Lovely food, polite efficient service but they need to improve their air conditioning. Very uncomfortable on a hot Brisbane day at lunchtime.

Traditional Japanese restaurant with decor from the 70’s. service was very quick and the food we ordered (cooked varietywas tasty and good for value. It has the home cooking feel. Comfortable surroundings and nice drinks list too.

Favourite restaurant in Brisbane. It’s so good you could be in Sydney..or Japan even! Great value too and they have cold Yebisu cans served in a COLD glass.

A little be hard to park during weekdays, but the food the absolutely great!

It tasted too good and I ended up making weird noises.

Not worth all the hype guys, $65 for the Pine course for lunch and the most disappointing of all was the rice. Its not Japanese rice or any sushi rice but some long grain leftovers which is only good for fried rice and the beef quality for my Shabu Shabu was easily the lowest grade frozen beef you can buy, 2 stars only for the efficient service from the 2 young girls will not return.

Cosy place for sushi, sashimi, izakaya plates as well as sake (though they ran out on us: The sushi chef, Richard from Malaysia, was friendly and talented, and we enjoyed his marinated mackerel, uni from Tasmania, yellowtail hand roll, spicy scallop hand roll, and soft shell crab roll. Overall recommend if you want a low key, quality Japanese resturant with good service.

Oshin do a fantastic bacon wrapped hotate that is not to be missed and my friends tell me their Japanese curry is the best in town.

The food is very tasty and presentable and the staff are very friendly, but a bit overpriced.

The food was beautiful and the staff and service were fantastic as always. This restaurant is the place to go when you want to catch up with friends over a quiet dinner or a nice dinner for two.

The food here is overpriced. I’ve been to many Japanese restaurants in CBD and Brisbane metro, but this is very disappointing. The price costs twice for the quality you get. I understand rent in city is higher but it still doesn’t justify the premium price for fast-food grade food quality. Do not recommend sashimi.

Excellent Japanese restaurant. Authentic and exclusive feel. Unless you’ve been introduced you wouldn’t really know how much of a hidden gem this place is. Always busy, extensive menu, one of my go-to’s in the city! 🥰

Fresh and fantastic food! A great selection of authentic Japanese dishes in a peaceful restaurant. The service is excellent and the set menus provide excellent value for money.

Excellent authentic Japanese. Recommend unaju and tempura (lunch set- my boy wolfed down the chicken karaage, elder child gave salmon nigiri strong thumbs up.

Ive been fortunate enough to travel to Japan three times, and visiting Oshin was like being transported back there yet again. The aesthetic of the restaurant is quite casual, but really its the standout food Id go for again. Everything was delicious and great for the money, and the staff very friendly. Cant wait to go again!

Love the ambience, food and friendly staff. Fresh sashimi and beautiful bento food. Light and crispy karaage, silky chawanmushi, appetizing salad, charred yakitori and lovely vegetable tempura.

Best sashimi in Brisbane prepared by sushi chef Richard. He returned to the store mid 2020, and the sashimi is back to five star levels.Large Sashimi Moriawase is a must. As the ingredients are seasonal, you could be getting fresh scallops or squid, and if you thought you didnt like these, just wait until you eat them fresh, prepared the way you were meant to eat them.For the best experience, sit at the bar and watch Richard as he prepares fish so fresh, you can occasionally see him carve the steaks off the fish itself.Forget the commercialised Sake, Sono, Yoko or Blackbird. If you want real sashimi that tastes like sashimi without being drowned in sauce, Oshin is where you want to be.

Great cooking and friendly staff. Legitimate Japanese owner and food is like home cooking.2020 visit - No longer Japanese owned. Food has dropped in quality and would probably not return unfortunately. Has wound up another not legitimate Japanese restaurant. disappointed 😔

Piping hot Ten-don with freshly made Tempura on a bed of saucy rice for $19!Came with 2 prawns, a fish, sweet potato, eggplant and zucchini tempura~It is not on the menu so you have to make a special request for it, truly a hidden gem!

Great food. Best sushimi in town. Service is good but they seem to turn off the A/C when people have finished eating -perhaps to clear people out after lunch?

If you are looking for a proper dinner for yourself, Oshin is second to none, I have never had a bad meal here. Apart from normal sashimi,sushi or bento, sakana and octopus are also good choices. And a fresh garden salad to keep a balanced dietヾ(๑╹◡╹)ﾉ"

Ive only eaten here once, had their katsu don. Even as a take out dish it delivered. Better to book to make sure you get a table. Cant wait to try more!

out of a paper many years ago. Finally managed to visit and we were not disappointed, it was worth the wait. We loved the decor, felt very comfortable there and reminded us of our visit to Japan a few years ago. Communication was a bit broken but the staff went out of their way to make sure they understood what we required. There was a wide choice of food on the menu and also cheaper meals if you required. We enjoyed our meals, prices were reasonable. Would recommend this Restaurant if you enjoy Japanese food.

We found this Great little restaurant that serves delightful Japanese during a recent business trip. The location is excellent and easy access within walking distance to landmarks and public transport. Being mid week and early evening we didn’t find the place to be busy. The ambience very Japanese. The service was excellent and the food was fresh and delicious. We selected the plum banquet with a different choice of main. The servings were very generous and we left feeling very pleased with our choice.

