Pacifica Restaurant - Restaurant in Napier, New Zealand
This is by far the best restaurant experience we have had in a long time. We had the seafood degustation. Each course was amazing. There were intricate layers of delightful flavours throughout each dish. We went the matching wines and the presentation was exceptional with each dish accompanied by a beautiful NZ wine. The dish and wine were explained very well by the exceptional staff. You will be forever disappointed if you go to Napier and dont eat at Pacifica!
We spent a while trying to decide which adjective best describes our meal at Pacifica tonight. In the end , we decided on ‘Genuine’. The food tells a story and is all incredibly genuine. Amazing flavours and perfect wine pairings that didn’t just compliment the dishes but elevated and transformed them. Compliments to the whole team on their vision and professionalism.
Beautiful food and great service, well done to your team
We travelled from Auckland for this Restaurant as we had heard so much about it.Everything was superb, the Service, the wait time, and then the Food and Wine Matching were equal to anything we have tried in the top restaurants in Auckland, in Queenstown, Wellington, and Sydney and Melbourne. It was a genuine pleasure to dine here.Thankyou Jeremy, Natalie and Arlene
Not all courses were created equal but overall very enjoyable food. Staff were great and atmosphere lovely.
The seafood degustation with wine match is exceptional. Jeremy has managed to take uniquely kiwi flavors from our childhood and elevate them to exceptionally fine dining. The paua in particular was incredible. It is in the higher price point, but your tastebuds will thank you! Highly recommend to locals and visitors alike. Will definitely be back.
Thoroughly enjoyed every dish. Will definitely return!
A truly incredible fine dining experience! We were fortunate to grab a last minute booking when visiting Napier from Australia and had the seafood degustation with wine pairing. My husband and mother in law delighted in seeing their kiwi favourites transformed into art through the chefs magic, such as fry bread, creamed paua, rhubarb and white chocolate. The staff were lovely and the wine pairings were explained beautifully. Thanks for a fantastic evening and a highlight of our trip!
Service was excellent. The food had interesting flavours and was very well presented.
More hype than substance. The service was great, but portions in the 5 course seafood degustation were tiny, with mostly foam or small amounts of soup and little to fill you. Like many other reviewers have stated, we also left hungry and had to eat again elsewhere.A couple of the (tinydishes were nice, however, some were very disappointing - like a glorified half onion in wine sauce!.If youre planning to have the degustation menu, think of it as a 5 course entree and plan to have a proper meal somewhere afterwards.
If I had to eat baked beans and toast for the rest of my life, that would be okay, because Ive just had the best dinner Ive ever had in my 59 years. Seriously wow!
Cant wait to return, food was fabulous, service was exceptional. A fine dining experience without pretention; must do experience!
What a treat!I loved everything about Pacifica: the atmosphere was relaxed; the staff were welcoming, hugely knowledgeable and passionate; both menus were surprising and delicious with amazing pairings to elevate them further.I couldnt recommend the experience enough!
$75 seafood degustation was tasty but underwhelming and disappointing. I left hungry because every course was small and liquified, incl the dessert. If it wasn’t a small blot of purée with something on top, it was a seafood flavoured broth with smallest pieces of squid and chopped mussels served with an ice cream Sunday spoon. Won’t be going back. At the table we discussed this with staff and asked for appropriate cutlery. Importantly, table service was very pleasant. Since relaying this to others, several said they had the same experience so clearly this wasn’t an anomaly.
If you like seafood and you are in Napier. Do yourself a favour and book a table here. The meals are divine and they are beautifully presented. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.
When food is done right. Its perfect, and tonight was PERFECT.Ive been to Napier a few times and I was recommended by many of my foodie friends to try Pacifica, thankfully, my bestie managed to get us a early booking for a table of four. We arrived on time to be greeted with sparkly eyes (as the wait staff were all maskedwe were swept away to a cosy table in the middle of the restaurant. I could see the head chef between the weaved partitions of the simple yet unpretentious decor which hang comfortably in a sort of Vale type setting. It was humming and the vibe was perfect for a post Xmas dinner. We had two wait staff both very different in personality but equally professional and absolutely delightful. Three out of four of us decided to do the seafood degustation one the meat degustation, all with wine matches (in the most beautiful glassware). The wait staff were incredibly wonderful when Introducing each dish and each wine match, with both ease and detail without the fuss. Every dish was magnificent and the pairings (most locallywere equally as divine. This place really is special, I loved that the owner/head chef was in the kitchen carefully orchestrating his dishes seamlessly and effortlessly, something you rarely see in a restaurant. There was a sort of reverence about this place, a nostalgic comforting air about it. At $130 (wine pairing inclthis was an absolute steal for such an incredible degustation. I will definitely be back to try more wonderful dishes in the near future. KA PAI PACIFICA thank you.
