Osteria dei Pazzi in Florence

If Im honest Im confused by all the super positive reviews...I came here because of them, but the food wasnt great, and the prices are quite expensive (more than in the pictures). Had the bruschetta mista and really non of them had much flavour sadly, then the tagliata with tartufo which was quite pricey and not a very substantial portion for the price, and again just not great. Id definitely skip this place. Staff were really nice though.

Ate here many years ago and came by thinking I’d try it again. I asked questions about their bistecca fiorentina - most restaurants have the cuts on display but not here which is fine - and when I tried to ask what type (chianina, scottonahe essentially told me to get out, got really weirdly defensive.There are plenty of great restaurants in Florence, and this threw up red flags in addition to just being possibly the rudest encounter I’ve ever had in all of Italy.

Very friendly staff, freshly made Pasta and a chocolate cake to die for. I wish Id found this place earlier on my trip, Id definitely have gone more than once. Popular both with tourists and locals. Dont skip it!

I visited this restaurant in 2017 and loved it, so returned again on my recent trip to Florence and it was just as delicious and charming as I had remembered. Every dish was unique and outstanding, and the owner and his wife are the sweetest couple! Definitely one of the best meals we had in Florence/Tuscany ⭐️

Superb place! Food was fantastic, the owner was walking around singing and was extremely welcoming. Loved it.

The food was OK.BUTI felt a bit of discrimination/racism. He was being fun with all white people but had a very bad body language towards me , and I felt its because I am coloured.The waiter/owner was constantly ignoring me even after calling out multiple times.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. We both got the pesto gnocchi and house wine and it was SO GOOD. It felt like our food came out in about 10 minutes. There was only a man and women (husband and wife?walking around taking orders and the man was happily singing out loud as he went table to table. Both came to our table multiple times and were so nice. This place got very busy very fast. We walked over right when they opened at 730 and by 8pm the whole place was filled. They easily turned away 10 people without reservations while we sat there because they were so filled. I’d definitely make a reservation or get there right when they open. They also had homemade dessert and it was probably the best we’ve had on our trip so far. The food was also very cheap for being near the touristy area. I think with buying water, 1.5 liters of wine, two meals and two desserts, our meal was barely 60$. Haha

This restaurant has been my favorite experience in Florence so far! I ordered the gnocchi al pesto and my girlfriend ordered the truffle pasta. One of the best pastas Ive ever had. We also drank the smooth tagliafune chianti classico, which comes with a history lesson. The staff is wonderful. The owner was inviting and made us laugh multiple times by mooing when he served customers the steak dishes. And the reviews are true; the owner does sing!

Always amazing, authentic Italian cuisine with the friendliest staff and the only restaurant where you will be serenaded as your food is brought to your table. Weve been coming back for the last 6 years and the food and service has always been 5 stars.

Dinner here last night was excellent. The restaurant has a really lovely ambience, the staff are all very welcoming and provide lots of character and conversation while you dine, and the food and wine were delicious. Highly recommend this place for dinner!

My friends and I visited several days ago for lunch after some sightseeing. We stumbled upon this restaurant and havent stopped reminiscing. I had the pesto gnocchi which was delicious and everyone raved about all of the pasta dishes. We also shared the bruschetta as an appetizer. We were serenaded by the lovely owner, which we will never forget. My plate was certainly clean after that meal.

Loved this place, staff were super helpful and friendly - the owner even sings as he serves the food or collects the plates.Menu is great, with everything made from scratch and the set menu with bruschetta and two courses is amazing value at only 22 euros.Just remember, lasagne season is winter, so if you visit in summer like we did, you wont be able to try, but the summer dishes are equally delicious :)

I’d give this place six stars if I could! Food is outstanding and the owner spends the evening singing, as he clears your plates or just walking around. The atmosphere is beautiful and it feels more authentic than the more central touristy restaurants of Florence. Highly recommend.

If you want great pasta, come here!

Just had an excellent dinner with my girlfriend. Easy to call and make reservation but not really needed. Being both students we were really happy about the super affordable prices and wide menu option.They were very welcoming and you could tell the people enjoyed working there.They explained the entire menu in English so we wouldnt have to be on our phones looking for translations.We had a carpaccio to start my girlfriend truffle pasta which she really enjoyed and I was set on having a bisteca a la fiorentina at least once during our trip. They realised we were students and managed to find the bisteca closest to the minimum weight so as to help us not spend too much money.Food was really quick to come out and of really high quality. Just a really pleasant dinner would highly recommend.

Just the BEST! Simple, authentic, relaxing, calm after the hectic touring of Firenze. Our waiter, Simone, took the time to explain the options of the menu, and customized a delicious Pollo lunch in white wine. A quiet enjoyable experience to remember.

Loved coming here. The atmosphere is welcoming and unassuming. The staff were friendly and patient to us as American tourists who could not understand Italian and had a lot of questions about the menu and wanted to try a lot. The food was delicious! We left very stuffed and happy.

