On Deck in Thunder Bay

Canceled liquor with dinner delivery without notifying me. Charges $19 for a hot dog, because theyre licensed and then doesnt deliver whats ordered. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE BECAUSE THEYRE LICENSED. Theyll deliver you mediocre overpriced food and nothing else.

Visited July 1st weekend... what a great time! Great staff great food!

We had a good time. Atmosphere is fine. Service was quick.

I would tell it is one of the bar where we can go and get cheap beer and enjoy a vibe with lots of people around us.There are some games like foosball, pool and pins.May be because it was a lot of people felt like i was melting with the heat inside the bar.There will a big line up at the counter to buy drinks.So it will be good to buy as many as u can at frst run.Even though i heard some bad stories abt the bar, i had no bad experince..It was good for me.

Steak sandwich = NOT GOOD. Fatty and grisly -- very poor quality.Fries were nice & hot.

The food is pretty decent here although I have noticed it depends on who’s cooking. I love the wings! I used to take my son when he was younger to shoot pool and eat food. He always had a blast and thought it was so cool he was in a “pub”/“bar”.

Its a nice place, the vibe, good beers, theres pool tables, and a super cool music machine (I love that device, you have to try it, the list Its huge).Try one red beer tanker, super iced and refreshing.

Friendly staff good place to bring the kiddos for a quick snack or quick lunch on a adventure day at the marina . Also, a fun place to go for a few in the even with adult friends lol

Solid bar food for everyone + free popcorn with drinks!! Veggie quesadilla is a nice snack when drinking for vegetarians. Nice place to shoot pool and hang out. Theres also a digital jukebox. Very much a "sports bar", but always a solid, casual place to meet up with friends without having to spend a tonne of money.

Attentive wait staff with decent selection of lower to mid priced bottle/can/draft beer and nice lively feel but very earthy atmosphere and clientele 😊

Really enjoyed ending a great night out in ThunderBay at On Deck! We had never been before to TB before and was recommended to check it out from multiple serving staff at surrounding bars. We enjoyed playing multiple games of pool and listening to great tunes. The patrons were friendly and respectful. At first I found the service staff a bit intimidating but as the night went on they were fantastic. Little Jordan was an absolute doll and was very personable. The chicken wings were so damn good as well. Keep up the good work!

They serve most excellent chicken wings and though covid has lost them most of there staff the ones that worked that dai i visited were most excellent two thumbs up to them keep up the good work.

Ordered through skip, they messed up order and only refunded me what the value of missing item, even tho I ordered a meal. Scuzzy move, Its not even including the tax or delievery 🤣 dont be expecting anymore buisness if you cant get a simple order right 🤷‍♂️ Might be good if your there for a night of drinking (Which i dont reccomendordering wise id avoid it. You had almost an hour and still messed up a side of fries 🤣😂 imagine being that bad at taking orders. Oh ya the rest of the food was 4/10 also so theres that aswell

Had a couple hours to kill before my flight out. Ended up at On Deck was not dissapointed. This place has tons of character and that good old dive bar feel. Staff was suoer great and friendly. Had time for a pint and some wings. Beer was cold and fresh and the s&p wings for perfect. If you end up in TBay like I did and need a beer and some wings, this is the place.

It was pretty quiet in there but it took almost 10 minutes to get our drinks. Waited over half hour for our food, which when the waiter came over to see if we wanted more drinks, he mentioned then that our food was taking abit cause someone had placed an order for 6pds of wings. K fine, but then when my food finally arrives it wasnt even correct, and to boot not even a compensation??!! The food is good though for a bar, just maybe when people are ordering let them know that its gonna be awhile if theres a big order.

Been a few years since I lived in TBay, had the opportunity to go back recently and as always the food and service were great. Ill be back for sure!

Great service, minus one server (in a referee uniform)that seems to have forgotten her manners. She would interrupt other servers/bartenders that were in the middle of serving customers and demand whatever she was needing that second ( no please, no thank youShe was also heard complaining loudly about customers to the kitchen staff ( we were sitting a bit away and could hear loud and clear.The rest of the bar staff were friendly and courteous. The younger bartender ( I didnt catch his name 😔went above and beyond with great service and did his due diligence in helping maintain social distancing. We went there twice during our stay and overall it was a good experience. Great food, nice sports bar pub like environment. ( July 24 & 25)

Love having pool tables and dart boards available. Jukebox selection is great. Good beer selection. Nice bar tenders. Nachos are good.

My significant other and I go here once a week to play darts. We usually have some drinks and food. The food is not stellar but is definitely edible and good tasting and quite reasonably priced. We chose this place because they obviously have dart board(pool tables, foosball tables as wellbut it has a nice neighborly vibe. The wait staff are always friendly. Definitely gets my recommendation.... enjoy!!!

Always enjoy the people and the staff. Unpretentious and real. Not a fashion show full of phonies. Food is good, well priced and healthy portions. Beer is well priced and always cold.

