Early September 2022, I celebrated in Sushi Oribe a birthday and I was pleased with the quality of the food and service. Staff is well trained and explain in details each dish and offer interesting options of sake. Food is fresh and very well presented.

Went to Oribe to celebrate my daughter’s birthday. Amazing omakase as always. The Hokkaido oysters were really good and fresh. And another star was the anago.. sweet and flavorful. Last but not least was the unagi soup. Brilliant selection Chef! 👍👍👍👍👍

Celebrated my birthday at Oribe with my bf and we enjoyed the whole experience thoroughly. Service was great and food was incredible but Chef Masa totally elevated our Omakase experience to a new level. He took his time and effort to explain each courses in detailed and with much passion and love. 10/10 would recommend!

Impressed? No. Worth the money? No. The only good thing to shout out is their service which I guess all Japanese Fine Dining restaurants will do the same. I dont know if just the day I went the quality wasnt as good/fresh as reviews . Even the grape that they served in dessert was sour? Seriously? I have tried other omakase but Sushi Oribe definitely not the one that worth the penny.PS i took the RM500++ omakase set and it still doesnt do it justice :)

Special omakase (requested for traditional style omakase), not the usual fusion type. Gotta say the food is super tasty and as always, chef is super skilled and staffs are friendly 👍

Very difficult to book counter seats but the well trained staff didnt compromise our overall fining experience. Price is reasonable considering their location and fully imported ingredients. Will definitely come back again for the counter seat

Kudos to Chef Hiro for the amazing omakase experience! We’re lucky to get the counter seat plus the seafood just arrived the morning we had our meal, ensuring we have the freshest sushi! Choosing Sushi Oribe is definitely a no-brainer for omakase!

Feel sorry to write this but the Omakase (RM380/paxis way overrated. Ingredients were not fresh and noticeably lack of effort. The dining experience was very unpleasant for the 4 of us.

Fair price with the given omakase menu. Ingredients are fresh but not as tasty that I expected. Waiter the guy is awesome with very knowledgeable information sharing, fun introduction and very friendly serving. Place is spacious and little bit of cozy. Parking available and easy. Will definately visit again.

Tried the sushi oribe omakase, food is great but not fantastic.I was hoping for surprises but the starter was abit boring, savory part is averagely good but lack of depth and richness. The flow of the food is lacking.Generally, renovation is minimum, nothing fancy. Table seatings are rather remote from the counter, limiting chef-customers interaction, poorly trained staffs are minimally responsive. Hopefully oribe will look into it seriously 😊

We did not get counter seats as it was difficult to book for >2 pax (even a month ahead).Food was great and worth it as compared to other Omakase joints. Even though we were dined on private table instead of counter, the experience was still great.Must reserve to dine here as we did see patrons coming in and not able to dine since they didnt make reservations.10/10 and wi definitely visit again

Went there for dinner with my family for my fathers birthday, we went with the 4 pax Oribe dinner omakase set.Food quality: the appetisers (shredded pear coated with white sesame sauce, sashimi platter, and tofu with black sesame saucewere okay, not mind blowing or extra special. However, I have to emphasise the rest are top notch and of the freshest quality. The sushi are nicely made with great flavour profile and the stew fish is exceptional (the best meal of the night ). They also specially made a plate of dessert for birthday guest, so thats a very nice gesture for my dad. I will give the food experience 3 stars.Ambience: just average, it doenst look or feel fancy, it looks like a normal Japanese restaurant with basic setting nestled in a corner of a service apartment. Overall not much of an effort, so no star. (also traffic to that restaurant took 1 hour from suria KLCC entrance, we were stuck in a gridlock in rain in car for 1 hour despite being a Wednesday and we left home earlier than usual, not the restaurant fault, but do expect to brace for heavy traffic)Service: very very normal, not up to par for the restaurant setting. Some staff members have communication issue that dont understand plain English. We were asking (a suspectedly new staffwhat drink is complementary for the omakase set, and to our surprise, we were told that all drinks were on the house except for green tea. We were extremely confused and luckily we didnt go ahead with ordering all the sake and expensive wine. Upon checking with a more senior staff, it was indeed otherwise, the tea is free not the rest. On top of that, we cant secure a counter seat as it was supposedly fully booked (despite the counter was empty with 2 customers that night from 8 onwards), so food was served to our table in a corner semi private room, for the first few dishes, no one cared to explain to us what we were eating and only after we requested for some basic ingredient introduction, just then a senior staff came over to explain whats served. So with such experience its hard to say that the service was good. Hence, no star.Lastly, if I am going for an omakase experience again, I will only opt for the counter experience, if its sitting at a far corner, it really doesnt give us the whole complete experience. Again, not the restaurant fault, just something I should have researched better. As Omakase means I leave it up to you and since I have given the chef to choose the food they are serving, I would expect that they take the effort to explain and present whats served. Not just served us a plate and expect us knowing what it is. Also it would really help if the reservation system can open up counter seating reservation not just a reservation for dine in.Overall, the food quality is good and deserving the praise. That aside, I am really not impressed. Personally, when customer pays for a meal of RM500++ per head, we would expect at least the flow of the dining experience is smooth and taken cared of. The whole experience was awkward at best and I dont think I will revisit again with the experience regardless of how great the food tasted, because the whole experience is just not there.

