On the Pigs Back Cafe Deli - Cafe in Cork, Ireland
Food excellent but slow service. Need more staff.
Good food, friendly staff
I visited the Cafe for the branch, was surprised with interesting salad ideas, tried the pwrfect double-phermented sourdough. Great place for a new exploring
Lovely place but a bit too pricey. My son bought me some Mella"s fudge but it was double the price 😳
Ordered a large amount of cheese from On The Pigs Back at the last minute and they were great at getting it all shipped to us on time. Very good communication and of course the cheese was absolutely delicious!
Lovely ambience, friendly and efficient staff, great breakfast choice (as with lunch menu).... and good coffee. Treat yourself.
Only been here once but the Croque Madame merits a return... phenomenal sandwich; tasty fresh ingredients on good bread at not a bad price... Great lunch spot.
Absolutely appalling "service" actually i cant even describe it as service! I went in today with my 2 year old twins i ordered a coffee to go and a sausage roll for my little boy the woman refused to heat this up for me for take awayVisibly upset little boyTreated so rudely by the 2 staff thereI will not be returningI shop in pigs back in english market every week also will not be returning there either
Wonderful place with great food & friendly staff.
The poached eggs were raw. They were translucent and white inside.I asked for a new set. The second ones came out raw too.I complained and said I would leave them as I had to leave for work. They really couldnt have cared less. They explained that the eggs are suvied and then boiled and that is why they are translucent and white inside.I was discounted 20% for the eggs - 2.38€Horrible experience and very disappointed. This place had a reputation once and its clearly gone downhill.Such a shame as I go to the gym around the corner and would have been great to meet there with my friends after our gym session.I cannot pay 13€ for 2 slices of bacon, half a tomato and 1 slice of toast and coffee. What made it worst was that I was blamed as it wasnt to my liking. I dont know what person likes raw eggs...
A fabulous range on their menu. The staff are very good, friendly and courteous. The speed of service is very good and the menu selection is very well priced. Highly recommended.
Fabulous food! Well worth visiting
Small, quiet and unusual food. Offers an alternative to usual chicken and beef meal options and a range of artisanal food items. Dont let the location confuse, excellent food and great for lunch.
really tasty, well presented, fabulous food. well worth a visit for coffee, brunch, to get some cheese and wine to bring home!
Really enjoyed my experiences here. I ate lunch here one day with my niece and her 10 month old baby. The Bakewell tart was excellent. Another day I had a pork sausage roll, which was absolutely delicious, and purchased some edible souvenirs for the folks back home.
Great place to have a coffee and scone. Nice friendly staff
Nice place, tucked away! But food is always nice and the staff are lovely. I visited with a friend who is hard of hearing, and despite us asking for the music to be turned down as we had been seated near the speaker, for some reason staff kept turning this back up.Communication was needed several times as my friend could not hear me nor the staff due to the music level.Despite this, was a lovely brunch in the sun!
We visited for lunch last Monday and even though they were tight on staff they found us a table quickly . The service was prompt and friendly even though the dining area was full. We both had delicious sandwiches which were fresh and made creatively. We will certainly be back.
On the pigs back is always great. Really high quality ingredients and meals that are balanced and never too heavy! Had the Croque Monsieur and it was excellent! The french toast and rhubarb was great too, the rhubarb was spot on, not too sweet or too tart. Great spot for breakfast or lunch!
We went there for a brunch and I was suprised to see that their menu didnt have vegan options. When we asked the waitress I was informed of three different vegan options and Im delighted we stayed there because our food was really tasty.
Lovely location.. coffee is great!Great ambiance and definitely loved the high sealing barn kind of vibes inside!!
Excellent Cafe with interesting interior and food. For a bite of food, or a cup of coffee, Id highly recommend this place as one of the best eateries in Cork. Attention is paid to the little things, all of which make ones dining experience more memorable. The staff are friendly and of course the food options are always interesting and brimming with flavour.
Excellent quality food with a fabulous menu. Highly recommend
Food is vibrant, innovative, curious, always tasty and well balanced.French Onion Soup - 10/10.Would happily eat whatever that chef is cooking every day of the week if given the chance.
Great food and friendly service ... (shame no Covid cert checks though)
Great taste and location away from the buzz. Minimal options for vegetarians though hence the 4*
One of the best in the cork. Situated in Douglas. famous with locals but once you go, you will stay for long and will visit again. Well maintained and good customer care with plenty of parking. Outside sitting area..there is plenty to enjoy from the menu. When the kitchen is open, the whole industrial area would know they are open😜..thats how delicious the food is..and obviously a little bit expensive as we can understand that comes up with a good quality and quantity☺ maintain social distancing and enjoy a nice meal..
Lovely as always. Cracking sandwich. Croque Madame. Friendly staff and good service.
Fancy Deli, cafe, brunch vibes at the Pigs back in Douglas. We regularly buy cheese from their stand in the English market and were keen to try it out. It’s a bit far to go from city center but they have a lovely spot in what seemed like an open shopping compound. We had a banh mi, the beetroot and goats cheese salad, a macchiato and red velvet cake.A bit on the pricey side for a light lunch/ brunch but the food was super good!
