Oswald House - in Kirkcaldy, United Kingdom
Didnt stay there only visited for a wake
Visited the hotel for a wake very nice with excellent service
Great service and food. Coffee was excellent on our second visit! Would definitely recommend and close to the motorway. Look forward to the next pass by :).
Very quiet even at weekendsStill got some lovely architecture like the fireplace as you enter and oak panelled walls etc . But looks tired inside and out . A shame as used to be a lovely hotel but unless it gets a revamp soon it will not survive. Hopefully it pulls through and relives it’s glory days. A bit of a challenge. On the positive side the Toilets have been revamped.
Kerrie and her team did an amazing job for my Husbands 40th celebration. Everyone had a fanb time and commented on how good the staff were.
Never stayed,I was at a wedding reception. Dance floor quite small
Beautiful surroundings and inside just as lovely, set out amazingly for the wedding i was attending. The food was delicious being gluten free I was abit worried but was catered for brilliantly. Staff will do anything to help all nice and friendly.
4 of us stayed here last night, as we had a friends funeral in the area lovely hotel, clean and the breakfast is amazing, can I just add that Wendy the lady on the reception desk this morning went above and behind and is a credit to your hotel. thanks for all your help this morning
Stopped in for a bar lunch today. The staff were friendly and the food was really good and piping hot. The hotel looks clean and fresh. Would happily recommend a visit.
Attended an event. Buffet style food was good and difrerent from the usual.
Great location, super quiet with no issues considering its in a public park.Rooms are large and amenities are good. Only downside for me is the food is not worthy of the location and building. Otherwise a great place.
Went for lunch service was great food was delicious and hot would definitely be back
Amazing views from the rooms and staff are very friendly, the food was lovely aswell would go again 😀
PERFECT. I was recently part of a Bridal party at Oswald House and we stayed over Friday-Sunday. Kerrie, the Wedding co-ordinator was an absolute dream from the minute we arrived right up until check out.The bridesmaids stayed in the Bridal suite the night prior to the wedding and it was huge, with beautiful decor and lots of space for hair/make up on wedding day. Ive been to a few weddings, but this felt extra special! Kerrie said she was there if we needed anything and she truly was, checking up on us in the morning bringing water, juice, breakfast, more ice, fans to cool us down as the sun shone in! Honestly, she went above and beyond the whole weekend.I would HIGHLY recommend Oswald House for amazing service, phenomenal food and beautiful scenic surroundings!
Very expensive and a bit old and tired looking. average breakfast
I loved my stay the staff were very nice and room was big if you come to this area you should visit
Staff coped very well with the large funeral and the food was good. Only slight niggle could have done with more tea - there was only one small cup.
Nice place to have an after funeral tea. The staff were very busy as there was a large turnout.
Great venue. Very friendly staff. Always welcoming. Good place for a drink.
Tired, inside and out. Dark and damp. Even the aroma of the open fires cant cover the smell of mould. Conservatory in dire need of replastering. Beautiful China cups chipped and stained. Milk jugs dirty before use. Staff a plus and go over and beyond. Needs investment.
Stopped for lunch, place is in dire need of a makeover.Ordered Burger and chips, thats it no salad?Burger was great however my chips were small crispy things.£14! Overpriced.Probably wont be back.
Unfortunately my visit was for a small family funeral tea .which was very good. Other than that I cant comment
In the middle.of.a pandemic a member of staff had a mask under her chin and people at the party night we were at were walking freely back and forth with no masks on. We left before dessert as this was very uncomfortable. When a member of staff was asked why people were not asked to wear their masks the reply was they are all adults.
