Dominican Hill Rd, Baguio, 2600 Benguet, Philippines, Baguio
Located on a hillside, this Catholic shrine & pilgrimage site features a statue of the Virgin Mary.
This is place very special for the catholic like me going up to the top of Our lourdes is worth it to pay our devotion to Jesus
As a point of interest, the Lourdes grotto really focuses on the extensive stairs going up Dominican Hill. Its supposed to be a test of ones faith and perseverance going up and down. Once youre up there, theres a chapel as well as an area where you can light candles and give a donation before offering a prayer to the statue of the Virgin Mary.
A must during visita de eglesia .A place to exercise those muscles ๐
Quick climb up where you can look at Marys statue and the commandments of the Bible on a stone. Cant light candles anymore though and there are no flowers for sale in the area. Next to this is a small chapel thats quiet, outside of which are more chairs under a shade where you can take a break. Theres a nearby restroom too, and the wind blows nicely up these parts. Its an easy to miss spot if youre in a hurry and dread the stairs, but just the wind and the view from the top is roughly an equivalent exchange for that effort to see it under the sun.
Serene place. Very long stairs if youre going up to walk from the bottom. You have also an option to ride up to the top as there are various parking spaces.
A morning walk to the Grotto is refreshing. You can also try the Eco-trail of Mirador surrounding the Grotto, if you love nature. You can also carry your own picnic baskets or a bottle of water. There were kubos and spots where you can sit and rest, take a photo or just simply breathe the fresh air from the trees and plants. Oh, bring a 100 peso bill per person. Thats for your entrance to Mirador. Have fun! ๐ Below are some of the flowers that youll find inside Mirador.
The place it seems no one could clean. Disgusting, the smell of every cage is untreatable. The water at the CR section is not reachable, and the toilet is so dirty... I dont know what happen.
Very pristine and well-kept! Definitely lives up to its name, eco and spiritual park. There are different stations, statues, and even a small chapel to reconnect with God and Mama Mary.
My first experiences of staying in Baguio City...during that year, I attended a retreat at the top of Our Lourdes Grotto...since then, I never forget of passing in this place. Eventhough it was my 5th time last 2017...I will remain love to visit Baguio.
If youre a Catholic, you may find this place interesting. I dont belong to any organized religion, thus its not my cup of tea to climb up the stairs. A few snaps of photo from my dashboard was enough.
You have 2 options to see Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto: first by taking the stairs and the other drive up by car. There are parking lots from other establishments and the start of the stairs and we simply asked for permission if we can park in for a period of time.We did not know the entrance or way to the vehicle option, hence we went through the stairs. It was more or less 250 steps but felt like more. There are quick stops where you can take a rest and appreciate the angel structures. At the top is the huge grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, a candle offering area and a small chapel where you can sit, reflect, pray and listen to nature. We took the staircase back down to our car and grabbed some strawberry ice cream. The place is clean and with a clean restroom as well.
Another place that you should not miss when you take your trip to the summer capital city. Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto will nkt only fill your eyes full with the scenery but also connects your spirits to our Creator. Make sure to be ready to take the steps to reach the top. Aside visiting the shrine you can definitely spend your time in Mirador Eco park which is at the side of the hill.
When in Baguio:Religious tourist spot. Must endure 252 steps to the top of the hill to reach the grotto
Shrine created by the Jesuits. It now has a chapel near the grotto, and as always, after a long hike up its stairs, the view on top is amazing. Say a little prayer to Mama Mary when you get there.
Its my 4th time to visit the place.. I will visit the again and again
Every single thing is to pay for... And they rudely asked us to leave just because we brought our dogs out for a walk with us. My dogs were leashed and had diapers, but instead without warning they told us to leave. How rude.
The place was under construction when we visited but we just went there to pray so it didnt really bother us that much. The main stairs were closed so we had to walk around near the eco park. Havent tried that part yet but it seems good to do so. The grotto itself is clean and quiet. The chapel looks so amazing. My girlfriend and I both thought it would be the perfect place to hold a wedding. Though were not sure if they do. Anyway, worth the visit.
The Lourdes Grotto is a catholic shrine and place of prayer and meditation located on Mirador Hill in the western part of Baguio City. Inside the grotto is a statue of Our Lady of Lourdes. To reach the shrine the visitor must climb 252 steps. Only a ride from the central business district. Its reachable by jeepneys and taxi if you dont have a car.
If you want a long walk with more steps in the stairs this is really for you because aside from exercise you can feel the coolness of air from the mountains around you.I wanna go back again here.
there is something new.for the public.besides the stairway of the grotto. a pathway made of stones . surroundings are large stones. and some bamboo treesa small area. but with good scenery and photoshoot background for the fb enthusiasts.
We have to climb (forgot how manyand witness the amazing view of baguio from the top
You can either drive up to it and walk a flight of stairs or start from the bottom and climb all the way up. The view up here is nice, one can simply relax after the long climb up or pray in front of the shrine, light up a candle or go to the small chapel. Its one of things you have to do if youre up here in Baguio City.
