Ostra Cosa - Caribbean restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Food was amazing. Drinks were fantastic. The DJ was great!
Very easy and casual spot for a meeting with parking garage next door
Loved the al alcapurias. Waiter/bartender was friendly and efficient.. great outdoor ace to eat.
They have rum coconuts. Worth it.
Best food and service Ive had. Also the live music from Ojos Negros!
3.5 measley tiny scallops. This is what they gave me. The sauce was tasty. The location is nice. But would you be happy with this for $15? No.
Wanted to buy a coconut and because I wanted it with No alcohol they didn’t sell it and the waiter was too rude. Please don’t come.
Bartender first told me it’s seat yourself at the lower deck for food. We sat for 15 min before being told to go up a level and we can get food there. The bartender actively ignored us for 20 minutes, often returning to the two tables she was serving. Rude and don’t care.
If you just come for a drink, it’s ok. We waited for 1.5 hours to get our food. And the portions were so small! Definitely did not worthy of the price!
Horrible experience. On a slow Friday night (only one other table ordering foodI waited nearly one hour for my meal. When I inquired about the delay, the waiter sarcastically told me that I was just wrong, it had not been that long. Less than a minute later, after checking, he acknowledged I was correct but told me I could just deal with it.
Drinks and appetizers were quite good. Unfortunately the only reason it did not get five stars was the lobster in my husbands meal tasted like it was freezer burnt. Very disappointing. Everything else was great. Loved the outside seating. The band was great. Would visit again for sure.
The food was really good! The service was a little slow though. Royal Smashed potatoes is a must try … it has a choice of meat and vegetarian version too!
WOW! Amazing churrasco! We came back for more mojitos cause nobody else can make them like this! The coconuts are a bug plus we couldn’t find them on the beach :( Definitely a favorite the fish was also good a huge piece for very reasonable price
Service was absolutely horrible. Servers kept bringing the wrong items. They seemed clueless. Forgot to bring things ordered. The food was not good and they automatically included a 20% tip with no way of adjusting apparently. Do not recommend!
Seafood, fresh dishes. Pina colada was the best; coconut was okay, not sweet.
Loved it. Food was perfectly portioned for a lunch visit. The service was great and I was able to knock "drinking out of a coconut" off the bucket list.
Lovely outdoor and covered dining right in the city of old San Juan. Delicious food and drinks. Definitely wished they stayed open past 9pm on a Wednesday.
Not bad. Reasonable prices. I’m full.
It was on a tuesday night it was kind of empty but during the weekend they have live music and is super nice. The service was very good the food spectacular we had the scallops, carnitas and the lobster also de alcapurria de bacalao. Had a wonderful time
Good food, very cold beer and nice atmosphere on a patio a bit far from the tourist crowds. Come at at price thought.
Terrible service! We waited for almost 2 hours to get our food. We also ordered some coconut and asked the server if he can cut the coconut open. He say no and to add insult to injury, the waiter told my friend to jam the coconut on the rock (on the groundto crack it open herself. It is such a shame because their food is good.
Nice central location with covered outdoor seating. Menus accessible through QR code. Poertorican food. A big variety of fish, lobster and meat. Also different coctails, drinks, beer... We enjoyed very much our meal.
Food is delicious. Prices are good; the food is fantastic and prepared beautifully! There was also live music which was a great bonus.
Had such a good time here. The bar is right off the sidewalk and if you go inside there’s a nice courtyard space where we watched some live music. The drinks were amazing- our one bartender created shots that were like a starter, entree and dessert- each super unique and delicious! Can’t recommend this place enough based on the service, drinks and space.
Very comfortable restaurant. It is an open place full of of trees and beautiful old San Juan view. Perfect for this period of time ( pandemic we are living. You can seat in a semi open area or in a totally open area with a bar an live music. Very relaxing, too
If you come for a drink only... Its ok. The bartender is the only one working today Thursday 9th of September,2021 (afternoon). The bartender was very nice and helpful. He made delicious drinks. Nevertheless, the food is not even close to good. Just a tiny ok.
Great vibes here, customer service was a little slow to start but once I requested to order the food came in a reasonable amount of time. We got ceviche and scallops as an appetizer (but it all came out at once), my daughters got the grilled prawns and the royal smashed potato dish. I got the lobster rissorzo dish and the mojito. Everything was great, but I think my daughter was expecting seasoning on the prawns. The band was just setting up while we were there, and started playing shortly after we finished eating. We heard them playing while we checked out the handmade jewelry vendors out front and they sounded really good, island vibes for sure!
HORRIBLE service!! Its really a shame as the food is ,actually, really good. Almost 1hr to have even the appetizers cone out is unacceptable. I escalated to the manager and all that he had to say is that he is short staffed. I can totally understand this BUT it is their responsibility to inform the customers of possible delays in service (which they did not do).We did not tip the waiter either as we had to request the very basic things such as napkins, another drink and even utensils. The manager has the audacity of stating " thats off that the waiter is not getting a tip despite a discount being given"...SERIOUSLY?! A tip is earned, not given!! Anywho.. we will, more than likely, skip this restaurant in the future.
Best muscles I’ve ever had. Moscow Mules were fantastic and delicious. Octopus was nice and tender and fresh. Service was quite slow but that’s expected when you have very fresh ingredients. Would recommend.
My wife and I had a delicious seafood dinner here on our vacation. The place has a laid back atmosphere and friendly staff. I splurged for the lobster Neptune and was not disappointed. The Alcapurria were also fantastic.
