NICE PLACE TO GO

This site houses the Ancient Oranmiyan Staff (Opa Oranmiyan), not that it was moved here but according to the legend of Oranmiyan (one of the Yoruba Legends/Ancestorsthis particular site was where he mounted his staff when he arrived at Ile-Ife.Being a giant (as most of them were thenexplains why the staff is that tall and as time went bye, termites built mounds around it.If you’re a traditionalist, you can go in closer to the staff and offer prayers while offering a token to the worshippers in charge or just go in and say a prayer, however you desire.You also don’t have to be a traditional worshipper to go near the staff, you can touch and snap while at the premises.It’s a beautiful site to visit while in Ife.

Very exciting to see d opa still standing and listening to d Owa Eredunmi narrate d times and life of Oranmiyan as he travels deeply into history.

I love the fact that the site is neatly maintained and there are seasoned and elderly Priests on ground to narrate the story and pass on the tradition.

Nice tourist attraction. Many stories were told, you have to respect their culture and believes, every tribe has its own tales and stories, Yoruba people is not an exception. The stories might look like a fiction, you need not to disrespect it.Its was a visit full of fun and experiences.

An Intresting Tourist attraction

The ambience is nice and the workers from the tourist site are warmly and quite knowledgeable.

This places is a very cool historical site of the Yoruba kingdom. The trees have been preserved for decades. The entire environment looks very natural because of the trees. I think they should have a translator for tourists that dont understand Yoruba.

Well renovated and still carry the historical sacredness

The Oranmiyan staff is located at mopa area in Ile Ife. This is one of heritage site and tourist location in ife.

Some renovations have been done. There are seats for visitors and someone tells the historical background.

I visited and we were told that the man himself turned to statue and hes inside the inner house. They said we need to take permission from the king and do some rituals before we can enter because bees are protecting the place. They said the staff was even bigger than that. I didnt believe any of those tho but it was fun. Visit and hear more.

Its one of the best historical places.

This is an ancient site of Oranmiyan a legendary warrior whose descendants are royal heads of various parts of nigeria such as the Alaafin of Oyo, and some other kings. He is one of the great legend who never died but turned into a memorable antique which till date is consulted and worshipped in Ile-Ife Osun state.

This place is a place where an historical staff, and an altar is and only specific clans can enter. It was told that it is a place where the warrior Oranmiyan stocked his staff. Inside, is strine, if a stranger enters, the strangers will be heavily stung by bees from no where.

Quiet and tranquil. Surrounded by mountain and Forest. Power is an issue, dampens the enthusiasm.

A visit to Ile-Ife is not complete without a visit to Opa Oranmiyan. This is a 5.27m granite obelisk with iron studs dedicated to Oranmiyan. Oranmiyan was the grandson of Oduduwa and a versatile warrior who founded the Benin kingdom of the Eweka dynasty and the Oyo Empire.
