Osteria Pepó - Traditional restaurant in Florence, Italy
Osteria Pepó in Florence
Description
Privilege
The BEST gnocchi by far we had in Florence. Their bistecca alla florentine was also the best, and we had it at a few places in town. Service was great, food was incredible, prices fantastic.
MoreGiving it 1 because I cannot give 0. Firstly, we received free Prosecco before dinner which was nice and tasty. Additionally the lasagna tasted very good. But that’s where the good ends. The service was extremely slow for us to order - we were sitting for about 40 minutes before someone took it. We had a train to catch and couldn’t wait forever so after 30 minutes of waiting I asked a waiter if he could take our order. He was very rude and told me “no I am dealing with another table right now”. Then I heard him tell the table behind us “thank you for waiting, some customers are very impatient”. 10 minutes later someone takes our order and the food arrives very quickly. Although the lasagna was delicious, the porcini tagliatelle was awful. Not only was the pasta nowhere near as good as it was in other restaurants (especially in Bolognabut the mushrooms used were canned, and mushy - no colour or flavour on them other than dirt. The dish was not pleasant. Nobody around us had finished their pasta which shows none of the pasta dishes were good. We then had dessert which was a chocolate soufflé. However this is false advertising as this was nowhere near what a chocolate soufflé actually should be like. It was a chocolate cake - not even a lava one where the chocolate pours out. It did not have the texture or the taste of a soufflé and the cake had also collapsed on itself which the kitchen covered up with some whipped cream. Do not come here - instead go to Giannino in San Lorenzo. Not sure how this restaurant has such a high rating but it was very disappointing and the staff were extremely rude.
MoreGreat Florance T-bone steak for a low price, best panna cotta ever, cozy, nice atmosphere
MoreThe ossobuco was splendid and the service excellent.Highly recommend !
Wonderful place with a delicious homemade food. We come there accidentally but it was a right spot for us. I eat Trippa alla Fiorentina and it was incredible tasty, the pasta with mushrooms was delicious too.
MoreGreat food and great service. Very good staff! A great moment!
i love it 🥹, everything was so cute and typical from firenze , the restaurant wasn’t so touristic so that mean always that is better and i just did the pic of the meat but i took so much other things and i didn’t did the pics ! very recommended;)
MoreAverage food, very bad service. Always late, barely a word said.
Amazing restaurant! Nice staff who serve amazing food. The starter plate was a great portion and main meal fully convinced us ( Lasagne & cut steak). We will visit the restaurant once more for sure!
MoreGreat food and even better service, the spaghetti Alla carbonara was superb!
Amazing place! Great food, local atmosphere and super friendly staff! Would def recommend to go! We loved it
MoreSpaghetti del Pepo was a dream. Friends had ravioli and tagliatelle al Ragu which was amazing as well. Staff very friendly and helpful, and they speak English very well.
MoreQuaint restaurant in quiet area. Quick service. Food was good, but not excellent. Great price!! Panne cotte and gelato were fantastic.
MoreOur meals were all delicious. Everything fried was amazing, I dont know how they do it, but so yum.
MoreA bit.... racist? Asked for a table for 2 and got told they were full for the night, even with 3 tables empty at plain sight. Then a couple of white americans came over and got sited right away. Food looked good but its a shame this kind of behavior.
MoreJust read the other reviews. What they say is spot on. The only things I can add are; lasagna and ravioli are worth buying 2 servings. We ate here 2 out of our 3 nights and wished we went 3 for 3. Honestly, I’d just go back for the lasagna!!!!
MoreGreat little restaurant. Good food, friendly service and relatively inexpensive.
Great Florentine style food and excellent service.
Very good food and service. Had a salsicha pasta and amazing prosciutto. People go to Zaza just because it is famous. Go to this place!
MoreMy first dinner in Firenze and one of my favorites food experience in Italy!! Very good food and typical italian restaurant!
MoreExcellent food and service was very good.
Recommended by our local Airbnb host. Incredible place, best meal we had in Florence. Service was perfect, excellent value, highly recommended.
MoreDelicious traditional food in this nice little restaurant near the Mercato Centrale.
MoreSimply delicious food, efficient and friendly service. Short but extremely reasonable wine list. My pasta was so tasty and the tiramisu…oh wow!
Moreso good, my mom and I went twice during our 5 day stay in florence! got the beef filet (absolute best), florentine steak, steamed spinach, ravioli filled with ricotta, panna cotta, chocolate souffle, and tiramisu. everything was fantastic - well be back!
