Orozco's Restaurant - Puerto Rican restaurant in San Juan, Puerto Rico
I’ll start by saying that the food was really good. The mofongos in particular were really good. However, the service was horrible. We waited a really long time just to get water, and the restaurant wasn’t even busy at all. One of the waiters brought us a sangria that we had not ordered, and we told them. They just left it and we assumed it was on the house. Another waiter then stormed back a few moments later, abruptly grabbed it from us and started yelling at another waiter telling him that the Sangria wasn’t for our table. They then just poured it down a sink practically in front of us. It was just a very odd way to handle the situation and somewhat disturbing. The staff was not helpful and apathetic the whole meal as well.
Stopped here for dinner with the family while on a cruise. The food is authentic, flavorful and just down right damn good. Awesome service and live music. Dont hesitate to stop in.
I ordered medium steak. Came out well. I told Manager. Manager walked away and said something rude in Spanish. They all his coworkers looked ate and laughed. Only place in San Juan I would never go again.
This food was very good however they should let you know they added gratuity to the bill when you pay and they just give you a credit card slip to sign. Warning to tourists however recommend the food and staff was accomadating.
This place is as authentic as it gets. The flavor, the ambiance, the service, and the music. If you want a glimpse of what Puerto Rican food should taste like, this is the place to go!
The food was excellent, staff very friendly, but the drinks are kinda weak. Would recommend
Shrimp empanadas were as advertised, stuffed potatoes were not, mofongo was bland as expected, shrimp cocktail was shrimp cocktail, and the Red Snapper was bland. Not one person working here looked like they enjoyed being there nor did they care if we did.
Very flavorful. Everything was good. Love that pepper sauce, well at least i think it was. Can we buy it? I’ll be back next vacation.
Ive spent years as a kitchen manager. I sometimes am very picky. But this place left me speechless. The food is amazing. The best Mofongo I have ever had. Great portions and most of all fantastic service. I will be back as often as I can.
The person who took our order was very friendly and patient...Their Mofongo was amazing! Overall nice experience...Will visit them the next time Im in San Juan!
Food is always amazing here. I ate here twice during my 4 nights in the area. Authentic Puerto Rican fare with friendly staff. Its a MUST go if you are in Condado. It gets busy as the night goes on and by 730-8 there is usually a line down the sidewalk waiting for a table.
Food was excellent! The employees were all helpful and attentive. The only knock, and to no fault of their own, is the loud construction noise across the street. But definitely the best PR food Ive had in the area.
Great food. Had the trifongo and it was excellent. Also had the fried yellow plantains and I thought they were very good. Others had some of the non-local fare like the Alfredo and they really enjoyed it. The atmosphere is very festive - they had a saxophone player there and it just had this great Caribbean vibe. The mojito was excellent but not very strong. The service was a little slow but that was ok for us as we just sat back and enjoyed the atmosphere.
Food is fire! Hot sauce is something like crack. It can go on anything and makes it taste better! Service was great as well. We haven’t been here in 6 years and there are some changes that made me take a star. They used to give an amazing bread basket with Puerto Rican warm bread, now no more. They used to be a quiet hole in the wall, now it’s ruined full of people. Glad to see them prosper but took away some of the quaintness it once had.
A friend recommend this restaurant, told me it was the bet food in town. Honestly I was not impressed at all, the pork chop was dry and hard like rock and no flavor at all.The empanada was good, so I can’t speak for all the food there, I guess you just got know what Is good and what is not.I decide to go back and try something else. And this time the food was awesome.Service was good both times. Second time there was live music and I really enjoyed. It’s worth to give a try.
Service was not so great but it was a very busy night. Service seemed disorganized.Empanadas were very good and so was the ceviche. However our entrees were not so good. We had the garlic snapper and it wasnt seasoned very well.
The pasteles taste horrible, nothing like the ones my mother made but roast pork, arroz con guadules and plantanos Maduros were really good. Waiters were great, the music was also great.
