The people, landscape & communities of the area are on display at this modern museum attraction.
When we visited there was a fantastic display about Wiradjuri astronomy. There is so much to learn about the Aboriginal peoples collective knowledge about the night sky, and how changes in Celestial patterns could be applied in their sustainable management of the land. Well done Orange City Council!
Very helpfull and informative.
Nicely set out Friendly staff Great lay out Heaps of info material Overall great experience
Great friendly staff, welcoming us to Orange felt so great
So many amazing exhibitions and performances.
Good info on around the Orange 👍👍
Small museum but good for some local history. Also had a great interactive exhibit on cities while we were there, ideal for younger kids under 8 years. Nice gift shop with lots of local arts and crafts.
An amazing experience and example of the wonderful and inspiring occurrences of this region of our glorious country, which not only showcases the achievements of the European and Asian settlers of this wonderful country, but also acknowledges the cross cultural atrocities committed by them, through cultural ignorance and misunderstanding, which existed at the time.
hello, beatiful afternoon,my name is Maria Monserat Mejia Cuevas (STRONG WARRIOR)if you could give me the link to the government building there, please , I want to resport some stolen prizes , I await an urgent response ...
Variety of items on display showcasing Oranges history. Fun play area for the kids available as well
When we visited in June 2022, there was a lovely interactive exhibit by James Gulliver Hancock and it was whimsical, interesting and well thought out. I think both adults and children can enjoy the exhibit. The exhibits change regularly, so make sure to visit often. Also dont miss out on the very nice orange regional gallery next door
Good spot to fill in some time with the grandkids! Plenty of hands on activities relating to the theme of "cities".
Wonderful regional museum! Really interesting photos and Victoriana from the area. I grew up in Canowindra and there were items from my home town. Beautifully displayed. Great feeling for the history of the area. Well worth a visit!
Nice little regional museum with an interesting collection well displayed. It also has a very helpful tourist information centre who suggested some great things to do.
Nice
Small gallery but worth checking out. Recently renovated and it shows
Helpful, courteous staff as always in Information spots.
A small museum but filled with interesting history. Its also free so well worth a visit! Unfortunate that the building is ugly.
A nice exhibit but not as good as Millthorpe Museum or the Orange RSL Memorial Hall.
Turned into a more kid experience with very many of the original displays of the orange museum being removed.Unfortunately not the same as it used to be more of a tourist attraction now.
The regional museum was not as fun as the art museum next door. But had some interesting facts about the history of the town.
The How Cities Work is a brilliant exhibition. We spent about an hour and half moving between the activities. Its only small but crafted perfectly for enquiring minds. Really impressed with this regional museum.
Very helpful and assisted with maps and making sure we understood everything. Even recommended a few good places for lunch
A good place to go to find out the history and heritage of Orange and surrounding areas. I found it very informative.
Loved it, well worth a visit. You find an array of information about the town and its surroundings. AAA+++
Small museum nicely presented. Loved all the photos from the 50s and 60s
Great to reflect on childhood memories here! Lovely information staff here too.
Better than expected to be completely honest. The set up is very nice, clean and well done. The content is a bit hit and miss but the ~70% of content that is, is very interesting, good to look at and learn about. Not a tone of content, you will be lucky to kill more than a half hour.Small interaction space for kids to play games like Pickup Sticks, Knuckles and draw.
Nice items in the shop and the Museum is very interesting (free entry)
As soon as you enter the main door you will first see the information ℹ️ centre where you can get information about the area and places you can visit.Past that, there is the museum. There are variety of items present from 19th and 20th century. Some of the artefacts belong to people that lived in Western Australia.
Well organised, beautiful design and great cafe. The museum doubles as the visitor centre so information galore!
Excellent venue. Cafe on site has good coffee, great meal sizes and friendly staff.
Sited in the arts quarter, an information centre is co-located which is very widely signposted - so easy to find. Actually found the staff was extremely helpful and had a wide range of tourist maps and accommodation information, worth a visit.
Quite interesting, if rather small. I think there were on going renovations happening. The exhibits themselves were interesting especially a film from many years ago.
Very interesting local artefacts - only needs 15-20 min if you read all the exhibits. We stumbled upon this small space just walking around town and glad we went in- it’s free!
Well laid out with a very interesting regional historic memorabilia exhibition.
Excellent coffee and service. Meals are delish. Outside faces Northwest and is beautiful on a sunny autumn or winter morning.
Good for information, building itself is of nice architecture design.
Helpful and welcoming staff. We got all the info we needed for our weeks stay in Orange. The museum also had several great exhibitions on which kids and adults in our group loved.
Museum has lot of history of Orange which is great to know, the executives at helpdesk are super helpful - ask them anything about the places to visit. Beautiful souvenirs and products from local produce is worth it. If going in autumn the tree line outside is worth clicking, one such pic is this
A good educational resource for the history of the area as well as surrounding locations.
It is small museum but very well organised. You can feel the old orange in every piece. The paintings about the great war were the spotlight. It is free, the staff is kind. It takes around 30-40min to see all the museum.
A small but very interesting museum which showcases much of the history of Orange & surrounds. I learnt a lot about how Orange developed from colonial beginnings to todays major regional centre. I thoroughly recommend a visit here which is also free admission.
Right next to the regional gallery is this stylish museum building opened in 2017, appearing to emerge from the ground and topped with an environmentally-friendly grass roof.Exhibitions at the Orange Regional Museum are updated at short intervals, but are sourced from a large collection that covers Aboriginal culture and history, 19th-century gold mining, Orange’s built heritage, important local people, migration, wartime, sports and local industries like wine, wool and agriculture. In 2020, upcoming exhibitions dealt with wartime propaganda, women videogame creators, early Australian photography and mugshots from the 1920s.
The information centre is also located in here. There’s a nice cafe, souvenirs for sale and also an exhibition that runs in an adjacent room. I like the architecture of the building, especially where you can walk up the stairs to view over the top of the building. It’s also located in a good, central area.
This is a great little free display at the moment it is about food but they seem to change the display each year or so , great place for older kids but real small kids will get bored quickly. id recommend calling in and having a look if you get the chance. has public toilets and very friendly staff
The cafe was not as good as last time. Service and staff are great but menu brief and seems a little expensive. I had pull lamb burger with coleslaw on it. It was just fair, but $20? The chips were good. Maybe I had an off day.
Interesting regional heritage display. Some interactive activities for children.
Small museum off the side of the tourist information area.....no staff approached us at all even on a very quiet Saturday afternoon which is a bit of a shame ......wanted to ask some questions but we felt like we were intruding. We went to Bathurst tourist information and they could not help us enough.
Love this place, Orange is an amazing town with lots of history and these guys do a great job showcasing that
