D’Albora Marinas, Spit Rd, Mosman NSW 2088, Australia, Mosman
Innovative Italian food, made with locally sourced produce, in a stylish locale with a seaside deck.
Mind-blowing good!Seafood taken to another level.Service is also one of the best Ive experienced.Chefs come out and explain the dish.
Such a great experience. We were there to celebrate my wifes birthday. The food was amazing, with great wine pairing and excellent service. One of the top experiences Ive had in a restaurant. Kudos to the team.
Good staffs, excellent food, nice area! And the dessert was mere heaven!Just took a star out as it was overall little salty for me.
Wow, this restaurant was amazing. Every dish was beautiful. The staff were fantastic. The setting is so pretty and even a seal popped in to say hello.
For a special night out, with seafood delicacies. Ormeggio, “mooring” in Italian, overlooks the marina at the spit, between Mosman and Seaforth on the Northern Beaches. It’s an idyllic location, with the beautiful boats moored against the backdrop of the Harbour and the trophy homes perched up on the hills. The Italian theme is clear in the cuisine, with many classics newly interpreted. We enjoyed the focaccia and scallops for starters, the octopus for a sharing entrée, Kingfish and Swordfish for mains, and the banofee pie for dessert. The wine list is extensive and considered one of the best in Australia, and the liquor trolley offers a great way to round out the evening. For a date night, a special evening with friends, or a high class business dinner with esteemed guests, this is a guarantee. Bravissimi!
This restaurant continues to serve delicious food, in an environment that is very conducive to quality conversation. We dined at night, so the views are hard to appreciate, but are stunning in the day.The tasting menu was generous and each dish was top quality. This restaurant is a must for those that enjoy quality seafood.
This is the most amazing and friendly restaurantWe went to the restaurant next door and it was loud and busyWe had eaten at Ormeggio before and left and proceeded to Ormeggio. The hostess is amazing - friendly attentive and interested. What an asset to the businessWe travel from the Blue Mountains and they made our lunch today amazing. That octupus was insane.........The pastry chef was so passionate about her desserts and so friendly to usA class act... well done to your staff
It truly doesn’t get better than this. The setting, lovely team members, incredible wine list and out of this world food. Sydney has the best dining in the world and Ormeggio is up there with the best!!
One of my favourites! Some of the most beautiful sea food I’ve had. Staff are always so friendly & attentive, explaining every detail of the food and drinks menu. The tasting menu is perfectly curated, combining unique flavours with the freshest ingredients. Highly recommend!
Very good quality and wine service, I celebrate my wedding anniversary with my family in here and enjoy the wonderful time. 🥰
From the moment we were greeted at the door to the time we left, nothing but positives to say about Ormeggio at The Spit. Service and staff were exceptionally friendly and professional. Food was amazing to say the least, and the atmosphere and view overlooking the spit were spectacular. Our first time dining there, but definitely not the last! Highly recommend! AAA
Very friendly staff, good location, unique dishes, amazing mix of tastes and flavours. All in all a brilliant experience. Worth every penny but still quite expensive at $250 pp with no alcohol.
Great food and beautiful venue . The spanner crab pasta was the mark of the meal.
Lovely experience and attentive staff. We did the degustation with premium matched wines. Our favourite was the crayfish linguine main and the lemon gelato dessert. Some dishes were quite rich, but overall a very tasty lunch. We will be back to try their Spring menu.
I have to say for a fine dining experience I was disappointed. . I accept the fact there was another booking following ours, but not to be offered a tea or a coffee and to have an eftpos machine walked around the table requesting payment was not professional. The quality of the food was delightful the value for money was not . Then toadd insult to injury and be asked to leave the restaurant after we had left the table …. A better approach might have been to suggest to chat in the foyer …. Anyway what is done is done
Great experience! Friendly service, incredible food and a great view 🙂
Truly exquisite food, beautifully presented and excellent service! The chefs suggested menu was varied, well-paced and more than enough. In particular, the pasta course was simply delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening!
"Grateful to have high caliber and high quality restaurants like The Ormeggio in our local neighbourhood. Very professional and friendly staff. High quality and delicious food. Perfect for special occasions and daily fix for seafood cravings. Highly recommended. Definitely will come back :-)"
What can I say we had a sensational lunch at Ormeggio at The Spit in MosmanRight on the waterfront with amazing viewsThe food and service was perfect.Everyone at the table said they would definitely come again and left happy.Very nice restaurant for special occasions so they deserve their 5 stars
Excellent service, lovely food, and the best gelato ever! Ive visited twice in the last few months (once set menu and once a la carte), and enjoyed myself very much both times. If its your first time, the chefs selection set menu is a great choice.Views at lunch time are absolutely beautiful, especially on a sunny day.
