light-filled coffee shop with assorted pastries, modern rustic interiors, & outdoor seating.
I had a very bad experience this morning at Origin. Being a regular due to working in the area, I very often get batch brew coffee some mornings and coffee beans twice a month for V60 at home. Today, I bought a bag of Mano Del Puma and ask for the staff to grate it for me. After it was poured in the grinder not all of the beans went thorough. Maybe 35 to 45 grams got stuck . I was literary in front of this. The member of staff operating the grinder notified their colleague who looked at it , and did nothing. I was then given my coffee bag with minus whatever was left in the grinder ,and I saw the same person who was told about the remaining coffee, to grind it and put it aside in order to grind the next dose of beans. I then explained that I was unsatisfied and I was told that they were sorry. Nothing else. I then insisted saying that I have been charged for that waste. The reply was sorry again. I then made it clear how wrong that is and then, after all this drama I was told that I would be offered a freebie, at which stage didnt interest me and I just left. It is a shame because I like the place and the product and most of the staff , but todays people working there had no clue of how to treat and respect clients. Very disappointed.
Friendly, great staff and good coffee to go along with it, if your nearby would recommend giving it a try!Only real complaint would be the café got quite noisy, but thats not really controllable with so many customers coming in and out throughout a given period.
I had an hour before my train left, so I went to this cafe.I ordered a latte and cookie but the lady asked me back, "You mean the biscuit? I realized I was in England😂The latte and cookie were both very good. I would like to go back here again.
Amazing strong black coffee and a very nice atmosphere inside.
Tasty coffee.Very small cup for the price you pay.
Best almond croissant Ive ever had! Very friendly staff, delicious coffee😋Cute little stop in cafe, small but if you want good coffee come here ☺️💜
Good latte, buy coffee beans can get one free coffee.Staffs are friendly, explain details of various coffee beans, they recommend coffee beans depending on personal preference and needs.
Best oat milk decaf cappuccino Ive ever had.
Fantastic coffee shop. Always great service from the staff and Origin coffee is excellent. Theres also a great selection of pastries.
I really enjoyed the coffee! The cortados are delicious (and surprisingly they have really good chai latte too, more spice and less sugar). The baristas are very nice and have been very helpful in suggesting which coffee beans to buy for different brewing methods.
Excellent coffee and kind, friendly staff.Highly recommendable.
Best coffee in town. Definitely coming back
OMG! Lovely and tasty 😋
Wonderful shop and really interesting pour overs. We got a beautiful geisha and a Chinese bean! They do pour over and batch brew on top of all the other things like flat whites, Capps, chai, tea, etc. I definitely will come back!
Coffee here is surprisingly really good! Super friendly and welcoming guy behind the counter. All water cans are recyclable and have a resealable tab so you can fill up at one of the water fountains for free.
Excellent coffee and a deliciousAlmond croissant. Very friendly service with my coffee brought out to a table outside. Impressed.
Nice place with fast WiFi, but I must have had bad luck because their espresso just wasnt there - all spour, no kick
The barista was extra nice and made us a swan cappuccino, as we didn’t realize what a macchiato was. Blissful coffee.
Absolutely the superior option for coffee at the British Library. By comparison their service is always with a smile and the guys who work here are experts in making simply brilliant coffee and always enjoy a bit of banter with me.Yesterday I went to the British Library cafe and bought a coffee - the service was sullen and impersonal, so I will always come back here because it is, as I said, by far the superior option!
If you need a good coffee definitely go there while in London, try flat white!
A loverly semi-hidden coffee just outside the British Library. Loved the space, super friendly staff and of course great coffee. Highly recommended ✌🏼☕️
One of the best oat flat whites in london. Knowledgeable and friendly staff
Obviously great coffee, but even better is that the baristas are super knowledgeable. Peter talked me through the different fermentation techniques used in the coffee beans they had for sale, where I can go to get my home grinder fixed and more. Great experience.
I stopped by the side of the road before going into the British Library after a stressful journey, and this coffee shop seemed like it appeared from heaven next to me! Sorry to the barista for my deafness, thanks for repeating a lot for me, and the great coffee!
Convenient location near Kings Cross Station, so if youre waiting for someone or for a train, this is a lovely place to do it. The coffee tastes great and their espresso is strong – although pastries are pretty dry.
The coffee is pretty good and the baristas are always friendly and polite, the cups are super cute! I only really have a problem with the pastries. I tried different ones 2-3 times now and they always seem a little stale and for that theyre pricey. So get the coffee, skip the pastries!
Coffee is very nice normally, but a little hit and miss. Disappointed today with the espresso. Pastries a little on the pricey side, too. Normally worth it for the coffee (£2.85 for an espresso).
The latte was ok,tad bitter but still enjoyable. Lovely friendly staff!
Delicious pour over, and oat flat whites. Diverse and unique coffee selection. Lovely barista working alone , but pouring consistently delicious coffees. Great speciality experience.
The barista working today as I post this is a champ! She was on her own, but aside from that was pouring swans and tulips galore on everyone’s coffees including our 2 oaty bois.Lovely selection of exceptional Chinese coffees as it’s Chinese New Year. Super! We requested the pour over, it was absolutely incredible!Thank you for a beautiful speciality experience
Delicious coffee...looking at the busy traffic...lovely music...Great service....small with big ambient...
