PG's Diner in Lake Charles

Its a diner and casino all-in-one.Went here looking for a nice local spot while driving through.Very friendly staff but poor facilities.The locals seem to like it so i give it a two star as oppose to 1.

Although the service was the best in mannerism Ive experienced in a long time, the food quality was lacking to enjoy a true Southern meal.

This poor diner needs some TLC! Really old and it shows. Benches are so old theres hardly any cush left, you feel like youre sitting on springs and wood. But the food was yummy and service was friendly. Although, when we were there, our waitress looked overwhelmed and our food took a long time.

Food took a long time to come out but service was great otherwise. They were extremely busy. Homestyle breakfast. Get the pile with chili 👌

I enjoy my experience at PGs Diner. I order the Gumbo as a appetizer and my launch was a Hamburger Steak with Potatoes Fries. Everthing was so Delicious. The waitress I had was so courteous and very kind. Do to my great experience here a PGs Diner, I will definitely be back again very soon.

I have tried their breakfast a few time and enjoyed everything. I tried their burger it wasnt real bad but I wont be having it again. It was dry they dont add enough condiments and the small amount of fries I received were cold.

Got the plate lunch. It had generous portions and the price was very reasonable. The only thing that keep me from a five star rating was that the rice was undercooked.

The whole place reaked of cigarette smoke, Service was bad, food was bad. Our fries were soggy and inedible. Most likely our first and last time

The shrimp poboy was amazing,The turkey club was OMG 😮The have a little casino inside.For a chance to play$1.00 which,if you win. You have ate a amazing meal played video poker and walk out with extra cash.Look at it , like a great place to go on a cozy date.

The only thing I can say is the waitress was very friendly and doing what she could for being the only waitress for the restaurant. Food was okay, wishy washy at best. Fricassee is NOT gumbo.... It should be a thicker gravy.

The food is always great but this time the wait for our food was very long. But that wont stop us from coming back this is my favorite restaurant in Lake Charles.

Decent prices, all right service, unless you are a regular. Seems their vision skips over unfamiliar places. Lots of food, but not as much as IHOP.

My husband and I went there for breakfast, it was a terrible experience. Ordered my coffe and his juice things seemed normal, then after 3 refills on my coffee and his orange juice STILL NO FOOD!!! We asked and out waitress kept saying oh let me see. Finally after 2 or 3 more times of others receiving their food before us and they came in after us, we decided to pay for our drinks anyway and cancel our order. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT...HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE...NO WONDER EVERYONE ONLY GOES TO THE PITT GRILL IN SULPHUR

Went in on Sunday during Barry. : Food was out fast, waitress was attentive. Plus it was packed around brunch time. WIll go back.

Normally I love this place. But the last 3 times I have eaten there it is not the norm. Waffle was soggy then the hamburger steak was krispy on top and bottom. I could hardly cut it then today I found a long blk hair stuck in a slice of bacon and my husband and daughter ordered eggs over med. They were less cooked then over easy eggs. It was disgusting. They have different cooks and they don’t compare to the little lady that had been there for yrs. I may go back but next time I will say something if I have a bad experience

After a day of shopping, tired and hungry, we stopped here on our way home. We ate the chicken n sausage gumbo. Our hats off to the cook, amazing. We highly recommend this restaraunt. Great service, great food.

This place is my one of my top 5 restaurant great food and atmosphere quite place too eat alone the service is great but the breakfast is why I keep coming back to PGs Diner

I got it to go, walked in picked up my own menu at the door. Sat in the nearest seat. Was waited on promptly by the waitress who took care to get my order correct and even got me a drink while I waited. It took around 20 minutes for my order to come out and I left a nice tip for the waitress, but it was well worth the wait. I would come back any time. Food was great

My experience today was completely underwhelming. I normally can go to pgs and expect good food and wonderful service the last couple times I have went the wait staff was extremely unhelpful, never offering refills, slow to service and very simply put lazy about their job. The food is lackluster at best, undercooked eggs over cooked bacon and the saddest sausage links Ive ever seen. Went to talk to the manager and was more or less blown off with a shrug and not even an apology for the poor service.

I would give it zero stars if I could. The waitress in the evening has no clue of what is going on. I attempted to order a cheeseburger special,,key word special which comes with a side. She told me she had been there two months and that was not an item, even though it is advertised on their marquee. I ordered 6 burger dinners for supper, called the other store to see if what she was telling me was true. I confirmed she was clueless. Went in to pay made her look at marquee advertisement, she began to argue with me. She basically said ,I had to take what she told me and if I didnt like it I could leave.Note to Establishment, your evening waitress can be quite rude and condescending, she cost the business $60 of cooked food. Clearly she does not know terminology of special, and does not know how to ring it on the register, and thats who you choose to run your business. If business has declined in 2 months, common denominator is her.

