshing, like bathroom. The room was clean, air conditioner worked good, the wifi was more or less ok but sometimes I had no connection. The service was ok. Breakfast was a little bit disappointing for me, not very diverse. But the ladies are very nice there. Overall the hotel is good for a short stay.
MoreVery friendly, helpful and professional staff, nicely decorated room and lobby, good breakfast selection. Great location in a nice and quiet area of Central Catania. There was a fault in the toilet box in our room, so the toilet water kept constantly being loudly refilled unnecessarily during the day and night. Some of the bed sheets and towels in our room had stains on them.
MoreThe staff was amazing, Rita at the reception provided us extensive and useful info about the city. The breakfast were great and Bita the waiter was really kind. Beautiful location and wonderful atmosphere
MoreGreat hotel. Amazing views from rooftop bar. Clean spacious rooms. Greta breakfast buffet. Room was warm and could only cool it down by opening then balcony door. Bed was a bit hard but i didn’t mind it and I slept great! Right in the middle of town and super easy to walk anywhere especially the street upon street of amazing restaurants. Lots of shopping on same street. Just feet away from weekend markets. Valet parking available. (If you’ve never been to catania I do not recommend driving here, it is out of control and you will end up getting vehicle damage, get a taxi)
MoreGreat view of Mt Etna, great room. I had 2 balconies. Room was very clean. GREAT location. Felt safe. Wish the front desk had been a bit more informative. I was given very little information at check in. But I still recommend, just be more inquisitive than I was.
More"Recently" renovated, clean, well kept hotel in the heart of Catania. The rooms are clean, comfortable with comfortable beds. The bathrooms are ok. Showing age and black mould marks in the shower stall -- badly needing bleach treatment and cleaning. The breakfast was good. But they start at 7 am, which is late by my standard. There is no tea/ coffee facility in the room. Room service does not start before 7 AM and there is a €10 service charge. The terrace is nice with a good view of the Etna. But the bar and food are very expensive. I recommend that you take a look at the many restaurants just behind the hotel.
MoreThis hotel is conveniently located to many restaurants and shops. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Valet parking is available. Just park out front and hand your keys over at the front desk. Well appointed rooms. Great view from the restaurant/bar. Bed was very firm but still comfortable. Nice selection of cold cuts, eggs, bacon, juices and sweets for breakfast. Overall a great a stay.
MoreThe room so clean and beautiful, the breakfast amazing the girls that they working there so helpful and nice. So nice hotel so big the gym room I was expecting a little bit more space and the turkish bath perfectly for couples. The rooftop hurt breaking. Thank you very much. You know the place to go for good hospitality!!
MoreHotel UNAWe stayed in this hotel in August 2018 in room 316. The hotel can be reached by bus from the airport, about a 20 minute drive. The room was decent size for 2 people. The bathroom was medium size. The room had a balcony door which can be opened to allow fresh air, but no actual balcony. The balcony door allowed a good amount of sunlight in the room. Bed was comfortable. The gym is basic. There is a steam room available in the hotel. There is a rooftop restaurant and a small sun terrace location. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel is located about 15 minute walk from the bus station which can take you to other parts of Sicily. 6 out of 10.
MoreBeautiful place, staff it’s really kind and friendly, the rooms are very comfortable (but we didn’t like that there where no amenities we had the number and request for all things we needed like soap, conditioner.. personally I really like the style of the hotel, the breakfast it’s okay very complete. The breakfast in the terrace it’s totally worth it! It has delicious Sicilian dishes, the Arancini are amazing. The service very very slow (they apologize several times due to few staff). In overall we are very very satisfy with the experience ! If we come back to Catania we will come back for sure.
MoreGreat hotel, great service and the selection of pillows was great. The roof top restaurant and cafe was very good and the service impeccable. The morning breakfast was great as well. Lots to choose from. Parking was easy since we had a large van and they parked it for us. Highly recommend it.Mike Baldwin
MoreThe hotel is conveniently located 2 min from the Plaza. They upgraded us to their loft suite which is so cute! The terrace restaurant is so amazing! We paid a little for the upgraded breakfast experience on their rooftop terrace... Worth every penny! Gorgeous central view of Mount Etna. We came back for drinks at the sunset! Such an amazing experience! Catania, we will miss you!
MoreGreat hotel. Stayed a couple of night and everything was fine. Large room, comfortable bed. Bathroom could use a bit more renovation. But everything was clean otherwise.Free breakfast is great with many options. Staff is friendly and helpful.Roof top is great with a nice view.Only bad point is WiFi connection which is very limited (cant do anything except Web browsingand very slow. Dont count on it for working.
MoreUNA hotel is a very nice place. It is listed as a 4 star hotel. The room wasnt the cleanest, but the staff at check-in was phenomenal. They speak English well, and gave lots of information about the hotel and the area. The really nice thing about this hotel is that it is right on the main tourist street, so everything is there and easy to walk to. The rooftop restaurant has amazing views.
