Osteria Antica Mescita San Niccolò in Florence
Description
Privilege
Very atmospheric, good food. Some of the staff make the experience great.
My wife took me to this wonderful hidden gem in Florence. The pappardelle were delicious and breathtaking. Affordable price for a big portion more then enjoyable house wine. Highly recommend🇮🇹🫶
MoreVery nice terrace and friendly waiter. The prosciutto plate was very good quality and the pasta was terrific. Only the house wine was a bit sour but still fair for the price. Would recommend!
MoreBusy and popular restaurant serving local dishes.Tagliatelle with boar meat was very good.Pici pasta was ok; not spicy at all and the tomato sauce lacked character.Great decor; would go back for that. Moderately priced
MoreFood was okay but comes out in 5 minutes after ordering. We had a beer when we sat down bc service is generally a leisure pace. We ordered red wine with dinner but we had to rinse our beer glass out to drink the wine. While finishing wine, coffee, and dessert we were told they needed the table aka leave. We watched them tell another table this as well. We were there for less than an hour
MoreVisited on our last night in Florence. Drinks reasonably priced compared to some places. No thrills food and a busy/ buzzing atmosphere which suited us. Service could be a little friendlier but we are brits. Would recommend.
MoreRestaurant serves great Florentine dishes. Very popular spot.
The food was incredible, Florentine steak was the best I’ve ever had, great wine and nice atmosphere.Expect to be welcome as though they are doing you a favour. Not the politest of staff as some of the reviews say but it’s all part of the charm… worth it for the amazing food
MoreThis super authentic restaurant near Piazza Michelangelo is incredibly delicious and serves traditional tuscan dishes. I was a little skeptical of the meal I got (it had boar in it), but it was SO delicious and I constantly crave it now.The only thing: I suggest either making a reservation or being okay waiting - it gets pretty busy.
MoreTrue Tuscan cuisine for every budget. Totally recommended!
If I could put a 0 star, I would. The worst place, not because of the food (which I haven’t tasted and never willbut because of a man working in there, so repulsive bad hearted person. Not giving the best impression with his rude attitude. He gets nuts easily and he’s actually frightening. So rude and discriminating. For your safety, don’t go.Ooh and besides, I continuously see cockroaches and mice passing by.
MoreAmazing Fiorentina steak. Would highly recommend. Also the pear and chocolate tart for dessert was delicious.
MoreAlesandro was a great waiter. He told us plain and simple, if we get the Florentine steak, we dont have and say in how its cooked, how big it is, and we cannot orde pasta or anything else that will compromise the authenticity of the meal. He wont bring it out! Did not disappoint. Huge steak served rare. Delicious! The cheesecake was light and fresh and should not be missed.
MoreYou want to have a great experience of budget excellent Toscana food ? That is the place. The full packed restaurant has a great quick service. Perfect pasta very nice Tripa, Spinat plate and of course the steaks are great. I highly recommend
MoreGreat service, delicious food. Would eat here again if ever in Firenze again!
We made reservations for a group of 10, only to show up and being told they could not accommodate a group of 10. Even though the restaurant was empty. Why take the reservation then? hard pass. Walk up the road….better options
MoreBad food. Bad sevice. The pasta was babdly cooked, almost raw and the boar really terrible, it messed up my stomach. On top of that waitors were not kind.Avoid this there are much better places in Florence.
MoreEasily the best dinner I’ve ever had. The meat and cheese board was out of this world.
MoreFrom Florence and grew up in Florence - this place is hands down the best rustic osteria in town. Gigi and the crew in the kitchen aren’t f*ing around when it comes to traditional Tuscan food (the type of menu you can choose blindly from), quality on price its dirt cheap, and staff is authentic-nice with a healthy amount of hand gestures. Now that I wrote this glowing review, don’t you dare crowding this place - I’d like to always find table on a random Thursday night. Salute
MorePortion was good. Taste was not that great. Had better Italian food than this. Also waiter was very rude and unwelcoming.
MoreGood place to eat when you go for the garden/viewpoint outside of Florence center. The service and the food was good
MoreFood was good, service was not.Our server was very rude, not only to us but other patrons. He scolded us for changing our minds and ordering an appetizer after he had apparently already put in our order (he was still standing at our table taking our order). We were seated directly in front of the bar/kitchen… our table felt in the way and we were brushed up against and had our chairs clipped/kicked throughout the entire meal. It took forever for us to get our bill because the wait staff pretty well ignored us.Spend your money elsewhere.
MoreA great choice to enjoy Tuscan dishes, I went there 3 times and every single time the food was delicious and well prepared. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful. The wines were very good too. The coffee as well. I cannot wait to go back!
MoreFood was delicious, but service really bad. The guy with the mustage was especially rude, but also the rest. Again, the food was good and the prices are really reasonable. I just wouldnt eat here again because it almost felt like they were intentionally unkind.
MoreIf you wanna eat traditional Firenze/Tuscany meat meals, this is the right place. Great attentive and helpful service. Tables outside are ideal to chat with other customers and observe all the people who are on their way to/from Piazzale Michelangelo. Reservation highly recommended.
MoreA truly unpleasant waiter and an almost inedible porchetta and potatoes. Spinach drenched in oil. Decent pasta. Not usually one to leave reviews but this seemed like an exploitative place and I have not experienced such rude service in 8 months in Italy. it’s clearly doing great business, but not so sure that’s deserved. A miserable, mean-spirited place. Many good reviews on here but I suggest looking at the huge number of one stars - they seem more in keeping with the experience.
MoreBest restaurant so far on our toscana trip. The peposo (meat boiled in wine with pepperis incredible, so are the oven potatoes and the house wine!! Already booked a table to go again tomorrow!
