25 Wills St, Melbourne VIC 3000, Australia, Melbourne
Brunch cafe and coffee hangout in an early 1900s building that housed Melbourne's first switchboard.
Went out with a couple of friends and they had delicious food. However I went back for a second time and the portion sizes were significantly smaller, we spent about $24-$28 on our dishes which didn’t really fill us up. (Photos here were when I went for the first time)
Coffee was gooood it made me want to move to Melbourne! 😂 My husband got Korean chicken burger while I had soft crab omelette. I felt there was way too many eggs on my plate I couldn’t finish it, and just 1 soft shell crab. It was delicious nonetheless.
Love the idea of Asian inspired dishes infused with modern Australian. There were interesting menu items that I do want to go back and try. This time I tried the Balinese pork burger and white chocolate matcha latte. I enjoyed my meal and my friend had the Ponzu salmon which she really liked too
I haven’t been here in years but I remembered it being fantastic. Coming back, I was not disappointed. The food looked beautiful and tasted amazing. We had the ube hotcakes and the teriyaki mushrooms. The only thing is that I’d prefer the coffees to be hotter. I can’t wait to be back!
This is the place for Asian Fusion Brunch lovers or Brunch lovers in general 😋😋😋. There is a reason why they are busy and packed. We wished to try the entire menu but had the please to have the following.1. BALINESE PORK 🐷 BELLY BURGER 🍔🍔🍔🍔 - Take a deep breath, love at first bite. Beautifully marinsted pork belly, fried egg with gooey yolk 🍳, creamy chilli mayo with beautiful slaw in a fantastic brioche. A must try guys. Their sweet potato chips are also ridiculously delicious 🤤🤤. Ive butchered the cross section of thr burger when I tried to cut in half though 😛. Not a bad thing as this burger packs flavour.2. SOFT SHELL CRAB 🦀 OMELETTE 🍳 🍳🍳🍳 - Are you kidding me? With soft shell crab? You heard that right. Soft shell crab fried to perfection, soft fluffy omelette, spicy chilli relish on beautiful bread. Forget dimsum, go these guys for some awesome soft shell crab 🤤.3. CAPPUCHINO and BABYCINO ☕ - beautifully made all round. Of course my daughter loves it along with the food we had 😛I highly recommended this place. Fantastic breakfast altogether and the staff are absolutely awesome. But come in quick as they will be packed very quickly especially on weekends.
Excellent Café. Coffee brewed perfectly, breakfast was well balanced with sweet breakfast not overly sweet. Was so lovely we went for breakfast there twice during this trip and will definitely return on future trips to Melbourne. 🙂
A very busy cafe, recommend to make booking (40 min wait on weekend for walk-in). Outdoor seating at the front. Friendly staff and quick service. Great hojicha latte. I like the Bulgogi beef taco. Soft shell crab omelette was good, nice fluffy egg with tom yum sauce. 10% Sunday surcharge and 15% public holiday surcharge.
Amazing food and excellent service well worth the wait!! The food was so delicious I got another dish. I had the crab omelette and then the Char siu dish 10/10 would recommend and the chai latte was just as amazing!!! :)
Had high expectations of this place because of their reviews and they definitely did not disappoint! Had the Ube pancakes and Char Siu Benedict, which were both amazing. The pancakes were light and fluffy and the eggs were perfectly poached. Coffee was great too.Would definitely recommend.
The pulled pork eggs Benedict was very poorly done. I’m sure the chef doesn’t know what real char siu tastes like! Could barely finish our meal as a result. Scrambled eggs was normal. Coffee was average. The Nutella chocolate drink was not too bad. Decided to give this place a try as apparently it housed Australia’s first ever switchboard. Disappointing to say the least.
Houjicha latte with soy milk was sooo nice, I’ll come back many times just for that.As a bonus, the mushroom dish with soft polenta was fantastic. It’s very refreshing to be able to have a vegetarian dish that isn’t served in toast, thank you. The sauce was reminiscent of jus and had a lovely depth to it. My friend enjoyed their Thai tea later and Benedict.Service was friendly and everything arrived promptly. People complaining about the wait- maybe don’t go at peak time when they’re absolutely slammed…?
Went in at an earlier time on Saturday and was lucky to get one of the best seats there. The char siu benedict offered a wonderfully poached egg with a slightly sweet hint from the porkOverall great portions and would come again
The menu has interesting and creative dishes. They were nice but I thought the taste could be better. The omelette was a bit bland. The coffee was very strong, which is nice but it would have been better if it came in a bigger cup. Maybe its just me but there was a steady stream of customers so this restaurant should be fine for most people.
Went to this place this morning for Brunch. This isn’t my first time to dine here and had a great time. We had the pork belly burger and smashed avo with pineapple and OJ. The staffs are friendly and helpful, the food were fresh and colourful. The only negative was we had to share table with a young couple and the guy was coughing and sometimes not covering his mouth.
