Historic Shinto shrine with a grand entry gate featuring stained glass, a large garden & a pond.
Beautiful shrine! Worth a visit!
Came here for New Year’s countdown on my trip in Kanazawa. Very beautiful in the winter.
Really beautiful place. Lucky I caught it in the snow
Neat shrine with unique architecture right across from Kanazawa Castle Park
Very nice place for a stroll from the main city and near Kenrokuen park. Nice view inside
Beautiful place, even when its raining
Nice place. Quiet, and of course you can pray and receive fortunes or talismans for protection. The structures have a lot of detail, so look up at them. Enjoy the quiet pond too, but be careful of the mosquitoes!
Built in 1599, Oyama Shrine is a Shinto shrine located in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan. The main gate was constructed in 1875 and incorporated Japanese, Chinese and European religious architectural elements. The Dutch stained-glass windows on the third floor are especially unique. Free admission and has a beautiful Japanese garden.
Beautiful and interesting place !!! I would love to return here. I got lucky charms from here.
This season is popular for shichigosan, celebrations of 7 years old children in Japan. They are wearing kimono and taking photos
one of the most famous shrine around here. the landscape of its garden was so beautiful. pond surrounded stone and wood bridges.
The shrine has a pond to the side of it. Above the pond is a small bridge and steps that allow you to walk over it and walk through and around the pond in a very serene way.Its very calming to be able to immerse yourself with the water all around you.
This shrine on top of a small hill is worth a visit when youre in Kanazawa for the day. Make sure not to forget your stamp book!
Nice and quite place, very recommended if you come to Kanazawa.
Kinda have to pass through here if you are heading towards the Kanazawa castle park or Kenrokuen so I swung by for a quick look =)
Purifying. Its nice to be in the same place as Toshiie Maeda Daimyo (Lord- feeling very special n historical. Art deco gate is nice too.
Beautiful shrine with a lot of great photo ops. Beautiful little Oasis in the middle of the city.
Calm and simple of Japanese garden. We take 30 mins for a good feeling of details in decoration. Beautiful.
Interesting architecture, but theres other shrines I like better in Kanazawa, personally. Oyama can feel a little kitschy at times. Still a nice downtown place though. Maybe its just personal preference.
Always love to visit different shrines .. peaceful and feels good.
I have been to Kanazawa Castle many times but I somehow have never been to this shrine despite it being fairly close by. I am so glad that I finally visited. The shrines facade has very interesting architecture, and the pond inside is just lovely. The area around the shrine also has a few cute cafes, so it looks like a nice place to spend an afternoon.
Pretty astounding place.. Some the local are nice because is far away from capital.. The people here tend to more relax..
Nice little shrine on the same path of Kanazawa Castle. Worth a detour. A bit crowdy on the weekend.but could have some surprise ceremony happening..
Beautiful place, theres a wedding going on. How nice that is!
Visited on the way back to the hotel. Was about twilight and the was quiet compared to the street I had just stepped off from. Worth a stop off at
While walking to Korimbo from Omicho market you find this shrine with a modern gate. And can pass it away as it does not look like any other shrines I had seen before. However as you enter the premise, you find a quiet place to pray for you prosperity and luck. time spend no more than 15 min
Very nice place with a multicoloured, stained glass window spire type building. I went in the evening when the sun was going down and the view from the main steps was breathtaking.
Very pleasant and relaxing place to visit. Close to the castle grounds and public transport.
Oyama shrine has this special gate that posses an amalgamation of the Dutch-European and Japanese architectural style. There is a very nice strolling garden with ponds and bridges near the shrine, which is said to represents harps and lutes.
Very quiet and holly place to visit. but western shrine with stained glasses
After going to Kanazawa castle and one of the exhibits referencing it we made a point to stop when we were out. It was very beautiful with many interesting features. I think we spent about an hour sitting and wandering even though the space is small there were lots of angles to appreciate.
Nice Shrine but you will see more beautiful places in Kanazawa.
Cute little shrine. Was lucky to come during the annual festival to see a karate demonstration.
Amazing! Beautiful shrine, has a nice garden with a few statues as well. Very recommended. Close to the samurai district area.
It’s not as sounded and scaled as famous temples, but the hybrid style building and well-maintained garden make it a worth-to-go. I personally think this’s the best place to start exploring Kanazawa area.
Very nice area that the shrine is located in. The small pond with the wooden path / bridge going through it is nice. Great place for fall foliage viewing within the city.
Admission is free here. This is a very nice and small shrine. Beautiful and very peaceful place to visit. It has huge fishes and ducks in the pond. You can actually go in the middle if the pond and see the fishes swimming underneath you. It has pine trees also. Less crowded place. Very scenic, must visit place and very near to Kanazawa castle park. So, both can be easily covered together.
The architecture was nice. I was also surprised to see a statue of a man riding a hose — not something I’ve seen while in Japan. It was actually Maeda Toshiie, a leading general from Japan’s history.
Very nice typical and beautiful and quite ponds and gardens. Lovely.
Absolutely magnificent temple, in the heart of Kanazawa. The sight across the windows is beautiful, the trees and nature offer a nice breath compared to all the concrete around the city.I totally recommend it.
Amazing and authentic shrine. I always love the ancient one. It tells more story. Recommended to be here around 15-30 minutes. In front of the shrine you may try the kanazawa pork cutlet curry. I love it
This Shinto Shrine is very popular and cultrual. The main hall is beautifully decorated. The garden attached is nice.
Very Good Temple and Shrine the Architecture is awesome
The architecture of this shrine is very different from others in Japan in that it has some Western influences. Also, there are some interesting statues on the grounds along with a Japanese garden with wooden plank bridges over the ponds. Its worth visiting if youre in the area.
Picturesque when I visited last Autumn
Truly not to miss if in Kanazawa. Absolutely gorgeous small walkable garden surrounds the very unique Oyama Jinja. There are beautiful statues of Maeda Clan family members and plenty of unique charms to purchase. I started every day of my two weeks in Kanazawa with a walk through this exceptionally beautiful place.
Fantastic looking shrine with a decent sized grounds. On the edge of Castle park. Nice little walk round route on top of the small water feature gives a nice little extra.
Dont be fooled by its humble gate. Once get in, youll be amazed at how large such a garden can be at the very heart of a big city
I went at sunset. The light on the stained glass was beautiful. Hands down my favorite site in Kanazawa.
Beautiful shrine, not as well kept as some of the others but there is a lot less tourists here and the water garden is a treat to enjoy, worth a look in if you are passing as there is no charge for looking around.
