Oro - Continental restaurant in Dhaka, Bangladesh
Oro in Dhaka
Description
Privilege
One of the best and expensive lunch place in Gulshan CBD.
I have been seeing reviews about Oro all over social media and you bet this was one of the place I wanted to try for a while. So I went there with my friends and we picked the dishes that stood out the most to us and that was the their Oro holey burger, French toast and the chicken fideau. Firstly the ambience of the place is absolutely beautiful and you can feel the relaxing environment the moment you walk in. The décor of the place is minimalistic which also adds to the relaxing mood of the restaurant. The servers are very professional and helpful. Now, the big question, how’s the food? I will give an A plus for the decor as every dish were presented beautifully. However, I was very underwhelmed when it came down to the taste of the food. Other than the burger, which I frankly enjoyed as it was a decent burger, it still made me ponder, was it worth the 800 taka price tag though? It was a decent burger yes, but that’s all it was. And when reaching to the middle of the burger while eating I noticed some parts of the patty were incredibly salty which perhaps could be due to not properly mixing the ingredients during preparation. The french toast looks glorious of course but it was again super basic and nothing extraordinary for the amount it was being charged (600+). Now coming to the last and definitely the worst dish lol, the chicken fideau. It was basically fried noodles with four small pints of that white creamy sauce and somechicken cubes. My friend took this dish and while eating, to our unfortunate surprise, she found a strand of hair in the fideau. I mean none of us mind a hair or two in food at home but hey, given the price and location of the restaurant, a proper hygiene should’ve been a given right? Anyways my friend chose not to make a fuss about this, and I will not be cutting a star off my review for this either. But yes the chicken fideau, how did it taste? It reeked off seafood. None of us could figure out what could’ve been the reason for the awfully fishy smell coming off it but well we aren’t fideau experts so it could’ve been an essential ingredient required to make fideau? Basically what I’m saying is if fideau go to Oro (don’t mind my pun), you might want to skip this dish. Take the burger, it is incredibly pricey yes but like I said it is decent and maybe a good treat to give yourself once in a lifetime while you internally cry about your financial choices. Overall, I will still recommend the place if you want to experience the fine brunch or dining life. Will come back again for the “wallet friendly” burger again.
MoreGood environment for family dinners. And their burgers are extraordinary.
Excellent food and service. Lovely ambiance. A must visit.
Their service and ambiance is notable but the food was nothing special and to me, not worth the price they are charging. The duck stood out the most from the dishes we ordered. It was cooked perfectly and tasty. The salmon wasn’t very good, wouldn’t recommend it. I also enjoyed the beef tacos but nothing extraordinary there as well.
MoreA very overhyped and overpriced restaurant, with average food. The taste of the food and drinks were extremely disappointing.
MoreGreat restaurant with a superb menu. If you are not that worried about expenditure, this is a must to go to a dinner place. Great ambiance for a casual dinner or date night. Perfectly curated continental choices are a bliss. Overall a rare complete package in Dhaka city.
MoreMight be the best place in Dhaka ! Very nice and tasty food...cooked in front of you. Chief cook! Clean place and nice staff. Prices correct. To recommend! Will come again.
MoreI find a restaurant very rarely, where I loved every item I ordered. And Oro Dhaka is that place. Great services and great food! Highly recommended. It is a pretty expensive restaurant but worth the money as the food is delicious.
MoreSea food and exotic food items are always preferred each and every time I go for dine in. ORO DHAKA is a perfect match to that. The ambience was really good and cozy. Early reservation in weekends should be done. The service personel were good enough. We ordered for Pan Seared Salmon, French Duck Confit, Oro Burger & Fries in mains. Carrot Cake Slice in desert. A complimentary dish was also served. It was breads topped with salmon cubes. Prices are little bit high but taste of all the food was worth it. Some upgradation should be made in beverages. Its 9/10.
MoreFood Quality is too good and expensive. And Spanish food items they can make deliciously 😋
MoreAs a traveler from USA I highly recommend this restaurant. it is open kitchen concept and I sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen. The staff is well trained, the kitchen is immaculate, and the food quality is high. It has a nice menu with affordable prices.
MoreReally really good food.
Totally different food choices n flavour..Beautifully decoratedA bit pricey
Ahhhh…. The food! Absolute pleasure of fine dining. Food, service, ambiance…. everything deserves 5 stars.
MoreBeautiful interior. Loved the mains we ordered (Herb grilled chicken and salmon)Not a fan of the bone marrow or key lime pie.
MoreGreat food great food. Pricey but how else can you the experience.
Far and away the best restaurant in Dhaka. Care and attention is meticulously paid to the menu offerings and preparation of the dishes. Quality of ingredients is evident. Professionalism of staff is hard to beat. They are very welcoming and accommodating to special requests as well. On the whole, Oro offers an unparalleled dining experience which other restaurants in Bangladesh would be wise to emulate.
MoreBeautiful restaurant with great food. More on the pricier side of course, but the food and atmosphere both feel like fine dining so its worth it. Highly recommend the ceviche and their Japanese style duck breast.
