Owerri Zoo - Zoo in Elele, Nigeria
Omo the Zoo was fun, it was my first time ever in a zoo and I had lots of fun and also got to see a lion and other wild animals for the very first time
Nekede zoo is along old road in Nekede, Imo state. It is the only zoo in South East and South South. Gate fee is N500 per adult. The zoo features a museum where you will see some of the skin and skeletons of animals that used to be in the zoo.The zoo was established well over 20 years ago with some of the rarest kind of animals. For the first time, I saw a real life Edi Abali. The biggest python Ive ever seen was here too.At the time of visit, I saw some other animals like crocs, lions, ostriches, baboons, monkeys and a few more animals. The road to the zoo was horrible, but I had a good time regardless. You should visit this museum someday before it stops existing.
Needs more animals to make the zoo more interesting place to visit..
I was hoping to see more animals but I just saw few
I love everything about it
Cool as usual
I was wowed today, first time there it was fun for me
Gate fee to see at the Zoo #500 both adults & children.Horse ride #200There is a place inside the zoo that sales light refreshments. The #Owerrizoo is located at old nekede road. Not populated on Sundays.Good to get a tour guide to show you around. To drive Thomas below #500List to instructions. Never wake a sleeping animal or feed them. There is a file for that. There is 3 #Lions there.I found two bush babies.Ask for to see a guy monkey πNice place to take picture.Suya guy is at the entrance.Take a visit alone or with ur kids. Will love to revisit if you call me.Pls adhere to instructions.
Environment needs serious improvement. It was rather bushy and dirty.
African animals were very much missing in Owerri zoo, in contrast to other zoos I had seen. Most of the animals were caged, animals were not able to move freely as in their natural habitat. Poorly treated and fed.
Poor infrastructure and very few animals
Good but are lacking some animals
It has been more than seven years since I last visited the Owerri zoo. Today everything as I knew it has totally changed. Now theres a museum with lots of specially preserved animal specimen positioned inside with well grounded attendants to guide you all through. The entry fee however was a bit on the high side, five hundred for kids while a thousand for adults.A lot has changed in management though which is impressive. Very interesting place for families, friends and organisations. Pop in some timeπ
First of all praise the Lord Jesus Christ. An ok place to take your wife and children or friends and family. They have lions, hyenas, big pythons, monkeys, ostrich, and more. Recreational activities are not emphasized in Nigeria enough, but this was nice to see. Thank you Jesus.UPDATE: I VISITED THIS ZOO AGAIN ON 24/12/2021. IT IS NOW AN EYE SORE. THE ANIMALS ARE NOT BEING FED PROPERLY. THE PLACE IS DILAPIDATED. THEY BLAME THE STATE GOVERNMENT FOR LACK OF FUNDING, BUT PART OF IT IS LACK OF CARE. I FEEL FOR THE ANIMALS BECAUSE THEY ARE SUFFERING, YOU CAN COUNT THE BONES ON SOME OF THE ANIMALS. BASICALLY ALOT OF THEM ARE MALNOURISHED AND NEAR DEATH. I WAS EXPECTING A CROWDED PLACE WHEN I CAME ONLY TO SEE A COUPLE GUESTS MOVING AROUND. THIS PLACE WAS LIKE A GHOST TOWN. ITS A SHAME NIGERIA DOES NOT CARE FOR PARKS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. PLEASE DEMOLISH THIS ZOO AND DO SOMETHING BETTER WITH THE LAND SINCE THE ANIMALS CANNOT BE WELL CARED FOR.
It was good
It needs more funding as to increase the wildlife experience. The attendants are pretty educated on the history of each animals and its very educative.
Exciting place to visit, I saw a lion for the first time, a lot of dead Animals thoughNeeds replacement
Amazing
The Owerri zoo has quite a number of animals and they all seem to be in good healthy and fairly well taken care of, thereβs a lot of improvement that can be done on the general environment of the zoo, properly planned out areas, maintenance and more activities beyond just coming to see the animals. The museum needs to do better with preserving the artifacts in there.
There are variety of animals in this zoo. I like to hang out with friends there, however, the management needs to get more wild animals
Was happy to see a zoo in owerri. Its not very well kept but somewhat managing. The animals were in OK health.
Its was fun for the children visiting the place
There are more animals than the last time i came.I wish the management will improve the animals exhibits
Not the best kept zoo, but they had more than i expected. The snakes are definitely the best part.
Owerri zoo is fun to visit ad dey hv lots of animals in d Zoo
Nice and wonderful environment to hang out. I wont forget to mention that there are wide range of animals too. However, I look forward to see hippos and gorillas
It was very amazing,U will see many animals, its a good adventureA place where u can take your family to go and see.Kudos to Honr. Ihedioha for the support to the place
It was so great, i and my children enjoyed it
Its so beautiful.. they have a museum also
It was a great and awesome experience being there.
It was serene today, light patronage and very polite staff, however there are signs that the maintenance has been poor. The animal coverage is on the low side too, snakes being conspicuously absent. The good news is that work is currently ongoing at the zoo so we expect that services will be upgraded soonest.
By Gods grace I will
Lovely services, lovely animals. You should visit there yourself
Owerri Zoo is very well maintained, small zoo. Good for children of all ages and adults alike. Lots of trees and other vegetation creating nice shadowed areas. I could have spent hours watching the monkeys, Ostriches, lions and crocodiles. It was not crowded at all. We had a very nice visit, recommended.
Owerri Zoo is making all effort to preserve/protect wild lives. With collective effort we can make it a tourist site.
it was a nice experience. I saw some animals life for the first time in my life. It was wonderful being at the zoo
A good Leisure and relaxation spot perfect for individual and group Hangouts. Contains a miniature Zoo teeming with wildlife as well as preserved history.
The zoology garden is a decent place to hang out.
Was nice.. Though the Animals are kinda few
Its good π π π
I love the place it nice and cool place
This historic zoological garden is crying for attention. Still lush green with its natural environment but the few species surviving need urgent feeding
On the average, its a nice tourist destination. But more animals should be introduced.
Not too bad...Although most of their facilities are gone.
No elephant. Theres Lion, reptiles, various apes, python, ostrich, etc
Nice place, educative but needs a better organization
It was an awesome experience, I will like to go there over and over again. They have these unique staff, try them if you have not been there.
I was quite impressed with what i saw here.Itching for another visit with family or friends.
I enjoy here always with my friend mostly playing table tennis
Points for having a functional Zoo, not many states managed to keep their zoos, but this zoo at least still has something going for it.
