Interesting place for the tech and history buff
One of the best experiences of my life.
Small but packed with interest. Unlike most Scottish attractions, they let us in with our dog.
MoreFantastic small museum with enthusiastic guides
Im not that into museums (or wirelessesbut this place is fantastic. Knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers showed us some great stuff, tailoring info to the interests/questions of my three kids (aged 7, 9 and 11). We got to try out old games, Morse code and some other historic machines. Excellent.
MoreSmall, but interesting technical stuff in there.
Lovely little museum, chock full of information about wireless, wartime wireless links and information about Scapa flow. Volunteers who run the museum are lovely and friendly. I learnt a lot from speaking to Mr Jolly and could have spent all day learning about the Orcadian way of life. Some of the displays brought back memories of my great grandmother and her wireless. If you are into ham radio, don’t forget to pick up your QSL card/ calling card and drop yours off too. Worth the £3 entry fee.
MoreSo interesting.
Really interesting
Small compact museum with lots to interest radio enthusiast or war historian
Amazing wee place, with loads of history for everybody.
Brilliant if you like this sort of thing. It is what it says on the tin ;lots of old radios with a few other pieces like an old computer game thrown in for good measure. Theres also quite a lot about the wars and communication equipment of the time. You can even touch the (oh so smooth!knobs! Allow 30-60 minutes depending upon your level of interest.
MoreFantastic place
Gutted it was closed. I should have checked their web site and not relied on Google.
MoreThis is a fantastic little museum devoted to the early days of radio, television and gramophone and the part played by Orkney in World War 2. It is filled with astonishing exhibits and information. The staff are very friendly and approachable. The fee is a mere £3 or £1 for students, what a bargain.