The food is indeed great and fresh materials and quality is rest assuredReservation is required as it’s a hotspot and everybody like itHowever the draw back of this place is that the place is really lacking a little bit of thingsThe renovation only great at the bar counter and everything else is just way too normalThe price tag is not really that align with what one would expect from this placeBut it’s definitely worth a one time visitTry to get bar seating since you already pay so much for it(The normal table seat is really NORMAL)

My first ever omakase experience and I loved everything about it. The food is definitely up to my expectations as it was fresh and deliciously prepared. Our group (6 of ustook the Omakase lunch menu and we were all really full at the end of the course. Some highlights of our meal were dishes with the sea urchin and fatty tuna. One of the sashimi was seared and believe me the place smelled like heaven!I appreciated how nice Chef Nao took the time to explain each dish to our group and answered some of our questions despite the language barrier. He was also very nice and friendly. We all had a good laugh when he started being cute on camera!Ther environment was lovely and service was great. My tea never runs out and is always warm!I’d definitely return again and would highly recommend friends & family to try it.

A very homely, authentic, Japanese restaurant tucked away in the heart of the city. However, reservations are recommended and car park spaces are limited on a first come first serve basis.Omakase (RM 380++ per person)Dishes: Apprtizer, Sashimi, Side Dishes, Steamed Egg Custard, Dish of The Day, Speciality Sushi, Miso Soup, Dessert.Taste: Overall, the ingredients used were extremely fresh and the flavours were brought out beautifully. The steamed egg was absolutely astonishing. Silky smooth texture and did not have the eggy after taste. Prior to this, we have never really been fans of Omakase as most are notoriously expensive and not all are good. However this was worth every cent.Next up, this is a review of their food delivery and not dine-inReigniting Our Love For Japanese FoodService: We were greeted by an auto responder which was swiftly replaced by a human informing us of the earliest pick up slot. Unlike most restaurants, the diner has to arrange their own delivery which was fairly easy.Packaging: Having personally visited the physical outlet previously, our heart did sink when we saw the flimsy plastic bag though this feeling quickly diminished as we pulled it apart to reveal the beautiful take away boxes within with a little note.Omakase Sushi 9 pcs (RM 180)Taste: Many a times, Omakase strikes fear in the very hearts & minds of diners. It simply means that our fate rests in the hands on the restaurant as long as the diner is agreeable to the price. Very similar to that of opening a Kinder surprise. Today however was a scene of a child opening presents on Christmas day. The fresh Sushi was held firmly in the box with cling wrap preventing any possible delivery mishap. Like a perfectly balanced High Tea set, the sushi had a mix of sweet & savoury from the melody of raw & cooked sushi made with odourless, fresh seafood individually wrapped with wasabi.Wagyu Rice Bowl (RM150)Taste: Imagine a smooth ice cream melting in your mouth & trickling down your throat on a warm summer’s day. The perfectly cooked Wagyu melted in our mouth almost upon entry. Accompanied by Japanese rice drizzled with teriyaki sauce & a splash of truffle giving the dish a mouth watering aroma which seduces the diner as the cap is removed from the bowl.Price: Reasonable for the quality of foodRecommended? Sushi Oribe has reignited our love for Japanese food through their love & passion displayed in their foodOur full review is on Instagram (@monk3yseendo).

