Bagatelle – Mall of Mauritius Moka 80832, Moka, Mauritius, Bel Air Rivière Sèche
PAUL - Cafe in Bel Air Rivière Sèche, Mauritius
This is one of my favourite restaurants for meeting up with friends. It’s location is central which means one can meet people from the North if you live on the West coast. It’s about halfway. It’s location also means I can do other shopping before or afterwards.Numerous items on the menu are not available due to shortages but their patisserie section is always plentiful and they serve delicious salads. The restaurant is cool and tastefully decorated like the Paul’s that is familiar to those who frequent their franchises. It is classy without being pretentious.Staff are friendly but seating is limited and service is slow, so go early and be prepared to wait on busy days.
Food is generally good but you dont have all the options you would get in a PAUL outlet in France or elsewhere. And sometimes items go missing from their already restricted menu. For example on one recent visit I could not even get an iced cappuccino even if it had been heavily advertised on their social media accounts. Service is fast.
Often come to order a Caesar salad, but the quantity is very limit, giving that the other outlet in Grand Baie serves double in size literally. Service could also be a lot better.
Great food and classic dining setting. Lovely hospitality and quality service.
Always good service, The cake is so yummy. Hats off chef Shezad.
Best coffee place in the whole Island of Mauritius. Wont be disappointed.
Very disappointing experience at the Bagatelle kiosk. Took forever to order because another customer was struggling to pay due to card machine error. Staff could have mentioned that they had no working card machine to other patiently waiting customers which wasn’t clear beforehand. Instead the guy took my order, packed it all up and then proceeded to tell me that I’d have to queue up at the cash machine to pay in cash. 9 months pregnant and was in a big rush (which I had also mentioned before!.. so no thanks..! Staff should have mentioned this before to easily avoid inconvenience - had to leave my lunch and consequently didn’t have time to go elsewhere - no apology of course. Not in a hurry to return! Pathetic way to handle it in the circumstances. Could have at least let me take the tiny cake on the house considering we go there all the time.
I visited yesterday the Pauls store (the actual shop). They have a terrace outside where they dont serve. You can order at the counter and they make you a ToGo pack which you can take outside and seat yourself. Next to the terrace is a dining room where you are seated and served at the table. That confused me first because I tried to order at the counter but wanted to sit inside as I didnt want "ToGo". As a result I waited in the wrong line until one of the staff explained. I ordered yesterday an Espresso Macchiato, a Cappuccino, a chocolate Éclair and an almond tart. Today a Macaroon. Everything was prepared professionally and the cakes tasted very good and authentic. The server was kind and attentive.
Insulting and unfair. This is a place where posh wannabes will always be prioritized over the average Mauritian folk. Actually, thats quite the reality in Mauritius. My friend was very ill and needed to eat something. We decided on a Pain au Chocolat at Paul. There was already a lady who had quite a command for a cake. I waited patiently, despite the lady taking all her time and asking all kinds of details. Meanwhile, the two people at the till do not notice me.The lady had hardly finished her command when a group of touristy women came along and had their order taken before me! I couldnt believe it. I settled at a table and waited for the group to move on. When theyre finally done and I come to the till to place my order, I get told off by another woman who says she was here before. At no point does the waiter clear things out with her.Anyway, I expressed my disappointment to the waiter. I felt insulted by being so blatantly ignored. This is clearly a place where youll be overlooked in favour of the posh party. There is a name for that. :)Anyway, I wont set foot ever in Paul again. Worst customer service in any food outlet Ive experienced.
The review is for the Paul coffee stand which is located near La Rose de Damas inside Bagatelle Mall. Twice I went there and each time same disappointment...the waiter said theres no more mug available an he pointed to me the sink fully loaded with mugs..so they cant wash!!!..secondo...the waiter was making coffee for another customer and he requested a woman to take my order...the woman was not being able to type o the cash tilt screen...she blocked the system 3 times...the queue was growing longer....after 15 mins she was still unable to take the order and said "Garçon la meme bizin prend ou commande.!!".lol...the queue was impatient and I just had to cancel n leave...spoiling my happy time with my family at Bagatelle!!!it was on Wednesday 10 August 2022!...please that same does not recur n that more mugs be made available!!because its not good to spoil someone mood n time!!
Appauling food and not to the standard that the franchise should be. Half of food on menu not available. Bread is hard. Croissants are clearly not made with just butter.
Never disappointed when eating at Pauls
We went there for breakfast... The serve all day breakfast which i really really liked... Their coffee options are enough too and theyre really good... Food portion sizes were good and the staff well behaved... The food choices were also good... And especially the sweet options were good and plenty... Overall totally recommended!!
Food was nice and yummy.
Perfect
The pastries were way too sweet. Rest overall was ok
Very good food i like the service as well
The pistachio éclaire was exquisite. The fillings were so flavourful. The raspberry tarte was also good also. Paul has opened stalls in the mall where you can sit and have a tea or coffee. Cool atmosphere except it is too open. Prices are okay. Sofas are comfy. Friendly staffs.