This place was absolutely amazing.We ordered the artichokes with parmesan cheese as an appetizer to begin. I actually dont even like vegetables but the olive oil, artichokes and parmesan cheese together tasted great.Bread came at the same time, this was probably the weakest part of the meal but it was still fine.For the main course we ordered pasta dishes. I got a garlic pasta with breadcrumbs which was amazing. Light garlic sauce on perfectly al dente pasta, when you add the bread crumbs it was like something Ive never had before. My wife ordered spaghetti alla caratierra, which she thought was the best pasta she had ever eaten.For dessert we got pannacotta with chocolate sauce and tirimasu which were both awesome.Overall the service was great. The waiter explained everything to us in English and was super helpful. The owner or other waiter was super joyful singing and greeting guests with a big smile. The experience was amazing. Im in Florence for only 3 days but I might be back here tomorrow!

If you want authentic Italian food this is the place to dine at. Its one of Firenzes best.

Pour best restaurant experience in Firenze. The waiter (probably the owneris quite something (some will like him, others hate him I guessand the waitress (probably his wifeis an absolute delight (and speaks good French, which was a plus for us).Foodwise, we shared spaghetti with pistachio and then I had steak with rucula and parmeggiano cheese while my lady had trippa alla Fiorentina. All was really good!The tiramisu is a must of you feel like some dessert.

The bruschetta and pistacchio spaghetti are superb.The customer service was amazing, we were served by this adorable older man, who kept checking up on us and making sure we were happy.Very pleasant experience.

Our family had a fantastic dinner and completely enjoyed our experience at Osteria dei Pazzi. The steak fiorentina was perfect as was our antipasti, pasta primi (spaghetti with spicy garlic sauceand amazing desserts. The owners are very nice and spent a lot of time talking with us during and after our meal. I’d recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Florence.

The food was simply great. Everything was great. Huge wine selection at very affordable prices. Place was packed within 30 minutes and the ambience made was want to stay and keep eating. We actually tried to keep eating and failed. The waiter was very obviously disappointed to see us asking for the check with a meal that we didnt finish :)

One of our favorite restaurants in all of Italy. The service is wonderful, everyone working smiled and chatted with us. Lively and authentic atmosphere, we were the only non Italians but they still managed to find us a seat even without reservations. Everything we ordered was delicious. Love love loved this place and so happy to have stumbled upon it. Thanks for everything! :)

This place serves exceptional food at a good price. A family feel, and super polite. Try to get reservations because they are busy, but I saw them accommodate many people at the last moment (including me and my guests).

Perfect lunch spot very close to Santa Croce. Great traditional food, but the best surprise is how warm and welcoming the staff is. Big thumb up for the owner. Perfect for a great chat and a great pasta.

Food was pretty decent, but not amazing. We ordered the pici con le briciole (fried breadcrumbs), which was highly recommended, but we found to be a bit disappointing. The gnocchi with pesto was fantastic, and the steak was pretty good. Service was nice and the owner walks around singing as he drops off dishes at your table.

We didnt have a reservation but the (I assume, ownergot us a table even when it was a busy Friday night. The portions are big and the food was delicious. The pasta is amazingly good. All the staff were friendly and even made some jokes because we couldnt finish our dishes. It was a great experience, we were really happy. Its a great place.

Get the Spaghetti alla carrettiera! It’s a slightly spicy tomato-based sauce with garlic. INCREDIBLE! The grilled fresh fish is packed with course seasoned salt, which imparts flavor to this luscious dish.

Food was good not great, both our pastas were good with the pistachio pasta very interesting, bread wasn’t good and wouldn’t recommend the bruschetta but the house wine is a good deal. The owner is hilarious and a joy to be around

I had one of my favourite dining experiences in Europe here 2 years ago. The name of the restaurant means Restaurant of the Crazy, and true enough, the decor was bizarre and crazy. The staff were incredibly friendly, and announced the arrival of our dishes with the call of the animal (eg. He mooed when the beef dish arrived). They kept joking around and chatting with us in some English, and we tried our limited Italian back at them. The food and wine were well-priced and delicious.This was perhaps the friendliest restaurant in Europe that I was in. I would definitely come back here should I ever be in Florence again.

Went in for our last meal in Florence on a Saturday night at 10pm. We were the only tourists in there, and the owner was enjoying himself singing and walking around and socializing; it really has a community restaurant feel to it, even though it is in the heart of the tourist district. The steak fiorentina was incredible, and the risotto was perfect. I dont know if its always this way, but Id recommend this place in a heartbeat.

This is not a true traditional and advertised Florentine steak. Its a regular steak that I could whip up in 5 minutes and pay less than 30 euros! How could someone mess up bruschetta ? They figured it out! Just give customers a piece of lightly toasted bread with a bunch of unseasoned chopped tomatoes... I came here based on reviews on certain foods that turned out to be specials for that night. There were no specials tonight! The pasta was the best part of my meal. Dont waste your money. Service was not that good. Unlike the reviews stated, the people that come here are mostly tourists and there is nothing traditional about this restaurant except for its outdated decor. Worst dinner yet in Florence.