MoreMy most favorite restaurant in town, love love love their food
Good food, lovely ambience, great bread. Loved the painting in the washroom.
Great ambiance, but the food isn’t anything special. My favorite there is the Salmon Tartare, but I could get that pretty good at any other Japanese restaurant in Dhaka. The disappointment was when they served steak & didn’t give steak knives.
MoreBest food in Dhaka city. Cozy little restaurant in gulshan 2. A must go😉♥️
MoreHorrible Customer Service.Went to the place for a cup of coffee because I badly needed some caffeine. When I ordered, the server was like what about hot meal!!! I was like I do not have the appetite. The server reluctantly served my coffee. The server was very disrespectful. Will not go to the place where I will be judged based on what I am ordering.
MoreLoved the food. Very tasty
One the best fine dining experience that Dhaka has to offer. The place is moderately sized and is divided into two storeys. Ambiance is calm and top notch. Everything feels tastefully done. Our servers were very professional and served us quite well. We were given complementary bread whole we ordered which was a nice touch. We had the Ravioli which had stuffed salmon. It was made to my expectation. It was creamy and had a generous portion of salmon filling. The pan seared salmon was great as well. I would’ve liked a bit more sear so it would’ve browned much nicer. Nevertheless, it was scrumptious as well and worked well with the side of salad. Finally the Bone Marrow was good as well. Maybe some seasoning could’ve made it better but still it was fulfilling having it with some bread. The buttery texture of the bone marrow shined well with the equally good bread.
MoreMy most favorite restaurant in dhaka! Exceptional dishes with heart warming guest service. Hard to get a table. Early reservation preferred. They must update dessert & beverage menu though.
MoreI ordered the lasagna and the house burger. The burger was the saddest burger Ive ever seen in my life and both tasted overwhelmingly of processed cheese. The only thing I actually enjoyed was the complementary slice of baguette. Their service was top notch though, but I left feeling cheated given that the burger was 10 dollars (about 800+ takaand the lasagna was 20 dollars (about 1800+ taka). You can take your money and have a better meal at E Bistro or even The Grove (if you want continental).
MoreGrilled Salmon- Pan seared salmon fillets with whole grain mustard sauce served on a bed of spinach with a side of croquette, fresh veggies, lettuce and cherry tomatoes. The beautiful fish fillets were cooked to perfection, soft, sweet and filling. The creamy sauce and spinach complimented it perfectly. Highly recommended!Price BDT 1200++Beef Tenderloin- I tried one slice of beef tenderloin from my friend and was disappointed! It was salty and tough not my preferred doneness but I’ll let that one slide considering their consistency in general. Do ask for your preferred doneness while ordering.Price BDT 1200++Amuse bouche (Complimentary)- Toasted crunchy bread slices with creamy garlic spread.*Make reservations in advance.*
MoreOne of the nice fine dining in Dhaka, premium food and cost. We tried several items from their starter menu. The food presentation is good and taste is authentic.Location wise nice, on gulshan avenue opposite to north end. They take last order at 10pm, so thats an issue for late dinner. Also on a Thursday night, this place is full of people, so might need early reservations.
MoreVisited with family and enjoyed the food, excellent ambience, staffs are friendly and helpful except they were talking loud among themselves near the kitchen/counter.Surely will visit again.
MoreIzumi, a sister concern has tastier food than this. However, its slightly cheaper than Izumi.
MoreThe food was amazing but the service was poor. The server rushed us to order within...it was only 15 minutes after we entered the restaurant.
MoreAwful food but highly expensive. Waiters judge ppl upon order amount. Absolutely rubbish
MoreGood food, great service, and ambiance. Just ask before ordering something, because not everything will be to your liking for sure.
MoreWe didnt like the food very much, its expensive too.
Oro is a continental restaurant with a mixed kitchen, taking a selective range of cuisine from around the world. I thought of trying Seafood Paella. I did not expect a Valencian Paella, but it turns good. The grilled avocado was extremely good. The portion could not satisfy me, but I remembered of my calorie limit and thanked the chef. The location, decor and ambience - all were good. Recommended for the clientale that prefers quiet dining.
MoreEasily one of the best restaurants in Dhaka. The ambiance is brilliant. I loved the food; which is a bit pricy. The cost of two people eating a full meal is 8-10k.The seafood items are inspired; a perfect blending of Iberian and Bengali cuisine. The ingredients are of high quality and you can taste that in your food. The meat items are okay but not great. I found them to be too salty.
MoreOne of the best fine dine restaurants in town with upmarket pricing but quality ensured.
MoreThe food is really good.
Amazing food. The stake is so soft and the best brownie I tasted in Dhaka.
Great Fine Dinning Experience!!
Nice dine experience, lack of seating area, but diversity in menu, quaint environment and nicely decorated.
MoreLoved the snow fish! Ox tail n rice was g8 as well!
Its the best fusion good in Dhaka. Undoubtedly
Ambience of this place is very very nice. Food is also very good and tasty. Chicken and duck was juicy from inside and tasted superb. Overall liked the place very much and will revisit. But price is very high.