Wow, what an amazing & beautiful place to visit! We only had about 3 hours there to see the sights and everything we saw was awe inspiring!!! I wished we had more time there, but with our train schedule, we saw what we could. I would recommend spending at least 5 or 6 hours there, so you donโt have to rush! We bought very cute Holy Water containers in the village and filled them up at the grotto! The water is free! We enjoyed an ice cream while there too! Lots of cute souvenir shops too! Magical!!!! ๐น
Baguio experience is not complete without visiting this famous place of worship. You can either take the stairs in going up or take your car up to the designated level where you can still climb the remaining steps to the shrine. Had my first visit when I was still in grade school and it still holds the same mystery to me.
Place of worship with a total of about 257 steps if youre really starting from the bottom.
If you are looking for a place to jog especially in the morning. This might be a good place to consider. The place is very safe for jogging
Good place for a jog or a hike. God view at the top. Tourist rush at seasonal. Also some of its good points are the buko vendor, taho vendor, and souvenir shops. Some spots, like a famous plant near the toilets, are very notorious, for its snarky, lewd name that locals might have thought its amusing. Great souvenir shops and food shops nearby. Taxi can be a little difficult to get here.
Very nice.. still the same as what i remember when I went there when Im still a little kid. Though now there is a chapel at the left side.
It was my first time going here even though its not my first time going to Baguio. A very solemn place to reflect. I went there as early as 8am and there wasnt too many people that time, not to mention it was a weekday. I didnt mind climbing the 200 steps but I definitely rested halfway through the grotto. There are flowers and candle vendors before going up but I chose to buy candles up at the grotto wherein you drop your donation and just get a set of colored bundle of candles. It wasnt hard going there. But I wasnt able to find where to ride the jeepney going there so I just took a cab. I found the jeepney going back to the market though.
A perfect place to pray and at the same time to take photos and enjoy the view from top.
If you are with an elderly, you can actually go to their parking space(topso you will only have few steps to go to get to the Lady of Lourdes
It was our first time to visit the place. It has an aura of sacredness despite the area being crowded with devotees and tourists. The chapel provides a sanctuary where people can slip for a moment and say their prayers. I just hope that the visitors refrain from taking pictures right outside the entrance of the chapel because there is a tendency to forget that silence should be observed, or better yet to take pictures without disturbing the peace and quiet of the chapel.
Our Lady of Lourdes GrottoThis is a Catholic shrine and pilgrimage site assigned to Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto, located on Dominican Hill Road Baguio, Philippines. The site also features a statue of Virgin Mary and close by is another statue of Jesus Christ. The shrine is reached after climbing 250 steps beautifully laid down in natural settings. A road has also been constructed which takes right upto the top.
Perfect place to pray. Its like ur near to heaven already. I hope this will turn to a solemn place not just a photo op for visitors.
Had a great experience despite of the battle in stairs haha. Up and we go ...still cant believe i made it to the top. Its a great experience. Thank you mama Mary i know you pushed me up.
You need to climb atleast a hundred of step or you may park your car at the top. HeheheNice view of the capital.
Theres not much to it. You can get a view of Baguio but you can get good view from other places that dont require a long trip. What makes it bad is the overly persistent women selling flowers and candles. They cant take no for an answer and there are loads of them all over the place. Its supposed to be a holy and peaceful place but they disturb that supposed serenity. It is smelly and dirty with a lot of discarded waste from the food vendors, no public dustbins. Not worth the trip. By the way, Im an atheist so those of a more religious nature may find this place more inspiring.
Our Baguio trip will not be complete without dropping by to this place. We love the view and the feeling every time we get to reach the top by climbing those stairs. Its tiring yet fun!
Although the stairway is tiring, the place is peaceful and quite nice to reflect and pray.
It is now more of a tourist spot than someplace religious. It is a awesome workout to get to the top.
If you are travelling with a senior citizen, kindly inform the parking attendants and they will allow you to bring your car on the top road near the grotto shrine. Before leaving, 20php will be collected at the parking area as parking fee.
Very cool place to visit. Super challenging to get to the top - something like 400 steps. At the top they have a nice shrine and small chapel. The views from the top show much of Baguio!
When in Baguio, this holy tourist destination is a must to see. The Lourdes Grotto is another Catholic shrine and place of meditation in Baguio. It is located on a high hill in the western part of the city where you will find the image of the Lady of Lourdes. The visions were declared authentic by the Pope in 1862 and this also led to the authorization of the cult of Our Lady of Lourdes. How many steps does it have? 252 steps.
A solemn place to visit when youre in Baguio. You have to climb at least 200 steps before you get to the Grotto. Theres not much but enough for those who want to say their prayers.
A very solemn place to pray and worship in Baguio.
Catch your breath while you still can! 200+ steps to reach to Mama Marys grotto. The best place to pray and meditate at the chapel. ๐
It is just a calm place - not crowded and I can hear the beat of my spirit. It is a place where I can reflect myself away from the crowded Metro Manila, I can breath fresh & spiritual air & see myself for a moment.
opens @ 6:00AM, most of us take a walk for exercise, some are offering prayer and candle!
Pay a visit to this religious site in Baguio City. There were sellers of candles, religious items, food and pasalubong on your way up. Candles are also available near the image of Our Lady of Lourdes and its cheaper.P.S. Do some stretching before going up! 252 steps. ๐
The stairs is a great exercise (not only physically but also spiritually). There are rose vendors so you can buy fresh roses from them for your love ones too.
