I wanted to try an authentic and traditional schnitzel and discovered this restaurant. It is owned by a family and has been beloved by many famous figures. If you order a traditional schnitzel, a waitress will cook it in front of you. Very fun to watch and the taste is great too. And because of the special service, it’s not cheap.

The food was pretty good, wines were great, but overall felt overpriced

I grew up eating schnitzel and was excited to try it at the place known for them. First of all, we couldn’t believe that they fry food next to the tables. We were there on a hot August afternoon, there was no AC to be found and the heat this cooking generated was just unbearable. The amount of butter they use to fry one schnitzel was ridiculous, it was honestly unpleasant to watch and even more difficult to eat the dish afterwards. If you don’t have cholesterol problems eating their schnitzel would definitely give you one. Adding one star because we really liked our waitress and she made the whole experience slightly more pleasant.

Lucas was amazing!! The house special was great and how they cook it in front of you was a pleasure. The best restaurant in Lucerne, Switzerland!

Lucas is Awesome!! Cooked my dinner in front of me and explained how they been doing the House Special for over 70 Years... This is a Must go Place. I highly recommend you do.

I saw raving reviews about the food and was willing to pay.We arrived when at around 11:40 and the restaurant was pretty much empty expect for a few customers and a few reserved tables (in the terrace).The service was terrible, to the point where we didn’t even bother to sit down or order. The staff pretty much ignored us and then walked to give a seated couple their menu, then back inside, then back out again. When she finally acknowledged us I asked if there was a place for 3. The response was lackluster, cold and hurriedly, “yes it would be”, gave us the menu and without another word left inside. No one came for another 5-10 minutes (we were standing). We did not felt welcomed so we simply left.Reading the negative reviews on google seems to suggest racism. I wouldn’t say I was certainly discriminated against but at least it still deserves a 1 star review for the price the restaurant demands and the service they offer some people, especially when the tables are empty..

This restaurant is fantastic, the styling of the restaurant is great, the service is very friendly and professional and the food is amazing. Expect it to be expensive but that is normal in Switzerland. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for the service.Edit: before I payed, the kind waiters were preparing a schnitzel for a different table outside. Now thats amazing.

Had an amazing time dining at this place! Our waitress wasn’t too friendly or rude, but offered us a great service (I guess this is how they normally treat their customers, although we spent over $200 for lunch). Yes, everything is expensive here in Switzerland!! But, it was a great place to have your server prepare and cook your food at your table. Everything was delicious, especially the egg noodles with spinach purée!! If you are in Luzern, this restaurant is a must!! ❤️

Wow! This is a MUST try restaurant! Lucas was an incredible server! With the beautiful, antique ambiance , the quality of service and the location, you must try thus place!We ordered the schnitzel and also the ravioli. Both dishes were excellent, high quality, deep flavor amazing! Outstanding experience and one worth it!

One of the best food I had in Switzerland. I tried the lobster pasta and beef fillet and They taste superb! Even though the food is pricey, it was worth it! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

What a fantastic restaurant. I have never eaten a better schnitzel than here. Cooked right at the table with a lot of butter. Absolutely fantastic. The staff is extremly friendly and make you feel at home. Highly recommanded. Love to come back soon

Excellent food, one of the finest wine selection and a service that deserves the name. It has its price! But better one meal here than 2 mediocre prefab, no atmoshere visits in comun restaurants. go for it! the at the table cooked Wienerschnitzel and the mousse au chocolat that remains legendary!

I have only ever had one drink there, 1 coke that cost the earth. Its way too expensive for me. Yet upon using the the bathroom, I was stunned by the beauty of the inside.Absolutely amazing. As an expat living in Switzerland for 3 years we tried our fair share of Weinerschnitzel. Nothing compares to Old Swiss House - hands down the best! The noodles and scrap bread crumbs famously make the meal. Also, fun connection to the Busch family of Anheuser-Busch fame. Being from St Louis, MO and home of AB brewery this was an extra treat for us.

Absolutely gorgeous traditional Swiss restaurant.You have to try duck liver with a glass of cold sweet wine as a starter. For mane course go for any of house traditional dishes. This time I hade seasonal Bison filet with was outstanding 🥩And of course take some good bottle of wine 🍷 and If you are a wine lover you will be impressed from their Wine list🌟For dessert my personal choice Swiss chocolate 🍫 muss house made. Or Crêpes suzette cooked at your table.

Traditional Swiss meals in a very traditional Swiss home atmosphere. This place is frequented by many famous people. This sets the standard for a schnitzel for me in the future.

