Old Stone House of Brooklyn - Historical place museum in Elmhurst, United States
This Museum is great to visit for brooklyns history and where it all started. Seem "Brooklyn" was the epicenter of colonial times. Very informative and interactive. Visit on weekday afternoons for a private experience!
I love this place it part the neighborhood along with the park, ball court for all to socialize.
The owner is awful to the teenagers at the middle school across the street during the school year. A real Karen, with a matching haircut. Threatening kids for riding skateboards or bringing a dog. The 9 hour long cover-band performances are obnoxious (and awfulto residents. Inconsiderate, selfish owner. Great historic place. Rude owner, loud events.
Not a bad place if you want to skim the surface on what colonial life was like in NYC. The place is nicely maintained and has been restored perfectly. On the inside their are attractions like a fun game, cannon ball simulation and articles/documents line the place. Its honestly just very small and too short to properly spend a day here, so if you live further than 30 minutes from here its probably not worth coming
Great and friendly place. Fitting place for a memorial for the fallen
Beautiful park. Love the artist against the gates
This place is my home. When I have turf links that go late into the night and Iβm too tired to go home, I just stay in the old stone house. This makes it so I can have turf links any time of the night. Man I love the old stone(rhouse. If I die young bury me here π #turf #ilovetheturf #linksatturf??? #turfhead
Historic house with playgrounds around it. This was the location of the final stand during the Battle of Brooklyn. 1776.
A must see for history buffs! The community space upstairs is beautiful, I attended a traditional music slow jam and it was the perfect setting. Fascinating, interactive exhibits.
Really wonderful place! Full of history and charm! Great staff & fun events for everyone!
Love old houses, the garden was my fav partπ rainy day adventures π‘ hopefully next time I go Ill be able to view inside the house.
A beautiful, historic spot for theatre and other creative outdoor happenings.
I love learning about history and this place was so informative. Very cool place to visit!
Nice replica dutch farmhouse. Also, the garden around the house is a great places for toddlers to learn how to walk.
Awesome history. Beautiful garden. Super playground.
My favorite place, here in my neighborhood...,here with a historic building.
Public restroom had a strong smell of urine. The rest of the parks facilities are amazing!
Many Russian Chinese biological microchip deployments going on. Bathroom is open.
They have a wood fire oven that they use for certain events. Very cool...well hot.
A nice place to stop by and learn about the Battle of Brooklyn. A super kids friendly place with 3D board games like to play.
Great public programs, excellent for kids. Very friendly staff. Playgrounds all around the property, just amazing!
What a great piece of history in brooklyn. This where George Washington fought the troops from to known that Im stepping in a piece of history is absolutely mind blowing to walk in the foot steps of such a great general. Besides the old stone house there is a soccer field swings and slide sets , monkey bars and sprinklers for the summer time I will definitely recommend heading here with the kiddos on a nice day fair warning it can get jam packed here so bring some refreshments and your running sneakers
Gorgeous historically accurate exterior, interior has a permanent exhibit on the history of the house and the battle, and upstairs has a temporary exhibit thats changed 4 times a year. Fabulous staff!
Explore Revolutionary history here. Plus its a pretty park. Great outdoor market there.
Cute. The lady was very nice and let us visit inside even though it was too late and about to close.
Revolutionary War marker in Central Brooklyn. Located in a modern area but well preserved. Hosts workshops and theater.
A nice, small historical museum in a family park in Park Slope. The museum has limited information on the areas role in the Revolutionary War and an art exhibit. There is not a ton to do here, but if youre in the area, it might be worth stopping by. I went to a performance here by Opera on Tap and it was wonderful!
Been there few times a year for workshops and lectures as well as checking the exhibits and it doesnt disappoint. It might be small but it is a perfect outing when you want to nourish your soul without crowd nor pricey entrance fee, quality and originality. The House itself is historic in itself and is a little gem i hope locals appreciate. Im in Queens and dont mind driving here occasionally to check out its creative mini showings. Sampling is good for the soul when time and mind are restricted to fatigue and other busy life; a little dose of art and knowledge expand the mind and connect new neurons synapses!!π
Took my son 2 1/2 yr old to see a production (The Very Naughty Penguinby Spellbound theatre. What a delightful experience. The play itself was interactive which is absolutely key in entertaining and teaching toddlers. And Spellbound theatre has a knack for doing both. The staff was super friendly. I loves that they had some crafts for the kids to get in to while waiting for the show to start and after the kiddos were able to interact with the puppets. Be sure to get the season pass which saves you a few bucks per visit because if youre anything like me after your 1st visit you will not want to miss any of their other shows. P.S you can easily make a day of it because right outside the theatre is a very nice park so pack lunch for after the show and let those little Energizer bunnies run wild. Thank me laterπ
Small but interesting museum about the first battle of the American Revolutionary War. The upstairs becomes a performance space when the museum is closed.