Just discovered another stunning restaurant for brunch! Absolutely loved the food, the presentation, the atmosphere and the staff as well☺️. I tried their Teriyaki Mushrooms and Soft Shell Crab Omelette (I’ve added pictures of the Menu, in case someone wants to check out the description💕Everything tasted absolutely delicious👌🏼Amazing food quality👌🏼 Will definitely go again!❤️(The restaurant closes at 4pm, but in case you’re planning to go, keep in mind the kitchen closes at 3:30pm)
I had the best breakfast I have had for a loooong time at Operator25. The coffee was amazing and the friendliness of the staff topped it off. Well definitely be back next time were in town.
Went here on a weekend with a friend for a late lunch.I ordered the Thai Tea Latte (not too sweet, earthy tonesand the Char Siu Benedict (nicely poached eggs, well-balanced hollandaise with the sweet pulled pork or their version of char siu). My friend enjoyed their mushrooms and polenta dish as well, particularly their rich and flavourful but vegetarian jus/sauce.As we arrived as a walk-in for late lunch, seating was not an issue. Service was reasonably friendly and efficient, and they provided us with table water. Casual ambience. Prices as expected for a popular brunch place and portions were generous.Overall, a good lunch option!
This was our first visit to the cafe and were thoroughly impressed with the food and the attentiveness of our hosts, I highly recommend booking at this venue because it is such a busy cafe and there is limited seating. So the coffee was beautiful the barista certainly knows how to make a good coffee, and as for the food wow such flavour and variety I am thoroughly impressed with flavour combinations they work so well and how quickly the food is served as well. Well done we will be back again!!!
The food was fantastic! Presentation was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful. Tried this place for breakfast. I had the Char Siu Benedict. I was impressed by it all. Coffee was good, probably a 8 out of 10 but the food definitely made the experience worth it. The place itself is really nice too maybe getting loud when so busy and a lot of movement happening around so not so much a place to be if you want to chill and relax. Would recommend and will be back there with friends for sure !
Really quick service and the food was great. Not so affordable prices and didn’t really appreciate being sat with randoms although we had booked. Gave me no personal space and were very loud so I couldn’t have a conversation myself.
Probably the most generous portion of smashed avocado that I’ve ever had in the whole of Melbourne. They served it with roasted cauliflower which was my first time trying such combination and I love it!
3 great things about this place:- Great decor dishes with variety of options.- A range of drinks including tea and coffee. We ordered a soy hojicha which is a roasted type of tea.- Great location.2 minus things:- No split bills- Can be very crowdy even on week days.
Friendly service/staff, reasonable price, and good coffee with great temperature! Will definitely come back again!
Great breakfast/brunch place, best smash avo I’ve ever had, fresh, tasty, variety of textures, awesome presentation . Fritters were also so good! Super crispy and tasty. Good service ! Will come back
Waited for 30 min to get a table last Sunday.Waiting time for food to come out (30+minand the server to come provide the QR code after we sat down (15-20minare the let-downs on top of the additional 10% Sunday surcharge imposed. I guess we were not attended immediately because of outdoor table, until we went inside to notify that we were waiting to be served. Afterward, it was all good. The lady who served us was very friendly and accommodating. The food were delicious though. Must try this soft shell crab omelette! Hopefully, the whole experience could be better during the weekday.
The food and coffee was delicious, we ordered the soft shell crab omelette, teriyaki mushrooms and the croffle dessert. Wait time was short, and we left the cafe with a full stomach.
Great place to catch up with friends. The food and drinks are so cute 🥰, but it’s a bit sweet. So anyone with a sweet tooth will surely enjoy it 😉 . For other I recommend pairing your food w something less sweet like the coffee rather than the matcha 🍵 latte.
Really nice breakfast had at Operator 25 - busy yet able to get a table and quickly served. Really great coffee and meals and nice friendly service
Cosy environment with delicious food and coffee. The beans used were flavourful and my milk was steamed perfectly for a smooth latter 😋Lots of options on the menu, and it wasnt too busy with a short queue even for a table of 4
My Last minute google search for best brunch places in Melbourne told me this is the place for me to be and the place was just amazing there was a bit of a wait but it was worth it the food took a while to come but they were super busy so it made sense and the chicken burger was amazing the poached eggs were a little over cooked but it was still good. Overall it was a good experience 3.5/5
Finally I could come here! It’s so busy that takes us 25 minutes to wait but it’s worthy. Food is great, we order Char Siu Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict and Ponzu Salmon. I love it so much! The sauce is excellent! Staff is friendly too!Definitely come back!
Heard a lot of great reviews about this brunch spot and gave it a try. The place is decorated well and the presentation is amazing (really loved the latte art)! The quality of their food was alright - it was palatable but nothing stood out. We ordered their popular kaya matcha latte, but it was a let down for me because there was just not enough kaya taste. Overall a chill, typical brunch spot that’s great for catching up with your mates.
French toast tasted good and was well presented. Oat milk flat white came out a little bit cold. Service was nice and competent even though it was really busy. Value/money is good 😊 I’d come again!
Asian fusion brunch! Teriyaki mushrooms and egg Benedict were amazing. Especially mushrooms have plenty of flavors, almost same as fine dining. Highly recommend.