It is no secret that she loves Japanese food. Given the choice, shed always choose Japanese food. If I give her few choices which include Japanese food, Japanese food it is. While we seldom eat omakase which seems to be popular on social media nowadays, due to the fact that we hardly feel full at the end of our meal despite paying high prices for it.For her birthday, I planned ahead and booked a table - the counter was fully booked by a big group. Reservation is very straight forward through their website and they even contacted me to confirm my reservation. That day, we arrived in downtown KL despite the heavy rain resulting in traffic congestion on major roads leading towards KL.Bringing along a bottle of Chablis Premier Cru which proved to be a perfect match for our food, we set out to enjoy the lovely dinner.Sushi Oribe was founded in 2014, and the team is striving to create a handcrafted culinary experiences. The restaurant has 12 counter seats plus few table that seats 2-4 diners and 2 private area for more intimate dining experience. That evening, we entrust the chef to select and prepare seasonal specialties and decide on all those little details of our meal.Leos verdict - for RM498++ per person, it felt like they really deliver. And I celebrate my wifes beautiful moment ie. Her birthday by Sushi Oribes exquisite dining experience. Still... Both of us were not full at the end of the meal, as predicted 😅I still give full stars to this restaurant despite one of our lady server didn’t seem enthusiastic to serve us at all. However the rest of the team was attentive and friendly.

Outstanding Sushi place downtown; ingredients all imported from Japan and of excellent quality. The chefs know what they do with all attention going into the dishes being served. Not only the fish but also the sophisticated marinades, freshly ground wasabi and prepared ginger are a delicacy. Omakase menu is well portioned and you won’t leave hungry. Reservation is a must.

Chef Naoya and his team kept us entertained and well fed. Chef Nao himself is engaging and happy to explain each dish while cracking jokes throughout the meal and indulging in some showmanship now and then.Fish selection is quite run-of-the-mill but very fresh. Interesting touches lies in the finishing garnish/condiments of each piece which brings a modern and flavourful twist. Standout sushi is the aburi engawa - flounder fin and of course the famous cholesterol bowl. However the sushi rice falls a bit below expectations being a hair too overcooked and flat in flavour. The 11 piece sushi lunch is decent value and will leave most satisfied but not bloated.

One of my favourite places for traditional omakase. Chef Nao is friendly & warm as he has always been. One of the things I enjoy about my visits to Oribe is the consistency that they offer. Also, his showmanship when it comes to presenting the sushi.Favourites this time round were definitely the amberjack belly, chutoro and the engawa. Also got a little extra something at the end from him 😁 Ive been here more than 10 times and I have to say, I havent been let down. would definitely recommend it!

Simple setting. Service can be better. Most waiter can t speak well. Given the status of this restaurant I would expect a supervisor to do the basic stuff when presenting each course. This just reflect the level of standard. Much room for improvement compare to those in Other countries

Generally the food is fresh and nice. You can really taste the freshness of the food. Also surprisingly the wasabi is very sweet and tasty which i ate all the wasabi. I enjoyed the omakase and would recommend if you can afford just go for the omakase as it will has more premium materials. The chef is also friendly and explained every food you had.

Top tier omakase sushi place in kuala lumpur. Service is what you expect of a top sushi shop. We had the oribe set and an omakase set.I loved the unagi Nigiri, it melts in your mouth. Other than that , I think it more or less the same experience youll find in top tiers sushi restaurant. The only complain was the wait from my Todays dish to the Nigiris. I waited for more than 20 minutes for the transition. It was one of the longest wait and it kind of killed off the course for me. Usually the transition between courses is seamless but I think the team or chefs must have missed it.Other than that its a pretty good place

We went for omakase dinner at the sushi bar. Food is delicious and very original, designed by the in-house chefs. The restaurant design is nice. Yasu-san, second chef, was very pleasant: he gave us explanation on every food he served and answered all our questions, esp. on Japanese eating manners. We had an overall extremely good time.On what they could do better: while the online booking form explains how critical it is for the customers to respect the booking time, we were surprised to be told at 6pm, our booking time, that we could not enter because the chef was not ready yet. We could however enter within 5 minutes (OK, I might be a bit too fussy about that one).I was also shocked that the waiter at some point asked to clear my plate when I had even not started eating the pickled wasabi leaves that were on it. Maybe he did not understand the content of the dishes and thought it was a mere decoration on the plate? We also were surprised that both our chairs seats at the sushi counter were stained. I would not have expected this for such class of restaurant. For these reasons, I would give only 4 out of 5.Regarding the price, it is high. However, given the chefs seniority and skills, and that they source all the ingredients fresh from Japan the previous day, including the fish from the fish market, and all of good quality, I would deem it still reasonable.

