Modern, easygoing place with wall art, neon signs and a mezzanine, for simple Korean dishes.
Nice place. Had some problem with the order app. Came food cold☹️
ORDERED:🍚 Beef Bulgogi Stone bibimbap ($17.80)🧃 Bongbong ($3.50)REVIEW:Appreciate the bibimbap here at Oppa. Its got a good selection of sides like carrots, bean sprouts, radish, mushroom and more! Which makes it mixing up all the more fun. However with the price and nature of establishment its a bit basic. The sides aforementioned are barely seasoned, so you really make it up by dousing your dish with their mixed gochujang-based sauce. In a hot bowl, your food comes warmer. Theres also the opportunity for the rice to crisp up! My friend got the curry and unfortunately - he felt like it was cold 😅.Oppa is still a great affordable place to eat, down swanston street. Nothing mindblowing though.
Ordered the grilled steak, hoping to get grilled steak and rice, but for some reason the dish is basically 40% a salad. Disappointed with portion, and the fact that a huge portion of the meal was a salad and a croquette that was cold. Would not recommend
Came here with two of my friends. Service was quick and friendly. We all enjoyed our food & the price was very reasonable. Would definitely come back!
Dabest Kimchi I’ve ever tasted..😍
Food here was pretty average, but its a nice little spot to get your K-food cravings.
Very favourite place to have veg bibimbap
MehOrdered doordash. Was on timeOrdered bibimbap pork. Rice cold. Pork was ok , egg cold. Pickles were best bit.Small set fried chicken. Chicken ok bit too much sauce and oily.Wont go back in hurry.
Ordered from ubereats. Food took 1.5hrs to arrive. Eventually had my lunch at 2:30pm.Had the Pork Bimbibap, it came with a tiny portion of pork. Sauce wasn’t tasty too. Overall average experience. ☹️
Quick service. Food was tasty and portion was excellent.
Where the more affordable korean fried chicken is. For single people like me, their $9.50 fried chicken is enough. Add rice or some tteobokki then all good, done. Over the years tho, I have noticed that the serving is becoming less and/or the chicken is less on meat. Nonetheless, I’d still go back for the affordability and good single serving portion.
My absolute favourite place to go when I come to the city, I live in melton and I go most of the time to just come here. My signature meal is the grilled pork belly on rice, seteokkbokki ( probably spelt that wrong My apologies and a coke. I could eat it all day everyday. Its absolutely amazing, its around 30$ and very worth the price.
Pretty decent menu selection, very solid quality food and service for a decent price point.Edit: Went again recently and I have to lower my rating. The food quality was average and theyve been raising the price to a point where I dont think its good value. $18 for a hot bowl bibimbap and almost $10 for some rice cake and sausage skewers is pretty ridiculous.
Dont understand the high rating. I found the food kind of average. I ordered the fried chicken and a pork kimchi soup with rice. The chicken tasted alright but it was half flower/starch not actual meat. The sauce tasted like the stuff you get on patato wedges in a pub, which makes sense because a quater of the plat of chicken was patato wedges. The soup was extremely meager without much content. But at least tasted like kimchi soup.
The location was right in the middle of Melbourne CBD, very convenient. They offer a wide range of Korean foods including street food. The price was okay, note that they have surcharge for card users.
Nice Korean food with good price.
4.5 starsFood: 5☆had the sotteok skewers and tteokbokki. Both were really nice and tasty, the teokbokki was spicy so keep that in mind.Service: 4☆the service was somewhat quick and the staff were formal. Not friendly just polite.Ambiance: 4☆Cute interior there’s also a second floor. Clean. Not fancy but nice. They can get a bit cramped with the seating.Overall this is a good place to stop by for lunch but I wouldn’t come from like the other side of Melbourne just for this restaurant 😅
The kimchi dumplings are literally my favourite dumplings I have had in my life- and I eat a lot of dumplings. I always come here for lunch after uni. So cute. I love this place
Quick and delicious food. Good portion and reasonable price too. Very Korean vibe. Been here a few times already and will come back for more.
The food here is good but nothing particularly special. Portions are decent and food comes quickly. The staff are also neither friendly nor unpleasant. Overall pretty average!
Ordered Bibimbap and curry rice. The order came out very quickly. But was disappointed with croquette being cold which was served with the curry rice. Other than that everything was good.
Food is good and tasty, i got and reccomend the korean chicken with curry and rice. Such a shame that one of the young female staff members was incredibly rude, one of my friends wasnt familar with the menu or the ordering process and when he asked her for help or anything at all she walked away mid conversation. This happened more than one. Worst service and attitude Ive ever seen from a waitress.
Ive been here consistently and each time, the service and food are great and tasty. The music there are also pretty great. My most recent visit however was quite disappointing as there was a huge cockroach on the wall. Thankfully we had already finished eating and were about to leave. Not only that, but the staff failed to catch the cockroach and just didnt bother after, which isnt very hygienic!
Quick service and delicious food . Had the chicken bibimbap.. generous serve with flavourful chicken and fresh vegetables. Definitely coming back !!!
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNFRIENDLY STAFF. I wish i can give 0.1 stars so fxxked upTheir foods was not too bad just same quality as typical Korean street foods that you can find in the city.
The fried chicken curry was excellent, especially for the price. Food was served with a side of kimchi at no added cost which was fantastic (and delicious)! Lovely staff as well.
This 3stars for customer service, the staff members were really good but food really disappointed me tteokbokki was so bad and drumpling really made me cry pork bulgogi was not bad but the quantity was less than other korean restaurant and the plates looks so gross.
My first time here and I have to admit that I don’t have to much experience with korean food but I liked it! Will probably revisit at some point.
