Olivello in Middlesbrough

Just been for my birthday meal with my family was 13 of us, most of us had the chicken parmo meal and Sunday chicken roast we all really enjoyed the food too much too eat so brought the rest home, service was good would definitely recommend xx

This restaurant is amazing, food is delicious and the staff are super friendly and will do their best to make your experience super special. they really went above and beyond for me and my wife. Could not recommend this place more.

Halloumi was delicious however the wait for the mains after this was over an hour. Parmesan was slightly burnt and a bit bland. Chips were okay. Been before and got a burger and it was absolutely fine which is why we went back. The owner offered us free top ups on our drinks or I assume he meant that so he did try and make amends for the wait. Will try again as I think it was just busy and possibly short staffed in the kitchen.

Beautiful restaurant. Friendly staff and the food is amazing. We have been twice as a family and the waitress remembered us from last time. The portions are more than enough and the quality of the food is just fantastic.

We booked a table for 13 adults to celebrate my birthday. The booking was for 8 pm but we didnt get our starters untill nine. The manager apologized for the delay because they were busy and gave us a bottle of prosecco. This was a nice gesture but didnt go far for 13 people. The mains took around 45 minutes to come si it was almost ten pm . I had ordered a fillet steak with prawns requested medium rare. They brought me a sirloin steak which was well cooked and dry. They did offer to take it away and make me the fillet steak but buy this time I just wanted to eat so said I would have the sirloin. Everyone else enjoyed their meals so 10 out of 11 isnt bad. The place was busy but it is not good enough to leave a table which had pre booked to serve walk ins first. I wouldnt go back with a large group again but will try it in a small group and see how they do. Staff were all friendly and efficient and the venue was clean and well presented.

Booked a celebratory meal for my girlfriends graduation, 9 of us in total, staff were very friendly and helpful. Cocktails were made incorrectly however looked very appealing and tasted just okay, mojito was clearly made with a lot of packaged lime juice as well as the standard muddled limes for example. The tables starters where all good and went down really well. However were a bit of a let down. 1 hour and 18 minutes after we arrived at the venue we got our food, unfortunately, the 2 fillet steaks asked for medium rare come and where closer to medium well. She offered to get us 2 new steaks to which we agreed and where initially told we would have to wait 5 minutes, this wasn’t an issue and we were happy to wait 5-10 minutes for the steak to be cooked to our liking. Unfortunately 10 minutes later we were told it would be another 10 minutes and we were offered a free drink each. Unfortunately the cocktails we got where substandard, and most of the table had finished eating, we waited 35 minutes in total for the new steaks, this is backed up by time stamped photos, the steak again was over cooked however we didn’t have want to wait any longer for our food. The food tasted good and the front of house staff did what they could but ultimately we paid full price for everything and 2 of us started eating after other plates had been cleared. I wouldn’t rush back unfortunately

Amazing options for gluten free. I would go as far as to say nicest gluten free food In Teesside. However Im waiting on a gluten free parmo on the menu 😂Great service and caters for gluten intolerance and celiac.

I visited Olivellos today with my colleagues to celebrate the teams one year anniversary.The decor very nice,Service initially was OK,Food terrible!!!!!As we do when asked if everything is ok at the start of the meal, all nodded politely, after a few minuets it was clear none of us where enjoying the meal. The main issue with all the dishes was the chicken, it looked like chopped reformed prepacked chicken. Very bland. 4 out of the 5 of us left at least half of our meals. The server asked was everything ok, we politely said there was an issue with the chicken. The server at this point was very unhelpful/rude, We asked to speak to the manager, a man came to the table and told us there can not be anything wrong with our meals as we did not tell them straight away he shouted very loud that he thinks we have eaten the food and now dont want to pay, 4 out of the 5 meals he could see had not been eaten, he went on to compare the chicken served in Olivello to other restaurants in Middlesbrough and continued to tell us we can not make such comments at the end of a meal.We pointed out that we just wanted to make them aware that the chicken was not great and maybe he could let the chef know this.By the end of the discussion he offered us a discount that was 20% when the bill arrived however this was not the point, in the service industry id expect a much better level of service a simple apology and maybe the offer of a drink or desert would have been declined but a nice gesture instead we where shouted at and made to feel as if we didnt want to pay our bill!!!!! Not good Olivello, the food was less than average and the service even worse!!!!!! This is one restaurants we will not visit again.

I got chicken Fajitas which tasted of nothing but salt, after half of it I gave up and the people I was with let me try parts of theirs. Pizza seems pretty solid, parmo was decent (although these too tasted quite salty). The pasta was awful, another member of our group didnt come close to finishing their meal either because the pasta was hard.One last note on the Fajitas, it seems illilogical to bring that out last when it needs preparation when everyone else can start as soon as food arrivesThis meant people were waiting around for me at the end because I wasnt done yet.