Superb service..Blueberry tart and Blueberry cheese cake are the best..Nice serviceBlack forest cake is wonderful
It’s the first time I’ve gone to Paul bagatelle and i was very disappointed.1I’ve order an omelette with mushroom with . Unfortunately the mushroom was missing2they served me another plate with mushroom now the bread is missing3I’ve been serve with a dirty glass of waterI show the manager and explain to him is it the right way to serve me his reaction “Sorry for that , i just bring you your bill “.Woooh what was that . 👎👎👎👎👎👎Very bad service
Perfect place to be in peace and this place is just wonderful...love it and will be back there again
Undoubtedly the cakes were delicious. However, the service was very bad and lacking. I had to wait a lot to be served. Moreover no one came forward to take my order for almost 25 mins. Very bad experience
Amazing place. Amazing food with great dessert with lots of flavour with a classic French style
Paul practices medical apartheid and segregation. I personally know covid-positive but asymptomatic patients walk into their outlets while flashing their vaccination cards. Hey, PAUL Mauritius, in case you dont know, a vaccination card does NOT mean covid negative. But thank you for showing your clients who made you who you are today how bigoted you can be. As from today, we will no longer buy anything from you in support of our unvaccinated friends who are suffering immense discrimination from your outlets.
Great pastries but quite expensive.
Expensive place. had only one cake over there, was severely disappointed with quality and taste. Especially at the price point. If visit in the future and will try again will definitely reupdate the review based on experience. It might have been just a one off.
Always love my stops at Paul. From the fresh juices to vegetarian food to pastries 🥰
Its Paul. Do i need to say more?Chill place to hang out after hours. 👍I recommend the coffee + pistachio macaron
Good and friendly service specially in the morning. Breakfast was ok.
Just on the road side in front of free Public parking, wheelchair accessible, nice cozy cafe with hot and cold drinks, juices and cakes, well not all here is halal but there are halal options available.Old English theme inside and outdoor seating, professional staff, cards and cash accepted, take aways available.Reservations can be made too.Open these days despite covid situation.
At SSR Inter. Airport, at 0730 hrs, waiting for the flight, I drank a coffee at Paul café. How relieving. It was nice.
I went to Paul in Bagatelle after 2 years. I forgot the name of the cake that was displayed which I wanted. Also, there was no name tag for it. It looked close to a genoise to me, so I asked the cashier for a genoise. To which she exclaimed loudly "genoise, pna genoise ici". Then I asked to be seated inside, her tone was so full of attitude how over there the price is higher. I felt so embarrassed because of her rude and mannerless behaviour.24 July 2021, 2pm
Paul BagatelleStaff was very cold and impolite. They did not speicify about dine in or take away, embarrassing us when we were already going inside.Cake and beverages were alright.
Yummy food. Friendly yet professional waiters. One of my favourite places on the island.
The salmon croissant is heavenly, and all the beverages are fantastic! Only set back, a handful of waiters are blunt and cold, not even apologetic about forgetting to bring dessert or not even bothering to be polite. Ah well. I suppose theyre just a handful really. I will still go back for the food.
Good food and service
Chocolate pie was surprisingly dark.Moelleux au Chocolat came with too much whipped cream!Service is terrible - staff should probably learn from their colleagues at SoFlo!
Very nice place. The fresh orange juice are very nice. The sandwich as well are tasty and staff are very welcoming.Definitely a place to go.
I liked the décor but hated the meal. I got the chicken and quinoa. While the presentation looked good, when I tasted the quinoa I almost puked. It tasted like something that has gone spoilt because kept too long, not fresh at all. I was so put off and disappointed more so when it was so expensive. I would not recommend the meal. However their pastries still tasted good so overall would say 3 stars.
I am surprised to see numerous bad reviews here. I went there around 3-4 times and service has been ok, it was not excellent but it was fine. The savoury food does not hit the spot for me. It tastes good but there is nothing that differentiates itself from the rest. Baguette with cheese and ham is a classic but for the price you pay, you might make it yourself. Now, the cakes are quite good and probably what saves this place. The cheese cake is yummy, the cream cheese is not its own, it is clearly mixed with some cream and a generous amount of sugar. The éclairs are beautiful, though I feel for Pauls calibre, it could have been with some craquelin. Overall, i think it is ok. For the mauritian market though, I do feel a slight reduction of approximately 10-15% would have made it more accessible to the general crowd.
Best place to be ..Excellent service...Yummy food 💜
Old: One of the best cakes and pastries on the island. Now switching to 4 stars because taste and service have really deteriorated. Just called for an order and had a guy take my order consisting of French pastries in English with an Indian accent. Couldnt even explain properly what I wanted to buy without repeating myself. The macarons which to me were one of the best on the island have now become less than average tasting. Theyre not delicious at all considering the price.Service and quality now needs improvement.
Great coffee, good food, great service
Paul? Seriously? Look at the place... its everything but a Paul shop. You come in there and they do not even care to come see you, or give you a menu or ask what you need. Legit waited for 25min on their terrace on the table right in front of the entrance and finally gave up and went to the counter. Even though they see you sitting there, they simply dont care. And when you order, they tell you their terrace is take away only. WTH?! Why have an outdoor area then? A total shame for the Paul brand.
😍im in love with their food..So yummy and excellent service❤️❤️
Food is good. Coffee is good. Service is great. At times you have to wait a bit for a table but overall its fine
Cosy posh place for a good breakfast
We tried their cakes which were good but for the price you pay its quite exaggerated. I was curious to see so many people queuing in front of the bakery each time I went to Bagatelle. The equation was many people is equal to something exceptional inside. As others one day patiently I queued up to buy something special. Visually the cakes are not like the one you will have in ordinary bakeries in Mauritius, I chose 3 cakes and surprisingly at the till my bill was around Rs 600, this is ridiculously expensive. I was expecting something special in it with no avail on the other hand the cakes were exaggeratedly sweet, they were just selling a brand. For the price Ive paid I could get more and better cakes elsewhere. Ive learned from this, and now Ill be wiser when spending money.
Food was really great! Got value for money!
The cakes are good. Nice place to have breakfast. Cozy atmosphere