Very good coffee, definitely the best weve had in our short stay in London.I would also highly recommend the brownie, so fudgey and chocolatey, a very generous portion too!
Great wee place, really good poor over brewed with Kalita, nicely served.Definitely worth extra few steps from King Cross and surrounding chain coffee shops.
Delicious chai latte, doughnut and cinnamon bun! Yum! Cool artwork on the cup too!
Very good coffee. Great service.
Their coffee is really good! Quite different from the usual cappuccino youll have from coffee chains in the UK. Only problem is theres not a lot of space to enjoy your coffee in the shop but there are tables outside though.
Best coffee I had during my VERY short 3-day stay in London. They have Oatly and another plant-based milk alternative I believe. Regardless, I think I only had their long black in both of my visits- Yes I visited twice in 3 days. Their espresso has a unique flavor and taste (Id say juicy, red wine). Would recommend.
Great little coffee store, smaller than the Southwark cafe. Knowledgeable staff and a selection of coffee beans on offer (which come with a free coffee). It would be nice if the coffee prices were a bit more simplified - there’s a chart but it can be hard to find coffees/stock and pair with prices. Some of the higher end beans can be quite expensive. Still, I’ve been picking up some decent beans here.
Small spot with good coffee and a few spots to work on WiFi. Nice if you have time to kill at St. Pancreas.
Origin is a great coffee NO DOUBT at convenient location. However, sometimes it is not enough! Human factor, how you serve is as important as what you serve.Advise: Do not attempt to ask for pour over coffee. She does not want to deal with it: “it will take 10-15 min or longer” to discourage you. This is not the first time she tries show her disappointment to serve you.Her colleague, he literally reminds another client 3-6 minutes for pour over! Lucky him. There are other attitude issues that kills the whole ambience of Origin Coffee here! She is not happy with few other unhappy baristas.. if they can not make their own decisions, it is worth to consider that you need to help them to make a step towards customers or to leave the role right away.
Small coffee and over priced compared to other cafes. Sausage roll is £4.5 and is tiny. Brownies £3.50 and small. They need to really look at their pricing
A small but chic coffee shop outside the British Library. They serve nice coffees & pastries. They have a few breakfast items on the menu of which the avocado on toast was good & yummy. It was not cheap but worth the money. Worth to spend some time here to chill out.
Skilled baristas and friendly serving. Reasonable price is also one of the reasons why u visit this place for.
My flat white was superb. Will most definitely nip back in the next time Im in London! ☕
What a nice little gem that is easy to miss .This cafe went up into my top 5 coffees in London ,The atmosphere is perfect , the music is nice and you can see the barista enjoys what he do.
By far the best coffee around! The seating area in doors is small but they do have outside sheltered space which is used well. The staff are very competent and know their stuff. I was advised on how to make the best coffee at home using my kit which was not driven by price of beans but rather how I make and drink my coffee at home.
A bit slow service even the place was empty, single espresso costs 2.2£ what a bit too expensiveWonderful aroma of marzipan but weak body and low caffeine contest, not for the morning shot at all
What a shambles! Poor service and lack of care from disinterested staff who got order after order wrong.Called in for a coffee and snack while waiting for a train but wish wed gone elsewhere. Having ordered a batch filter it was luke warm when served with a cold cup to then poor it into to drink, so no time to enjoy it then. I was then told that the avocado on toast Id ordered was unavailable as they were out of bread (at 1230 on a Saturday afternoon I might addand werent willing to serve it on a couple end cuts so I would have to reorder. The toasted banana bread came quickly and was lovely but the toast and marmalade Id ordered took some time having been advised that it would take a little longer. When it arrived along with the comment of "turns out it didnt need any longer afterall" I was presented with a plate of several black and burnt end cuts. Far from acceptable to serve food in such a state but clearly the staff didnt care enough to apologise let alone have the decency to not serve it.At this point my friend then had to go and remind the staff that he was still waiting for his toasted sandwhich which it turned out shed not even put on the order in the first place. Similalry in the half an hour we were there two other customers also had to remind the staff that they hadnt received the food theyd ordered after a lengthy wait assuming it was in hand when it had clearly been forgotten. How can such a small spot that was by no means busy get it so wrong, again and again? The staff spent more time either out the back or talking to their own friends at the end of the counter than tending to customers and getting the simplest of tasks right. This is not the Origin Coffee I know, but Ill be certain to question returning again in the future when theres so many other decent spots to pick from.
Small and cosy coffee shop just outside St Pancras and the British Library. There’s one long bar to sit at, and some chairs outside. Coffee is made quickly and is of a higher quality than the Starbucks and Pret nearby. WiFi here too.
This second branch of Origin just next to the main road but not really known by many. It offers their own beans, very tasteful and fresh. Friendly and calm staff and warm interior form a relaxing atmosphere. The location provides an interesting perspective to see the world passing by right in front of you. The only thing is this tiny place could get a bit crowded when people come in at the same time.