MoreThis was the first place that we had lunch when we got to Florence. Great food and wonderful service. I took this shot on March 15, 2015
MoreAvoided the restaurants packed with American tourists off Piazza del Mercato Centrale and came to this nice bistro literally a 20 second walk away. Great service and food, enjoyed the vegetable risotto especially.
MoreThe perfect place: warm cozy atmosphere, excellent caring service, great dishes and reasonably priced!
MoreHighest quality and best value in Florence. Weve been to this charming non descriptive restaurants for years near the tourist restaurants. It is consistently great. They now have a menu by scanning but we just ordered what was on the chalk board on the wall. We ordered the large Florentine steak for 2 for 25 euros. It was one of their specials. It was soooo delicious! The 6 people that came in right after they saw our steak and each couple ordered it and devoured it too!Our waitress has been there the last 6+ years (as long as we have been there each year since thenand has always been so nice. They normally have a full house during normal times. They were closed for 8 months during covid so we were elated to see that they made it. The quality is fantastic and the value is bar none. You have to turn the block and find it. Well worth the find.
MoreBeautiful meal with friendly service. Thank you!
Delicious lasagna at a great price (€9).Also enjoyed the smooth house wine (€10). For dessert we wanted the tiramisu which was unfortunately sold out, the panna cotta was a little disappointing at €5.
MoreHad the Tuscan specialty, the Pappa al Pomodoro here. The food was excellent, it combined perfectly with the Tuscan bread served here. The white house wine was very good as well, it was very refreshing with a good balance of sweetness combined with some great aromatics. We arrived here at early lunch hour, during our visit the place quickly filled up with people. This Osteria is right in the centre of Firenze, but in a very authentic area, not many tourists here - mostly locals. It gives off a quiet vibe. The staff is nice and attentive. The inside of the Osteria has a nicely relaxing atmosphere.Highly recommend!
MoreGreat restaurant in the city-center of Florence which serves typical Toscan dishes. Very good service, I highly recommend!
MoreOne of the best restaurants I have been to in Florence. High quality, 100% Tuscanian food, nice people, confy and totally fair prices given the amazing location.
MoreGreat meal. Very much along the Florentine style. Great spaghetti with clams and steak. Try the chicken too. Nice waiters. Speedier than many restaurants.
MoreExcellent, high quality dishes. Very tasty. Service is quite to the point. Selection of wines small but high quality. The desert are supperb. We just came in for the fifth time. They are still excellent!
MoreHad my first meal upon arriving in Florence. Very little waiting time, amazing pasta and roast beef. Highly recommend!
MoreDelicious food close to all the things worth seeing. The potato wss delicious, beans with pepper and olive oil the best and ribollita - a traditonal toscana vegetable soup - so delicious. The wine went great along the meal. The whole restaurant has a lovely charm.
MoreDelicous food. Friendly staff. Short wait, quickly served. Nice ambient. Also have vegetarian / vegan options. Reasonable prices, approx 20 eur per person for lunch.
MoreLocal osteria near the foodmarket , great food, friendly staff. Famous for their Tiramisu, it was delicious although a bit to moist
MoreLove the food, experience and consistency.
One of the famous cuisines in Florence and a remarkable restaurant with delicious dishes and high quality wines. After visiting the nearby museums and art galleries, it is a warm and cosy place for both day and night time. Bon Appetit!
MoreAmazing pepper steak, ravioli and atmosphere! Dessert selection was underwhelming but the food was absolutely stellar. Seriously the best meal I had in Florence, for a good price and with great service. Also loved the coccoli(?with soft cheese and ham(procuitto).
MoreExcellent Tuscan food with a great wine menu. The service was excellent and little to no wait time. It was recommended to us by our hotel, and we couldnt have been more satisfied. The florentine steak is huge and designed to be shared (looked amazing. But my wife doesnt est steak so I got the regular steak). Would definitely pinpoint this as a high point in our trip and a refuge from the innumerable tourist traps located in old town Florence.
MoreGreat service and food. Fast and no attitude. Recommended
not bad store
Very friendly service, incredible atmosphere, delicious food. They had options for my child with what and peanut allergies. I had the Florentine style t-bone streak (my mouth is watering thinking about it).I highly recommend the stop.
MoreI had nice risotto. Especially I liked its dessert, panna cotta.
Food was beyond delicious! Great service, beautiful locale, and phenomenal menu. We had at least one item from each section of the menu...everything was fantastic. Explosion of flavors. And the wine...did not leave a drop! A must stop on your travels, especially if you want to eat like the locals.
MoreGreat local experience, but hip. Unique food choices, great atmosphere. Very busy. Reasonably priced, great wine selection. Combo of old meets new. Attentive waiters and owners. One of the best meals we have had in Italy in 3 weeks.