This was the special event Northern Italian feast featuring Alessandros traditional spit roast. That was amazing in itself, but what astounds me and how simple things like bread and polenta are just as wow here. Impeccable service too.
Disclaimer: I love this place. Sometimes the high end restaurants can feel a bit stiff or forced, but Ormeggio is all class and all relax at the same time. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable but not in a showy way - they made our table feel special, at home and welcome and I love that.We had a range of starters ("snacks"that I could have eaten many times over they were so good. Favourite was something that looked like a tuna taco that is not given any justice with my description but was just a mouthful of straight up delicious. And an achovy toast that again, is let down by my description - i dont even order anchovies on pizza but this was next level and I now respect the magic of a good anchovy done really well.Out of the mains, the stand out that I keep talking about is a squid ink pasta that there is a photo of on the website. I dont have a photo because our table demolished it too fast it was so good. The sun was shining, food delicious (seriously every mouthful is super delicious and top quality), staff lovely and its fun to watch the boats and decide which one wed live on when we win lotto.I also love they research and ensure their seafood is sustainable (we were chatting with the waiter about itwhich they dont make a big deal about but should because it is important and to be applauded. This is my favourite special occasion restaurant. Beautiful.
It was 8 years ago when I first visited Ormeggio. Tonight when we walked in I was very impressed with their renovated interior design. All bright and open. After 8 years, their food is still at a high quality standard and even more creative than before.I had the signature cocktail Sweet and Salty and it’s exceptionally nice considered that I’m actually not a whisky person and the presentation of the cocktail was indeed very unique & creative. We tried 2 snacks from the truffle menu and they were very nice. Basically every dish we ordered was delicious. I particularly love the dessert - Yoghurt & Peanut, the slightly sour tasting yoghurt mixed with the sweet peanuts & caramelised pumpkins really delights all my tastebuds. A bit pricy but worth the money.
Average at best, the waiters were nice enough but tried to up-sell me on everything. Ended up over ordering and couldn’t finish, was a bit annoying. The gf told me they use to be much better back in the day
Amazing experience at Ormeggio, the food is fantastic and the service was attentive and friendly. It was our first time there and we really enjoyed it. The cuisine is basically Italian Seafood but done in a fun, inventive and interesting way. Also the plating and service is unique, would highly recommend checking them out when you can.
Went there for lunch.Beautiful tranquil spot.Waiters were excellent.Received great service that is forgotten in some places. We ordered the $75 pp share plate.Which consisted of 7 dishes including desertEvery dish was perfect.Highly recommended.
Enjoyed the signature degustation. Always nice to do the matching wines as it gets you out of your wine comfort zone and trying new grape varieties. Ambience is nice down on the water at the marina. Service was really fast, good and friendly. Clearly well staffed. Enjoyed. Try one of their classic cocktails with a twist.
Had a phenomenal anniversary lunch here! We got to seat on the terazza with gorgeous water view, soaking up the sun, just wonderful! Food was delicious and tasty, service was spot on! Highly recommend the Murray Cod, cooked in salt crust, Porcini, wild mushrooms, pumpkin, chestnuts for $74. Absolutely worth the price, it’s fatty, buttery, definitely a chef’s kiss! Caesar Salad also must try, so tasty and cheesy! Perfect way to end our lunch is with their soft and delicious gelato. Just perfecto!👌🏻
Great menu, perfect attention by staff giving table service and information about menu and wines. View over The Spit waterway very good. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Ordered the Chefs selection and were very happy with the menu. Parking a bit awkward but ok if you know your way around entry and exit points near the bridge.
Viewing it from a fine dine perspective the service wasnt as good as youd expect, the dishes werent cleared properly and there were still crumbs on my table, it took about 20-25 odd minutes for each dish to come which for me was too much, and the food was decent enough but didnt have a wow factor as youd expect when paying such a hefty price. We were given all our amuse at the same time, while they were good but as we enjoyed our first couple the last of them turned cold. The sourdough was phenomenal to say the least but then The salad for my prawns was quite salty, the risotto lacked flavour, for some reason there were whole pieces of grissini in my crumbed cotoletta(?), and while the lemon gelato dessert was pretty good looking at the balance of the taste I would have loved more of the amazing Italian meringueAll in all the food might be worth trying once but I wouldnt come again.
First time at Ormeggio but definitely will be coming back for more. Everything was delicious and aesthetically pleasing. All the staff were really friendly and looked after us well. Will definitely be going there again. Parking area can get busy so best to take a taxi or uber.
