This is a restored pagoda of something that was constructed some hundreds of years ago. This was destroyed during the war and built back only in 1990s (98 maybe?). It’s a simple structure, pagoda built on a single pillar and said to be one of it’s kind in the world. However, it might be underwhelming if you are coming all the way to only see this one pagoda.

This Buddhist temple is within the Ho Chi Ming Mausoleum Complex. The architecture is very unique as the pagoda sits on a single pillar. It’s one of the national symbols of Vietnam. The area is very calm and serene, a contrast to the bustling streets of Hanoi, as here is an oasis of calm amidst old buildings. It’s a great place to escape the heat if you’re in Hanoi during the summer months. It’s also a great place to watch people pray to the Buddha. Come here to experience another side of the city.

Its pretty to see but not amazing. Also because its near the Ho Chi Minh musoleum you have to enter into this heavily guarded military area, where t.shirts (shoulder coveringand masks are a requirement (which I found very weird as its all outside!). I didnt like being in this "military area" and was pleased to be out! Photos arent allowed either.

The pagoda is a historic Buddhist temple in the center of Ba Dinh district. It is truly an interesting place to see: from its story to its architecture. On sunny day, you can take a short break in the nearby stone chairs and enjoy the gentle breeze.

one pillar pagoda, its called because there is only 1 support pole in the middle of the pool, apart from another support for the stairs leading into it. the shape of this temple resembles the shape of a lotus. unfortunately the pond under this temple not filled or overgrown with lotuses. emptiness pool.we didnt go up inside the temple because of the long queue. the ancient feel of this building and the raindrops atmosphere is enough to enjoy this location.

Very much a tourist site. Im not impressed by the structure itself, but I liked the lilies in the pond, and the very amusing pictures on the wall - depicting what might happen to you (as a Buddhistin the next life. Not worth making a trip for, but youre likely to come across it when visiting other sites.

Just behind the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a quaint, tranquil reconstructed Pagoda that also has a small temple behind.Very pretty and peaceful. The temple behind around a courtyard had a couple of altars with offerings, one had huge bouquets of flowers! Probably one of the prettier displays Ive seen in Hanoi!Very worth the 10 minutes to visit!

Built of wood on a single stone pillar, the pagoda is designed to resemble a lotus blossom, the symbol of purity, rising out of a sea of sorrow. One of the last acts of the French before quitting Hanoi in 1954 was to destroy the original One Pillar Pagoda; the structure was rebuilt by the new government.

The temple was built by Emperor Lý Thái Tông, who ruled from 1028 to 1054. According to the court records, Lý Thái Tông was childless and dreamt that he met the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who handed him a baby son while seated on a lotus flower. Lý Thái Tông then married a peasant girl that he had met and she bore him a son. The emperor constructed the temple in gratitude for this in 1049, having been told by a monk named Thiền Tuệ to build the temple, by erecting a pillar in the middle of a lotus pond, similar to the one he saw in the dream.

One-pillar pagoda is also known with other names as Mat pagoda, Dien Huu pagoda or Lien Hoa Dai. According to ancient history, the pagoda was built by King Ly Thai Tong in the winter of 1049. Ly Thai Tong dreamed of seeing Quan Am Buddha meditating on a glowing lotus throne, taking his hand to lead the king on the radio. In the dream, the king set up the pagoda with a architecture like in a dream. From then on, one saw a pagoda with a unique pillar structure, resembling a lotus-like figure rising up the middle of Linh Chieu lake in Thang Long citadel. After erecting the pagoda, King Ly Anh Tong frequented and prayed. Not long after, the Queen gave birth to a handsome Prince. Assuming that the Buddhas merit was given, King Ly allowed the temple to be repaired and erected another temple next to the temple to give thanks.

One Pillar Pagoda is located behind Vietnam Maoselleum and dedicated for the temple one. Its location is actually in the open space garden and lots of people is going there after visiting Maoselleum. They have small stairs to climb up and there is Avalokitesvara with lots of hand in gold colour. After that u can go inside, they have 3 little houses there where u can go inside to see more statues which represents different type of God. Please open your shoes before entering the houses. U can see monks that doing the ritual in the morning and the evening (they read Holy words from Tripitaka). After they finished read it then they will ring the bell by using log of wood in the evening. U can also do prayer here and u can donate the money here. They did not put any charge for the entering fee. U can see lots of travel come here and surround it u can buy drinks or souvenirs or snacks.

The small Pagoda and the area sorrounding it is very beautiful. It is located on the same area where the Ho Chi Minh Tomb is located and there are two entries very separated one from the other. Security guards might take items like lighters from you and keep them in the security control until you get out.

Single Pillar Pagoda made by the late king in Hanoi marks to keep evil out from the city. Temples next to Pagoda is worth visiting. Also there is Communist party museum to be checked by people having that inclination. Overall the place can be avoided if you dont have interest in both of the two things above.

Beautiful place and next to it there is a lady selling fruits. I bought 2 packs of fruits and she gave me 3 extra for free and refused to take any money for it. I was shocked and I wish I can do something to make that lady happy. Kind people still exist. I pray she always be happy and blessed.

Iconic pagoda, interesting to see when in Hanoi, but not mind blowing in any sense. Try to go there when it’s not too sunny as the walk to get there can get though under the sun. Too bad you can’t go further inside the parc to wander around as every alley is closed by a guard.

It is a 1st national treasure in Vietnam. It seems to be the just small Buddhisms architecture, though, many people have been beliving its particulated ability. When anyone else want to get a baby, after bowing on the upstare, stepping down to the ground, and then turning toward right 3times. Finally their dream should be into true.If someone do not have any interesting about earning a baby, and do not like to walk around in hottest summer season, i wont suggest you to visit here.