Lovely little cafe, friendly and helpful staff, great for catch ups! Food was good, so was the coffee. Super busy little cafe, extremely cosy. The omelette was super tasty and i loved the smoked octopus in it! Burger was very worth it, super filling and those fries were to die for!! Definitely worth coming to check out.📷 Chilli Open Omelette, Balinese Pork Burger, Hojicha Latte, Flat WhiteCaught up with a friend during my lunch break and was worried we wouldn’t have enough time to eat, but we had plenty! So glad this place is only a 5 minute walk from work. Will definitely be visiting more often.I had the ube waffles, was really good but i’m not sure the black sesame ice cream paired too well with the ube flavour. The use of jackfruit is also really questionable as the flavour and smell is so strong and would just overpower everything else.French toast was amazing! Well executed and presented. Super pretty and picturesque! Very yummy as well.📷 Ube Waffle, French Toast, Flat White
Beautiful dishes and astonishingly gorgeous combinations of food. The outside area is a peaceful place to sit and enjoy a brunch. The waitress gave out perfect recommendations and needed us with a smile. Coffee was really good.
Food was absolutely delicious! Corn fritters were a perfect balance of sweet and savoury. Service was also impeccable.
Delicious brunch Cafe on the outskirts of the cbd. Great coffee options and plenty of choices for meals or a snack.Friendly service, minimal food wait times.Quality and presentation of food is incredible!Cant wait to come back next time!
Food is always exceptionally amazing here. 2nd time visiting here from Adelaide and can not fault anything. We had an ant crawling in our desserts half way through the dish, they offered to get us a new one.Latte art is amazing here.Whether you live or visit Melbourne, its a place to visit. Beware that there will be a wait during the peak times on weekends.
We really enjoyed the food and service at Operator25 but the coffee was a let down.We arrived 45mins early for our booking and was told our table was not yet ready, so we decided to order a takeaway coffee while we wait. Unfortunately the coffee was completely tasteless and we were both very disappointed. The coffees for dine in were presented very nicely so Im not sure whether there is a difference in standard between takeaway and dine in, but $5 for a takeaway coffee which essentially tasted like milk was just not worth it.However the food and service was excellent. Once we were seated we were served by a lovely girl named Sai and she was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. We ordered the bulgogi tacos, corn fritters and ube egg waffle and all the meals were well presented and so delicious.Overall it was a positive experience and we would definitely return for the food.
I loved this place. We didnt have to wait for too long. Just 15min.We got a table outside.Food was delicious and not too pricy. Fresh juice $7 and it was big.Staff very friendly and kind.10% surcharge on Sundays.15% surcharge on Public Holidays
Not one of Melbourne’s hyper trendy brunch spots but Operator25 definitely belongs on any ‘best brunch in Melb’ list. The service is on point & the food is excellent - attractive presentation, and quality + taste is awesome.Their speciality, the Biscoff Croffle is a must order. I also really enjoyed the teriyaki mushrooms - a unique & tasty brunch menu item.
Since the beginning of the year I’m trying to have breakfast out every Saturday, I usually have the açai bowl. We went to operator 25 around 9’am and it was really busy, staff was very welcoming and found a table for us, service was quick and I was impressed by how well organised it was. The breakfast itself was really nice and generous. I was left with a full tommy until past lunchtime. My partner enjoyed the eggs on toast and overall it was great value. I do recommend the place, maybe worth to book a table !!
The pork belly burger with sweet potato fries is good. The Korean bulgogi tacos was good, but a bit too salty, and heavy to eat all four tacos. Was quite busy on a Sunday 12:30pm, expect to wait 30-40 minutes before getting food.
Friendly staff and fast service. The Ponzu salmon was delicious. My friend had the bulgolgi taco. Very nice and clean little spot to have a bite for brunch :)
Was sceptical at first but absolutely loved this place. The food was great! Had the char siu Benedict, chilli omelette and the smashed avo. Biggest hit among the drinks was the kaya macha latte but the others were really good as well.
My second time coming here let me just say this time was even better i asked for different things to be cooked on different pans, the salmon was amazing the price was so worth it for an amazing breakfast. If I could add one thing the place could be more comfortable or be warmer by changing the seating and adding some love to the place with more options as well for those who dont eat meat 🌸❤️ customer service experience was good
Great food. Ordered the Char Siu Benedict and the Smashed Avo - and wow did not disappoint! Also got greedy and had some dessert (Ube Waffleafterwards - the presentation is just so beautiful.
We got there during a busy time and was estimated 20 mins wait, having to wait 45 mins was not ideal. Fortunately, it was worth the long wait. One of the tastiest coffees I’ve had in Melbourne, the aromas and flavours were spot on. I thoroughly enjoyed the Balinese pork burger, the pork was tender and juicy and there was plenty of sauce to complement it. Definitely recommend this burger and the sweet potato fries were great too. I’d definitely be coming back and hoping next time there will be a shorter wait.
The food was really above my expectations.Well the coffee is fine but the orange juice was really fresh and juicy. Please choose orange juice instead of iced long black. And the two meals are really delicious and well packaged. Just see the photos I posted. A sunny day with such great food is the only thing I can get happiness now.
