Osteria Buongustai - Restaurant in Florence, Italy
Authentic Italian meal.
The best place in this part of Florence bar none. Great food, great prices, and great wine selection. Bring ear pro if your hearing is good, because it is insanely loud inside. The bucket of wine in this photo cost less than a bottle of water from one of the expensive street carts nearby. To give you an idea of how good this food was, and reasonable its prices were... After we ate here we wish we hadnt eaten anywhere else but here, the entire time we were here. Expect to wait during peak hours, but go on off hours to save the misery.
Delightful authentic, simple home style Italian cooking. This place is a gem. Try the bacon fat Bruschetta (lard on toast). It is simply divine.
Mind blowing if youre passionate about home made cousine! Highly recommended
Authentic Italian food,great service.
Lovely local place with traditional homemade food and barely any tourists. Economical and great tiramisu. Highly recommended!
Very nice food and good staff
Crepes are great, also the chocolate cake for dessert is very good. They are cash only
The place is cosy and the waiters super friendly. Like eating at your grandma’s. Food was very good as well. Don’t miss the tostas!Only cash!!
Nice place for homemade and delicious food. This is not a typical touristic place, which I value 🤗😉
A small restaurant, expect to wait during peak timings. No frills eat-and-go restaurant ran by a group of Italian ladies serving homemade food. The bruchetta were decent, I loved the risotto. They unfortunately forgotten our order and we had to wait 20 mins for our meal. Cash only.
This little place was great and super local. We were there for lunch on a weekday, and all but two other people were definitely Florentines. The pasta is the star here. Choose from about five different options based on whats in season or fresh in the market that day. In late September, for instance, we had some wonderful pumpkin lasagne and penne with ricotta and eggplant.
I read about this place in a blog. Its hard to miss even if youre walking right next to it. That doesnt stop people from thronging it one by one. I was lucky to be a bit early for lunch. But Ive seen the place fill up re quick. The two ladies that run the restaurant are efficient while keeping the food taste its best. Definitely visit it when youre around piazza del signoria
Felt authentic and was really well prepared. Excellent value. Very kind staff.
Delicious food with warm personnel. Small but cosy place. You must try it
Great cosy place! We enjoyed a lovely lunch there! The atmosphere is warm and the service is quick and courteous. 👍🏻😊
Nice ambiance and tasty truffel pasta. The spelt salad was disappointing unfortunately. Looked and tasted like cooked spelt, pre-cut frozen vegetables from the supermarket and olive oil.
The food was delicious and freshly prepared. It was a lovely place we went back to multiple times.i totally recommend eating here, especially at such a reasonable price.
The Pasta and meat was delicious! I can recommend this Restaurant to everyone who wants authentic italian food, that is not touristic
Excellent in all senses. Main dish, wine and dessert. Really suggest a visit.
Decent food at a reasonable price. Place is cozy, seats are uncomfortable. Upside is you dont pay for service, downside is you also shouldnt expect to get it anyway. Frankly dont understand the high ratings, it was just ok for us. Nothing remarkable or anything you cant get better elsewhere. Its just fairly cheap.
The best place we ate in Italy. Incredible food and service and amazing value for money
Absolutely, undeniably the best meal I have ever had. The queue ran all the way out of the door and for good reason. When you step in theres a kitchen behind a glass wall where you can see these two amazing chefs absolutely smashing service. They must see a couple of hundred covers each lunch but its like watching a well oiled machine. We ordered the bruchetta with tomatoes and olive oil, and the truffle spaghetti and risotto with prawns. Genuinely the best food I have ever had in my life. This place should have a Michelin star so its probably worth going soon otherwise youll never get a table!
Local Italian food at reasonable price. No cover charge and no service charge. Take cash only.
Cozy place with lovely decorations! Love the atmosphere. Truffle spaghetti was heaven! Spinach and cheese gnocchi is also good! Salad is very fresh! And price is very cheap ! The tiramisu looks so good but we were so full, planning to go back tomorrow :)
Great food and prices! Totally worth it!
Excellent restaurant for authentic italian food. Wine was amazing. Also the pastas. Extremely famous with the locals. Always crowded.
The restaurant was small and cosy. And it smelled amazing as soon as you step in it. The selection of food wasn’t a lot, but it was all very delicious. Each dish was €10-12, reasonable priced for the quality of food. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fantastic. A true pleasure to have a meal in such a picturesque restaurant where breathtakingly delicious dishes are cooked at lightning speed with a remarkably kind and fast service.
Gourmet meets homemade! Highly recommend the assorted bruschetta platter, the spinach, the house white wine, and any of the pasta dishes. We were also happy to have a salad here after so many carb-loaded days! The women who run Buongustai are helpful and patient, and even served us a wonderful caffe latte despite it being after breakfast. Prices incredibly reasonable. Note, they accept cash only, thought this is not unusual for Italy. Also, once they run out of a dish, they are out, so if you want your choice of anything on the daily-changing menu, get there on the early side. Buon appetito!