Amazing value and service, bought the set that was on special, $30 for a ton of sushi, steak two entrees and desert, restaurant decor is decent only issue was a sticky table, but overall the best dining experience Ive had in years

Dont be fooled by their small entrance to the 2nd floor. Once seated, you will be presented by the warmth and comfortable seating of this relatively small restaurant. Food however, is amazing and reasonable. Service is both professional and swift. Sashimi and sushi is fresh and portions are very generous with thick slices of fish. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be back to try other food on the menu.

Had a “quick” lunch at Oshin on a Friday. People were nice and friendly. It was a hot day in Brisbane, so I was quite disappointed that their restaurant aircon wasn’t cold. The food was OK. The sashimi slices were nice and thick but unfortunately it was warm and the sashimi rice was also quite warm. Tables were also very sticky. These problems are easy to fix as it would be a shame to lose out on a well located Japanese restaurant.

Had their chicken teriyaki lunch set. It was fantastic. The chicken pieces were tender with a hint of charred taste that really brought out the flavour. Miso soup was very authentic too.Would definitely go back to try other dishes.

I went Friday night, good atmosphere, quick service, tasty food , normal price and my vegetarian menu was the best option.

Good food but sitting is quite tight space. Also was really hot inside the restaurant as the air conditioning was not functional.

I went there with my husband on Christmas eve. We order a promotion set. Dishes were served one by one from entree to dessert. Great quality of food! Moreover, the restaurant gave me an authentic Japanese atmosphere. Will definitely go back.

A bit expensive when compated to the portion size. The services were good but the taste was average. If u wanna have sashimi, u should go there before 1pm. Otherwise, it will be all gone.

天丼 (bowl of tempura on riceand だし巻き卵 (Japanese style omeletwas pretty tasty, but the staffs were always in a rush (looking around vigorously, bumping on to tables and not saying anything etc. and made me a little bit uncomfortable.It might have been a busy time but I would like a more relaxed atmosphere.I ordered green tea ($3and it came in a pot, but it didn’t taste like green tea. It tasted more like 玄米茶 (genmai teaor 麦茶 (barley? tea).Also, minimum $25 for paying by card is not great..But once again, food was good.Overall would like to rate 2.5, but seems like I can’t do that so I just rounded to 3.

I was looking around for a Japanese restaurant in Brisbane during our business trip here and found this on Google with high rating. In the last several days we visited a few Japanese restaurant in the area and were totally disappointed. We vowed not to have any Japanese food unless we are certain that its good. Somehow we have forgotten about the rule that we have set.(1This restaurant is run by Malaysians. You can tell by the level of service you receive and the language they speak. There is no Japanese here.(2Rice is terrible. When I looked at it closely, I found out they mixed long grain and short grain rice together. A cheap way to cut cost.(3Sashimi is thick, soggy, and grainy. We stopped eating half way.(4They use microwave a lot! Sit and listen carefully. Youll hear the beeps and when they open/close the microwave door.

Love this place for a business lunch. Staff are very attentive and the food is spot on. Ive always found the sashimi to be extremely fresh and well presented.The drinks list is short but well priced and balanced.

Tasty, fresh and tender food, presented in elegant array with lovely dishware. Very cute sauce dispenser. Pricey but a splendid experience. Located conveniently near Central Station and several bus-stops. A hidden gem up the stairs. Swift and smooth service.

The meal was nice and relatively well prepared. Here’s why I give three stars:1. The service was not to restaurant standards. We asked what the banquet menus included and our wait staff weren’t able to explain what they were. We had to wait a long time to order (with menus closed and trying to make eye contactfor an unreasonably long time.2. The price does not meet expectations. While the meals were delicious because of the service level and the reasonable meal preparation standards, they did not meet the expectations of an award-winning restaurant.I would probably look elsewhere for the sukiyaki experience.

Nice quiet hidden spot for lunch or dinner. You don’t get much road noise because of the upstairs location and there’s soothing music piped in. Decor is dated but relaxing. Got the Plum set for 3 people at $30 each and there was a lot of food. Simple stuff like fried crab cakes, sashimi, chawanmushi, miso soup, a main and green tea ice cream. Food was good but not excellent. It’s still a good place for a meal though

My favourite place to eat in Brisbane. Ive eaten at a lot of Japanese restaurants and have been to Japan multiple times and can say that this is consistently one of the best Japanese restaurants serving excellent traditional Japanese food. Great beer and sake direction. Quiet, intimate atmosphere. Decor quite dated which kind of adds to the charm.

Ordered a Pork Katsu Don. Presentation was good. Taste was okay, nothing special. As a lunch set, its pretty good for the value in the city. Waitress was nice but the cashier staff was not as expected.

Im surprised at our experience as the reviews looked good. We had agedashi tofu, tempura, and fried chicken. It would be the worst Japanese we have had. Felt terrible, paid and left without speaking up. Service from staff was good, speed of food good, just the quality.

It does, however, taste pretty good. Unfortunately, the price seems too high for the size of the portion. Customer service is good.

The restaurant has a very nice ambience any occasion. It is suitable for company dinners, dates and families! The food is extremely fresh and you can tell from the food arrangement that the chef puts his heart and soul into making sure that his customers are always satisfied! One of the best place for dinner with a large variety of sake and beer.