Visited recently to partake in the seafood degustation, sadly without matching wines as I was the driver. If you are in Napier and love seafood, this is where to go!
Booked a table at this restaurant in advance and have to say their menu surprised me quite a bit. The chef loved using flavoured food foam in 2/4 dishes in its 4 course menu. You can pick either a seafood or meat direction for their menu. I chose the seafood direction and they all tasted fabulous. The portion size is just enough for a person, which I thought this is a great balance personally since I dont like the feeling of getting too full after a meal. In terms of ingredients, very normal but somehow the chef uses its creativity to elevate the ingredients to a level of fine dining. In terms of flavour, I know their menu is seasonal but it seems that there are a lot of Asian inspired flavours (e.g. Miso, soy sauce, dashi, coconut spiced curry etc). Give it a good if you ever stop by Napier. Just need to book in advance.
Second time visit. Loved the Ceviche, Warehou and Flounder. Beautiful, different flavours. I thought the cheese board was underwhelming, very little cheese! More coffee than caramel flavour in the bavarois.Staff were friendly and knowledgeable.
What a fantastic restaurant. The food was spectacular in taste and looks. The atmosphere was amazing, the staff so attentive. It was worth every cent. Will definitely be back next time were in Napier.
Went here for dinner with my partner during our stay in Napier and had a very amazing dinner in this beautiful restaurant. Great food, great service and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back on our next Napier trip.
Weve been to many restaurants from Auckland to Wellington and had some amazing food. But I promise you, nowhere matches the amazing dishes they offer. Behind the small blue exterior on the parade hides the best you will ever taste. From the sweet breads to the cheese and everything in-between. An intimate little place with the friendliest of people. This is my 2nd review and our fifth visit. 5 course degustation menu and not one drop was left. Theres no point going to Napier if you dont visit Natalie and Jeremy. Do not miss the opportunity to eat there.
If you are in Napier and love great food, you owe it to yourself to head to Pacifica! The food, the wine and the service is first class. The seafood here is always amazing.
Unique dining experience...love it the first time, the second and hoping to visit again and again soon.
Disappointed with the food, some are very salty. Not worth $140 for two people. The service is good.
This was the second time I tried a set menu / fancy dining with degustation menu. The staff were very accommodating even though I arrived unbooked and late and managed to get me a seat and t he whole experience. The fine dinning experience is expensive in general. This place was doing a seafood menu and was 70$ so kind of cheaper than places. Total 100$ with the drinks. The menu as below was pretty nice and I really liked the Parmesan foam. Never had it before.Overall this place was definitely 4-4.5 and the considering seafood, it was probably worth the money. Taste was definitely 5. The staff were very attentive and I enjoyed..However a once off experience for occasions .
Delicious food but we left the restaurant hungry. Im attaching the main meals picture. (its a 5 course set menu. Grove - Auckland style. But with very small portions. You decide for yourselves.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Pacifica. Beautifully created dishes matched with amazing wine and top notch service. We will 100% be going back and taking friends and family with us.
One of my favourite tasting menus I have had. The food made me feel good, not just feel full. You must make a reservation, we did not and were lucky that someone else was unable to make it. Everything was cooked fabulously, the wait staff were wonderful and didnt hover or linger around us.
Experimental tasting menus were an adventure and of high quality. Not every dish was my favorite but were still culinary treats.
Its a beautiful and very fancy restaurant. If you go then remember it is an upper class vibe. The food portions are small but are delicious. It is very expensive. The wine is from around New Zealand which was great to hear. The waitress and staff were extremely professional and knew what they were talking about. It is a set menu.
Really great food and atmosphere. Staff were just lovely.