I ate at pgs diner! My name is Enrico Williams and i had the pleasure of being served by one of the best, shauna ellis did a superb job. Ma. Ellis made me and my mothers dinner evwn better with her on the spot attitude. Awesome!

Very friendly mom & pops place. Had to wait for food a bit, but definitely worth the wait. Very satisfying experience. Food was GREAT!

We went in and had a seat, someone brought us a tea and a menu. Then no one came back to take our order.. 30 later we finally asked to order and the lady said Im not your waitress. Let me find her... five more mins passed. And we left hungry and mad.

Went there this morning and me and my wife ordered the two eggs and two pancakes and two sausages. The waitress asked how do you want your eggs, I said over medium. I asked if we could have a order of beacon and hashbrowns, because we going to be sharing the food and she said okay, but you want your eggs over medium right? I said yes, she put in the order. When she came back with the order, we started preparing the food to split up and saw grill dust on the pancakes and the the eggs were over easy. So we called the waitress over to show her the grill dust on the pancakes and show her the eggs were over easy. She told us that she will put in another order of pancakes but there at this restaurant when you say over medium, the eggs come out over easy, but if you say over hard, then it comes out with a little jell to them. THAT DIDNT MAKE SENSE! Well thats what we do here. So I told her that we dont want the food and she charged us for it anyway.So we werent happy at all!

I ordered to go big country chick fried steak breakfast and they forgot the white gravy. I was so upset but I should have check like I usually do my take out orders.

Weve cone here for brunch several times and each time is been great, great service, great food. They serve the best fried chicken in town and their pancakes and waffles are awesome.

When I say the service was absolutely horrible thats not an exaggeration by any means and the food was sub par to boot. I will NEVER visit this establishment again especially seeing how the server literally tried to pretend we werent there every time she passed by. I wish I knew her name but it was 10:30 am today when we went and she was serving the middle section.

Small diner atmosphere with friendly staff. I had 5 pancakes, an egg, and a heaping pile of hashbrowns for $12 and some change. Over all the food was good. I wish my hashbrowns were crispier, but everyone likes theirs differently. Unfortunately they didnt have chocolate chips for pancakes either. The only other bad thing I can say is that I saw some type of bug scurrying near the back side of one of the refrigerators. Over all, Id probably eat there again, but I would bring chocolate chips!

This place was average. The food was cheap but it wasnt anything great. The place wasnt as clean and it was really cold inside that I wasnt able to enjoy my meal.

One of my favorite breakfast place to go. The food is great, homey, and price affordable. They sell great lunch also but Im a breakfast person and its delicious!!

It took us 15 minutes to even get our coffee in a water. There was absolutely NO soap in the girls bathroom, so the wait staff could NOT have washed their hands !! GROSS!! When the food came out my waffle was so soggy and disgusting. I felt bad for the waitress, she cant control the cooks so I still left her a tip but we will not be going back there ever

Family setting, Affordable food, management is good and she works right along side of each one of her employees. Shes not afraid to work and she is very friendly, compassionate, and understanding. She puts her employees above herself and she is very involved and in touch with each of them. Food is awesome! Best burgers in town among so many other awesome meals. Friendly and hard working staff from the top to the bottom. If you have a concern dont hesitate to bring it up to the attention of your waitress. They will be happy to take care of the situation and if they cant resolve an issue they will defiantly bring it up to management and together they aim to satisfy the customer. Stop by and give it a try. Ive seen negative ratings and thats just not the way they run this place. If u havent then stop by and give them a try and allow them to work to please your dinning needs.

Service was lacking. Food was horrible! I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. Burger came on a roll that was charcoal burned and inedible. Waitress made a feeble attempt to fix my food by bringing me a new roll. Staff needs some major training! Properly trained cooks never would have sent that burger out to a customer. Properly trained servers would take the whole plate away and have it redone. Properly trained staff would have had a manager come speak with me, which did not happen! I was still charged full price, which leaves me believing that customer service is not their strong suit. I would consider any place but this one! I know I won’t go back!

Had breakfast items must have sit before it was put up for pickup it did not taste freshly cooked. I was only order on ticket. omelet and hash brown was cold. Wont return for breakfast for sure. Plate did not look appetizing at all, I only ate it because breakfast use to be the bomb not any more.

