Sleek, low-lit spot with old-school chef infusing flavors from China, Malaysia and Thailand.
The stuff food dreams are made of! Dim sum second to none, beautiful array of mushrooms, wonderful flavours and textures and absolutely superb waiting staff. The skill and care of the chefs truly shines through the food! Vegan options are gorgeous. Worth every rosette.
Opium is one of the better Chinese restaurants I have dined in Glasgow, with excellent staff service.
Been to this establishment a few times and always been satisfied. Introduced a couple of friends who were very impressed by Opium, its fabulous food and great cocktails. The staff are very genial and welcoming. The service is always on point! My dinner choice was flavoursome, fresh and exquisitely presented. An excellent choice of venue for any occasion.
Great meal. No complaints. Looking forward to going back
The food was great, but the service could be quite slow at times. They also dont always do a special birthday dessert if you request it, so just double check. Overall, a nice place!
Food is exceptional. Dim sum, outstanding. Reasonably priced.
We stopped by on a Sunday night. Food was fresh and delicious. Service was courteous. A good spot if youre craving asian-fusion dishes.
Came here for dinner on a busy Saturday night. We were seated promptly and served quickly. Service overall was professional and the servers are attentive to the tables, topping up water promptly and clearing empty plates. To drink, we ordered the Hanoi margarita, shanghai night and the mandarin mojito- all were very flavourful and easy to drink. For entrees, we ordered chicken & shiitake nushroom dumplings, sticky plum ribs and chilli salt and pepper squid. The squid and ribs were the highlight of the evening, and are full of flavour (see photos). For mains, we tried the king pao chicken and pork belly, both were tasty but were outdone by the entrees (see photos).Overall a quality dining experience and worth a visit in Glasgow.
absolutely the finest thia green curry ive ever tasted ,outstanding flavours , service was first class also , defoes return here !!
Lovely dim sum meal and flavourful monkfish clay pot with friendly waitstaff.
Honestly the best Asian restaurant Ive been to in a long time! Lovely setting, delicious food and drinks, and the staff are incredibly friendly! Ill be back 100% 😊
First day in Glasgow and this was the highlight. Appetizers even better than mains. Great place
Thoroughly enjoyed the dining experience. All the dishes were authentic and delicious, as well as thoughtfully presented. My only qualm would be with the service- I had to ask for water and utensils, which werent provided even as I was being sat down at my table. Staff were insistent on me getting something from the drinks menu, which I found a bit odd.
Fantastic food and very attentive staff. The menu has lots of options with most having a good punch of spice and aroma. Loved every mouthful, Ill definitely be back again.
Amazing food, so delicious and the presentation is also incredible. I had the pork, it was stunning! I will be back next time in Glasgow!!
Unbelievably fantastic.Ive left 5 star reviews before but few come close to how good the food is here. I would definitely recommend and go out of my way to return.
Service was not good waited over 40minutes our mains.Food quality is decent but I wouldnt recommend this place as overall it was less than average.
Fresh, delicious food. Kind, attentive and overall supernice staff. Im very happy I stumbled across this restaurant and Id recommend it to anyone.I had a really great experience here. The clearly marked vegetariam and vegan options, of which there are plenty, are a big plus.
This is a great place. Super Nice food and super Nice Staff. I would recommend 10/10!
Hadnt been to the restaurant in about 4 years and had totally forgotten how good it was! Amazing food, full of flavour and great selection of dishes to choose from. Staff were great and very attentive. We ordered quite a few dishes as there was so much we wanted to try, everything was delicious. My beef fillet main was 👌
Another great visit! Back in Glasgow again for work after a 3 year absence. A number of changes on the restaurant scene, not all good, but Opium did not fail to impress again! Lovely food, pleasant ambiance, lovely evening.
Fantastic Food and Service x
vegan dumplings, yesssiir. Loads of love in the food, absolutely delicious. Can wholeheartedly recommend
Hadnt been in a long time but popped in a quiet Sunday night for some dim sum and a couple of drinks and it was every bit as good as I remembered. Its a fairly small menu but theres plenty to choose from and the food is excellent, the dumplings both boiled (crab meat and chiveand fried (chicken and lemongrassare some of the best Ive had and the salt n chilli tofu was also very good. The staff are lovely and the service was great, definitely wont leave it so long to come back and try more of the menu
I went here for a work dinner this week and it was truly a wonderful experience! The staff were so attentive and kind, especially considering we were a large group of 12. The food was AMAZING (dim sum was *chef’s kiss*as well as the cocktails, and I can’t fault a single thing. Will definitely be back and tell my friends about it too. Thanks for a lovely evening!
Food was sensational and the service was excellent. I simply could not fault it, we will be back soon.
Perfect taste and fantastic dessert!
We had been looking for Chinese food all week and this was the best joint by far! I recommend any of the steamed dumpling dishes (shumai type). Staff was really responsive as well.
