Above average dishes, but inconsistent taste. Second visit within a week for dim sum. The dumplings had overly raw flour taste as well as thicker skin. The fried rolls had the stale oil taste.

Tonight I had one of my worst experience with Chinese food so far and as an Asian, I’ve tried quite a few Chinese restaurants around the world. This one is way overrated!!The best thing about it is the location, right at the entrance of China town. The second best thing is that they serve your dishes pretty fast despite the crowd. We ordered 4 dishes and the only one acceptable was dimsum. Btw for dinner they didn’t have all the choices for dimsum and the “night menu” ones are more expensive than regular ones. I don’t know their difference though as I ordered dimsum assortiment (8 piecesfrom Hot appetisers instead. Our 3 other dishes were total failures: Spare ribs with sambal sauce were too dry; Baked salted chicken was half-cooked and Fried rice with seafood and meat DID NOT HAVE ANY TASTE, like they didn’t even season it with salt.Overall I was very disappointed, in total we paid £62.5 for two people which was not worth at all. I really didn’t understand why people queue to eat here!

Attention: You need to pay more to eat dimsum at night so we juste ate other dishes.Steamed chicken is one of the easiest dish to make yet they failed to even cook it properly.Fried rice with meat was tasteless and the meat was too fatty. Not worth the time waiting for a table and to place an order!

We just had dinner in the restaurant and had a starter and a main course, portions were small to medium. My vegetarian main course tasted like NOTHING and that has never happened to me in an Asian restaurant. When I asked for a sauce, I got an irritated look and was brought soy sauce. In total we paid 70 pounds, in my opinion also MUCH too expensive, for the quality. All in all, tourist trap, looks authentic, tastes zero authentic.

Just went there today. The staff was super unclear regarding the menu options. Even though their “pre-set menus” were way more complex to understand than they should be, we ordered 2 Menu A’s for three people, and another dish on the side. The food itself was just okay, nothing too special despite what other reviews suggested. The biggest surprise came at the end of the meal were we where basically invited to leave as soon as we stopped eating, bringing us the bill without being asked to, and while drinks were still at the table. The bill presented was also wrong and they made me pay for 3 menus because “we were three people”, even though I specifically ordered two menus.Lastly, the staff was the rudest I’ve seen in London so far, and trust me, that’s saying quite a bit.Don’t go there.

After giving the below review, Ive discovered that this restaurant has a hygiene rating of 1 star and in need of major improvements. They do not display this anywhere in their window (I guess for a reason). So just FYI especially since COVID, as a lot of people are weary of eating out.So we visited on a Saturday and it was our first time coming here. Saw the good reviews so thought wed check it out.Cleanliness and atmosphere in front of house was good, its very different to your typical traditional Chinese restaurant. I would say its more modern and with a more western feel, and everything down to the cutlery and food is very well presented. The food itself were reasonable prices but compared to your traditional Chinese restaurant youre probably getting less for your moneys worth. When to comes to the taste I would say its very average. To be honest I didnt like many of the dishes (which are dishes we always order at other restaurants). The Char Siu pork pastry arrived piping hot and the pastry was chewy and not flaky, it had obviously been put in the microwave and for too long. The Thai style chicken feet was very sour, and you get approximately 5 pieces in a dish. My favourite dish which is the Chinese doughnut in cheung fun was soft and soggy even before putting the soy sauce on, you also only get 1 row, compared to your usual 3 in standard restaurants. The Vietnamese spring roll which looked crispy were not, instead they were chewy and for some reason they seem to over season this with A LOT of black pepper to the point where that was all we could taste. The only decent dish was really the fried calamari. All in all I personally would never come back here for dim sum, there are much better choices in China town for this. Not sure what their dinner service is like as weve not tried so cant comment on that, but dim sum is definitely a no from me. Might I add that we both were also not feeling well after eating here.In a nutshell, looks good, taste bad.