Decent Bar. Good for those that are looking to hang out, have some drinks and play pool. Management is not the nicest but the serving staff make up for it

I used to love coming to on deck with my friends and enjoying a drink and a plate if nachos or a poutine. The past few times weve gone its seemed under staffed and almost hostile. Its taken far too long to get drinks and food, sometimes things dont even come. The food is still great and so are the drinks but it cant make up for the lack of service.

Tried this place based on a recommendation and we were more than pleased! The food was awesome! Some of the best onion rings and poutine we’ve had in awhile! The burger and chicken quesadilla were also very tasty. Our waiter was super nice. The place itself had a cool vibe and would probably be a lot of fun on the weekend or with a group. They have pool tables if you play.

From Nova Scotia, but travelling back from Calgary. Food was the best Ive had since leaving Calgary !! Great prices, great atmosphere ! Great food ! Dont listen to the other reviews highly recommend !

Waitresses are either wonderful women who smile and sing Irish drinking songs regaling their adventures or are demanding ID or you need to get out. Its very confusing and many times I am in fear.

A dive bar for sure, so prices are low and the atmosphere is very chill. Free popcorn available, thats a plus. A lot of space inside, a pretty established place for local people to come for a drink. Can get a little crowded, but the main room and the ramp outside let you get some space. Not a super wide selection of drinks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Good place if you want to stay for a while but not break the bank.

Another pub experience that defines Thunder Bay. Can be a pretty rowdy place for bar crawls and downtown events. Area can be sketchy sometimes, but overall, its fun.

Good friendly service. They cant cook a medium hamburger. It was the driest hamburger I have had in a long time. McDonalds quarter pounder was better.

One of the best bars in this city. The food may not be the best, but the atmosphere, the beer and the staff always make up for it. If youre visiting Thunder Bay, this is the best bar to visit.

I went in, sat at a table and no service. So I went to the bar and sat down and waited 15 minutes. Waitress served her regulars looked over at me and went on her business. Thought maybe she was busy, so I waited 15 more minutes. Then got up, walked out and went down the road to The Fastlane Sports Bar and Grill where they greeted me like a human when I walked in. They were more than happy to take my money. I will never go back to On Deck, " should be called "out to lunch".

Nice place...nice food....sometimes the beer is not great. I guess they can improve on that.Usually very friendly staff as well.

On Deck is a very friendly casual place to drink cheap draught. You could probably go there in your pyjamas, housecoat and slippers and nobody would blink and eye because they are watching one of many giant T.V.s. The food there is whipped up in no time by there chef extrodinaire Terry. Food is great, portions are huge and prices are really fair. The serving staff are always pleasant and keen. The management swiftly takes care of any people who become a problem. It has been open for over 20 years and in this economy that speaks for itself.

Hi,Great place for cheap beer and diner food. Most of the pool sticks are not in good shape and one table has trouble releasing the white cue ball. Most of the servers i met were good people. Although, i had a bad experience with the manager. I usually go on deck with a group of friends to play pool. I went during the day and approached the bartender and asked to exchange a loonie for quarters. she said she couldnt and that we would have to buy something first. I asked a man next to me for change when another man jumped in between all of us and asked what was going; which i let him know. He told us we "cant be bugging customers." when i told him we just wanted change he said he was the manager and we had to leave. It was very unpleasant and humiliating being kicked out and and it was a horrible first impression for my friend who had never been there. It would have been much more reassuring if he just opened the till but he was impatient and was not in a good mood to figure out a solution. He could of at least held a conversation a little longer rather than a my way or the highway approach.

Some people like fancy fixtures and new decor. Sports teams love this place because the beer is inexpensive, the wings and other food are great, and the owner supports local teams! And there are pool tables, darts, Foose ball, a juke box, and free popcorn.

A very rude owner and management staff. Server staff was ok. Second time it happened that I was denied a non-alcoholic beverage (coffeeby the server upon receiving instructions by the manager. Similar experience was shared by my friend who is a born and raised Thunder Bay resident and his friend was denied service early in the evening when their group came in for wings. The entire group refused to stay due to the insulting and discriminatory behaviour against their friend by the owner. Awefull to see such a behaviour in this day and age and so close to Christmas. Never going back.

Oh the dank... but its good dank.This has been the university student haunt forever and also many others. I love how all the tables have engravings on them by various patrons over the years... and the fun is seeing if you can find something you wrote on it years ago.

the worst restaurant/bar ever service is terrible and slow. Waited @ a table for service then went to the bar and waited 45 minutes for a beer. During my wait in line i ask a waitress how long does it take to get a beer here.? she replied by yelling to her staff that this customer has a problem, made a huge scene out of nothing... and this is why i am writing this review. servers need new training or fire them no customer appreciation. place was dirty, and slow, i can only imagine how dirty the kitchen is???dont waist your money there @ ON DECK if they dont want your money go somewhere that appreciates your business......

Chill joint, have a beer watch the game. Drown your sorrows or celebrate victory wth a few rounds of tippy cup. This is one of my fav haunts. The food is decent, good even for pub fare. So sit, relax carve your name into the table and have a good time.
