Olimpos Antik Kenti - Local history museum in Kemer, Turkey
Overrated historic site. A yes-yes place for beach lovers, but a no-no place for ruin hunters.P/S: the beach is not part of the historical site and is accessible from the other side.
You have to pay to go here and they block the way to the beach so if you come here and you just want to walk to the beach you have to pay 90 tl per person.
Very beautiful place. It is great that you can just walk everywhere, everything is available, beautiful nature is all around. We were in October and came close to the evening, we didnt have to but tickets as it was late I guess. There were not many people. You can not only walk in the bottom part but also climb mountain and see wonderful landscapes from top. You can feed ducks, fish and tortles in the river on entrance near the sea. Be ready to walk rather far to get here. Not sure if there is other entrance but we got here or through the mountains or from the beach.
if you want to go to the beach, you have to go through the open-air museum and pay the ticket (although it is part of the Lycian Way).. if you are staying longer or you are a group then I recommend the 10-entry ticket (aprox 270 lira).. nice vibe and the beach at the end is gorgeous.. at night, even though its officially closed, you can easily pass through gates
Clean and beatyful beach with a cave near the rocks. You can swim into the cave which has also some ruins. There are a few restaurants and markets nearby.
You get a lot of ruin for your Lira when you visit Olympos. The ruins seem to go on deep into the woodlands that surround either side of the picturesque valley, adding a mysterious and ancient mood to the place. The information boards are sparse but very interesting to read.Areas that could be improved are unearthing more of the ruins buried deep beneath soil, trees and collapsed rock, as well as making some of the side paths a little easier to traverse on foot.
The ancient city of Olympos is located in the village of Cirali. The easiest way to get there is by car, but you can also take a bus. From Antalya there is an express bus to Kumluca. Movement interval 20 minutes. You can also sit in Kemer, at the bus stop under the D400 bridge, because the bus descends from the highway. The fare from Kemer costs 30 lire. You need to get off at the intersection with the highway to Cirali. There will be a local mini shuttle stop. Traffic interval 1 hour, time from 08-00 to 19-00, fare 26 lire. The descent goes along a mountain serpentine, 14 km long. The driver announces the Olympos stop, but it is better to ask in advance. From the stop you need to move to the right towards the beach and mountains. The entrance will be at the end of the beach next to a small pond. Entrance fee 90 lire. The city has a lot of buildings that have been preserved in good condition. Nearby there is a beautiful sandy beach where turtles lay their eggs. 4 km near Cirali, there is the famous mountain Yarantash with the lights of the chimera. Entrance costs 40 lire. All this can be seen in one day.
Olympos Ancient City is one of the most beautiful ancient cities in the world, located on both sides of a river that extends to the beach. Rather than being a museum where you watch the historical ruins from afar, it is a living ancient city where you wander through the streets within a forest. This special situation of the ancient city makes you feel like a visitor to the past times of this thousands of years old city, or explorers from the Indiana Jones movies. Where the ancient city ends, Olympos-Çıralı beach begins in all its glory which is a great place to end your adventure of discovery. The settlement of Olympos Ancient City includes architectural remains of three different periods starting from 300 BC:Hellenistic PeriodRoman periodByzantine PeriodEntrance to Olympos Ancient City is only possible with MuseumPass or 1-10 pass cards. These cards can be bought from main gate of ancient city. The gate has opening/closing times. For the summer of 2022, it opens at 6:45 AM and closes at 8 PM (times may change in other seasons).
Nice ruins surrounded by stunning mountains and sea.You only need 20 minutes to see the ruins and then you are on the beach. We only stayed at the beach for 20 mins but water was clear and clean.
Unique ruin next to the sea. You walk through the ruins and it ends up at the beach. A lot to see and explore inside.
Hello everybody who interesting in real camping with live nature, finally i got the place called Olimpos Antik village, real impressive old stones wall and rooms. Especially mention the sea..so warm and lovely place to swim, sun.. with family or with friends. If you re alone.. no problem..you will find the friends there, cause there are many people from different countries that came to relax and to sense the nature of Olympos Village.
