Thai curries, noodles & other classics in a cozy, lavender-painted space with sidewalk seating.
The food is bland and the staff is not welcoming at all
Best Pad Thai in New Haven. Cheap prizes and fast service. My go-to restaurant
Fried rice was amazing! Server was very attentive to our dietary restrictions. Wish there was a veg hot and sour soup, otherwise great selection!
Real score 4.0Great value! Hot and spur soup was good. I had chicken laab salad. I needed more spice, Cabbage, mint and a lime to make it great. The portion size good. These according to my preferences.
Visited this restaurant today as one my friend was in town and we wanted to go down the memory lane as this used be our spot for best Thai food in town and were so disappointed as it lost its charm completely.Ordered hot and sour soup, coconut soup with a few Appetizers like gyoza and spring rolls.. for entrée- we took green curry. It just felt like the soup has been watered down...with a huge tomotoes chopped in 2 halves and big chunks of vegetables with one piece of chicken and the green curry was beyond saving. The food lacked taste and felt like sipping water with curry paste stirred in it. We left the soups and entrée untouched. We left the restaurant diappointed never stepping in again. Wish I had taken pictures to upload. Its saddens my heart to see such a great restaurant serve food like this. Never stepping here again.
LOVE! Got the sizzling shrimp and vegetable fried rice. Absolutely delicious. Very nice staff.
service was not great and the food was just average
This is definitely not the same place and for sure not the same cooks. The taste sucks and as I was eating, I noticed two strands of HAIR in my food. Im so disgusted and they need to just close this place.
didnt expect such solid thai food in new haven Connecticut. fast service and the drinks are also very cheap here!
Decent Thai fair. Stick with the classics, seafood was just ok.
We walked in at maybe 6:30 PM on a Saturday night and almost left because the restaurant was completely empty- never a good sign on a weekend night during peak dinner hours. The menu isn’t extensive- some of my favorites like Khao Soi and pad kra pow weren’t there. We ordered Mai Thai, Pad Thai, and Hot Basil with pork and the food came out incredibly fast. We were surprised at how good the food was. The portions were not generous - maybe four small pieces of chicken and three small strips of tofu in the Pad Thai- but the quality was there. They have solid Thai staples and clearly have a pretty busy takeout business. If I lived in New Haven I’d likely get takeout from here every once in awhile.
Did not get the order correct and my partners food came out 20 minutes after mine. There was no chicken in the pad thai and I ordered Pork fried rice and got chicken... flavor was OK, ice in water is old.
The restaurant seems to have new staff since COVID and the food does not taste the same. I ordered spicy noodle and it is definitely made differently and by different staff. Highly disappointing.
Terrible soup! Yesterday (sat. 5/22ordered Sweet and Sour soup with chicken, take out. For $4.75 got a cup of tasteless brown water with a few chunks of raw ordinary white mushrooms, 2 chunks of tomato, a few bits of chicken. That is it. Disgusting, the worst "soup" ever. Insulting that a restaurant would cheat that way. Avoid.
I had a terrible experience with this restaurant today. I ordered food on Grubhub and they got the order wrong. When I called them and asked if I should return the food and they said no but when I got to the restaurant the man insisted that I bring back the food that they gave me so I had to walk back home in below freezing weather get the food and come back. When I got back he took the food from me to the back and I have a suspicion that they might have used the same food I brought back and recooked it with the protein I wanted because I had to wait several minutes for the man who went back in the kitchen and came back with a “new” dish that was poorly made and tasted terrible.
We went yesterday they only had a take out menu , the dine in menu had soft shelled crab they had it on the menu sone crab dish but not the same dish. So we ordered the crab dish white rice chicken on a stick and my wife a kind of soup dish. After I plopped my crab dish on the plate I knew I would not be eating this , the meal had some sort of like hard jelly on it our cat would not even eat it . Our sons chicken on a stick was eatable but not my wifes rice or soup the shrimp was so tiny . The rice was lumpy and could not be eaten . The Thai man the cahier provoked my wife about her see through facemask so she defended herself saying your the first one to complain about my mask . The bill was 39.77 I will never go there again I wanted to dine at seoul restaurant around the corner but they were closed
Food is great. Dessert is wonderful, they only serve one per day, Sticky rice with mango! Price is reasonable. Servers are attentive. Sometimes it gets busy. The best thing in the winter is their double door...you do not get hit with a draft of fresh cold air.