Great experience, and outstanding quality! Lynne and her team were incredibly helpful (and patientwhen I placed a large order for nearly 20 hampers. My company requires shipments to be re-routed via our mailroom, and Lynne kindly packaged each hamper with the appropriate bits, sealed up tight for freshness, and my colleagues are now in picnic heaven (backpack purchased separately).Couldnt recommend On The Pigs Back more :Thank you!
This is the sort of place you want to support. Plenty of mediocre restaurants about, especially the bland chains. Pigs Back is a fantastic addition to our community.
For me service is everything. The lady we dealt with today in your cafe was cold and unwelcoming. She seemed put out to have to even acknowledge me or my friend and when I asked what the food options were she looked bored. Really the wrong personality to have working there. Wont be recommending your place which is a pity because it seems like a lovely spot but like I said bad service is enough to sully an experience and personally I want to eat my food in a pleasant atmosphere.
Wow, just loved this place. A hidden gem in Douglas. I only stopped by for take away coffee. But inside the place was buzzing with brunch and coffee drinkers. Italian food specialists. Cakes, pastas, cakes. Friendly staff and plenty of parking. Got to go back for a taste.
Just had beautiful breakfast! Service was excellent too. I actually had to confirm that the bread was gluten free, it looked too good to be true and was absolutely delicious! Thank you
Amazing selection from the menu and deli counter of amazing fresh and delicious foods, beware the coffee though more often than not it’s burned
Tasty sandwich but grossly over priced at nearly 12 euro.Nice atmosphere but badly organised and cluttered.
Myself and my colleagues decided to stop by for a work lunch. We all thoroughly enjoyed both courses.I had a look at the menu to check for dishes suitable for coeliacs but struggled, especially when gluten wasnt listed as an allergen on their list of allergens.I asked the waitress about options and she listed them out and i found out that the cereals allergen listed includes gluten.I had the hake which was very tasty and the Almond and Raspberry tart was good too.I would definately eat here again.
marvellous charcuterie today. brilliant staff. lovely place and great value. visit when in cork.
The food was good quality fresh and tasty I would have given 5 stars if the staff were happy I get the feeling that they were all unhappy with something. no one smiled and they were all extremely efficient . maybe a management issue? it definitely came across in the service to the customer though. Which is a shame
Warm and friendly atmosphere, nice authentic local food and all kind of french specialities, saucisson, madeleine, crème de marron etc.
Nice decor and atmosphere. Friendly staff. Food is overpriced and portions look big but are actually small just beefed up with leaves..
Great quality food, friendly staff, awesome little deli with some super tasty quiche, Arbutus breads, and one of the finest selections of cakes in the entire city of Cork!
Only just discovered this place due to an exhibition opening. Fantastic space and the food and drink was delicious. Will definitely be back to check it out!
lovely cafe in an unusual setting, inside an industrial estate/retail park this cafe/deli is a gem, beautiful food, friendly service, and local art for sale on the walls, this place is very nice, its not cheap eats but the extra is very worth it and they have a wine licence as well so you can enjoy some with your lunch
This is the second time in 6 months that I have visited with my toddler and had a really bad experience. While the food is good the staff and service are appalling. They clearly have no interest or time for children. I came here at breakfast time with just my toddler earlier this week and there were very few people in the restaurant. We were totally ignored by the two staff who just wanted to have a chat..waited ages to be served...and toddlers don’t like to wat! ended up calling one of the staff and waited ages for a high chair and had to ask each of the two staff separately as I couldn’t carry a high chair and my toddler together in the tight space. When we finished I waited at the take away counter to order food for take away and was again ignored so we eventually just left..had a similar but in fact worse experience when I visited previously with a friend... would NOT recommend for anyone with kids...but maybe we’re not their target market!!
I love this place, the staff are amazingly friendly and efficient and the ranges of coffees and food available is brilliant, something to suite every taste. Yum, looking forward to my next visit!
Great food and tasty coffee (Mahers). Deli has a good selection of fancy stuff with an French/Italian theme. They do a very nice breakfast. One minor negative is that they have arty carved wooden chairs that look stylish but are very uncomfortable to sit on. Also it can be draughty. Just about accessible for wheelchairs, but the door is narrow and there is a lot of produce, chairs and corners to navigate.
Excellent food. Gorgeous variety of cheeses, wine, olive oil, et al. You can also enjoy and buy art, that is hanging on the walls. Host and staff are very kind.Down side, they close early.
Hadnt been here before. Table service but no menu. Not easy to order. We had coffee and dessert which was quite nice. Staff were friendly
You might have encountered their food before. They run a counter in the English Market, Cork and travel the countrys Farmers Markets with their produce (including Middleton, Douglas and Meeting House Square in Dublin). So the food is top quality. Its an unusual location, but if you think of it more as the bakers cafe, it makes sense.Paté worth chomping on and a range of cheeses to make you ignore your doctors advice.
