1100 Nugget Ave, Sparks, NV 89431, United States, Reno
Longtime haunt at the Nugget Casino Resort serving classic seafood eats amid nautical decor.
Great food and customer service .
I specifically came to the nugget just to visit oyster bar. The lady at the cash register sat me at a table and then after a few minutes my server came to say I should go sit at the bar because she was too busy to wait on me. The bar wouldnt have really worked for me since I needed a chair with a back on it. I decided I would just have to eat somwhere else which kinda sucks because it was a pain to find parking, and I had to walk through the casino for minutes to get from the west lot to the resteraunt.
I love this place. The food, the pirate ship atmosphere, the quality is hit and miss sometimes and the service is bad sometimes. I understand that the nugget is a rough club to work for.
Marvelous experience and Yeny was a fabulous server. Shrimp, lobster, and crab cocktail, lobster ravioli with unexpected lumps of lobster, Boston clam chowder and calamari and nice big pours of wine.
Went to Reno for my b-day(JanuaryStayed @Nugget. Overall my trip was a success. My only complaint, was ordering mussels @this restaurant. They were a little undercooked &very gritty. Idk who exactly my server was. 1person,brought food to the table, another brought the drinks. When asked, how everything was. I mentioned the grit. Moments later,a male came remotely close to the table. I saw him just standing &looking(mad)Then he walked away. Didnt dawn on me,that it may have been the cook. I was offered oysters,by 1 of the previous women, who served my table. But I turned it down & didnt ask for a refund.
Our most recent time here with the family suck! We must have caught them on a shift change. Cause the server that we had in the begin was a lot nicer than the one that we got introduced to. Bertha never came back to take the rest of our order. "When we called her over she said what do you guys want" came off a bit rude. I would say portion size is small. Food taste good, better than service.
My food was lukewarm and wasnt check on till ready to leave. Second time going there and I will not be going there again.
My Dad and I have been coming in here for a very long time (turns out to be 20+ years). Weve always loved the food and staff. Things have definitely changed now. The food is different, but still tasty. Theres new staff, but still all wonderful and friendly hard workers.
Food was great !! Server Diane was prompt but over did her job...she kept asking over n over if she could take my plate when I clearly wasnt finished as if she wanted me to hurry n go... Very rude
We ordered the chefs special, absolutely amazing! So much flavor.
Food was good and service was prompt. One issue that really knocked the rating down was a $20 charge for asking for a particular vodka versus the house choice. 2 martinis ended up being $36 and was never mentioned at the time we ordered. Heard another table complain about this as well. Manager was too busy to discuss this with me.
Awesome awesome awesome food. I tipped the chef as well as the server. True comfort food! Gumbo and Fish &, Chips delicious. Prices actually less than Id expected for the level of quality.
We sat at the counter, great service, fish and chips... Worth it! the pan roast was a little off, the bread used to be softer... But otherwise... 👍
Always great. Best sea food in Reno/Sparks. Reasonable prices. Friendly service
My wife and I came here with high expectations, she order the lobster ravioli and it was excellent!! Portions were small! Myself I order the seafood extravaganza and ended up with food poisoning 3 hours later and was sicker than a dog!!
We ordered 2 dozen of the BLUE POINT OYSTERS, they were the littlest BLUE POINTS I have ever seen, and they were just opened and not scrapped off the bottom shell,so you had to detatch them your self, they might have been the size of a half a teaspoon, they took all the juice off of them, but they were oh so good,
Gumbo and extravaganza tasted amazing.A little short staffed, so I typed out our groups order on my phone including drinks and the server was able to quickly take our order. Our food came fast after it was put in. Lobster roll, lobster bisque and calamari wasnt bad.
Brandon was our sever. We set for at least 20 min before he acknowledged us. He then brought soup 15 min late still never any drinks. We finally had to get up and ask for drinks. Then as we waited we watched him eat fries off of a plate then serve it. Picked his nose, sneeze into his hands the grab food. It was absolutely disgusting and horrible service!!
Great food and wide selection of seafood. While there was a delay in getting some of the order due to the fry station, the excellent server overcame with something to hold us over and good communication.
Our server was slammed, bwe came at the end of the dinner rush. He came back and offered me a complimentary bowl of chowder with delicious in house made sour dough bread. We will be back again.
After a same-week comparison of several local seafood pan roast offerings, my friends and I agree that the Nuggets Oyster Bar remains the absolute best in Reno/Sparks. The service is prompt and courteous, the bread is fresh and plentiful, and they refill your drink before you can think to ask. Five stars, and highly recommended!