Nice waterfront views with delicious Italian seafood. The share plate nature of the food made it a great place to bring a group of 5.The focus is very much fresh seafood in an Italian style and they do it really well. Personally I really enjoyed the NSW Yellowfin tuna in bottoni pasta, but all the dishes were delicious. The portion sizes were small but not too bad especially if you order enough dishes (we had 3 "by the piece" and 4 "to share" dishes for our group of 5). Dessert portions were generous though! We had delizia al limone, hazelnut & seaweed, and barbajada gelato for dessert.A fancier, fine dining experience for sure but I think in this case it was worth it. Service was great as well, servers were attentive and accommodating and when a miscommunication occurred on one of the orders, we ended up getting a free dish on the house.Highly recommended!
Love the view and food. We ordered a set menu. We were lucky to have the weather clear up for us. We got moved to outside for dessert. The toilet is a bit of a funny one, because my friends and I have problems finding the door 🤣. The service that day was a bit rush, the table was not clear properly between dishes, there was still crumbs / pieces of food.
Totally fabulous - fantastic food, and lovely staff, who were especially warm with our 1 year old; they prepared a simple pasta dish for him, and were not at all upset or unpleasant when he succeeded in dropping a substantial amount on to the floor beneath the high chair - which they were pleased also to make available with a smile.
Not sure about how their seafood is but eating as vegetarians, food was pretty mediocre. Thought wed give it a try since my partner loves italian food.Service was pretty bad, very inattentive and ambience wasnt great. Extremely loud and hard to hear your loved one, lots of chatter and noise coming in all directions. We came here for a late valentines/anniversary with clear dietary requirements. None of those were accounted for and I had to explain everything again and the waitress then had to go and double check with the chef again. The food was hit and miss, My favourite was their brioche with mozzarella and their celeriac dish. Everything else I couldve lived without. Their beetroot dish was erring on the side of fishy. Im not sure if they accidentally served us a fish dish but it was very hard to eat but we didnt want to waste it due to our beliefs.A very poor dining experience, especially for the price you pay. If you are after a more romantic dining experience with more attentive and prepared service, skip this restaurant. Theres nicer Italian restaurants out there in Sydney.
Firstly, entrees came out 45 minutes after our booking time even though it was a set menu and we had no deviations to it. The toasted brioche was not even warm/hot when it finally came out.The waiter who took away the plates and cutlery after entrees and mains was not very hospitable and always seemed rushed. The clink of the cutlery and plates was quite loud and unnecessary. He also kept walking behind our table to get to the kitchen when there was a perfectly good walkway behind the first table (one table away).I would say the standard I was expecting for this price point was going to be similar to Catalina (happy to be correctedbut found it quite sub par. Napkins were not folded when guests left the table, tables were not wiped after each course (if needed).Barramundi was plated like an entree. Didn’t even get a plate each and they were all vastly different sizes. Dessert was not great. I can get gelato anywhere and the flavour was not unique.I have also never heard of a 7 day cancellation period with no menu being provided until within the cancellation period. The view is not great if you’re not by a windowDrinks were good thoughFood tasted fine but expected more for $159pp + Sunday surcharge.I sent this review as an email but haven’t received any response.Edit: photos not attaching to review but on page
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. Firstly, we managed to pick a glorious sunny day to take advantage of the location because it is quite stunning on the marina. Secondly, the menu is faultless as everything we ordered was excellent. Highlights include their signature tuna and their WA Marron which comes in 2 dishes - a pasta as well as a lettuce wrap. The service was impeccable and the whole experience left us planning a return visit.
Disappointing of the service!!! I suppose left 1 star, however, thanks for your sommelier, he is really nice person.Celebrate my wife’s birthday at this place because we had really wonderful experience before. However, it’s really shame on that day, it’s most disgusting experience we had ever. Please have look the receipt, we are 3 adult and 1 child, we should open another bottle if we didn’t face that terrible service. They just keep pushing all the dishes to the table all together, and even I told them to hold the main for us, we want to enjoy our night. They still put the main on the table within 1 hour. We left earlier than people who came earlier than us since the restaurant don’t want us stay apparently.Strongly not recommended for people who want to enjoy your night at this restaurant.
Ormeggio is best avoided. Here is an example of a fancy Sydney restaurant that has become wound up in their own self-importance and forgotten why people come to restaurants. We were seated next to a loud table, the low ceiling and lack of acoustic treatment was an ever present annoyance. Some of the food was excellent. Some of the food was very poor. The tuna steak schnitzel was amazing and the stand out.Overall - the service, the food, the lack of atmosphere - for the money spent - its just not worth it. Shame really. And no-one likes QR Code menus.
We came here for a celebratory lunch for my brothers graduation and did the degustation menu and it’s a seafood lovers delight. Presentation and service wise, it was top notch. The food can at times be a bit rich and overpowering, which overtakes the seafood’s natural flavours at times. But otherwise we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch and would recommend it for a special occasion.
Some of the most delicious food out there by the water. The service by Maria was so attentive and thoughtful, the drinks (I had Caught Red Handedwere really tasty, and the food.. well, just check out the photos!I had a wonderful time with family. The highlight for me was the scrumptious hand-picked spanner crab squid ink pasta!
