Oxford Island Nature Reserve - Nature reserve in Craigavon, United Kingdom
Fantastic walk Plenty of wild life and floral to see
Lovely area. However the cafe was was too expensive. The cafe staff was very rude, they need some sort of training on how to deal with a customers, it felt like I had burdened them, Very disappointing.
Good playground for the kids to run around. Lots of things to do in the forest walk.
Beautiful area. Huge play area for kids and lovely hiking trails.
Stopped here to break up the journey west. Nice place to sit and enjoy our lunch (pre-packed). Unfortunately the visitor centre is closed, so no access to facilities. The bins around the area were overflowing with lots of rubbish on the ground, due the council strike.
Excellent facilities, clean and staff are friendly. The new play park is excellent and very popular. Some lovely walks and an excellent location for a good run.The one issue and the one that took away the 5th star is the hot food. The sausages are very obviously of the lowest standard possible and chips are little better. Dont go for the hot food please.
The environment center was not open and the water is not recommended for swimming but the park and views were nice
lovely little reserve by the great lake but other than a walk around the discovery center and along the pier there isnt really much to do. there is a great kids play area through so it is good for kids
Great place for any outdoor activities including water sports, plenty parking.
Excellent place for a bbq or picnic or just a dander and a really good play park for the kids
Great place to walk and look out over the Lough. There is a discovery centre with a cafe and a really good play park.
Great place to get out and walk along the shores of Lough Neagh in county Armagh. Lots of parking available, picnic spots, playgrounds, walking trails, space for water sports and relaxation. There is also the Lough Shore Information Tourist Centre for anyone who fancies learning about the sites wildlife and history. Recommend walking to Kinnego Bay Marina and then heading back towards the Oxford Island Tourist Information Centre for anyone who likes a reasonably long walking experience
One of the places people forget about. If you are not from the local area and are near by then definitely worth a visit! Some beautiful scenery and walks. Great for kids, adults and let friendly.
Needs maintenance to both jettys , needs picnic tables replacing , some of the steps in the woods are a bit unsafe , basically needs some money spending on upkeep. But that aside , as a haven for wildlife it succeeds , I saw some species Ive not seen elsewhere a miniature duck im not sure of their species name (a breeding pair& great crested grebe .
Lovely walk around Oxford island. Lots of picnics benches around this area on the walk way.
Always good to go swimming here
Beautiful place. Nature at its best 😍 great for all the family
Lovely spot for a walk. Perfect for birdwatching. Plenty of car parking available and toilets in the visitor centre.
Very impressed with the range at the cafe here, gluten free and vegan options meant I got a nice treat with my coffee.
Great reserve with walking trails, a marina and a cafe at the visitor center. It is beautiful and the walking trails along the lake make it a welcome retreat. The one boat ramp is closed and inoperable. Take your time and walk around and enjoy nature. It was windy when we enjoyed it but the weather was sunny and beautiful. Picnic tables and barbecue area for all to enjoy!
Plenty of activity over the weekend in both the Marina and further up at the Discovery Centre. Once the (Mayflies have disappeared the air becomes breathable again. Cafe at both locations, also electric car chargers.Toilets and washing facilities as well. Great spot for the kids with swings again at both locations. The NEW activity park at Discovery Centre is as good as they get. Plenty of Woodland walks also.
Beautiful area of woodland and the lough is gorgeous on a sunny day. Great for nature and the surroundings areas with plenty to do for the kids.
They have this Amazing park for kids. Desperately need toilets near the park. The discovery centre closes at 1800. need a coffee hut even food trucks..like at gosford park. We all had to leave at 1900 bevause the kids needed the toilet and needed fed!!!
Lovely place for walking if you dont mind the flies. Great Volkswagen display each year..well worth going
Fantastic place...lots of space for the kids to run...a large play park and cafe/toilets all in close proximity....great for picnics also and a reasonable amount of parking bays
Lovely spot for the kids. New play park is amazing. Good toilet facilities. Big downside is the cafe - location is amazing and its a real pity they havent made more of it. But food was terrible. Bring a picnic!
Great place to spend time with kids. There is a new playground there now. Looks really nice. Cafe could be open longer hours as in cold days it would be great to take a sit there and watch birds. This is the only reason no 5 stars.
Lovely park, beautiful surroundings. Big distances for walking. Make sure you take a hat, bit windy over there.
Love this place! Space for everyone, lovely walks and you can go for a swim!
Lovely and clean area with a great playpark and beautiful walking trails
Great place for a walk, a dip in the Lough and great for the dog and its free. There are two cafes, one at the Marina and one at the discovery centre. Really clean and decently priced food.
Havnt been here in over 40 years a beautiful spot very enjoyable to walk around and wasnt overly busy. Quite a few cold water swimming which we had a laugh at 😁😁 definitely be back 😁
Great little escape onto the water a few weekends ago. Perfect for some entry level paddle boarding with plenty to see and relatively steady water.
When its the holiday season this place is packed with everyone seemingly coming for bbqs and chilling out, it has water sport facilities but if you are late there is no point coming here at all.
Lovely place, the wood walk is really good. Very much recommended for families
Great family day out. Lots of walks through woodland and round lough neagh. Caravan site and cafe also. Play park for kids.
Beautiful place and lots of things for the kids to do
Excellent interesting walks all around, safe and well looked after, cant wait for this pandemic to be over so it can be enjoyed properly.
Beautiful place for a leisurely stroll. Trails are good, although stoney would be suitable for single buggy. Play park looked popular.
Such an ideal little spot to relax and take in the tranquility and peacefulness of the lough. Come for a wee bit and stay for a day. You cant but help love this place.
Lovely place to relax, nice views of Lough Neagh and good walks.
It was okay. Didnt go to the marina or avail of any indoor activities though Im not sure what they were. Couldnt find nice walk though I think there is one up to marina. Theres a playpark and couple of people paddle boarding. Loads of Lough flies too, though probably typical for May/June. Not sure Ill be rushing back here. But glad I checked it out. Best thing was wee baby ducks we happened to see
Beautiful scenery, long enough trail for a decent walk. Plenty of parking. Visited in time to see the bluebells flowering.
Love to take my dogs for a walk to Oxford Island. Fully recommended for a visit!
Beautiful spot when the sun is out. Great views and lots of birdsong. Limited facilities at the moment but definitely a good place for a nature walk.
Oxford Island nature reserve, the Discovery centre and Kinnego marina make up one combined area for walking, water sports and bird watching. Its located off the M1 at junction 10. There are various places to park and you need to give yourself about 2 hours to cover the whole area. Theres toilet facilities, a cafe, childrens play areas, a caravan site and glamping pods.
A great place to cycle. It has good trails and nice views. Would usually cycle here during good weather with friends. I would recomend it for cycling enthusiasts or for someone who just wants to be outdoors.ps. Just observe covid 19 protocols though.😁
Just love this place, great walks, wildlife and beautiful scenery....go soon if you havent already youll not regret it
Nice place to relax.. Peaceful atmosphere.. Really good for children as well..
Brilliant place to go on your own or with groups of children, just to get outside. Lots of little paths to follow and wildlife to look for.
