Olympus National Park Information Center - Museum in Katerini, Greece
Where the god exists
The guy was very informative but there were no maps to take or even look at
Very helpful, friendly and nice stuff in the center. Go there for recommendations if youre not sure about the roads, hiking trails, etc. Didnt have time to check the exhibition, so next time.
Terrible atitude. No real trip suggestion or information. Kust go up the route, there are many places.
Nice display and helpful
No maps
Friendly and polite staff. He asked us how much time we had and what we would like to see/do and gave us perfect instructions
Not much viewpoints, roads were bit challenging with a van.
Beautiful
Nice museum and friendly staff.
Its like watching a documentary about the magical place that is Olympus, except it isnt. Instead, its a series of information presented through very technologically impressive media. A great place to visit if youre keen on learning more, even if it doesnt look like that on the outside. Definitely worth a visit.
This is a museum of Olympus. It devoted to the flora and fauna of Olympus mountain and the history of climbing on it. Shame its not marked properly, we stumbled upon it by accident. The entry is free.
Very Helpfull Service & Info.
Very nice exhibition. Stunning photos and lots of info.
Nice. Lacks storytelling . Kind staff.
Very good place with specialist who knows answers to everything and has recommendations for groups in different levels. Interesting exhibition, superb
Very informative. Spacious building with excellent photography and explanation of mountains, plants and living creatures in this area. Also incorporated mythology. A 3D video was also shown that encapsulated this wondrous area. There was no charge and so we’ll worth the time, very educational.
It could be modernized a bit, but very well put together.
Nice exhibition (upstairs!)Friendly personnel.
Get the information you need to hike all the way to Olympus summits. Also has an interesting exhibition on the mountain
Very nice and helpful staff, gave us all the needed information
Nice exhibition about the park, but nothing is sold at the center - no maps, no guides, no bar.
If you are around mount olympus you should stop by. They have a galery with images where you can see all plants, animal and sights without actualy hiking. If you plan to hike they can also guide you on which are the best trails and objectives considering your available time.
A little bit oldish looking building, but it has a recently assembled exhibition inside about Mount Olympus with free entry. You can learn about the said mountain here (about its fauna, how it came into existence, the mithology surrounding it, etc.).Worth a look.
First, the place looks deserted and run down, at least from the outside. But our main problem was the information itself... The office had no maps/brochures to hand out, and the ones they allowed us to take pictures of was awful and uninformative.Worst than that, the lady who "helped" us, directed us to a bad trail, hot and boring (the lower part of the canyon). We wanted to have a nice one-day trek, and instead of insisting the upper part is much nicer, easier, cooler and unique, she said "the canyon is the same anyway". Not!!Only the following day, when we went to the tourist info in town, we got good maps (plus a tip there are even better, professional ones at the opposite shop - why couldnt the national park office say that?and excellent advise - and this is not even their job!Bottom line: avoid this place if you can.
Huge building. On edge of town. The road that takes you up Mount Olympus. Great layout inside. Big display Greek and English. Unfortunately the sign to the building is inside the tall steel gates. One side of the gate was open. Could not tell if there was a name on the gate. The gentlemen on duty said that path to the 1st rest stop was on the road path. Lack of communication I was told by other walkers there was a path thru the forest and caves. That would have been nice as it was 34 Celsius.
It is a famous place whish must to visit anyone. There is a museum which to can learn everything for the mountain. The people who working there are hospitable and kind.
In the Olympus National Park Information Center the photos and videos are amazing and pretty interesting. A family can visit this Museum or even team of students.
I loved this place. Personally Id recommend visiting here before you visit mount Olympus to contextualize the mountain and its history. Thoroughly recommend it.
Could have been so much better basically a large car park and a big building with not much there
Ive traveled a lot and I can easily say that this is my favorite park in the entire world. It has amazing views, pretty good restaurants, shops filled with interesting goodies and a huge fountain/lake/thingyou must visit it at least once I your life
Definitely start your Olympus experience with a visit to this information center. Reservations needed.
Nice stop that has great information on the area also a nice exhibition spread over a few floors with a lot of information. So not just an info centre with maps, well worth the stop.
The place to start your hiking in the Olympus Mt. Kids learn a lot.
Amazing nature
All were very helpful in providing us information of where we wanted to go. They also had a nice museum of the natural and human history of the mountain.
Great displays on the history, culture and biology of Mt Olympus.
Came in to get some help on choosing the right path for a rainy day. They helped us with that plus showed us the wonderful exhibit of the mountain which contains info about the history, wild life and pictures from all over the mountain
A must see before or after visiting Olympus. Great information
Very nice and pleasant people are working there. Ready to help and answer all the questions. So pretty happy about everything. Hill views are just amazing so definately worth to see it.
Excellent service, informative guide and free information pack.
From the outside its not exactly welcoming, but I think the landscaping and exterior design are still a work in progress. The interior, however, is very nice, with helful information about what you can see on the mountain. The staff was also helpful and answered all our questions. The exhibition is wheelchair accessible, which is a big plus.
The place has incredible images of the mount, people are always aware to help you and explain you everything of the National Park. The museum is a short view of the fauna, Flora and Landscapes you will find during your time in Mount Olympus National Park. It is free and on the way to start the journey to Prionia Refuge.
Very informative, good facilities and beautiful exhibition. The mountain patrol officers are very helpful. The exhibition learns you about the lowest slopes until the highest peaks of Mount Olympus. Absolutely worth a visit.
Great information available. Lovely free museum with interesting information of the area.
Unfortunalety I could not climp the summit Because of fysical problems. Kalispera, The Silent one (Belgium).
Very informative...great place to visit and get info on the amazing surrounding areas
It was a rainy winter day when we went. The ranger there was very friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us advice on how we could see some of the mountain even though the road might not be open due to snow. There is an excellent exhibit in the info center that had information on the geology, history, flora, fauna, and mythology of Mount Olympus. I definitely recommend stopping in if you are in Litochoro, even if you are not planning to do much on the mountain.
Exceptional personnel, very nice presentation,do go before you head to the mountain!!!!!!
What a wonderful introduction to Mt Olympus. Helpful staff. Do not miss the exquisite exhibition. It starts with a short 3D film which takes you to the heights! The modern photo and text exhibition one of the best I have seen.