Great use of a small space to tell important Revolutionary War history with effective interactive displays. Great for kids! Hidden Treasure.
We love this park. Its relative big with many sections: childrens playground, gardens, dog run, basketball courts, handball courts, large sports field that also hosts event such as free theatre performances.
A very unusual building being very historic in an otherwise normal Brownstone suburb of Brooklyn. We were not able to go inside as it was being used for a private function.
Cute historical gardens on the site if the Stone House where planning for the Battle of Brooklyn hapoen d in 1776. Well tended, berries growing, LinkNYC Free Wi-Fi in range, restrooms, picnic table and benches under large oak tree shade make this an overlooked gem!
A Breuckelen legacy from Brooklyns Dutch origins, and a survivor of the ill-fated Battle of Brooklyn, this Old Stone House features a small exhibit on the battle. (Its upstairs is also sometimes rented out for the likes of sample sales.Entry is by suggested donation of $3 (so will depend on how open to suggestion you are). Fifth Ave, btwn 3th & 4th Sts, Park Slope, Brooklyn.
Cool hanging out spot with the kids, your spouse or even if you are single (you can always sit on the outside). Depending on what day of the week, you will find soccer, kickball, basketball etc going on. Some nights are movie nights, along with other special events.I normally grab a gelato or icecream from the nearby stores before walking into the park to relax. Its a historic place, so dont forget to show to friends visiting.
Great place to play!!! πͺπͺ
Came for an event and it was a nice area. It was intimate with a nice decor. I came at night and did not get the day experience but would definitely be interested in coming here for an event during the day. Keeping in mind that it can also be booked for an event. My only worry would be the parking.
I LOVE the exhibits here, and I think they did a great job with really exploring the reality of revolutionary era Brooklyn. Come for an event, like a spirits tasting or a play.
Interesting historical place, as well as a very nice event space. In the latter capacity, restrooms and changing space are a little difficult. Otherwise it is a neat and different place to gather.
What a wonderful resource. First floor is a great museum covering the local history. Top floor is available for event rentals for an extremely reasonable fee. We had an 80 person birthday party for our small children. It was perfect
Beautiful old stonework restoration with bathroom restrooms for kids playing In the park and the park serves adjacent public school. Mini museum ground floor and meeting room upstairs.
A great historic site that is always updating its exhibits. Also has art on view, live music, and can be a venue for a wedding or party. Really well done all around.
Such a treasure. Exhibits are amazing, the history will blow you away. The garden us fantastic and a lesson if you want it to be but a joy to simply look at and enjoy. Special events here--a piece of living history that really, really lives.
I had my wedding at Old Stone House in September 2016. Both Kims were very helpful during the whole process and a huge help the day of. My guests enjoyed the venue and its exhibits made for a beautiful backdrop for my wedding. I would definitely recommend this place. Thanks again for everything ladies.
Great old stone house, couldnt believe its still up through out the years from the war this is a historic gem to look at. Even great for photo shooting the house. If you havent seen this old stone house your missing out.
Ive been to several events here and enjoyed all of them. The building is charming even though it is a recreation and not the original. I love the fact that they have plays out back in the summer.
The Old Stone House is a historic gem. The Battle of Brooklyn was a very dramatic and crucial event in the story of the Revolutionary War. The role that the Old Stone House played was a huge turning point in that story!
Great little piece of history in this park. Its amazing to think the original Brooklyn Dodgers played in this location and even more amazing that a brutal battle of the Revolution was fought here.
This is the real old stone house.George Washington was housed their with his troops. Im 35 yrs old, when I was in the first grade I saw pics of the house and area around it. It was like a big empty forest with this house standing alone in the middle. Look it up