The tasting menu here was fantastic. I had the seafood option and my partner chose the meat. We both enjoyed our dishes immensely. The food was simple yet creative and everything was so tasty. The service was also great and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Such great value too for such high quality food - amazing. Highly recommended! Thanks for a lovely evening
Great degustation menu - fantastic wine pairings and friendly staff.
Clean, not complicated yet a rich, fabulous taste palette of food with fantastic service! Thank you Pacifica for a great dining experience in Napier.
Ka mau te wehi. Absolutely delicious. Tino reka. Will definitely be back.
Absolutely perfect!Had an awesome experience staff were friendly and knowledgeable about food and wine matches.Great presentation and flavours, Just was outstanding!I certainly recommend this gem of a restaurant 100%.P.S I just been advised that they are in the top 100 restaurants in New Zealand this year. I wouldnt be surprised if they win.
Wonderful experience, tasteful food, atmosphere and music was charming, staff were very attentive friendly. The pairing of the wine with food was fantastic, thanks to the chefs that cooked and plated my food. my eyes appreciated the look of it and my tummy enjoyed every mouthful.
We heard about this restaurant in Vancouver, and made our booking about 1 month in advance. It was everything we wanted, plus more! We tried the seafood as well as the mixed menu, and loved every dish! Proportions were perfect, the presentation was lovely, and the taste exquisite! We both had the wine pairings and these suited the food perfectly. However, it was the cheery and enthusiastic service that completed the evening. Cannot recommend highly enough!
A very relaxing and nice place to go for delicious and delicate meal. Great service and fantastic food. Love their seafood menu and the bluenose was a bomb. Thank you, Pacifica, for giving us the best anniversary experience. Will definitely go there again.
Very cosy small and intimate location with attentive staff. Good place to have your first degustation experience. Choice of a seafood and mixed courses. We chose one of each and honestly i felt as though the mixed course was superior in terms of taste. The degustation was perfectly paced and overall price was reasonable. Definitely worth a visit.
Painted an astonishing full stop to our Napier visit. A small and cozy dining place that with staff
Was delighted to have the seafood, 5 course degustation with matching wines. I was blown away by the quick service, beautiful and delicate food, and amazing wine menu. The staff were wonderful, and we couldnt have asked for a better dining experience.
What an exquisite experience. The food was creative, and a beautiful balance of flavor. The wine pairings were lovely. Service was exceptional, relaxed pace for enjoying each course and the company of great friends.
balance of saltiness wasnt my favour, some dishes were very salty, some ware not at all. took 2h for the course.
Oh my god this place is INCREDIBLE! We called to make a booking and they were full, but we left a message and asked them to call us back if there was any way they could fit us in. We got a call back the next morning and they arranged for us to eat later that night. Amazing customer service! The food was so good! 5 courses for $50 NZD, and BY FAR the best food Id had in NZ, possibly the world. Each bite was amazing. The service was also top-notch. Water refilled, people checking in to make sure it was good, good timing of courses.Everything was amazing. Im so glad I got to go while I was in NZ.
Fabulous all around. One of the best dining experiences Ive had in NZ or otherwise. I called on Friday asking for a reservation for the following night (I pulled the birthday card), which Natalie and her team were gracious enough to grant to me and my two friends despite being fully booked. The food was delicious, not too complicated but still interesting. The service was wonderful, our waitress even brought my friend a second glass of water after she said she wasnt having wine because we had biked 43km on a winery tour all day. Thanks Pacifica!
An amazing, stellar experience that I would recommend to anyone, thank you team Pacifica. Natalie called to offer us an earlier seating as we advised when booking initially, that wed prefer to come in earlier in the evening if possible, so that was hugely appreciated. Then for approx 2hrs15min we were taken on a journey through 5 completely different yet complementary dishes all with different tastes and textures. Very well deserving of their new title, NZs restaurant of the year.
Fantastic food as usualGreat service
This restaurant exceeds all expectations & would like to wish Jeremy & all his staff continued success.Fabulous food & a fantastic wine selection.Great dining experience, excellent customer service and a very comfortable & welcoming ambience.Highly recommend Pacifica as a "Must visit" when dining in the Napier area, you will not be disappointed.