The staff will make your order exactly as requested and food is always fresh. Come often enough and youll become a regular. Theyll remember your order and drink preference :I always see the manager kristie jump in to help the wait staff and cooks, you dont see that many places. I had an issue with a burger not being made right and she apologized and remade it herself for me, including the fries. Said she wanted to make sure all my food was fresh when I ate it. Definitely recommend anyone go in when she works cause shell take great care of you.

Excellent service, good food, and very unreasonably priced. Will definitely make the trip back from Texas to eat here again. Lots to choose from on the menu as well.

Unbelievably RudeWait staff let three women with two babies stand around without any acknowledgement of their presence let alone service and preferred to talk about them in front of them instead of waiting on them. Way to lose the business of a large family! Never returning to this place.

Food was good... my sons sausage was still cold in the middle so it was replaced with bacon. Service ok... BUT finding a roach in the jelly container wasnt ideal! Told waitress and she took the container.. manager never stopped by or anything. We will skip this place next time were in town.

I have been wanting to try this place for a few weeks. I am very disappointed. I ordered on Waitr. I ordered a waffle, egg sandwich with ham, hot chocolate and grits. I asked for extra butter for both my waffle and grits. I got one small thing of butter and 2 sugar packets. The sandwich looked like the ingredients were just literally thrown into the box. It looked like they made the egg sandwich, cut it in half, and remembered it needed ham them just threw the ham in there. The hot chocolate was obviously the instant packets, which is fine but it was incredibly watery. Why charge $2 for a small hot chocolate if its mostly water? The waffle was soggy which I guess could be attributed to the fact that it was in a to go container. But all in all I was very disappointed and I doubt Ill be back.

The food was divine. The coffee mugs were really small, but cute. Id prefer a larger mug for my coffee, though I am a coffee fanatic. The service was a bit slow, though our waitress was still in training. She was very friendly and personable. Will definitely be eating here again.

My wife is from here, but we had just moved back down here from out of state. We walk in, and it felt a bit more like a bar than a Molt Shop. When I was there, I felt like a sign was flashing "No Yankees".This may be fine if you know people here, or are from the area: But if youre expecting courtesy and kindness, you may want to skip on this place.

I had been passing this place up everyday for over a year and didnt know what I had been missing until I tasted the Breakfast my usual meal there. The outside of building doesnt stand out to attract attention is the reason I passed them up for so long. Im sorry I did because now Im hooked.

First, we walked in to no tables clean and were told to sit at a dirty table until someone came by to clean it. Second, our waitress vented to us about how bad her day had been and that her job was stressing her out before even ordering our drinks. After we ordered we waited around for half an hour before we got any food (with no forks or knives to eat it with). My mom was with us and she was never brought her food. Apparently the waitress had put the order in incorrectly. We had to pay and take her food to-go and we still waited 10 minutes for that. The icing on the cake was the fact that after not seeing our waitress for half an hour we saw her taking a smoke break in front of the diner as we left. The food was ok, but the service is what makes me never want to come back.

Just left the diner full and happy. Good breakfast. Good service. Arrived when it was a bit noisy but worth it all. You will see us again. Thanks

First off they were a little busy, they lost my order after 30 min. They came back to us and asked us our order again then another 10 min to get our food and got the eggs wrong the second time around. But the smoked sausage was great. Probably find another breakfast stop next time

The food was phenomenal and the staff was amazingly nice. Very pleasant place to grab a bite. Highly recommended! Their sausage and bacon are my favorites.

I love the food and the service. Once they were out of pancake batter which was odd, but they have plenty to choose from. I kind of wish they would update the ceiling tiles and vents though, haha. Will go again

After reading the negative reviews, I felt inclined to write about my experience here. Ive been going to PGs Diner for years. Its diner food is as good as that at any diner in Lake Charles. Servers are always friendly and willing to accommodate. Its true a dish may sometimes arrive a couple of minutes later than Id expect it to. But the place is always super-busy, so Im not going to get unwrapped about it. As for the guy who complained about a bus boy wiping a table with a wet rag ... dude ... its a diner. If you want the Ritz, dont go to a diner.If youre comfortable with the diner experience, both the food and the atmosphere here will please you.

The service was horrible! We ordered an appetizer of onion rings that came about 3 mins before our food (which was actually ready at the same time...the server just left our food sitting in the window for a few mins so it didnt look as bad on her!). When I received my plain baked potato, it had a hair in it so I had to send it back. I dont know if this is normal service or not since this was our first experience here.