The wait time for a walk up was a bit long but was worth it. Michael was an amazing waiter and was personable. 11/10 recommend asking for him if you can!
We have going to the Oster bar for years to have the pan roast. We just ate there tonight, things have definitely changed, and not for the better. Hardly any seafood in it, plus the shrimp are now very small, and they were completely out of crab. We took our while family for their birthday dinner, and we were very disappointed!
Very disappointed! I’ve been getting their Cioppino every New Year’s day for years. The cook was rude and the cioppino was poor at best basically fish and shrimp, no Scallops, no clams, no crab And the sauce was marginal. I won’t be back!
this is the very first time i have ever been so disappointed with the shrimp pan roast. usually the consistency is very thick and hearty but this time around we got shrimp soup. i wont say this will be the last time i ever order the pan roast, maybe the chef had an off day, but for 57 bucks and some change it could have been way, way, better.
Loved the Fish and chips! My two table mates ordered cold chicken sandwich on a croissant, and the other ordered the shrimp and avocado sandwich 🥪.Both loved their meals as well. 🤗
Finally! A great seafood place with actual fresh yummy seafood. Everything was amazing. Im a local and did a staycation at the Nugget with my boy for Thanksgiving. I was bummed with their restaurant options and Rosies was pretty much it and Ive never been that fond of them... but holy moly Oyster Bar is absolutely wonderful and prices great for food and drinks. Will definitely be my choice when craving seafood from now on. Im from Oregon and I miss fresh seafood. You will not be disappointed.
Ordered to go. Crab and other goodies was bagged up and brought up to my room. Cost over 100 bucks for the whole order. Snow crab tasted very good. Oysters were done just right. And, the Dungeness crab was tasty good!
We came around 4pm and I had set a reservation for us beforehand. We were seated promptly and we got our order taken shortly after. The staff where very friendly and answered all our questions. The king crab at the moment was $87.99 for the pound if I’m not mistaken. Luckily they split it in half for you so it was easy to eat and super delicious. We also get a soup with it and I got calamari for us on the side. I was not a bug fan of the tomato sauce it was more like ketchup, I’d say more of a tangy marinara sauce would be perfect, but the tartar sauce was good.
Service is great! I had the Jerk Salad and it was very good. It also came with some yummy warm bread.
Ok food and exceptional prices. Doesn’t make sense with the cost.
The oyster bar at the Nugget used to be a favorite hang for the gang. The shots were only $1.00 and you could add the shakers yourself. Garlic bread and a cold Beer 🍺 on the side made it a meal! Sometimes John would be roaming thru.As with everything, prices went up and the shots have changed a bit. When I looked in, the bar was roped off. Im not sure why. I didnt ask. And it looked lonely and blue. Not the same as its heydays. Maybe it needs you !
Im not an Oster bar kinda gal so it took me some time to explore this place. Friends took us here for dinner. I was pleasantly surprised. They offer other foods other then all fish all day. Shrimp pasta is excellent. Nice Date night place to go that wont break the already bleeding wallet that most are dealing with at this time.
Fantastic food, chef Alex and staff are top notch. Even ran into Rick from Pawn Stars
The seafood tower was amazing! The service was great. Thanks guys for an excellent dinner with my lady.
First timers. Waitress was really nice and polite. Gave us good service. It was soo good
10 out of 10. My boyfriend had the seafood tower and celebrated his 40th birthday. It was a amazing experience.
I ate here with my wife and sister-in-law. I had the gumbo, it is amazing. The portion was nice, none left over and felt full but not too much. Plenty of seafood, chicken and sausage. The two women also had dishes with shrimp. Strangely enough theirs werent shelled, even though they are the small shrimp. They need to rethink this. Only jumbo shrimp are worthwhile shelling at the table. This reduced their enjoyment.Back to mine; it had just enough heat to make it special but not enough to hurt. I asked for some Louisiana hot sauce, you probably know the brand. It added that special sweet heat they are known for. Made it even more special.I would have given 5 stars except for that shelling mistake. Youll know how to order. Give this place a try, you wont regret it.
With my brother for a memorable evening out. This place is legit! The real deal. If you’re looking for a fun, delicious night out with out of this world seafood, come to the Nugget Oyster Bar. Ask for LaLa. Pictures don’t lie..... take a look at my bouillabaisse.