Such a great experience! We left with full full bellies. The signature crab risotto was to die for. I would also highly recommend the dry-aged swordfish if they have it available. So meaty and delicious. I don’t think I’ve seen it anywhere but here.
Such a wonderful restaurant by the water. The sunset view from here is absolutely amazing. We had such great time enjoying the delicious food and lovely service. The staff was very helpful and recommended couple of nice bottle of wines to pair with our menu. The most memorable dish was the truffle ice cream with truffle oil. O.M.G. you wont regret it.
Really fantastic Sunday lunch. We all got the chefs degustation menu which was quite seafood heavy - lovely and fresh! I particularly liked the starters! They were also able to accommodate dietary requirements in the group. Definitely recommend for food and views. Although parking was an absolute nightmare so Id suggest catching a cab.
This place blew me away. Definitely one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve visited in Sydney so far! The price is a little on the steeper side, but I think its worth the money as their menu focuses on quality produce and fresh seafood! It depends on what dishes you order, but they were only marginally more than Otto, but my experience here was personally a lot better in terms of both the quality of food and service! Mr partner has a tree nut allergy, and rather that dismissing a lot of dishes for him (which a lot of places do), they used their own initiative to alter the dishes appropriately, such as substituting a pistachio topping with olives on the tuna Crudo, which was an appreciated gesture! :)I loved all the dishes but in particular favourites were the:1. Queensland Spanner Crab handpicked, Polenta taco – lemon mayonnaise - I wanted to eat 10 of these haha. Make sure you order yourself one of these. The lemon mayo was perfectly balanced in tartness and creaminess!2. Queensland Mud crab in two ways: - Steamed on tomato carnaroli risotto - Charcoal claws – pummarola, baby cos lettuceWow I am so glad we ended up ordering this. The tomato crab risotto was one of the best risottos I’ve ever had. It was rich but also well balanced with the sweetness of the tomatoes. I also appreciated how the claws were cooked a different way to let the natural flavour of the crab really shine.3. Monte bianco (Fior di latte gelato – black truffle – chestnut chips- hard to explain the flavour combination, but I 100% recommend ordering this. It’s definitely on the edge of a savoury dessert and kind of trips your brain out. The Fior di latte gelato was so creamy and smooth. I loved the addition of those crispy chestnut chips that paired so well with the Fior de latte. I have never tried anything else quite similar! We came for a dinner service, but hoping to come back next time on a sunny day for lunch with their beautiful views :)
Beautiful location at the waterfront overlooking the yachts, beautiful Italian food and wines. Ill like to especially notice our sommelier Alfredo who was very knowledgeable about all of the wines and provided good recommendations as well as plenty of information.Flawless service and a very relaxed atmosphere. We opted for the chef selections and that was the best choice one can make if you want to try various things.
Beautiful location right by the water with a light and airy summer vibe. We had a few courses and even more cocktails but overall a lovely place to have dinner. Have included pictures of the courses that left us wanting more (fresh and amazing), so definitely pick these courses The other courses were okay... or maybe it was because these dishes set the bar too high for the dishes that came after (pasta and another 2 different fish courses). Would come back again to try next seasons menu
What an incredible location right on the water! The restaurant is airy, luxurious but still comfortable. The house cocktails were incredible and the service was prompt and attentive without being intrusive. We got the 7 course chefs picks and everything was divine. The first 4 courses came out pretty quickly but we had plenty of time to eat without feeling rushed. Overall, it was a stunning venue for a special occasion, would definitely recommend for seafood lovers!
Their food is innovative, well rounded, worth the price, however, their service seems quite unprofessional and below the standard. Most of their staff didnt speak proper English and were unable to explain the dishes when I asked. They were keep repeating "Humm,.. like... you know..." etc without clear information of the food. They even brought a wrong dish to me, which was asparagus dish that was not on the menu. I told them I didnt order the dish, but the female staff told me that I ordered asparagus dish. I asked her where the asparagus dish is written on the menu and she suddenly apologised and told us that its going to be on the house, which was charged in the final bill. However, including the asparagus dish, every dish was very nice and I appreciate their kitchen staffs efforts and creativity. I will definitely go back for the food.
WOW! Truly proper, amazing Sydney waterfront dinning!! Right on the water with amazing views. Quite possibly the best Italian Seafood this side of the harbour and quite easily the other side too. The food is absolutely exquisite, I cannot express this in way the would give it the justice it deserves. Oh ...if you happen to like truffles with seafood and some very special, specifically imported Italian wine then this is definitely a happy place for it. The staff and service made us feel so special, such a good vibe, it seems they love what they do and we felt that. In fact we felt thoroughly pampered. Love this amazing place 💙