Great food, come early...greet food surprisingly the rice and beans are amazing. The owner needs to get more help...Cali (waiter/bartenderserved the entire floor
I had such an amazing experience here. They have coconuts that you can drink out of and their food was amazing. The owner walked around checking on every table. He came to my table and showed me the proper way to eat prawns he was so nice and made my dinner experience spectacular!!!
I ate here tonight. I have to say I feel very bad for the employees. There was a full house plus several parties that wanted to be seated. The total staff was 3, 2 servers that were also the hosts, bartenders, and bus boys and 1 cook. We were behind 1 larger table, but it took 2 hours to receive our dinner. The servers were clearly getting their butts kicked, but trying to do their best. We had Cal, he was actually very good, when he had time to come to the table and wasnt trying to seat, bus, and make drinks. The management needs to really take a look at the whole product they are offering, with the number of people at the door and the price of the food, there has to be more employees to expect them to be able to provide good service.
We would love to give more stars if we could. It was our last day in PR and we tried to follow Google map to a few selections, all of which are closed. My kids were ready for pizzaria and thankfully I saw this place open with many outdoor tables right next to the square. It was the best way to end our trip on a high note before we head back to the cold NY.The price at first seem to be higher than local venues or food trucks we have tried on this trip, but turned out it was worth every penny. We literally have food cooked and plated like from a high-end restaurant but at a price level of a chain restaurant.Chris was extremely friendly, with perfect English, and everyone else was friendly. We got fresh coco, then cracked the fruit for the meat, we had 2 alcapurria, 1 beef and 1 house special which is cod and the cod was amazing. We also had fried pork chunks (even the caramelized onions tasted good to my kids), lobster rissorzo, and Diana’s mignon (hands down the most juicy rare steak I have ever had). If we come back to San Juan, we will have to come back. Thank you guys for excellent service.
The vibe was cool. The menu was wonderful. I had a great experience. Would definitely go back. Such fresh ingredients. Fun location. Highly recommended.
Happening yet laid back spot. Great outdoor seat with superior live music. The menu was promising and certainly worth the meal. I should have tried the broiled lobster which seems to be their specialty but I wasn’t that hungry. I tried a fried cheese dish with lobster in the middle. It was a solid choice and the addition of the side salad was well worth the up charge. The bartenders go out of their way to make you feel at home.
Drinks and food were delicious. Food was fresh and have authentic taste of Puertorican food! Highly recommended.
Fantastic architecture ans atmosphere, great on a sunny and mild day in Puerto Rico. Though the wait is a little long, it is totally worth it; food is fresh and keeps you coming back for more. Delicious mojitos and impeccable staff!
Margarita made with fresh lime juice. Fresh coconut full of rum. Awesome drinks. Fast service.
The service was fantastic, the atmosphere delightful and fun, and the food was beyond expectations!
This place is really nice, So much inspiration just by their Art work, would always recommend this place!!! #1 go to place when you visit Puerto Rico!!
I went into this place because it was calling my attention with the music playing (reggaetón). I ordered a fish and rice, coco loco with Bacardi, which was really good. When I came to PR I was looking for a fun ambiance and good drinks. I would definitely come back and wish I would’ve found this place the first day I got here!
Incredible dinner that we started with cold coconuts and grew into great Pina coladas and their combo type seafood plate. Yes... thats a 6 pound lobster in the pic (combo plate at individual lobster per pound)... Yes, we could have had a smaller one. But why! Oddly enough, be sure to try the "smashed potatoe". We were thinking it would just be mashed potatoes, but we were pleasantly surprised that they werent! Served perfectly and the staff were great.
Prawns $7/each were overcooked, Churasco steak was okay, "salad" was real shame. A cup full of green leaves plus few pieces of vegetables on top for $8. Pina Colada - not recommended.Service was awesome though. Fast, friendly, helpful.
We stumbled across this place after another location said they opened at 11 but actually opened at 11:30 and we did not feel like waiting.BOY, did we make the right decision! The lemonade and rum house drink was refreshing and all the food was amazing! The fried carnitas, the sweet plantains, and their fried cheese dish with the lobster was all to die for! This was my first time visiting PR, but if I return, I will gladly stop here despite the price being a little higher than I expected. It was totally worth it!
Stopped in for some music, drinks, and appetizers. The covered tostones were delicious as was the ceviche my husband ordered. Their house drink, a homemade lemonade with rum, was very tasty and refreshing as well.
Good food and honest price, it was a friday night and there was great live music. Had a really good time!
Great meal. Despite the hurricane damage they are open and have great food. We met the chef/owner Arturo who gave us a lesson on eating prawns. Amazing perseverance.
So when wandering around Old San Juan looking for a place to eat while site seeing we stopped in based on Google reviews. The owner seated us and talked us I to trying their specialty drink. It was amazing. We got appetizers to share and I have to say that the covered tostones made my husband experience NC-17 feelings lol. The fish bites are cooked to perfection. It isnt fast service but you are on vacation. Enjoy. Its worth it.
Food, service, Pina Coladas, And atmosphere were fantastic. We came right after lunch so it wasnt too busy. We had scallops fish bites and rice (we were eating at every restaurant we could find so small plates were our goal). However the fish bites were out of this world and the scallops were delicious kinda small but flavor was on point. Im also not a pina colada person but these were delicious!! Id recommend this place highly. Its a little pricy but we enjoyed ourselves immensely!!
