Oum Hashem Restaurant in Luxor

The food (roasted chickenis nice but the portion is small.And if you ask for English menu, be ready to pay more than Arabic one. It’s so common when you travel in countries like Egypt and Morocco, which is a shame 🥲And the waiter was trying to ask for service charge and taxes which isn’t the case at all here.The food in photo that we pay for 280EGP, more pricey than a McDonald’s meal here 😂

The main dish was good but the side dishes like salads and rice i didnt liked

This was our first proper meal in Luxor and it was delicious, the best food I had on my whole trip was here. I still remember it. It was light, fresh and not heavy on the stomach, the salad was so refreshing I love it so much and the tahini. The restaurant was very comfortable and it didnt look like much tourists attended this place. Ofcourse everyone thought we were Egyptian so we had to tell them to give us the English menu lol.I would definitely recommend this place if youre looking for delicious food. 😋

Stay away from this tourist trap. If you do choose to go in, just know that they will put food in front of you that you didnt order so they can charge more. The bill will be more than you spent as well - so triple check that and their credit card machine will not work. Also, be aware that there are 2 menus - one tourist and one local.

Huge tourist trap!!We were recommended this place by a local who awkwardly stayed at the restaurant through our entire meal. They tried to put things on the table that we specifically said we did not want to order and then tried to charge us the wrong amount on the bill. To top it off when we tried to pay they told us the card machine had mysteriously broken and the "generous local" (who awkwardly stayed the whole timetried to pay the bill and take us to the ATM after.Avoid this whole situation at all costs. Very uncomfortable experience.

Almost got sick from this place every thing tasted old and that it was done days before and just reheated

Scam!!! Tourist avoid.They have separate menu for tourist which x2 for English reading people, rude waiters, pathetic food, burnt chicken. They will tell different rates but at the time of billing they charge u more. Must avoid.

Fantastic experience thanks for the staff many restaurants in Luxor bear the same name also near to each other the best one called "New Om Hashim restaurant.

Tourists, avoid this spot!They have two separate menus where they charge tourists double the price and provide you with half the portion!The food was mehh and the service was atrocious! They took great care in giving me the grilled chicken with all the bones in it and to also burn it up really well ensuring that I can barely chew it 👍😤The waiters are rude and just look at you as a walking dollar 🤦‍♂️Whats wrong with doing honest business, I dont know, but avoid unless you want to give them free money 🤷‍♂️

Now Oum Hashem has a new place next to the old one but wider and much more comfortable and the food still taste so good and is nicely done

Very very very good food. I visited this restaurant twice during my staying in Luksor.

If youre a tourist and reading this, BEWARE! they have 2 separate menus with different prices. They also dont give you the full menu as a tourist and try to charge you for extra items that are already included. They charge tourists 14% tax and locals or Egyptians do not pay this. Food was so so but the customer service and treatment was atrocious. The waiter literally asked me for a tip as if begging. Unfair treatment and I wouldnt go back.

I order for Spaghetti and mince meat, the waiter brought just the spaghetti only in sauce. When they brought my cheque, I was billed for the mincemeat be careful when paying for your order.

jan 2022 ام هاشم الاصلىWhen I asked the local people about good and clean resturant several people recommend Oum Hashem to me there is a more than restaurant carry this name but this one is the original one as per them also from our luck it was just open a new dinning hall in the front of the old restaurant.The restaurant wasnt crowded at this time 5 pm the food come within 15 to 20 minIt was so delicious and really I liked it the packed beef with onion was stunning and also the grilled chicken, they put a fresh and nice salad , pickles and tehinaThe portion of food is good and enough to make you full tank 🙂Stuff are ok and polite , prices also moderate and not that expensive.There is clean toilet well maintained.If I come to luxor definitely I will try it again.

Very good restaurant Égyptien and good price

We came here at the suggestion of a well trusted guide. It was a nice experience and not overly pricey. We also were given a free salad which was absolutely amazing! Come to find out that there are two of these restaurants, the new one which is right around the corner, and this one. Apparently it is run by two brothers who are falling out and this is the better one. We had gone to the other one as well, and we agree that this one is better! Try this for a truly local experience. I don’t think other tourists come here much!

Food is good but price is high. They give you separate menus if your a tourist and another menu if youre local, I have seen this all over luxor why this discrimination!

The horrible waiter scammed us by almost doubling our bill. How impressive. I hate Luxor, I especially hate this stinky restaurant. Also this gps is wrong, the restaurant moved location, to the opposite side.

They are just no different than hustlers on the street. As foreigner, they just care about the money they can earn. Also they offer different menu for locals. Bad!

Tried their Turkish coffee after reading comments in Google, was charged 25LE per cup, considered very pricy for this type of street cafe, can get better ambiance from other cafes and restaurants nearby.

I tried this place some time ago and I like the taste of the food and the staff is efficient and friendly. The place is well known in Luxor for grilled food. Prices are reasonable and you will find value for money met.

Cosy local ambience and vibe similar to AL Hussain I Cairo one of the best Traditional Egyptian food in Luxor. Caters to locals more than tourist so expect straightforward service and an authentic experience.

Mixed experience. Went twice. The first time great attention and good food. One day later bad food and trying to massively overcharge us. Wouldnt repeat.

We are addicted to the kabob here. Fair prices and the chicken kabobs are delish. We also like the "vegetable" dish, which is more like a tomato based soup with potatoes and zucchini.

Tasty food in reasonable price. Staffs are well mannered. One staff is Ali, always smiling face with chivalry. He works there from 2PM till 2AM then he cleans tooms in Nefertiti hotel!!! So much struggle in his life but still he smiles and makes peoples day with his good manners!! Ma sha Allah, may Allah keeps him happy always.We ate pegeon fry with rice and Hawaishee (lamb meat stuffed thing)...Hawaishee was awesome. If you go there, try this.

Its a must for luxor. I have found the street food rather dirty and unhygienic in luxor. But my taxi driver recommended this place and it is amazing!!!!!!The other reviews are right. Waiters very friendly, and the grilled chicken... WOW!!!!!!!The restaurant is very clean, never a single worry about the hygiene and cleanliness of my food.