Such and awesome meal. Its a really quick service and defiantly worth the price. I loved my carbonara, thank you
Really good and authentic italian food. The environment is amazing and the prices too!
Nice pasta, fresh and good services.Lunch starts from noon.
Although it is right in the touristy centre of the city, this is a wonderful spot to escape from the crowds. I have recently begun to enjoy Florence less and less given the number of tourists, but on my most recent visit, this place restored my faith. The food is simple and delicious, and owners are wonderful
Very rustic and tradicional place. Some might even say picturesque! Great home-made daily menu! Away from crowds. You may sit next to other people but you get a wonderful feeling of typical Italy! Highly recommended!!
When visiting Florence, you must visit this place, it is very authentic, the people are extremely friendly, and above all, the food is truly amazing! The pasta pesto is a true bargain, for only 7 euros, you get the best home made pasta pesto!
Very nice place to eat and drink something. Panini are €5, a lot to choose. The three sisters who run this place do that with great enthousiasm. Recommended for some local food.
Ok service, very tasty food, good price :I ordered pasta with truffle sauce but it was just truffle oil pasta. It was tasty 😋
Cheap, delicious, and with an excellent rustic vibe. Me and my friends recommend the farro and the orange pie!
Great little place we stumbled upon by accident. Run by older ladies to really make the food taste like "how Mama used to make!".They speak English here and were very fast to serve us at 12pm. It got totally rammed by 1pm so do opt for an early lunch if you want to try it.Tasty food and good service make this recommended.
Excelent traditional italian restaurant! They change the main courses daily according to the fresh products they have and the prices vary from 5€ - 8€. I ate lunch here 3 days in a row and loved every single meal!
Cash only restaurant which appears to be run by a couple of local women. The food was spectacular with the pomodoro bruscetta being a highlight of the meal. While it was such a simple dish, the ingredients and the preparation made it amazing. They have a good selection of house wine to go with it all. Know that the place gets rather crowded around lunch time, and they will seat you with other parties if need be.
Overrrated. The pasta is ok-ish, I actually expected more after reading the reviews here. The ladies do understand English, but could not speak it. However the line is quite long and we have to wait outside as the place is tiny and very busy! The menu is in Italian, and not being able to read Italian mad it a hard time for us to decide out choice. There is absolutely no help from the waiter/the cook! Will NOT go back.
The ladies who run this little cash-only are constantly moving and dont have huge amounts of patience for slow foreigners who dont know what they want. That being said, the food is very good and reasonably priced. We felt very comfortable in this cozy and warm shelter from the cold winter hunger.
We stopped there for lunch on our last day in Florence and we enjoyed some bruschetti as starters, some good pasta and some delicious deserts. Very cozy place, with many locals and a nice atmosphere. The only thing I didnt like is that they didnt have the fresh pasta anymore, and this is why we stopped there in the first place. Good prices for the quality of the food and service.
Great food and coffee . Low $ but closes at 4pm. This Restaurant is run by women who are excellent cooks. They put their heart and soul into this place. Our tour guide suggested it as a place locals would eat in a tourist town.
We stopped in here for lunch while we were in Florence and ordered a Capocollo Sandwich and Farfalle Pesto pasta dish. The meat in the sandwich was excellent, however as is rather common in Tuscany, the bread was dry and tough. The pasta however, was excellent. Id easily recommend coming here for pasta, if youre looking for a sandwich in Florence, you can probably find better.
Lunch hour is absolutely crazy, but its not hard to see why. Most likely you will be sharing a long table with others if youre a small party but the long tables mean you are still left with good elbow and eating room. The food you receive is exactly what you read on the menu with no frilly garnish - full of flavour and a big full plate. In terms of service, we found our waitress to be a little curt, but as we went during the lunch hour and it was only her waiting all the tables, we understood how busy she was and didnt find it a big deal. Towards the end when the crowds had thinned out, she was more than happy to help us figure out which dessert we wanted to try.The desserts were the particular highlight for my family- Generous portions given with the desserts being incredibly delicious with wonderful texture, but not too sweet. We tried the tiramisu with strawberries, with tiramisu without, the cheesecake...! We wouldve tried more but we really were quite full.I dont believe you can book ahead, so be prepared to wait for a bit during rush hour (about 15 minutes at most), or come before or after the hungry crowd has come. The business only deals in cash; no credit cards.
Small restaurant down the street from Hotel Barrocco. Had upstairs and several rooms downstairs. Tight quarters, but good ambience and character. Featured a lot of items with black truffles - all VERY good. Service was strong including the chef and I think owner/mgr coming around asking how meals were, checking in. Would strongly recommend especially if within walking distance.
I dont understand why no one has reviewed this jewel.I found this place from a blog and the food is excellent and very reasonable. Try the daily specials..Tuscan home cooking
