Food was ok, the Waiters were rude, if you want a good service go elsewhere.

Cute setup and good music with express food delivery (literally arrived in 5 minsbut unfortunately very poor. Octopus tasted like they literally just opened a ready made can and placed it on plain lettuce. Calamari came without tartar sauce and did not taste fresh either. Spaghetti alla nonna was very average, again, similar taste to food store bought sauce. Risotto also very average and basic...bottom line would not recommend. No bread was offered (although I could see they usually do). Not cheap either, specially considering the quality of food.

Would have been great to try the food, I guess, but they sat us in the corner, poured us some water, and then turned their attention to other tables. Even a big group that followed us to the next table got to have beer! Us? 20 minutes later, we walked away to find better service (and excellent food). Thanks for nothing!

One pasta was good, but one was really bad. We asked wine glasses and they ignore us. In the end they add extra money in the bill. So check your bill in this place!))

The food was affordable priced and, for that price, extremely good. Presentation of the dishes was plain and simple, but the taste surprises with its excellence! The pasta selection was really large and there is definitely something for everyone.

Delicious meal. Highly commend the pasta fritta. Lovely familial atmosphere and great staff. This place is always busy. Great bang for your buck!

Food was ok, service was average.

The atmosphere was cosy both inside and outside. The service was ok, but we got an impersonal feeling because the venue is so huge, factory-like. Unfortunately the food was absolutely not worth any hype or any stars. We ate caponata, and few different fish courses. We have been in many restaurants around Italy and know that this is not the standard it should be. So no feeling of cucina della nonna. :(

Not a nice meal…The fried pasta is ugh not my style. I rather have it as normal cooked way.The fried squid is pricey.I will said it is a tourist trap. You guys… there is definitely a better place.

A truly hidden gems in palermo. Traditional granma food and dishes (and Im Sicilian).We had sarde alla beccafico, sword fish rolls and cod at sfincione.Amazing food, tasteful and it truly reminded me of home.

We went there with a reservation and still they had run out of most of the starters. Service was terrible. We wanted wine and they did not offer a bottle but just asked if we wanted it red or white and brought a bottle of the most disgusting house wine you can imagine. Cutely was missing for some guests, they did not bring bread (like they did with other tables), we were brought our food at different times and, on the top, food for 2/6 of us was forgotten and prepared in a hurry.Food was mediocre: escalope with lemon sauce was cheap Chinese food, octopus did not have the sea taste you expect, codfish was well cooked but looked ugly and had a lot of fish bones, pasta with sardines was bland and tasteless. And of course we could not order appetizers because they had ran out of all the options we wanted. We certainly did not stay for dessert.

This place looked busy so we came in around 2200. We tried the aubergine tarlet- very nice. Fried squid- meh, sardine pasta-a no no, dry and not fresh, onions wrapped in bacon FAT. The wine was good. service was average..atmosphere was nice because of the jazz music coming from another bar. Would not return or recommend..sorry!

Recommended by our AirBnB host. Unfortunately, we had the worst meal we have ever had in a restaurant.We ordered a half liter of the house wine. Tasted like vinegar. Absolutely the worst glass of wine we have ever had in any restaurant.We were very hungry when we arrived. Sad to say, we didnt finish any of the plates we ordered because they were distasteful. I had the breaded beef-steak which was sickening. I unrolled the beef to see that the inside was almost raw.Service was bad. They have a call button service to get your server. I had to call four times. The server never came. I finally stopped another server in passing to ask for the bill. When we complained about the meal, she offered to bring out other dishes, but at that point we didnt want anything else from that restaurant. To her credit, she gave us a discount. Unfortunately, my stomach is still upset from the meal as I write this.

I work professionally as a chef in London, and visited this restaurant based on two recommendations. Despite this, my partner and I counted six things wrong with the meal. We didn’t go in expecting fine dining, however this wasn’t better than the standard Wednesday night at your local Pizza Express - worse in fact.1. The waiters and manager were unfriendly and passive aggressive. Yeah tourists can be annoying, but it’s no reason to treat people with such bad attitude.2. We ordered still water and we’re given sparkling3. We ordered a salad with tomatoes, melon, green beans and mint. We were given a bowl of pineapple and tomatoes? This we found quite funny, however this might not have been had one of us had an allergy.4. The bread was stale - very stale. I wouldn’t ordinarily mind if it was complementary, however when you have to pay without having asked for stale bread it’s a bit of a niggle.5. The crockery was chipped. It’s dangerous to serve food on chipped crockery, such a well established restaurant should know better.6. Our mains. My partner ordered the fried pasta dish which the restaurant is well known for. It was burnt not fried and left an aftertaste of burnt, and was otherwise bland. My dish, Nero de seppia, also nothing special.We’re not normally those who leave reviews unless things are particularly good, but as the waiters were so unfriendly we felt unable to give our feedback in person in order for it to be constructive. We were left with more than just a bad taste in our mouth!