Food was good, but thats it. kept waiting outside despite having booked with no conversation from staff about the length of wait. Service was poor; we asked to take-away leftovers and were just given some empty plastic tubs rather than the food being taken away and packaged for us. Despite the note on the booking they did absolutely nothing for my wifes birthday. Not special and wouldnt go again.

We made an effort to get there, with reservations made weeks ago while still in the states. It was just ok, nothing too memorable. The only item worth mentioning is the special turnip cake with XO.

We came for Sunday lunch at 12:30pm and we didnt have to wait to get a table. We shared the har gau, scallop dumplings, shanghai pork dumplings (not soupy), prawn bean curd cheung fun (was disappointed with thisand the beef ho fun (favourite). Food was overall decent for a dumpling fix but it wasnt amazing. Like many places in Chinatown, the service isnt overly friendly but they are quick and efficient.

food 7/10 - mostly very good but a bit prepared earlier so not as fresh as could be if cucumbers cut fresh rather than in the morningservice 11/10 - such incredible staff - just so attentive but so invisible, at one time my i must have looked at my napkin, before i knew it it was gone, a new one slid on the table and a wet wipe being held for me, with constant refilling of the tea - worth it just for the service - i felt so special - thanks

Found this Restaurant through Google search sore head 4.1 Star rating in reviews . So book for my wife’s birthday arrived at the restaurant and was directed to the seating found that the seats were low. Place my order for wonton soup was later told there was none didn’t think it takes a lot to make soup. However ordered egg fried rice and after seeing the small bowl portion decided to change. Ordered a platter of roast pork with crispy roast pork upon arriving The crispy roast pork looked like it was boiled the ends were not crispy and salted the roast pork seem very dry and not red marinated did take a picture and we did not enjoy half was left we brought it back in a food container for local foxes. We did not enjoy or experience.

Really the best restaurant in Chinatown. The food is amazing. The speed is fast the staff are friendly. It’s really buzzing with customers too. We had the cashew nut prawn and the vegetable fried rice and both came in generous proportions and it was enough for my husband and I to share. It’s the most delicious Chinese food in Chinatown I completely recommend it

Came to this place after we got bored of our usual Chinatown restaurant. We didn’t have a booking so we had to wait but it was only for around 10 minutes. Lovely interior. The menu was extensive, definitely something for everyone. We ordered many things as my family eats a lot - the soups were good, especially the Duck Noodle Soup, however they were just a tad bland for us, as if something was missing. Their duck is really juicy, you can tell it’s a good quality cut. The sizzling chicken really came sizzling! The flavour was a bit different but once your palette adjust its very good. The STAR of the show was definitely the Pei Pa Tofu: salty, silky texture, crispy on the outside, it was perfect. Would recommend that 100000%. Overall a good place to try.

Had dinner here on our last night in London. While not inexpensive, the ambience was nice, service was good, and the food was quite tasty. The only issue is I ordered the stir fried prawns with mango and instead got 6 breaded prawns with a sauce (still good though). Would definitely come here again on a future visit.

Well this restaurant certainly lived up to its reviews 😊 there was a warm welcome on arrival and showed to a fabulous table upstairs. There were 4 of us and had an absolute feast. The crispy aromatic duck with pancakes was exceptional to start. The food that followed was of an equal quality . Overall a very enjoyable evening, if your in China town and looking for a top class Chinese meal! Head for the Orient London. You will definitely not be disappointed.

The food was excellent!! The servers were all very helpful. We have severe nut and peanut allergies which usually prevents us from eating Chinese food. But the servers were very accommodating and aware of the significance of allergies, and they adjusted accordingly. All in all I highly recommend.

Excellent dum sum. Quick to be seated, though does fill up rapidly from 12.00 onwards. Staff are very friendly and attentive, dim sum menu is standard with some nice specials. Restaurant is really clean and tidy with great decor. Note that my photos are as we are eating hence some missing dumplings! As soon as the plates started arriving at the table we started eating!