Food was really good. Tasty perfect portionsOnly thing we were seated near the bar so naturally I watched the drinks getting made.I didnt like the fact they were just eyeballing spirits. And the fact the daiquiri on the menu said absolut vodka and it was Glens or something similar they used.

Looks the part, staff rude, food is little more than pizza shop take away quality. We have it one more chance and won’t be back. There are better place to spend your money.

Great staff and great food only thing to be careful about is if your ordering off the special happy hour menu should point out to you when ordering a parmo that if you ask for a hot shot you will pay full price off the main menu which is about £5 more so bit of a shock at the end when you have ordered 3 so a extra £15 for a few bits of pepperoni and chillis

Firstly, couldnt fault the staff, very friendly and helpful. Lovely surroundings too. The service though was extremely slow, even though the restaurant nowhere near full capacity. It took almost an hour between starter and main courses. Our calzone was over baked and hard, and no amount of sauce could soften that, and there was an ingredient missing from another dish. The three star review is for the staff. We are most unlikely to return.

we went for our grandsons birthday, 17 of us, food was being served within half an hour, food was great and hot, no complaints from anyone, will go again and I recommend it.

Went to celebrate what would have been my dads 87th birthday who we lost due to COVID the staff were so nice mam was given a glass of prosecco as we all toasted a wonderful man . The meal was well worth the visit big portions of delicious pasta everybody enjoyed the food . Good service couldnt do enough for us definitely will be returning

Came here with a friend. We had late lunch and a cheeky cocktail. I had a vegetarian parmo never tried the vegetarian version but was very pleased with it and my friend had Lasagne which she gave me a taste of, that was delicious too. We had some sort of sliced roasted orange drink garnish in the cocktail not sure if suppose to eat that but it was yummy! So I ate my friends too! Great service and delicious food!

Went here for my son in laws birthday...Fab food,,,friendly staff,,,very busy but its what you can expect at a fantastic restaurant....highly recommended.

Visited here for the first time, and was pleasantly surprised how good the food was and what a good choice there was, only criticism was we were in the cocktail lounge and the noise level was horrendous, we couldnt even hear each other speak, also we were all squashed on small tables in front of the bar

Excellent restaurant for gluten free, almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free. Cocktails are amazing too! Lovely night. The staff are great, so lovely and very attentive. Definitely one of my favourite gluten free restaurants!

Greeted instantly by the owner, very welcoming and friendly. We were offered the choice of seats which I always find very comforting. The decor is modern yet quaint, very beautifully done. We were served promptly with no sacrifice on quality to the food. Everything was beautiful and tasty. The staff were extremely clean and professional throughout. Very friendly staff and good prices too. Will definitely be returning.

A group of six elderlys we were originally placed in the middle of the room. I had commented as we entered, that I thought it would be quieter on a Wednesday evening. One of the staff approached us just as we had got seated & asked would we like to be moved to a quieter area. Yes please we said & were shown to a nice table out of the main area. How nice someone had given us that consideration! Service was great & food was lovely. Well definitely be back!

Food was good, a typical Italian but I dont mean any offence by that. Food came so fast & was hot. Only downside it was so so loud we couldnt hear each other speak, but thats not the restaurant fault its the table of 12 who were shouting over each other for attention.

Two of us had the Happy Hour meal here. For £28 with one drink, it was OK for price. However, the pasta sauce was runny, very thin and the sauce on the chicken dish tasted like tomatoes out of a can.Not impressed and for us 6/10.There are better places to go.The service though was excellent as was the cleaning of tables and chairs after diners left.

Food was nice and there is a large choice on the menu of food and drink The restaurant itself was clean and inviting. We were sat near the entrance to the restaurant which opens up onto an outside seating area. This allows a pleasant breeze and open atmosphere.We were a group of 6, so not a huge group, and unfortunately our starters took half an hour to come. Although the restaurant was busy I think we were forgotten about as everyone who sat down around us, even after we had ordered received their food before us.It was no different with the mains which also took a long time to come after our starters had finished. We would have had desserts but couldnt bear the long wait.

Staff were great even though busy. Service was a little slow, however restaurant was busy.Food was delicious and large portions, ordered from the happy hour menu. Starters were just nice and came out quite quickly, mains were a bit of a delay.Kids enjoyed the spaghetti Bolognese, kids ice-cream were nice touch as well.Will be back.

Have been watching this getting built up and it looking lovely thought Id have a look at the menus. Food options look lovely, plenty of variety but not too much!Love the fact it has a bar area too as we didnt want proper meals so it felt more casual.Cocktails were lovely- and strong!Food was lovely, staff friendly and even got a happy birthday song.With the cocktail offer on it made prices very reasonable.Will definitely visit again.