On my first night in Palermo, alone found this vibrant place full of people of all ages and with a great summer vibe. There was no table but the staff accommodated me. Not so sure about the sicilian cuisine, definitely not a typical italian mood in the menu. More about nibbles and wine. ofcourse I found company there and the night turned out great. Thanks :)

Beautiful interior, absolutely fabulous food and lovely staff - what more do I need to say? Don’t be scared on the fried pasta, it’s phenomenal. Book to avoid disappointment.

Horrible experience!!! Horrible service, bad food .DO NOT RECOMMEND!Food was bad and definitely not fresh!We were in three and the order never arrived until we requested twice, two separate waiters to let us know if the food will arrive anytime soon as it has passed 1 hour or more. We were told that they did not have some ingredients for the appetizer and we agreed to have whatever they had.However, the bad part starts when finally the main dishes ( two of themarrived and they had decided to switch the potato for some old lettuce without even consulting with us.We noticed it immediately and called the writer. The answer was: we don’t have anymore potato. So we asked why did they decide to bring the dish as they did almost an hour and half later before consulting with us and the answer was: because the cook did not let us know.So we asked then what else can they give instead since we don’t want this old lettuce and practically half of our dish is missing. They offered a fennel, which is ridiculous.Not only did they not offer anything or apologize but they were even upset and arrogant claiming that they gave us salad, and by that they mean some old lettuce that no one can or should eat. It ruined our evening.I have not seen such behavior or service in my many years of traveling and will not recommend anyone to eat there.

Our hotel recommended Mangia e Bevi and made a reservation for us. The host was incredibly unfriendly and unwelcoming — and at first pretended to not have our reservation. Mangia e Bevi employees’ attitude is cold and pretentious, which is a joke because there is absolutely nothing to be pretentious about at this place. The food is disappointing and ordinary. The service is rude. Don’t bother.

If you are around during spring, try the artichoke. It is extremely delicious. I had fried pasta with eggplants and tomato as the main dish, loved it. Amazing tiramisu. The waiters dont speak English perfectly but they are friendly and they help you with the menu. Great place for dinner.

Very cool vibe outside! It was very busy when we went, got sat inside and almost forgotten about until after we finally ordered. Then food came fast. Their Mellanzane appetizer is amazing. The rest of our food was so-so: either way too oily or way too salty. The bread is very good though, and their white house wine pretty nice.

The food is good but not incredible. We have to wait more than half an hour to be served just appetizers and pasta for two. The waiters don’t speak English, Spanish or French

I ordered spaghetti and meatballs. It was disappointing. They open at 8pm which is normal for Italy. Staff did their best to speak English. The bottle of wine my husband and I split was good.

Delicious food for a great price. Thr place is fantastic and the service is great. We would recomend this place for tourists. We ordered been stew and the beef was so tender. Beef and potatoes dish was great as well.

Nice local restaurant in the middle of the downtown. We booked the table few days ahead and were lucky since all the places were reserved! The food is very tasty and you can find all the stypes of Sicilian dishes you would like to try. The prices are rational very good value for the money, highly recommend!

I liked it a lot; caponata really good. They have so many clients and you need a reservation (sometimes, same day reservation works too but it’s not a guarantee). Staff is friendly and they move around fast; everything is in a rush there. I would definitely go back.

Quite touristy but very good prices and the option to try many typical Sicilian dishes. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to sit outside. We sat inside and the atmosphere is not as nice. The baked pasta is good.