Amazing place to visit and in just a couple of minutes walking distance you can join the beach
This is a must see. It is also used as a gateway between the hotel areas (suggested for young/partying crowdand the beach, along with Cirali Village. Get your museum card for unlimited entry in to Turkish museums.
This needs renovated ASAP. Bigger than Machu Pichu but not taken care of enough. I love this but really needs more care. This is as big as Machu Pichu but not taken care of.
This is one of the best place i visit u can visit the ancient city and then inside that city u can walk to the beach. İt has amazing view
Wow effect assured, highly recommend - its combination of the ancient city and beach where you have warm sea and cold river waters next to each other.
Lovely place to walk before hitting the beach however quite dirty. Removed various items from the sea including plastic and a tampon. Shame that most places in turkey are not maintained to a clean standard despite Thier beauty. Visited predominantly by Turkish nationals when I visited
Nice place but if you like to visit and discover historial ruins can be a place for you. If you have an idea of visiting a historical area and than swimming can be good choice. After crossing the historical ruins you arrive to sea. Has a long beach.
The city is notably destroyed.Frankly speaking theres nothing to look at, comparing to other Antalian ancient cities.
This is a fun adventure and not like a usual ancient city which often has a huge carpark st the entrance. We entered from Çıralı, via Olympos Beach so it’s a very short walk across the old creek, along the beach and to the boardwalk to the ticket office. The ruins can include a walk through the bush which adds to the adventure and some wildlife. We saw several turtles and tortoises. I highly recommend the museum card and pass which includes entry to Olympos.
Magnificent place but the worst part is you can’t stay at the beach at night because of the regulation. Despite you can visit with 20 bags of trash in the morning without any problem but after 8 pm it’s illegal to stay. Pandemic rules never reverted
An aincent place you would love it60Tl ticket 🎟 price
Interesting place and beautiful, I recommend
A dreamy ancient city located under the trees and near the river. 🌿🌀🧡
The ancient citys ruins were tremendous. They are spread out from the top of the mountains to way back. They are on two different hills which has a wide revine with a stream of water passing through all the way into the sea. There was a bridge joining both sides of city over wide stream. The local government has maintained the atmosphere of the ruins very authentically. The beach the city is on is in the shape of a beautiful arc with lovely clear Mediterranean waters. It is a 300 B.C Roman city.
Amazing historical place. We walked the trail from Çirali, its not signposted but its easy to locate with the locals help. Beware thou that you do have to climb up/down a precarious looking ladder but its safe enough. Theres amazing trails around the historical site. We didnt pay to enter although we did enter from the beach. I would say to see everything (even the areas a little off the beaten trackwould take over 3/4 hours. Probably a good idea to take a picnic.
Nice ancient stone place with beautiful flower and grass near beach
Ancient city looks like any other ancient city in this region (pardon historians), but it’s nice to check it out on your way to the beach. I highly recommend to also explore the beach and go to the other end of the beach along the coast. There’s a magical place between the coast and island/tinny hill. We watched our sunset there! Remarkable place <3
Fantastic. Reminiscent of an Indiana Jones movie with all the jungle shrouded ruins. Theres a theatre, bath complex, loads of tombs, temple facades and more. And apart from the strangely lush vegetation covering much of the site, you follow a river through it to a beautiful beach. Perfect.
Beach was wonderful in September. We came here each summer months but this year September weather and water was awesome.
An ideal place to get away from civilization and have a rest among beautiful nature. You can live either in a tent, a treehouse or a bungalow. To access beach you have to go through ancient ruins, which means pay for entrance, but the price is not high. I would say that this village is more for those who likes staying in the mountains, for beach vacation I would recommend Çiralı.