The vegetarian Thai soup was full of individual flavors. Lots of fresh ginger. The meal temperature was hot so you know each meal is made to order. Great place for family, friends and small special gatherings.
I have been going here for years! Id say this is one of the best Thai places in CT. Its light, tasty and authentic. Extremely consistent and great service. Nat and her uncle are so sweet and helpful!
Great Thai food in a pleasant and cozy area of downtown New Haven. Great staff. Quick service. Wonderful menu selection with a very affordable lunch menu which appeals to the Yale student population as well. I now live out if state. However, this is a definite stop everyone I am in CT
We stopped in the city to have lunch and liked the food and service. I got a lunch menu where you can choose soup, entree and side, which were really good.
Pretty good padthai and curry. The prices arent so bad either!
Tonight was my first time at Tarry Lodge and not only will I be back, but I will definitely tell my friends about it. I had family visiting from out of town for a graduation celebration. I selected Tarry Lodge for its convenient location to other New Haven landmarks. By the time dinner was over, everyone in our group was well fed, happy and raving about returning.
One of the more affordable Asian restaurants in New Haven. The food was ok if not particularly Thai. Then again, options are limited in New Haven.
What a wonderful restaurant! Close to the Yale museums and The Study, it offers great Thai cuisine. We were greeted at the door and immediately shown to a table. Our orders were taken and the food arrived very quickly. Both the service and food were very good.
Theyve recently updated their menus, so drunken noodles protein is now chicken unless you go vegetarian. The dish comes out steaming hot from the wok. Its topped with carrots, onions, eggs, basil, and tomatoes, and the rice noodles are flat, chewy, and subtly sweet and spicy. The tom yum soup is also one of my favorites.
Definitely a local gem. A great place to take a date without breaking the bank or sacraficing atmosphere, great for take out, just plain great.Love their pineapple fried rice and pad thai
Then going there for 21 years Kim is the owner very hard-working family their food is always been an excellent. Authentic Thai food.
I used to enjoy this place. Food does not taste the same. Chicken is dry, about 4 pieces of small chicken breats cut in strips, in drunken noodles. Noodles to oily to finish.
I ordered Drunken Noodle with chicken and shrimp and Thai Fried Rice with shrimp. My total was about $22, so $11 each. The fried rice literally had 3 shrimp and the drunken noodle I had to search for chicken and shrimp. You are essentially paying for noodles and rice. Not going back. Also, the food was just ok. Not nearly as good as the one across the street that closed.
Pad Thai has really good food. The place has changed since Ive last gone there, however the food is still good. If you like spicy food try the spicy noodles with chicken.
Excellent thailandese food at a very decent price! Plus the waitress is very nice. One of our favorite restaurants in New Haven. I recommend the coconut and the spicy noodle.
First time with Thai food in CT !! Very impressed with foods !! Dry Sukiyaki , Padthai, and Wild Boar Basil was tasty ( if you are not fan of spicy you can make it to be mild !! You should try !!
I used to love this restaurant. The food was not the same. It was bland even after I asked for extra spicy. The home made taste and carefully prepared dishes were gone. I noticed less competition in the neighborhood than there used to be and maybe thats a factor.
I love their food and the waitress is always so sweet! Ive been coming here for years and years. Definitely my favorite Thai restaurant!
Good lunch specials. Not particularly authentic, but as I dont like scalding heat or lime leaves its perfect for me.