We ordered the chicken schnitzel curry, sweet & spicy fried chicken, Doenjang Jjigae and the beef gimbap. Out of all the dishes I tried, the chicken curry was my fav and would recommend. The portion for the soybean stew (Doenjang Jjigaewas the worst as it was served in small portion and only had a few slices of beef, was very disappointed while the gimbap was filled, it lacked flavor.
Oppa is my favourite restaurant to go to when I’m in the mood for a quick and delicious meal. Service is amazing and the food comes out so quick. Definitely the best Korean food I’ve eaten in Melbourne. I’d definitely recommend.
The restaurant is cute and cosy; and the food looks so good and extremely presentable. I do like how everything looks! ✨However, both of our dishes were pretty cold.. Given we ordered the food on the spot I didn’t understand why the food was so cold and hard like it was left outside for quite some time.. probably not come back :(
Such yummy food we had TTEOKGGOCHI which were rice cake skewers with caramelised gochujang, beef bibimbap and another wonderful dish my gf got.Amazing customer service, our food was ordered and within a few minutes it was at our table. There was a cool breeze coming through and the staff were happy to close the door for us. They were very attentive to everything and we’ll definitely come back.
me and my friend came here for dinner and we absolutely loved it, all of the staff there were super kind and the food was absolutely delicious !the prices were affordable as well, i’ll certainly be going there again ^
I’ve been going here for years every time I head to the city and I absolutely love it. The staff are friendly and the food is great !!
3 years ago my boyfriend and I had our first date at Oppa. We continue to regularly come back because the staff are so lovely and the food is amazing. I picked up some takeaway recently after a long lockdown of missing it. The menu is diverse but every item I’ve tried has been great! I highly recommend
Insta: melbfoodie_markYT: MelbFoodieMark-Trendy interior with heaps of neon lights but thats pretty much it. I got Curry Rice with Chicken Schnitzel which was okay - nothing special. I got a chance to try my friends Korean Fried Chicken and Pork Belly Dosirak but they were also mediocre. A good place to come for a date but not for quality food
I ordered a Grilled Beef Steak Bucket, and oh boy, it was good! I love how the charcoal taste lingered in the meat enhancing the flavor. Also, it was well cooked. The meat was not dry and tough. The meal was also comprised of leafy greens, half of a potato croquette, a slice of cucumber and an orange, and with the rice splashed with a bit of the beef sauce. It looks like a simple meal, but once tasted, gets better and better.Downside is the size. If you are a big eater, this may not be enough. However, I am happy with the portion as it filled my belly just right.Post lockdown, Oppa Kitchen was doing well. Physical (SocialDistancing was observed and sanitizers were available. Will surely come back for more!
one of my favorite Korean restaurant 😍 grilled pork belly and their fried chicken are the best.. all staff are nice 👍🏻
Nice food and staff! The service is really quick in general! And the food is great for the price! In summer is a bit hot because the place doesn’t have aircon! I strongly suggest the spicy and sweet fried chicken! It’s really tasty!
Nice place for a quick bite and drink! The boneless fried chicken was nicely done, the sauce wasnt overwhelming yet strong enough to complement the dish. Best to be enjoyed with a side of Korean beer! The crispy rice cake skewer with chili sauce was good too, its crispy on the outside but still nice and chewy on the inside.Place wasnt too spacious so better not go in when youre carrying lots of things.
Quick service with great food. Clean environment and blight area. We had really good time here. Fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce is definitely highly recommended. Hot stone rice is my favorite. Beef smelled so good and really delicious. Would visit there again soon😀😀😀
Loved the grilled pork belly meat bucket and pork soup rice!👌 Staff were excellent, service was quick and shop is quite trendy. Perfect rainy day meal. Came back again and tried the soy garlic fried chicken and it was awesome!!
Consistently great Korean fare, whether you feel like some fried chicken, or a meal bucket, or some traditional Korean soup and rice. Ive been eating here for over 5 years and the quality hasnt dipped once. Ive always found the staff friendly and the service time is swift. Highly recommended!
The grilled pork don was so yummy!!! The fried chicken with soy garlic, tteokbokki and fried dumplings were not bad.Service and atmosphere is good, spacious restaurant and nice decor.Bonus is they have Liven so you get cashback when you dine here!
Nice interior! Ordered the spicy grilled pork belly meal bucket (dosirakfor $13.80. It was filling and the meat is tender. Will be back to try other dishes!
Decided to take a punt and try a restaurant without checking any reviews like the good old days.Luckily we did because this place serves tasty korean food.Similar to soul seoul in richmond they offer value for money meal buckets. The bulgogi steak meal bucket was very good. The beef was cooked perfectly. It was flavoursome and included a nice variety of food.Im glad we gave this place a shot.
On the pricey side, but the food is phenomenal. One of the best Asian restaurants in Melbourne. The staff are very friendly and the restaurant has a nice trendy look to it. They have sufficient vegetarian options as well as many meat based dishes. They also have Korean drinks, which though pricey, taste excellent. Overall, would highly recommend checking Oppa out!
great and big portions. It is not a fancy place, but it is clean, tidy and all dishes have great presentation and are very tasty. you are not going to be disappointed. If you are visiting Melbourne and you want a quick and fast lunch this is a good option to have in mind.
Never had Korean grilled pork belly as a take away meal box before. Interesting concept. The pork was tender and juicy. Rice was drizzled with sweet soy glaze. Salad was fresh. What was amazing was the addition of orange that added acidity and freshness to balance all the char and meaty flavor from the pork.
They are selling those bucket meals that taste awesome !!but thats about it for them in my opinion.also ordered korean fried chicken and kimchi dumpling but they dont really taste delicious.Totally recommend the bucket meal though