This is by far the worst restaurant Ive been to for as long as I can recall, in any country. We couldnt get a reservation where we wanted to go, and our hotel recommended this place and got us one here last minute. That became an issue because they mustve miscommunicated, and it took several conversations and phone calls before the restaurant would seat us.The worst part of the experience was the food, as nothing had any flavor or even seasoning. The octopus salad was bland but at least edible, unlike the mushroom salad that was simply dry iceberg lettuce with dry slices of mushrooms and a little cheese on top. There was no dressing, which would have been okay if the table had olive oil and vinegar, but all we had was oil. The eggplant appetizer was alright.The wine selection was house only and served in increments of 0.25, 0.5 and 1 L. On our way out I saw them dispensing it from a box.We ordered the dishes above and were planning to order more, but our server didnt return for at least an hour. The portions were small and yet we didnt finish them, so we were still hungry. At this point I wanted to cut our losses and leave, but its very hard to get a table anywhere in Palermo on a Saturday night without a reservation due to COVID restrictions, so we eventually ordered the pasta with anchovies since we figured they couldnt mess that up too badly, and nothing else on the menu sounded appealing either. It was tolerable but not memorable.Somehow this place was very busy, for what reason I cannot fathom, but I wouldve rather bought some bread and cheese and eaten in our hotel room than wasted money here.

I tried to call there for nearly 1 hour during lunch time and no one answered the phone. So we decided to go there straight at 8pm to get a table. The lady welcoming the guests however said that they are fully booked and they dont have no tables left and said we should have called them to get a table. Well, if they would reply when calling, I would do so.... Thats not customer service...

Unfortunately this was a disappointment. I heard good things but this did not live up to the expectations. The staff was quiet slow and not alert. The food was also bad. The starters were okay but the pasta (we took the sardines pastadid not taste much at all. I had to use salt and ask for lemon. I use to think it is always nice to be in Italy since you can expect good food in most places. However this restaurant proved me wrong. Also they only had house wine and no other alternatives for wines.

A tourist trap. The food is way below any Italian standards. The staff is nice but the food does not do justice to Sicilian or Italian food. We ordered fried calamari and they were very chewy (frozen clamari probably). We didnt make a booking but we showed up at 8pm when they just opened. All thebtables outside were empty but they made us sit inside in a nice summer day supposedly all the tables outside were fully booked. We finished dinner at 910pm and less than half of the outside tables were occupied!

For a local unpretentious Italian dining experience this is the only place to come. The quality and taste of the food is awesome, the best meal we had on the whole trip.The caponata & pasta with anchovies where divine.We were a couple & had a starter, main & half litre of wine for around €30 by far the best value meal we had in the city.

they have all the traditional dishes. just tried the fried pasta and a surprising salad. they are friendly, ok prices, nice tables outside but nice setting on the inside too.

Really nice food I have to say...however the service is too slow and poor, we wanted to order some desert that we saw but they were so busy to even give us the menu for them and same for the bill it was a very bad service for Italian standards

It was okay. Not good, not great. Kind of felt unwanted since we weren’t Italian. The waiter was friendly enough, but we felt like the staff wanted us to order quick and then leave. Good variety of choices and the food was average. We weren’t upset but weren’t entirely pleased either. Octopus salad was good I will say.

Great atmosphere. I had the pasta with tuna which was very salty but good. Its sort of a specialty in the area (as far as I could tell). Not high end dining but great after walking around all day.

We went there for dinner yesterday. I tried melanzane for starter and my partner tried octopus in tomato. Both were delish. I tried the local Sicilian delicacy, Pasta with Sardines, for main which is the reason we were recommended this place. It was well made, though not my kind of dish. The place gets busy fast so make sure you go early or make a reservation. It opens at 8pm for dinner and we called around 7pm to make a reso which worked. We did see a long lineup while leaving. The street is not noisy with very minimal traffic, so we sat outside. They also have fried pasta which could be ordered from 1 person to big groups. Will probably try that next time.

We found this place by accident when walking around in the streets of Palermo and we were attracted by the lively crowd sitting outside.Fast service, the waitress quickly got us a table inside.Lovely decor, this place has a great atmosphere and is beautiful decorated, very cozy.Food was the best we had in Palermo, super tasty, everything was delicious. Tiramisu yum! Great prices too. ☺

I was recommend this place by someone living in Palermo, as above average, casual place to eat. The food was very disappointing. Simply trying too hard, in my opinion. They should let the ingredients speak rather than smather them by fried onions and tomatos. Also there was a piece of plastic (see the photo with blue table clothein the meat dish we had, as well as something looks like a fish bone. As we are not coming back, we didnt complain.