Probably some of the best Asian food Ive had in Glasgow. We tried the crab dumplings, the shanghai gyoza, the kung pao chicken, and the massaman beef curry. We also tried the espresso martini and the cheese cake for desert. It was all incredible. The service was really fast and friendly. Hard to fault them!
This place is really good, loved the fresh dumplings which were bang on. The kung pao chicken was delicious. Service was fast and polite. A very nice meal with good company. Whats there not to like!
Everything here is divine. The staff is so nice and attentive, and the food is outstanding. My fav is the salt and pepper tofu.
Outstanding food coupled with great service make this a standout restaurant in my book. We had a wide selection of dim sum and mains to sample their menu, and everything was expertly prepared and fantastic.
Absolutely fantastic meal here, the tastiest food weve had in a few years. Would highly recommend this establishment. We both rated our food 10 out of 10. Superb!!
A fantastic place! The food was one of the best I had in a long time, the staff couldnt be nicer and the whole experience was so premium! I will be coming back as many options on the menu I still want to try. Thank you so much 😊
Some of the best Chinese food Ive ever had. Highly recommend the Rib eye beef with Shiraz sauce 🥲
This is a great Chinese restaurant in the heart of Glasgow City centre. They do main courses and excellent dim sum. Staff are very good and the food tastes amazing.
This is the best Asian Fusion Restaurant in Glasgow (that Ive been to)We shared 6 dishes from the starter menu and every one was a winner. I enjoyed the food so much I forgot to take photos of it.We hadSticky plum ribsSoft shell crabCrispy duck rollScallopsGyozaSalt & Pepper SquidAll great and Im trying to engineer a meeting again there next week just to go back!Service is very attentive. The only downside is its not cheap. But its well worth the money. So Im not taking stars off for that.
Its ok, I wasnt blown away by this I have to admit. I went for the duck with basil for my main and it was nice, fried ice cream and a glass of wine, you wont be disappointed I guess, but I was hoping for a bit more excitement!
Beautiful food, fish cooked to perfection and fragrant fluffy rice. Great selection of dishes to choose from. Friendly, helpful service. A small gripe, prices are quite high for smallish portions. Lovely atmosphere, I look forward to returning.
Nice atmosphere, a great place to have dinner. The Thai seabream and the banana fritter for desert were super tasty!
I’ve been here two times in a week during my stay in Glasgow. The food is really good, a mix between Chinese and south-east Asia cuisine. We really enjoyed their homemade dim sum; especially the Opium’s ribs is a dish you can’t skip if you come to this restaurant. It’s really something to die for XD. I had the first time the slow cooked pork belly which it was not too fat and the second time the kung bao chicken. Don’t expect the kung bao is the traditional Chinese style one but it’s also really good, the flavour is more sweet and sour and not spicy. If you have enough space at the end I suggest to try also their desserts, all good as they presented it on the plate. Will come back for sure in my next visit
Food was tasty and good menu to choose from. I enjoyed the selection of dim sum and the pork belly roll was really tasty. Overall enjoyed the meal but wasn’t blown away.We also ordered fried rice but I couldn’t tell if that’s what we got or if they accidentally gave us boiled (which wasn’t on the menu but I’m pretty sure that’s what it was).
Food and atmosphere were good, service was good but would have liked a recommended amount of dishes to order from the server.Still a great meal and would recommend!
Had a variety of dim sum & a cocktail. Loved it all. Freshly cooked & reasonably priced. Not tried the main dishes, but everything we had was delicious.
Nice clean and modern looking place. 4th visit and not disappointing yet. Always a pleasure for both food and service. We opted for full menu, portion size is good and there is a nice selection of dishes. Food looks great for the items that I have had, arrives piping hot and fresh.Good for cocktails and mocktails, decent selection of wine and well priced.Good hygiene measures and spacing
I am honestly not able to remember a single thing that ruined my experience. I came in in a very busy time but they were really nice to get me seated. Food was Absolutely scrumptious ! I wanted to try so many items on the menu but managed three dishes which were 10/10. Highly recommended
What a gem! Very friendly staff, who gave some good advice on selecting dishes. We decided to go for dim sum and we went through them in no time. The cocktails were very good and for dessert theres something for everyone, so try to save some space. If you are in Glasgow definitely check it out.
The food here was simply amazing and service was friendly and fast. The waitress recommended the chive and crab dumplings and while I was a little skeptical it was well worth ordering. The restaurant can accommodate groups as well, is close to active areas in Glasgow and if you want to get an after meal drink, a famous place is just on the other side of the street.
Arrived here at 945 on a Monday but was still able to sit down just before they closed at 10.00 PM. After the reccomendations and reviews we had to try it out. The service was great and the food was amazing. Fried won ton, spicy prawn toast, king Pao chicken and bbq grilled chicken all were delicious. Thanks guys !!
This is a very excellent restaurant. The service is professional and the atmosphere relaxed. The food is very good and tasty. The prices are a bit higher but its worth it if you want to have a good dinner. I enjoyed it very much!