If you don’t stop in your missing out! Solid Pinas and Cold beer ! The Food is Delicious and The Mofongos are slamming ! Take it form a New Yor Rican this food is worth it 👍🏽🇵🇷🇵🇷
Absolutely delicious! Went based on a recommendation from Reddit and am very glad we did. The alcapurrias and croquetas de jamon were insanely good and the mini empanadas were also very good. We had the churasco (skirt steakand pernil (roast pork - in the picture belowmofongo (with green plantainsand they were excellent. The mango mojito was also incredible. Was a bit expensive, but would definitely go back.
Looks humble but this place boasts of killer prices and impressive plates. Dont wait to try it or youll be missing out! The staff is so sweet and helpful and friendly too. Authentic PR food paired with live music from locals.. just loved it here
Last night was our first meal in Puerto Rico. The food was great at Orozco’s, however, they forgot about us. We ordered the trio mofongo and waited and waited and finally after several passes us and never checked on us, a server said he was sorry that they forgot to put our order in. He offered two complimentary drinks. We patiently waited thinking this was the slower pace here verses Dallas, TX. I do recommend the restaurant, but our first night service was a bit disappointing. Great food though!!In response to Orozco’s reply, service is a very important part of the entire experience of dining. The food as great! The service, however, was not. We were forgotten for over 1 hour with no one checking on us. We are from the states and didn’t know if this was the norm for PR so we patiently waited. One very kind young male server apologized and admitted to the female waitress forgetting to put our order in. I read reviews before going to a restaurant and want to be honest and transparent for others.
Amazing place! People that works here are awesome!!! Food will blow out your taste! Highly recommend it!!! Trio Mofongo and alcapurria!! Mist try it!!!
READ YOUR BILL BEFORE YOU HAND THEM YOUR CREDIT CARD.The fine print on the menu says that for parties of 4 or more, there is a 15% tip included on the bill. They added a 15% tip to our bill for a party of two, and then the credit card receipt that you sign came with the option to add tip with the "total before tip" being the one with 15% tip included. If you tip 20% like we normally do, then youre actually tipping 38%. Ive never left a written review of a restaurant in my life, but this is so egregiously bad that I have had to make an exception. Its not a mistake, either - theres reviews going back years mentioning this, which we didnt check before going out there for a special occasion.
Great skirt steak ($27and green plantains. Rice and beans were pretty good too and the mojito ($11wasnt too bad either. Great stop for any tourist looking for local dishes.
Fantastic!!! This place was on Diners Drive-ins and Dives.. and it deserves it. I had the roast pork Mofongo... delicious. And their house made hot sauce is out of this world.
Thats right I started eating the pork chops because they look so good before I took a picture of them. Highly recommend the most juiciest flavorful smoked flavored pork chops Ive ever had.
We truly enjoyed the ‘maduro mofongo’ here. They do a sweet plantain mofongo with roast pork on top that is excellent. Good enough for a repeat. We also enjoyed the ham croquettes that are authentic and delicious. Their mango margarita was good too. The only quirk was on the first visit. Upon arriving, the server informed us that upon being seated, it could take an hour before we received our food. The restaurant was not terribly busy so I was baffled. Fortunately we were undeterred and enjoyed our meal. I think all of San Juan is still suffering from Covid times and securing employees to make things work.
Amazing food great vibe. The staff was very friendly and had great energy they were dancing to the music . The shrimp mofongo was delicious and very filling. The steak and rice was on point cooked to perfection!
The mofongo was amazing! The empanadas were just okay. The service is very slow but definitely worth it for the mofongo. The virgin pina coladas were also really good and for only $5, it’s a must try!!
Such a wonderful restaurant located in Condado! Very close to the beach and service was wonderful! I tried the pork mofongo and it was delicious! The plantains were tasty and the sauce was very flavorful. Fun fact: Guy Fieri recently stopped by the restaurant to try their food and Orozco’s Restaurant got the stamp of approval so catch them on Food Network!
Food was awesome! So were the margaritas! The waiters and all the staff were friendly and attentive!
I loved this restaurant! The food was great. The drinks were amazing and the service was on point! Thanks to the staff...I cant wait to return❤.