Excellent restaurant with traditional Swiss food. We ordered the Schnitzel and it was quite entertaining to see how the food was prepared in front of us. The food was very tasty and abundant and the place is very cozy and nicely decorated in traditional Swiss style. Expensive, but worth the experience!

We reserved a table and come back after half an hr as agreed. But the table was taken. We ordered the Wiener Schnitzel and it was badly cooked and it was burned. The waitress was the cook. She simply sprinkled the bread crumbs on the meat. When the Schnitzel was served, meat and crambs were separated. This was the worst Wiener Schnitzel I had even eaten. What a joke and most disgusting Wiener Schnitzel ever served. This so called traditional Swiss restaurant disgraces the good old tradition of Austrian signature dish.

This restaurant is located near the Lion Monument just outside of Old Town Luzern. The menu features Swiss cuisine. It has a decent selection. I wish there were more Vegetarian or Vegan options. Our meal took two hours from beginning to end, which we felt was an extremely long wait. We had simple orders and it took an hour before we were served our salad.We will NEVER go back again.

Our first meal in Switzerland. I did not know the tipping etiquette and asked our waitress when the bill came and was told 20% which I added to the total.I guess now we know why she was robotic throughout the meal and became all friendly when the bill was paid.The food the wine even the service was not bad. Hand-carved wall panels, silverware, and antique collections make people feel like sitting inside a restaurant coming back to 17th century.Lobsterbisque is absolutely delicious and strong flavour in lobster with a touch of cognac.Chateaubriand is soft and tender with beef flavour. The veggies coming up in the dish is also sweet. I guess it’s also because Swiss ingredients are good and the chefs has a precise cooking technique to express the maximum natural flavour of ingredient itself.De-Luxe Wienerschnitzel (veal schnitzelis a classic Swiss dish. What make this disc special in this restaurant is that this dish is cooked next to dinning table, next to you. No wonder when the time you walk in this restaurant, you can already smell an aroma of butter and cream because nearly which table would order this dish.Don’t forget to go to toilet when you are in this restaurant, because you will pass thru a staircase holding lots of photos of celebrities and famous people with their signature and comments.The serving portion is big, so I would recommend you to come with an empty stomach. Amazing food, super hospitality, out of the world weinerschnitzel.

I went because a local friend that heard about this place and wanted to give it a try. Bad choice...If they had cut the price in half, it would have still been very expensive, $60 for a schnitzel?? Obviously not worth it and about 1 lb of butter make it taste ok but surely unhealthy.

Some of the best food I have ever had. Freshly made soufflé at the table. Gorgeous decorating and fascinating history. Good portion size for food as well.

We had mixed feelings about this restaurant. It just felt too expensive for what it offered. We read similar reviews from other users but still we visited as we felt we had to experience the traditional Swiss cousine. The interior is overloaded for today’s restaurant and gave out a sense of a different era but still welcoming.We had the signature schnitzel. It was good, prepared next to our table but the whole experience felt like an expensive tourist show rather than a traditional dinner. For the tag price there are much better restaurants in the city.

Yes, its a tourist spot yet I can see locals do dine there. Decor is lovely and quaint. Food is delicious and slightly on the pricy side but its worth it.

Very elegant place, top 5 must be place in Zurich. The environment is nice while the price is quite expensive (60chf per entree).

Keep in mind, when ordering at this restaurant they require everyone in your party to order their own entrees, no sharing, no exceptions. Keep that in mind as well an entree of beef stroganoff runs a cost 55 fr (US$58lol.With that out of the way, my wife thought her beef stroganoff was the best she has ever tasted. I ordered the snitschell mounds of butter goes into the dish and they make it right in front of you (see pics). I just thought it was an OK dish. But there was a group of 5 Americans across from us also kind of taken aback by the mandatory entree order but at the end of the night LOVED their schnitzel, each one of them. They ordered 5 separate dishes - I guess they truly took the no sharing to heart.Stay away from the chocolate mousse which is not very sweet at all. The app we ordered, which were cheese crouquets which was simply a fancy, square shaped mozzarella stick. The food was not bad but not great. Go for the ambience just be prepared for the price tag. Two desserts, two entrees, one appetizer, 5 drinks runs about 250 fr (~US$260).

This is an old historic Swiss house which is now a restaurant. Inside the decoration is dated and original and they have lots of period features and displays. The food is traditional Swiss and the schnitzel which is prepared and cooked in front of you is delicious. The staff wear traditional Swiss dress and are really freindly.