Beautiful ancient ruines, going through them you find yourself at a beach. Take a swimming suit
Don’t be surprised, this place is both ancient city ruins and passage for the beach who stay at the tree houses in Yazir village. Olympus is the one of the most important cities in the Lycian confederation, which inspired the US Constitution and EU.
Good historical area 🏰- But not so many ruins left.- There are still archeological works around.- There is parking for 10 liras.- Entrance is 40 liras.- Restrooms are only where the main entrance.- Take your swimsuit with you, there is a nice beach 🏖
Just an amazing sight, you should at least delegate 1 day to explore it. Such history, your imagination will go wild:)Its better to come by beach entrance, if you are staying or wanna stay in Ciriry ( might wrong spelled itvillage.Dont niglect the warm and cristal clear water you have on that Beach, one of the best beaches we wisited in Turkey
Gorgeous. Gorgeous abd more gorgeous. A lot to look at and enjoy. Ancient city, sea, in a hot mediterranean day...what else to look for?
A heaven in Turkey, beautiful cold water and also nice atmosphere with a lot of old temples. Native citizens are coming for a relaxing weekend and it gets really crowded but it’s also one of the coziest time. The ruins are not maintained at all, which is a shame, it would be better if they could spend more time building it up again. It would be much and much better.
There is no such place in anywhere else in the world! The small bed and breakfasts are so cozy and reasonably priced. The beach is amazing. The ancient Greek ruins leave you in marvel. Watching the stars at night is something remarkable. Anyone who comes to this region should explore Olympis thoroughly.
Great peaceful place where u can get authentic turkish experience. Turkish live music few times a week, delicious home cooked dinners, mountain views and peaceful mornings. And almost Forgot to mention Gorgeous swimming pool they have!
Oh the ruins of Olympus. The vibe, the young crowd with so much energy. The swim to the cave and back, the sea turtles milling about off shore. Wow...go in search of the eternal flame 40 or so minutes from the site......
Free to roam and explore at will. Some signage as to what used to be where, the rest is imagination. Great for kids, can park very close. Entry fee not high. Can swim at the beach at Olympos while you are there, and even rinse off the salt in the fresh water stream on the way back. Wonderful place.
OLYMPOS antic village offer a unique way to descorving a beach . Before to arrive you have to pass buy this beautiful old Greek city . You feel like you back in to the past. The ticket is 20 lira and you also can buy a pass if you spend some more days in Olympos, also a year pass is very cheap.Me I actually like the cross the little wood bridge to see the other side, is so beautiful and more natural I like it more. When you arrive the beach is also very beautiful. I really recommend to visit this place for all the lovers of antique places .
Very good place if you like to explore antique stuff and in love with history. For me it was amazing because of climbing to places. Also it is possible to go for free(fee is 20 lirasfrom the nearest mountain from the Çıralı . But it is very hard climbing part( for ones who are really crazy!)
Just get lost in forest and see all the ruins and end up in the beach. I strongly recommend to climb the hill where old fortress was and see the beach from the top. (Might be dangerous so professional climbers only)
Absolutely beautiful place, one of my favorite ruins to visit in Antalya. Make sure to visit the nearby site of yanartaş (burning rockwhere fire has been seeping out of the mountainside for millenia!
Both the site and the sea at the end of the path are amazing.the site is in a beautiful nature, you never feel tired while walking all the way down.after sightseeing you can rest by the clear sea. Dont miss this place if you are around.
This site was as expected historically informative and despite popularity, ablutions kept pretty clean. Lots of restaurants. Parking lot available and it is better to park in there since you dont have too far too walk to the beach. Remember sunblock, hat and comfy shoes if you planning to walk up the mountain.
Great place and lots of ruins to see. You feel like being in an epic adventure through an ancient city
O dear...This point is all around the worlds meeting point. You must stay Kadirs Tree house in Olimpos. He is one of the famous guy of Olimpos you must meet with him. All the best...
May2017 , plenty of places to stay. The beach is beautiful. The hikes are alright. The ruins are plenty. Seems like a perfect spot for family vacation.