As somebody who grew up in an island, I’ve always loved plantains, and in San Juan, this is the place for delicious sweet plantains! We loved all the dishes we ordered here as well. The pulpo (octopusmofongo was given a thumbs-up by my son, the filete de tilapia with rice + pigeon peas on the side with criolla sauce melted in your mouth, the pasta with marinara sauce was delicious, and the vegetable plate was good. If you’re vegan or vegetarian, there are some options here. It was good to celebrate Mr. J’s birthday here — authentic Puerto Rican cuisine.
I came here on vacation last week, and it was honestly the best Spanish food i’ve had! It was reasonably priced and the servers are very attentive and so friendly! Also loved that they have to-go cups for your beverages lol I’m definitely coming back to this place when I come back to PR!
Drinks are great and you can feel that home cooking love in each bite of food. Dont just walk past this place and miss out. Worth the time to visit, sit down and enjoy the ambiance and the good and drink.
After 3 cafes and few other restaurants, I finally found a place that tastes authentic. The ambience is relaxed, but the background music is very nice.I highly recommend the trio mofongo platter and the Combinacíon puertorriqueña. !Buen provecho!
Delicious food, and very friendly waitstaff. I ate there a few times on my vacation because I just couldnt get enough.
Very slow service.. slow service to collect the plates .. to get the bill just everything. It wasn’t busy even so it’s a lot of waiters. Food was okay and it was fulfilling. The salmon was grey in color. Fish that is grey in cooler means that it was breed in TOILET WATER along with chemicals that is toxic at high levels. Google it! The only thing that was good tasting was the pina colada, the rice & plantain. Maybe other things on the menu was good. I really would not try again. Overall, place is overrated. 4/10.
Ordered mofongo with vegetable filling, empanadas (carrot and broccoli fillingwith Absolutely amazing rice dish. My far favorite was this rice dish with peas. It was just super yummy and must do. They also have a homemade hot sauce which was super flavourful. If you ask, they will sell you the sauce in empty water bottles. I took two of them to take back home - the sauce was that good :went very well with mofongo (which I found a bit too garlicky for my tasteand also with empanadas. Hosts were gracious.
Delicious food, excellent service. True homestyle cooking, you can taste the love!
Had the beef empanadas, beef steaks and onions and the skirt steak. We both have white rice with red beans and sweet plantains as our sides. The food was amazing. The pina colada was tasty as well. The employees are all very friendly. I highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area!
Let me just say! I wanted to come back again and again during my trip but I just didn’t have time. I loved that everybody was checked for the vaccine card or a negative covid test. 5 stars and I will definitely be back when I come back to visit. The snapper was the best I had on the island!
Great service an tasty food! Thank you for the local flavor. Also good covid19 etiquette. Must show vaccine record or negative vovid test. Thank you for keeping us safe.
Great place. Service and food was fantastic. Staff was pleasant and welcoming felt like having dinner at home.Must try:#1 Pina colada#2 The appetizer sampler (no image). You get a variety is traditional appetizers enough to share especially if youre a party of two.#3 Mofongo Trio, its more then enough to share. They were all different and delicious.
This 5 star rating is based on the food. It gets a little rowedy in the evening and the guy at the front door was a little rude and short with customers but the food delicious. Note... can take awhile to get food. We ordered 2 empanadas and arroz con gandules to go and it took over 40 mins to get our food.
I had the sweet plantain Mofongo with shrimp in red sauce and my husband had the chicken. The chicken was a little light on the protein, but overall the food was good.
The mofongo was the best I had in San Juan. The piña coladas were great and the mojitos, very good. With this said, the meal and drinks were reasonably priced and the best restaurant in the area, went there twice.
This was my first stop on my current trip to get some authentic Puerto Rican cuisine and it was phenomenal. The drinks, food, service was an A+ and it was so good I decided to come back a second time before I left to go back home. Definitely a place to go for good food.
Great food, great drinks, attentive waiters and a good vibe. We loved the place and had dinner here twice during our stay. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to partake in the local cuisine! Will definitely come back on my next visit to this wonderful island!
We visited back in July. Great Service! Our waiter was very nice (and patient! He was happy to explain the menu and answer any of our questions. The food was delicious! It was great to get authentic PR cuisine!