This place gets 4 stars from me because the people that work here are very calm and friendly like everytime . Ive tried a few things, not all were great, however their drunken noodles were the best thing Ive ever tasted. The environment is classy and comfortable. They have outside seating as well. I would definitely go back, just understand that some dishes are for an acquired taste.
The food is good, the service, not so much. I called for delivery and they said an hour... Okay, I wasnt starving so I decided I would wait, no big deal... An hour and a half later; nothing. I call and Im told the delivery guy is just leaving and has other deliveries along the way as well. An hour and 50 minutes later I get a call telling me my food is outside, the gentlemen can barely speak English mind you. I go outside and no one is there, I call back and the delivery guy is at the wrong address. With the language barrier, Im having a hard time communicating the address hes supposed to be delivering too. When I get off the call, Im wondering whether Ill even be getting my food and if its not going to get delivered to a different person at this time. 10 minutes later, I get a call and go outside to get my food, the gentlemen tells me it was because he wasnt using his GPS and went to the wrong address. Now Im an understanding person... maybe, trust but verify... But what moron in their right mind in this decade decides against using a GPS when it is a mere app on our phones not to mention when the delivery is already extremely late? There are certain things which are tolerable, this one is simply just ridiculous. To top it off, the freaking store is only 10 minutes away, I might as well have just sacrificed the time and driven down there and gotten my food because clearly their delivery service is the worst possible one. The food was delicious however, so my advice, its okay to go there to get food, just dont order delivery.
The place is basically a typical Thai place. Service was attentive but not overly friendly. Food was fine, but nothing to write home about. Ambience-wise, its a typical Thai restaurant with a small decor budget. The menu does have a few unusual things. I have no complaints other than that the green tea was weak, but on the other hand I wouldnt go out of my way to dine there.
Small place but the wait is well worth it hands down the best Thai food! Service is axing and the food is to die for if I didnt live an hour away from here I would definitely be an everyday costumer I have been experimenting with trying something different everytime I come here and everything has been phenomenal my favorite is the salmon mango with the curry sososo gooood. Definitely recommend it to anyone who wants authentic thai food
The single best Thai restaurant in town
Ordered chicken pad thai, coconut shrimp and a duck dish. Couldnt taste a hint of coconut on the shrimp. Pad thai was without chopped peanuts, had little flavor and the chicken was tough, dry and tasteless. Duck was okay but not worth $16.
The service was very kind, and the food was super tasty try the vegetarian options. Price was Okedoke. Over all fun and quiet experience:)
I drive over a half hour to New Haven JUST to eat at this restaurant. The food is always good! I love that its a small but cute and comfortable place. I have never experienced bad service in the 8+ times Ive gone. I have never used their delivery option (as I am too far awayso I can not speak to that.
Food is tasty... Can be very spicy if youre into that (great for me!). Small portions compared to others in area.
We ordered from Pad Thai this evening. Whoever was cooking never actually had Thai food before. Ordered 5 items, 5 items in the garbage. It was poorly prepared, had the wrong ingredients and was inedible. The rice was probably okay but there was nothing worth eating with it. We threw that away too.Shame on you.Pete
1I made an order for pick up; got the wrong item (my fault for not checking it while there)2A lady (same one I ordered withsaid it was her fault and forgot and apologized3was not able to re mediate the sitch because they close for 2 hours between 3pm and 5pm4my item; drunken noodle was "ok" and the chicken panang was .... sub "ok"Hope fully you have a better experience!
Dont know why people have said the service is bad. I always go after 8pm and the same woman and gentleman that are there are very good. The food is not bad at all...I love the Sarachi rice. Good flavor. The rest of the menu seems fine. The prices are not the cheapest...some items are a few bucks more than other places but at least the portions are decent. That may be my only complaint.
Great food. My family takes me to this place ALL THE TIME, THOUGH. Aside from that, all the food is great (and authentic), the service is amazing, and the waiters are really nice! This is the place to go for Thai food in Connecticut.
My first experience with Thai food and it was great . I go there every chance I get the mussels appetizer is great and the also spicey green sauce that comes with it is so very good