One of the friendliest place..and humourous Chef Taka. We were seated at the counter seat. (Left sidefacing the chef. Great experience, would always recommend to seat at the counter. The wait chef was very alert and quick to respond. After we paid, we were escorted by the front counter lady and she bow 90° until the door closes. *Amaze*.We had the omakase meal. Total up to 18 dishes. The overall dishes were good. Luv the 3 types Tuna experience: Akami, chu-toro, otoro; lean meat, fat, fattest. The flounder was also one of my fav. However, if i would to compare. I would preferred the omakase "journey" in Hinata. Where there are generally parts of meal: sashimi and then sushi. With the variety of sashimi and sushi, that gaves lots of "explosive" taste and more wow factor.Oribe wins: Service, customer engagement, great environment and feel good factor.

First time trying out this sushi place that everyone raves about. Interior wise, not as high end as I would have expected. We didnt manage to get seats by the bar where you can watch the sushi chefs in action. We opted for the dinner set, i.e. the Iga set (9 pieces sushiand Mino set (13 pieces sushirespectively. The sushi is fresh but I wouldnt say the overall experience commensurate the price that we paid for. The only thing memorable for me were the flounder fin sushi which melts in my mouth and this small bowl of sushi rice with sea urchin, tuna, Ikura and a dollop of wasabi 😍. Parking is a rip off because the guard collected RM20 from us as he said the limited parking for Oribe is full, but there were other empty spots which requires payment. As it was raining that day, we did not have the opportunity to challenge that statement hence paid for it anyways. Best to park elsewhere when it is not raining.

I think the sushi is decent however, Im unlikely to go back there again as i do not feel the chef understands what service or goodwill means. Hosted a friend of mine for dinner and brought along 2 expensive bottles of sake as their sake list was very basic and bought another 2 of their most expensive bottles there. Shared the sake with the chef the entire evening and even with some of his other customers which Im more than happy to do so. I was expecting a waiver in corkage charges but sad to say he charged me for both bottles i brought (which he is perfectly entitled to do so). However that left a very bad taste in my mouth after the dinner. Overall, decent sushi but i wont go back.

TL;DR: get the Oribe dinner menu and ask to be served by Chef Nao at the sushi bar. Pro tip: ask to replace the grilled and side dishes with sushi/sashimi for a non-stop party in your mouthWow. We’ve been to @oribesushi multiple times and every time, it manages to surpass expectations. The sushi and sashimi are fresh and the service takes the experience to a whole new level. For us, the highlight was definitely the High Cholesterol bowl, but honestly every single dish was on point and it was hard to pick a favourite; each were delicate, pristine, full of flavour, a perfect bite.@adventuresofmibby

Phenomenal fresh Japanese food at its finest. The service is impeccable and the staff are attentive and friendly. Sets are really one of the best options to order, though whether you go for omakase is up to how much your wallet intends to bleed for the night. A simple Mino set will suffice to bring you much joy and a seat at the counter enhances your experience tenfold as you watch your sushi chef prepare each course with love, care, and a hell lot of skill. The chefs themselves are funny, entertaining, and such great people, you cant help but laugh and enjoy your time there. While the price is definitely high, it is incredibly worth the money for stunningly scrumptious bursts of flavours in your mouth with every morsel. All sets are customizable with the chefs taking into consideration your likes / dislikes with the flavours. An overall fantastic experience which everyone should try at least once in their lives if financially able to.P/s: Try/request for the Engawa. It is absolutely mind-blowing. Youre welcome.

This is one of the best Japanese restaurant in Malaysia. The fish are freshly imported mostly from Japan. They have different types of fish based on the different season of Japan. It was then prepared by their skilled itamae and oh my the fish they serve are in thick slices!Definitely the best sushi experience I had so far around town.
