Oriental Gourmet in Alice Springs

It was the first time I was at the restaurant with my friends. The food was amazing. Hoping to go back soon.

We found the staff were great and the woman at reception with the colourful hair as wonderful and very welcoming. Everyone is short staffed here so a little patience is good. The food was great and we wanted to go again but they only had takeaway tonight, guessing staff shortages.

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Alice Springs

I’m sorry but I paid almost $45 dollars for one serve of fried rice and a main dish, that’s absolutely ridiculous takeaway prices, I recommend going someplace cheaper if possible.

First timers and we enjoy good Chinese and if you do too. You wont be disappointed. The Cantonese beef so tender. Fried rice yep brilliant. Restaurant was busy, takeaway flying out the door. Cold beer. Pricing is reasonable for Alice Springs. Two entrees, friedd rice. Main dish, 4 stubbies our bill was $84

Slow, overpriced, didnt answer the phone after 13 attemps at 5:30. Had to go in person, was told 30min wait. Waited an hour. Average food

Truth be told the food is decent and the elderly lady who has a heart of gold is absolutely fabulous. Booked myself and my 4young children in to have dinner. Food was served the moment we sat down. The team had everything ready. Thank you for the brief chat and small chocolate. This mother needed it.Now, the service a couple of months ago was shocking.. not sure who I spoke too, but the lad with an accent was excruciatingly rude at the time. I didn’t leave the place a 1 star review for a reason. I have been coming here on and off for years. The one rude experience against 99 lovely experience don’t deserve a 1 star. Keep the good one’s running and serving the place.

Rudest service tonight from the counter woman with purple hair! Just plain rude!I requested a phone call for pick up... as Im very close by. Apparently that was an issue with her.Then when she did call and I came within 5 minutes to collect. I said my name..... she made a joke about "oh the one that wants to be called"...... the restaurant was empty.... but she made out she was so busy.... and what a hard thing it was to pick up the phone and call!What a horrid person to have on front counter!Lovely food.... just dont want to encounter her again!

Yeah good feed here. Blonde fella got a chip on his shoulder and can get busy at times but food is always great.

Will not ever come back here anymore. Very not friendly services at the counter. Pricey Food that got not taste at all. Waste time, energy and money. Very disappointed. Will not even give 1 star at all.

The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. The customer service was fantastic. As I have a large family I felt from other diners that we were in the wrong place.. people kept staring at us. But that isnt the restaurants fault. Food was good, excpet for the Honey Chicken. It was more like Honey batter. I opened one of the pieces and there was a very tiny bit of chicken and heaps of batter. Very disappointed. But overall a good experience not sure if I will return with children again.

Used to be the best in town. Now they couldnt care less and amazingly slow....the food must actually come from China.

Tasty reliable "old fashioned" Chinese food. I like that I can come here and know what Im going to get and that Im going to enjoy it. The food reminds me of the Chinese food we ate growing up in the country towns of NSW. Not fancy modern or homestyle Asian but delicious Chinese for western palates (thats what I mean by old fashioned lol). Definitely some where I come when I have that hankering for yummy Chinese food...not cheap but delicious and substantial servings

Incredibly delicious Chinese food in the middle of the Outback. We ordered several dishes and shared them buffet style, and everything was excellent.

A long time local business, with absolutely delicious food. Definitely a must try. You wont be disappointed.

One of the most tasty Chinese meals Ive had in years. Great staff and service. The food was fresh and piping hot. The only criticism is it was bit on the pricey side but I would definitely recommend it.

The restaurant was cozy and quite with good service and quality food. There was a large delay for food but we were informed and assured it was unusual.

VERY impressed with level of service and the food was of high quality, had a lovely family night out, will definitely be back.

Really disapointed in this place. Food was bland and over priced for what you recieve. Wont ever go back personally.

This place used to be excellent. On this occassion, all meats were not fresh and has a little off flavour, sweet and sour pork was definately reheated and not prepared today. Beef tasted rather off putting. The hot and sour soup was delicious but the prawns in it were disgusting. We might give another try but if it happens again we will definately not be back.

Certainly the best Chinese restaurant in Alice Springs. Has great take away menu but our preference is to dine in. Small dining areas means less noise and chatter with the wait staff being just lovely and attentive. You are left alone and dont get hasseled to finish up. Just a very pleasant evening in a old heritage listed original Alice Springs house.

Not the taste or quality to which I am accustomed. Three different dishes, none of which were worth finishing. Even adjusting for living in Alice Springs, this really is not worthy of a repeat visit.

Staff are kind and efficient, food usually takes 15 minutes or more but it does come in large servings usually one serving is good for 2 or 3 people. You can order over the phone but have to collrct yourself

Pricey but good portion sizes. Dont keep the rice as it gave me the runs the next day when I ate it. There are signs up in the restaurant warning about this and claiming no responsibility, and for good reason it seems.

The food is not bad here, but the prices are very high! We only ever buy takeaway and do find that the food is always ready when they say it will be. Because there is little choice in Restaurant here in Alice Springs, Gourmet Oriental seem to have the monopoly and therefore CAN charge these prices! I wish someone would open another Chinese Restaurant and give these guys some competition ;)

We ordered the filleted roast duck and the beef and cashews take away, both smelted very bad, the beef smelled like a dirty cow. The fried rice was very good. 2 stars for the fried rice, would have been 1 star other wise
