Otay Valley Regional Park in Tijuana
Description
Dont come here at night
Nice hiking area around a resevoir
Nice but hot trails, not a lot of chances for shade. Lots of bikers that are not cautious of hikers.Best part is all the beautiful graffiti art in the underpass.
MoreWonderful trails to explore with lots of important history to read alongside. Well maintained close to paths but kinda interested to know what park and rec actually does? Because its a disaster out there (off path). Not only that but not once did I actually see anybody out walking.
MoreGreat walk. Dogs love it.
Love my close trail to hiking.
There used to be restrooms there . Not anymore so the trip was cut short and we left when he needed to use the restroom during our hiking trip.Nice place to go though. Quiet and private. Nature at its best .
MoreGreat selection of plants. We picked up some shrubs for our hedgerow.
Very nice place to go workout, run, jogging or just to get some fresh air and take in the natural scenery. Just stay away from the water its not very clean if you know what I mean
MoreBeautiful space to enjoy nature and walk my dog.
Good access good trails, goes all the way to Otay lake or go west to Coronado on the Strand bike trail , got to see the Beautiful Blue Heron they got like a 6 or 7 wing span iwasnst ready for him,no pic bathrooms and plenty of parking, oops new bike track !!!!?nice,Otay Valley park southbays Jewel for outdoor people
MoreNice place to go for a walk and/or bike ride. Feels haunted, especially near the underpasses.
MoreGreat place to take a walk, bicycle ride,or even jog. Very informational and beautiful. Would advise not to take pets. Lots of fleas and ticks.
MoreFrom the air its a great place too
Great trails and un expecting drops. high speed action when your in first , leader if you fallow.
MoreThis is a dopeass mtb spot, lots of assending and descending corners with two way traffic,I havent seen any jumps yet .the time I went on a weekday sunset there were very few people as well as enforcement so spark up .bahaha, the dirt is hardback with natural gravel gardens and sand pits, there are some baseball size rocks, and this can be a dangerous place after sundown due to unsavory people.
MoreIt seems like this park was made specifically for the residentially challengers, bicyclists taking shortcuts around the South Bay,,and couples without privacy at their own residence.Probably a great place to walk a dog if it’s not dark. There is a fishing pond just south of the Terra Bella Nursery west off Industrial and east of the I-5...There is a lot of dirt, mud , and even a little water...stay alert and expect the unexpected...
MoreNice hike. Hear ducks and wildlife around you. Relaxed atmosphere to take things slowly.
MoreNice family friendly trail.😷👍🔥
The trails here are abundant, lots of trees and bushes, many people have set up camps and some still present. A great place to get lost from time to time, or just do some birdwatching. Ive heard rumors and stories of people finding dead animals drained of blood, Ive found body parts and decapitated birds. This land has been a trail used by humans for over 7000 years, and filled with energy vortexs. Theres a strange presence which can be felt at times, perhaps spirits of undiscovered corpses or vampire victims. If anyone has a personal story they want to share, please contact me.
MoreDifferent types of trails for all types of bike riders ✌️👍
Very nice trail for walking and dogs for so close to the city. Its great that the city maintains porta potty at most trail entrances.
MoreLooking so much better impressed keep up the good work
Good scenery for a bike ride or just walking through.
Good hiking spot. Lots of graffiti to look at. The cholos there are not that aggressive, so you can enjoy a good Jay while you walk around.
MoreThe east park of the trail had lots of messy areas with garbage. The trail seems to be a good fit for mountain biking but not as great for hiking.
MoreLotta tweakers but its a nice place
A half mile stroll with high vegetation on both sides of the dirt trail. A lagoon which fills with rain water from the mountains.
MoreWe love hiking here... We go from the 805 freeway to the 5 freeway, and awesome 4 1/2 mile hike one way. Theres great sceneries, and amazing for mountain biking
MoreActually spent a great deal of time there. A beautiful park. The trails are decent and the landscape is somewhat maintained. The wildlife is abundant and the racoons are huge, they are very tame and are not frightened by people. The trash is a real downer but what can you do. Overall this is a GREAT PLACE TO HANG OUT!
MoreBeautiful place, one of the trails were washed out but I would definitely return again.