Excellent service excellent food, Seafood Extravaganza with Dutch apple pie topped with ice cream 🍨 the seafood was delicious!!
Went before dinner rush so it was not busy. Room was dark, hot and stuffy. After a 10 minute wait the waitress attempted to take our food order but we never received drinks. She seemed annoyed that we asked questions about the menu. Wine tasted like it was kept under a warmer my husbands drink so strong it tasted like straight liquor. All dinners here are steamed, poached or boiled, I was hoping for something grilled. Cream soups are kept on a warmer which makes them grainy.. Ordered the seafood platter it reminded me of a bland soup. For $30 a plate I was hoping for something more impressive. The only thing season was the crab and it was very much over salted. I only gave this review a star because the host went above and beyond to make a dish recommendation, checked on us when our waitress never brought our drinks again and to find our check because she dropped food and never came back. I dont understand how this place has so many good reviews.
Lobster bisque and the clan chowder were delicious. Accompanied by fresh soft sourdough bread.
Very bad experience, we had a lunch reservation for 11am. So we were the 3rd table seated, it wasnt busy. We ordered Soup, Calamari, fries, and a crab feast platter(steamed). 20 minutes later our fries and calamari came out. The waitress then told us they are not serving the soup they already let us ordered, so we dropped it off our order. Fries were not great, the calamari was good. Our platter came out after an hour, noon, our fries and calamari were long finished. Our platter of crab was completely cold, it was not streamed. So we sent it back to be properly streamed. At 1215 we are served the crab pictured below. It was completely over cooked and chewy. This was the worst crab we have ever had. The service was very poor also the waitress seemed to be short with us every time she came by. Very sad experience, I wish it would of been good. I will never go back to eat here.
Im glad that we ended up here for dinner. Be sure you make a reservation. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Even when we were asked to wear our mask, until our first beverage or food was served. We gladly obliged. The prices are right. The food is delicious! The atmosphere is welcoming. The nautical theme fits in well. Our server was great. We will be returning. -Regina
So good, definitely worth a visit. Oysters were amazing so were was the shrimp louie.
Reno/Sparks, Nevada. The service here is a failure. Terrible. The worse service in the entire state of Nevada. It took them appx five minutes to seat me. I get shoved into the corner. Fine. Cool.Ten minutes later no wait staff. Nothing.15 minutes later, still no wait staff.18 minutes later, I gave up.Rather than leave the hotel, I just called oyster bar while I am sitting in the corner inside of the restaurant and placed my phone order...I am eating my food now in a Togo container and plastic utensils. I am unsure if the host desk understood that I am sitting inside the restaurant or not.Either way, once I get my food, I will return to my corner, eat in peace and smoke a cigar.Otherwise Northern Nevada has been kind.
Good food and super friendly staff! Theyre all so helpful toward everyone and one another its a very positive and relaxing atmosphere.I ordered a shrimp cocktail, cup of clam chowder(white), and a chicken sandwich with salad instead of fries. I intended to mostly sample everything and save the sandwich for later. The cocktail was great and sauce was yummy, and the chowder was so good! They even had the "good ranch" for you ranch dressing peeps out there. Dessert I told her I was thinking about the creme brulee since I havent tried it before, she said shed make one just for me to try; I totally loved it!
One of the friendliest restaurants in Reno. The staff goes above and beyond to make sure you have a memorible experience, no matter if you are solo dinning at the bar or a table of four or up to ten or more. The food is always fresh and delicious, hot or cold you will love it time after time. The consistency ROCKS!! here , even the fried food is fried to perfection. Oh and you better save room for dessert, because your mind will be blown all over again.
What a great place for seafood, had big appetizer "Shellfish bounty for two."lobster, crab leggs, shrimp half dozen oysters. Then added dozen oysters very good. Then dinner was Seafood Extravaganza and the Creole gumbo!! Wow gumbo was perfect. This an great ol fashion place to eat. Superior staff on top of everything. I only eat here for dinner when in town. Forgot take pictures of appetizers was too hungry. But took pictures of our dinner dishes. Never been there gotta go. It in the nugget casino.Almost forgot to add the dessert. We had "Vanilla Creme brulee" best ever had!!
Honestly, I expected more from Oyster Bar. Shrimps and lobster tail tasted like they were cooked yesteday or were defrosted. Oysters were dry. And only crab legs were nicely sliced in halves and tasted awesome (but you can not practicaly break the taste even if you buy them in store). Although service and servings were good.