MoreThis place ruined every other restaurant for us in Florence. It was THAT good!!! The service, care and attention of the serving staff was totally unmatched, and the ownership was so kind to us. Wed just gotten engaged and they made us feel like royalty. The food was MIND-BLOWING; their steak sent me to space. Our server Gabriele is an absolute all-star; he was able to cater to our every need and provide a truly transcendental dining experience with his wine and food expertise. You literally HAVE to go here if youre in Florence, no questions asked.
MoreGreat mixed meat platter starter, brilliant bistecca alla florentine, reasonably priced wine, a truly authentic Florence experience
MoreMy 7 month pregnant wife and me went to eat there. We were seated and then someone came to check our covid certificates. We had a Covid pass with 2 vaccine shots done in Germany and a negative test done the previous day. The guy told us that we had to leave because rules require 3 shot vaccine. The combination of a negative test and 2 shot vaccine is equivalent to a 3-shot vaccine which is required in Italy. It was accepted everywhere we went to but not at this restaurant. This is the first restaurant in my life where we were kicked out of. Absolutely atrocious. Please google let us leave -1 star reviews.
MoreSecondo me, among the best places in Florence serving typical Tuscan dishes. The staff is friendly and the food is yummy! They are probably best known for their Papardelle al cinghiale but the other dishes are also equally good. The house wine is also buono and the prices are fair. Io consiglio!
MoreGreat and friendly service, amazing taste! Look up the menu in advance, they only have it in Italian, but the staff helps you a lot.
MoreLovely place, the experience was amazing. The food was very good for a good price. The waiter was very enthusiastic and speaks many languanges, including my own langunage Dutch. The interior design is very cozy and the restaurant has a nice atmosphere. I can recommend this to everyone.
MoreIncredible Italian food with some creative offerings on the menu. An intimate and warm dining area and super friendly staff. Our party of 5 ordered 7 different entrees and every one was tops, not to mention the desserts. So good. Our best meal on an entire trip to Italy. I will miss this place when I’m not in Florence, which is most of the time.
MoreServed by Alexander who was extremely helpful in translating the entire menu for us (no menu in English but with his help it was no trouble). By far the best gnocchi Ive had the chance of trying and the boar ragoût was great as well! The house wine was nice enough to compliment the meals and the venue itself is cozy and clean.
MoreVery busy place so you might have to wait a bit but the food is all worth it.
I had a very nice NYs eve dinner here. I appreciated the fact that they served a la carte menu that day instead of preset so I could select the food I really want. Nice food and friendly staff.
MoreReally great value for authentic fresh pasta. Very Tuscan in style.Feels like true Tuscan home cooking.Cosy atmosphere
MoreAbsolutely fantastic! Wonderfully friendly and engaging staff - happy to discuss the history of the place and describe the food options (menu only in Italian). Michaelangelo had been there so that was pretty exceptional. The food was delicious, decent size and well priced. Highly recommend.
MoreGreat atmosphere!Great food! 🥩 🍝And most importantly….great staff! 👨🍳Loved it! Would go back again!
MoreWe had the grilled pork with potatoes, the cream of pumpkin soup and the ossobucco. It was absolutely amazing. It’s a place that locals eat at. The price is amazing as well for the portion size.
MoreSituated on a beautiful square among other restaurants with outside dining, it was a really friendly welcome, quick service, and the waiter was kind enough to explain what was on the menu to us. This was authentic tuscan dining, and DELICIOUS. Really good value for money.
MoreGreat place if you want to try tuscan kitchen. First time in florence we had waiters which seemed actually happy to work in service. We felt instantly welcome there.
MoreAmazing staff, singing waiter and very good pasta. We had a dish for two people because we werent so hungry and they splited it into two plates. Its a small place but they have a terrace where you can enjoy your food or drinks.
MoreNice and cozy place, with rustic backgrounds. I really liked it, clean, the staff was nice, but because is a bit outside of the main tourist area, it lacks some details, like english menu (only italian). The server was cheerful, and he knew how to explain the menu and the contents, so no big issue there. We did not order many plates, but what we had was good, they were nicely presented.Overall was great experience. Recommend
MoreNo idea about the bad ratings. We have been here a month and ate at about 40 restaurants and this one is the second best we have been too. Prices are cheap (9 euro for thr carbonara), quality is outstanding, like one of the best pasta we had, our waiter, Gabriel, skilled and beyond friendly. Their ine selection also is great and affordable. No copper charges too. Its one of the few restaurants we have been coming back repeatedly.
MoreOne of the best typical restaurant in Florence. Friendly waitresses with a family atmosphere. Superb food and big portions. The perfect spot to "taste" Firenze. Bravissimi !!
MoreNice place to eat, especially if you are going to Boboli or Pitti palace. The place is a genuine Italian restaurant with a great selection of Florence cuisine. Pasta with truffle is very tasty, antipasti also, and the house vine is very good with good price. I liked more the inside atmosphere than the outside terrace and it was also the preference of the company I was with. All in all, a decent place to eat Italian food in Florence, average in quality and price.
MoreBuonissimo. I had the fettuccine sui cinghiale, the roasted pork, and house Sangiovese. It was all delicious but obviously a lot of food, so I had to take it to go. A wonderful couple sat next to me and we talked about differences between Italian, French, and American politics and food. They also highly recommend the chickpea prosciutto dish and the alfredo.
MoreExcellent service! Magnificent food! I recomend the first and second menu (6€+7€): spaghetti con pomodoro and roast beef. So far, the best restaurant in Florence. Grazie!
