Oberdorfstrasse 7, 8001 Zürich, Switzerland, Bad Säckingen
On a bustling cobblestone street, this informal hostel is a 3-minute walk from the nearest tram stop, a 10-minute walk from Lindenhof hill with outdoor chess boards and city views, and an 18-minute walk from the Swiss National Museum.Unfussy mixed-gender or female-only dorms feature free Wi-Fi and bunk beds, plus lockers and charging stations. Linens are provided, and bathrooms are shared. Private rooms add TVs; some have seating areas.Breakfast is included. There's a guest kitchen with a microwave and a fridge, plus a cafe with a bar.
the entire building smelled like sewage. Most disgusting and expensive hostel Ive ever stayed at.
Very low value for money, the "free breakfast" was just toasts and jam every day, bathrooms were not very clean, keep in mind that theres no stove in the kitchen. There was a water leak when I was staying there. The location is nice though
Stayed 2 nights end of october. It is a hostel in an old building but at least they have lift. They provide towel/shower gel & shampoo. They have a common area where you can sit to mingle and have your meal. They have basic kitchen with kettle, microwave, fridge but no stove. So you cant cook here. They also provide locker space for you to temporarily store your luggage after youve checked out. My doubledecker bed is metal made so squeking noise is normal with acceptable bed condition. They have fridge in room so you can put ur drinks. It is indeed can be quite noisy and disturbing with the noise coming from the bar downstairs and people walking especially on weekend. This is among the cheapest option i have at that time but compared to another estbalished hostel in wollishofen area, i would give credit to this one for its location. 5mins walk to nearest train station which is only 1 stop away from main station. Or on a nice weather you can just walk to the city centre or enjoying a strol or boat ride at the nearby lake zurich.
Theres lots of mixed reviews here primarily because this hostel is a mixed bag. It best be described as a party hostel in the loudest part of town. The place was "cleaned" daily at nearly exactly 10AM (whether or not you were awakeand overall service was ok, they are maintaining what they have but its not great. For reference, I will describe what is offered. When reception is closed you may self check-in with a machine at the door using a code that was emailed to you, when entering youre met with a dark dingy concrete stairwell circling up that for some reason always smelled like cigarettes. Going higher youll hear an echo and shouting from various rooms with their doors open reverberating in the concrete stairwell. The entire place is dimly lit with dark walls and limited lighting. Once you get to your floor youll smell the bathroom (both sewage and shower smells), and find the room well marked. The rooms was fine. Wooden luggage lockers, outlets galore, vanity sink, mini-fridge, big windows that let in all the light from the neighboring building, and wall mounted fans. Youll immediately hear the incredible amount of street noise from not only the bars and clubs, but the residence across the street that was throwing a wild party till about 4AM. The beds have a pad that isnt cleaned or washed, but you are given a zip up sheet that incases the mattress. No one used it as intended, preferring it as a blanket. This was probably the loudest hostel Ive ever stayed in, all coming from outside. The showers arent cleaned, theres all sorts of fluids on the walls that was there the entire stay. The baskets and shelves are full of other peoples stuff leaving no room for any of your personal items. The "cleaners" for the room simply come in to take out the trash and remove the old sheets and place folded clean sheets on the new bed. Maybe sweep as well if needed. Nothing else is wiped down or cleaned up.I stayed for several days and it was far from my worst hostel experience, it was acceptable. No bed bugs, fans, mini-fridge, good people in the room, big storage lockers. Too bad theyre the only hostel near the center as Id prefer a different place if given the choice.
Its a very simple hostel in an old building, not a lot of facilities. The location is very good. ++I wish it had male-only rooms because I was in the mixed room with girls and it felt weird that there was no place to change clothes - the bathroom is tiny and the mixed showers also dont give you enough space to get dressed - if you bring your things in, they get wet. -They can do your laundry for 15 francs.Near a train station to the airport. ++It can get hot in the room.Large lockers ++They provide a simple coffee/tea and toast breakfast. +Overall an ok hostel. Ive definitely stayed in better ones in terms of facilities/infrastructure, so theres definitely room for improvement.
If you want to catch a disease then stay here.No cleaners ever seen even thought the staff advised they have cleaners, I never seen them and the stain the sink in the room was there during my entire stay.Towels never changed, bed linen given to you to put it on yourself.Worst service hostel, dirty rooms, no cleaners and definitely expect to catch something if you were to stay, I wouldnt even give it a 1 star rating
Good location and free breakfast. Showers and toilets shared with other rooms on floor. Very hot in summer, no AC, just one fan.I have been in many hostels so I expected little bit more for its price.
Stayed here for 3 nights during the Zurich parade, loved our stay, fantastic hosts, couldnt have been more helpful, would highly recommend 10/10
The hostel is clean with good location. I forgot my belongings at the hostel, they are able to find the lost items and send it oversea at this busy time. Really appriciate their effort and would recommand them to anyone who is visiting Zurich.
No bedbugs 😂 Clean, nice good showers. Massive lockers to keep your luggage. Plenty of amazing people come and go. Great location. Friendly and interesting staff. Owner is a really cool easy going dude who owns a music label. I stayed 2 weeks and was sad to leave. Recommend 100%
Very central location, rooms are average at best, complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms and toilets are shared.