It was a typical Xmas party. Food was as you would expect. No side plates so we buttered our roll on a napkin. I had a tiny prawn cocktail, didnt really taste of anything. The turkey was ok but the plate was overshadowed by 3 huge roast potatoes which were difficult to eat, 2 Brussels, slab of some sort of stuffing. I have 3 bits of plum poached for my dessert. My vegetarian friend had white soup, parsnip, apple and then white risotto with parsnip. Not much of a variety. Disco was good. Just your average party night
Lovely hotel and venue fir the wedding we attended beautifully decorated delicious food staff attentive and helpful too.Ladies toilets let it down a bit need a bit of work done new wash basin taps etc a bit shabby.
Had our wedding here, the staff are beyond amazing, the food was great and the building is lovely. Highly recommend 👌
This place is ok. There is quite a lot to like about it. The staff were really nice and I loved the style in the main foyer. The furnishings of the rooms were nice as well, however it was the small details that let it down.Starting with the room itself, one of the towel rails was falling out of the wall. The shower didnt really work, it was suffering from low pressure but also didnt ever get much temperature in it. All the clocks in the room had run out of batteries and the TV didnt work - it had recently had the receiver cables replaced so I actually managed to retune it fairly easily. The same was true of the meal we had. Lots to like, the scallop starter was amazing as was the dessert I had. Unfortunately the main steak I had was really badly over-salted. In fairness the waitress apologised and gave us a free bottle of wine.Overall it was OK. A bit more attention to detail would improve the experience a lot.
Attended the Halloween Ball on 29th October. Included 3-course meal with cocktail on arrival, a band and stovies at midnight.Staff all very friendly and food decent! The hotel had been very well presented for Halloween, very spooky!Only recommendation would be to serve better wine on the table, all red, white and rosey were not the best! All in all I had a great night though and will return again in the future.
My nieces daughters wedding ,expertly organised by hotel staff , service and food excellent made it a fantastic day for the bride and groom and guests.
Went here after my partners funeral. Very friendly staff. Good food and all went well
Great place to take kids have a meal . Nice grounds with a park . Car parking golf . Grounds are huge go for a walk or just sit outside ..
Great place for functions, drinking in the bar or having meals. Dog friendly too. Large free carpark to the rear.
Booked in advance for 55 people for a funeral tea. Food was tasty but over priced as very small portions. I had 2 additional requests on the day, 1 to include Millionaires shortbread, which was included and was delicious and another to include scones as an additional item. Scones were overlooked on the booking, hotel apologised and a discount was given. Staff completely inexperienced and despite best efforts there were long delays for tea coffee and drink of choice. Understand that hotel is still under renovation, but Ladies toilets were disgusting. 3 cubicles available, no toilet roll in any, until staff notified, 1 had no toilet seat at all. Only 2 sinks had water to wash hands and soap dispensers were running out. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at this point for a special event, I would wait until the renovations are complete.
Was there for a small funeral . absolutely stunning place but food was ok but absolutely disgusting price for the price per head £8.95 for one sausage roll a triangle sandwich and a bit short bread then asking for refill of tea and coffee X
Went in for drinks after game of golf staff very friendly nice place to enjoy drinks also does meals but on this occasion I didnt try maybe next time.
We have stayed here a few times as a golf party , we have always found the hotel and staff go above and beyond to make sure your stay is seamless from the service at the front desk staff to the bar staff and a great full Scottish breakfast also the dinner menu is good , and at the moment always within the COVID rules and regulations , well worth the visit and rooms are well presented and delivered to a high standardThey will also recommend where is good to visit and eat around Kirkcaldy
Very good food but let down by an inexperienced service team. Left for ages without taking an order, not told the specials, childs meal not brought out on time. Then they had run out of draft juice, and run out of straws. We asked for water for the table but when they brought the food out there wasnt space on the table so they fixed it by removing everyones still dry water glasses!Again, good food but let down by the experience.
I stayed here on business and really enjoyed the stay. Waking up and opening the curtains to look down the lawn gave a sense of Royalty for a short moment. I would certainly come back. The Postcode was a problem when finding the Hotel. Dont rely on the sat-nav, it tried to take you through the park.