The food was divine! The service was speedy and the staff were helpful and attentive. The prices are ok it’s not unreasonable but it is pricer than some competitors, however you do get a lot delicious food as portion sizes are great! After visiting I discovered that as recently as October 2021 the food hygiene rating is 1 with major improvements needed for the management of food safety ect. Due to the 1 star rating and the prices of items on the menu I believe it’s necessary to remove one star as it is disappointing the food hygiene rating is not on display and therefore I would not visit again until this has been reviewed/renewed with an improved score.

Came here for dim sum but felt like the quality has dropped since my last visit back in 2020. Nevertheless, still considered one of the better places in Chinatown in terms of the food. The sesame sauce that came with the plain "cheung fun" (steamed rice rollwas bitter and did not taste like sesame sauce. The deep fried prawn dumplings had too high of a pastry to filling ratio. The type of pastry they use now is also a little too hard. The roast pork puffs (triangular-shapedtasted like they were microwaved; the inside was very hot and outside was soft. The pastry is usually flaky/crispy. Also ordered the salted fish & sliced pork steamed rice pot, which was standard. Dim sum is served until 16.45 daily but would advise to go early as certain items do run out before this time. The service is top quality, very attentive and they look after you well. The atmosphere at this Chinese restaurant is a little different to the ones on the main street (Gerrard Streetthough, its missing that traditional dim sum place feeling.

I’ve been here a few times for dinner and it’s a decent place just off the hustle and bustle of China Town. We came again tonight and the service was very good, friendly, and the food came out in good time. We had the chilli squid to start, which was good, but I would say the batter could do with being a little lighter. Soft squid though so that was good. The duck pancakes were fab as always, as was the Car Sui pork!!! So damn good! We also had sweet and sour Cantonese style for a change, which I enjoyed, but again the batter could have been lighter. All round decent Chinese food here

Good food and atmosphere for the money. Enjoyed the various dim sum dishes and Singapore style fried vermicelli noodle dish (spicy!). 4 dim sum dishes, 1 noodle dish and tea was £33.88. A filling amount for two people. Look forward to coming back and trying the roast meats and other dishes.

The best dim sum I’ve ever had!! If you’re looking for amazing, great quality well-priced dim sum in Chinatown then the Orient is definitely top of the list! I came here with two friends and ordered at least 11 dishes between us and only spent c.£25 each - amazingly cheap for the quality & quantity of dim sum we had! Highly recommend the steamed egg coconut bun which is super creamy and light & the soup dumplings have a great soup:filling ratio too. If not made well, soup dumplings can leave an oily/heavy taste in your mouth after a few which is why vinegar is a must to cut the grease but did not experience this at all at the Orient - the dim sum chef is clearly very experienced! Egg tarts are fresh and super flaky with a creamy centre, not a single dish was a ‘miss’. 100% recommend to come here 😊

Yup, you wont be disappointed coming here. Great food and service, and a big plus is that they take reservations as late as 10:30pm (its weirdly really hard to find a post show restaurant in London). If you walk fast you can even make it here after The Lion King down at the Lyceum theatre

My favourite chinese restaurant in London - previously called “jade garden”. Dim sum menu is extensive. Only 8 (fried/steamdishes are vegan - so it can feel rather tedious. But there are plenty of other plant based dishes if you like spicy food or want to order something with rice or noodles. The service is super fast- the servers are helpful. The bathroom is very narrow and busy to get to and from. It is children friendly. Quietest time without queue is 12-12.40pm and after 3.30pm-5pm for dim sum menu.Menus are displayed in both chinese and EnglishI would recommend this restaurant to everyone. The food is authentic and well cooked. The best dim sum location in China town. Not wheelchair friendly (definitely not - bathroom wise)

One of the best dim sum restaurants in China town at very reasonable prices. The fried turnip cake with XO chilli sauce is very worth trying.