Asia + Europe = 25 countries and countingHave stayed in many Hostels around the world: from India to Sweden, from Indonesia to Croatia - This is BY FAR THE WORST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. TO BE ABSOLUTELY AVOIDED
great location, in the old town! free breakfast and coffee/tea....there seems to be bedbugs there unfortunately as I had loads of bites the next day! Nice bar downstairs where the locals go! Nice cocktails!
Best hostel ever! Amazing location, bright and comfortable rooms. Free coffee and simple breakfast, and towels and linen are included. Staff were chill and friendly. Lockers to leave your belongings after you check-out. Loved it!
Terrible experience.Rooms are small and crowded, bathrooms are small and the beds are of horrible quality. And worst of all, during my stay the hostel staff came barging into the room yelling at an older gentleman and kicking him out, while repeating the phrase "I dont deal with aggressive people" as if this is an excuse to those actions.A few minutes later the staff member came and said he was wrong and laughed it off, as if nothing is wrong. This is no way to treat guests and customers. There is no reason that would justify going into a room full of people and embarrassing one of them by yelling at them before even checking if they actually did anything wrong.I am sure this will stay the worst hostel experience I have ever had for a long time.
Excellent location in a great part of town, only a few minutes walk to the station. The private room was quiet and so warm (very nice in the cold weather). It had everything I needed, including a mini fridge, but everything was a bit older/out of date. There was an elevator for the higher floors but I had to carry my bags up one flight to reach it. Easy remote check in, Lukas was super helpful.
Great location in the old town near the lake, very clean, and full of friendly people! Highly suggest this hostel for anyone traveling through Zurich.
Amazing place with amazing people and great location. 😊 You will have a great time here.
Great place to stay in the centre of Zürich. The rooms have a funny twist and whole place breathes a very relaxed atmosphere. We came by bike which we could easily store safely.
The hostel was simple and easy to check in and out. Great location and clean facilities. There were no privacy shades on the beds which would be my only complaint.
Great experience..it got great cooking facility..and clean right middle in the old town ..I personally highly recomend..
Excellent service good communication..Best price to stay.
Very nice hostel in the city centre. The room was clean and spacious. Beware that the kitchen doesn’t have hobs but a microwave and an oven only.
Manager was a terrible person to deal with. He verbally abused someone in front of me who had nothing to do with a booking issue. There were safety concerns which were ignored and it was too expensive for the terrible quality hostel. I would never stay here again and am only rating it 1 star purely for its location in Zurich! Also your breakfast was shocking.
Of the hostels that I stayed at in Europe, this was definitely the best. Price and location make it hard to beat.Couple things:- Room - Pretty standard. It was nice that they had power bars that could could take in both Swiss and European plugs. They have a free locker in the room where you can put valuables.- Location - In the heart of old town, which makes a lot of interesting places within walking distance.- Day lockers - This was huge. Once you check out they have free day lockers (big ones toowhere you can put a backpackers bag and check out the sites for the day.- Breakfast - Included in your stay. Pretty solid. Not too much fruit but cant complain.- People - Probably got lucky, but met some interesting people to talk to.- Price - Very good value considering location and amenities.
Pros - Very good location with some historic places in walking distance.Friendly staff and easy/flexible check-in.Rooms and beds are pretty clean even though the building looks old from outside.Discounts in the bar downstairs for the guests (before 10pm I guess).Lockers available for someone who arrives early or want to secure luggage for few hours after checkout at 10am.Cons - Partial kitchen available (havent seen a stove).Bit expensive but Zurich is very pricey place and this is location well in the centre, 1 stop away from Zurich Main train station.I had a wonderful time here but just felt 10am checkout is too early. Otherwise wonderful place. I loved it and thoroughly enjoyed.
Good hostel in oldtown area.Nearby tourist place.Clean and good environment.Close to metro station.Good for money.
Great place for a couple of nights. Affordable. Nice breakfast
Most affordable place in Zurich. I found yummy Halal Food as well.
Hostel was indeed cheap and super close to the city center.its clean and breakfast is good too.just that rooms are crowded and Ill lit .but cant complain for the price in Zurich!
The cheapest place to stay in Zurich is still pretty expensive.. fans didnt point towards my bed in the summer so I was boiling hot all night. Location is good and staff are nice.
Great location, great facilities, bed is nice, pillow was not so great.
Breakfast was non existent. Dorms are very tight. Would not stay here if can get something else for similar price.
Careful !!! they remove negative comments,I published 2 years ago about insects/bedbug infestation of this hotel - and now its gone.Poor job google, no trust to reviews at all !!!
Great!!! Super place, super location, clean and comfy!
Good place close the old town and so really cheap money for the room.
Hope they clearly state that they have female only dormentry.
Its located in the center Zurich, easy access to most of the sights by foot. Its also a value for money. But the facilities and amenities like bed and linen are in basic quality. The bunk bed room is also pretty small and can be crowded if four people are all present. I would say its a good option if you travel on budget and stay for only one or two nights.
wonderful place to stay. not expensive, nice people, good location
Very nice hostel