Kayleigh and Matts wedding. What a weekend, the rain poured down, but the staff rallied round like troopers. The whole experience was fantastic from the moment we arrived, the rooms were beautiful and the staff were so attentive if you asked for anything it was delivered with a smile, they just did not stop. I would definitely recommend the Oswald House before, during and after the service was superb. A great big thankyou to you all.Jane Atkinson
Went today for food and drinks. We sat in the conservatory it was only midday, only people in the restaurant was us. Sat on couches which were full of dog hair as was the cushions and floor. Dog biscuits also on the floor. Moved to the other couches which we moved to fit the high chair and underneath was also dirty and full of debris. Unnecessary hygiene issues too especially in the middle of a pandemic.
Hello there Ill need to say Ive been there with Family... Food is Outstanding!!.. Ive been eating burger...with home made bun...so lovely, everything really fresh, kids have brilliant meal too...My Mums have chicken breast stuffed with mushrooms...God soooo good!.... and obviously place is Amazing! And dog friendly!! with massive Park around... Best place in whole fife....for sure.... For wee coffee or meal for whole family.
Had dinner on Thursday and Afternoon Tea today. Both fantastic. Very well organised around COVID regulations and special deals on during September to get the punters back in. Staff work very hard with smiles behind the masks to make you feel welcome and valued. Proud to have it as my ‘local’.
Stayed for 2 nights and was satisfied. Due to Covid-19, there was no buffet option and, on the second morning, there was a kitchen issue and no fried food was available. Our room was very nice however and we found it very comfortable and clean. Although the area isnt full of things to do, its not far from St Andrews or Anstruther and we had a nice long weekend.
We ran a full days training event in the ball room. We cannot fault anything about the venue. The facilities were excellent, the service was superb and most importantly the lunch was yummy. We would have no hesitation in recommending this venue for companies looking for a bright, spacious venue for corporate events. Well be back :-)
I recently photographed the wedding of Gina & Stephen at the lovely Oswald House Hotel. It was a privilege to be part of their special day at such a grand venue. The Oswald team have done a great job with the recent renovations and it shows. The day started with coverage of bridal prep in the grand bridel suite upstairs. The room is huge! With lots of natural light from the large windows. The ceremony followed a short while later downstairs followed by reception. The photo opportunity on the large grounds outside are endless. The staff were polite and friendly and they looked after me well and the food was great. I hope to be back to do more photos as well some as social visits. Ive attached a few images from the day. Very welcoming family hotel, was booked by company I am working for in the area . I was very happy to find immaculate newly refurbished room, lThey are still working on a couple of the rooms and some of the exterior of the hotel but this would not put me off recommending it or coming again in the near future.
I have checked in tonight on business after a very long drive and the lady on duty offered to iron my work shirt for the morning. Such a small but hugely appreciated gesture! Thank you! Very comfortable surroundings too. Ideal.
Beautifully restored with superb modern facilities. Our sons wedding was perfect from Friday through to Sunday. Delicious food and fantastic service. Special mention to Kerry for ensuring everything ran smoothly and to all staff for their hard work. We wish Doug and Sarah every success for the future. You deserve it
Used for a funeral reception. Had asked for a room that would not be hot - Garden Room was suggested. On visiting prior to the date found Garden Room was behind schedule and could not be usedDisappointed. Was offered ballroom which was too stark for the purpose planned. Then considered Conservatory hoping weather would not make it too hot. Chose Oswald House as had a huge connection to my deceased daughter and son-in-law wanted this too. Gladly the venue was fine, food was very reasonable for price and the staff really made the event go very smoothly and couldnt be faulted. Inspite of the disappointment with the Garden Room I do wish the new owners well with their massive undertaking and hopefully will be back under happier circumstances.
Here for a post - funeral cup of tea. Lovely place, still parts of it being refurbished to bring it all up to a good standard. Excellent service, staff friendly and helpful. Food quality also good. Must return for a meal.