MoreMy favorite place for trail running and dog walking. Nice trails and several viewpoints. These trails used to be so overlooked and underserved and now there is no way of getting lost since every trail connects to another which leads to several trailheads. I havent seen a littering problem here and it seems that most of the people who visit here dont have a problem picking up after others waste when there is any. A hidden gem of the South Bay for sure.
MoreBesides the over growth and not well maintained trail, I love hiking here. I wish the trails were better maintained, but its still worth the walk and the views. Enjoy!
MoreHere are some trails after February rain 2019
Depending on which point you start at you can either just have a nice easy walk or a little more of a hike. This is a pretty dry area but there is a really pretty wild flower field at one point and a couple of bodies of water. At one point you even walk through the back part of a plant nursery.Make sure you bring a hat, sunscreen, and water. I personally would not recommend to do this alone. Several areas are a little more hidden from view and would make me uncomfortable to be out there alone.

MoreI love taking my dog here. This trail is perfect t if u have unfriendly or timid dogs because its not populated and its so big! The trail is rough but its worth the hike and there are a couple hills here and there for challenges. The lake and river are beautiful. The only thing I dont like it all the graffiti. You can tell troubled makers also come here time to time.
MoreReally love how close to home this is but it seems to always have people living in the shrubs and ot hanging out under the bridge. Not the safest place for one person to jog or walk in my opinion. I am fine but not comfortable with my wife jogging or riding a bike out there alone.
MoreWe started the trail behind Walmart. It was super dirty and nasty. The smell made me nauseous and there was literally trash everywhere. Once we made it past the ranger station, the trail became much nicer and the disgusting smells went away. Definitely not a trail I would go on without my husband!
MoreNice way to escape the city. Theres some areas with a lot of trash, which is upsetting. You can definitely get a good walk in here, though!
MoreIts ok. Bring some mace cause weird there. Smells bad sometimes. Never go when its dark. Bathroom stinks but you can park your car there while you hike and its clean and ample. Cool place to go to while you get your car fixed next door where they have a couple of garages that fix any type of car. They know their stuff and are efficient and worth every cent. Charley and George both have worked on my cars and I was impressed by their work!
MoreAbsolutely love this park. For more than 10 years Ive been coming to this park and the city has done a great job to preserve its beauty and its natural flow. This park is great for many activities like walking, jogging, running, taking pictures while exploring and if cycling is your thing it even connects to the Bayshore Bikeway. Personally I have rode my hybrid bike from Otay Valley park to The Bayshore Bikeway to Silver Strand Beach than to Coronado Island covering many many miles of endless fun. Bring water and food and have fun!
MoreThe Otay Valley Regional Park represents one of the major open space areas within the southern area of San Diego County. It will provide South Bay residents and visitors recreational opportunities ranging from playing fields and picnic areas to hiking, biking, and horse trails. There is a Ranger station abd staging area on Beyer Blvd. This is a great place for distressing and exercise. Wild life is quite protected here and rules and regulations should be observed. Gates at the stations are open at sunrise and close at dusk. Again, great place but visitors should not walk trails when dark.
MoreI went there with my hubby and it was just sketchy. Although I am seeing reviews and it seems like there was another way around the trail or something but when I went there wasnt people, I did see the parking, the bridges with at least 7 weird looking guys. And a trail that stopped half a mile. 2 Women were found murdered there before.
MoreNice easy trail about 4-5 miles loop. Pretty cool art work under the bridge.
I grew up playing and hiking through out this area prior to it becoming a park. Positive is that they really cleaned the place up, fixed up the service roads and made it safe. We love to go on hikes all through the area and my family enjoyed it.
MoreGreat place to go for a walk. Only had one problem here when my wife and I were approached by a homeless looking woman who was topless at the time. That though was the fault of the person and not the park. We just go to a different area of the park now.
MoreI like the trail, just kind of creepy to know that in certain locations you can find a lot of homeless people. Not that all people are bad, but Ive seen some crazies pass by. I try to stay where its busy. :Love the trail that takes you to Coronado!
MoreAwesome lake, although the rental boats smell like used bait. Its a great space to hike, bike, kayak, fish, or just boat. Although no swimming allowed.
MoreGreat place to visit whenever you need a break from people. Its a great place to get in touch with nature without having to go too far. You can go to different parts of Chula Vista depending on what trail you choose. Lots of birds to look at and an overall fun place to walk, jog, or ride a bike.
