Old Skool Pantry - Restaurant in Luton, United Kingdom
I don’t know if this place has shut down or not but went here tonight for tea and it looked very not open
Ive been here lots of times now food is freshly cooked and always good coffee is one of the best in hitchin .staff are always polite and friendly
was just passing throught luton & stumbled upon this place. it is really, really, worth a visit—a sweet, unpretentious, local spot with delicious food (esp the small plates & pizza!). michael, the owner, is a real sweetheart as well.
Fantastic food, fantastic service - highly recommend!
Excellent pizzas - huge, tasty and very prompt - we did a call and collect. Highly recommend.
Oh...my...god!!!!! What an amazing breakfast venue!!!Try the Spanish Eggs .....just delicious and the Cannolis are a fabulous desert. If youre in Luton and looking for a great meal, dont look anywhere else.....trust me, youll thank me for it!!!
Truly excellent quality breakfast! Not the cheapest start to the day but the quality was worth the extra money, in my opinion. I visited and ordered as a walk in to avoid the restaurant having to surrender approx. 40% to the online ordering companies. The smoked black pudding was a stand out item for me. The Big Boy Butchers was huge - I didnt have room for the beans on my standard plate at home!! The only slight negative was that my fried eggs were overdone. However, the espresso was good and strong and I cant wait to try their canoli - Italian pastries are available! Will definitely try these guys again...
Nice food, well presented. A bit pricey though. The restaurant needs more lighting its very dark and slightly oppressive in the back. Why not light the room up better to show off the lovely food you serve there?
Italian pizza 100%. Very taste, fresh, quick delivery. Thank you☺️
Large party but fitted in easily - its bigger than it looks from the outside. Excellent food, mix of cuisines with interesting deluxe range of burgers. I had the caesar salad burger, with hard-boiled egg and chicken. Very tasty.
Ive been lucky enough to visit Old Skool Pantry often since it first opened a few years ago. Seasonal menu, friendly staff, and it never disappoints. Highly recommended and obviously one of the best places to eat in Luton.Great range of starters and mains, and loads of pizzas too. I often pop in for a pastry and a coffee too. Always a pleasure.
A nice place to have lunch. Food was decent, but because of the reviews Ive read, I was expecting more.
First time I actually wonder into Luton while waiting for someone to land on the local airport. Found this place on Trip Advisor and tried it for breakfast and was not dissapointed! Realy good food, with a twist and quite varied, they seem to have something for everyone in a medium to small menu. The expresso coffee was good as well and the staff top notch. Nice music, to cheer you up in the morning as well.
Friendly staff, great coffee & an extensive menu. Recommended!
Perhaps one of the very few worthwhile places in Luton. The food is always amazing and filling, with great value for money, the staff are very attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend it.
Best burgers ever! Cooked to perfection!Great portion size. Cocktails were very well presented and tasted great.Friendly, welcoming place with a nice relaxed atmosphere.100% recommended!
Had a full English breakfast, it was tasty and nice, loved the sausages. The plate is big but the way it is plated makes the portion look small, but it is not...I need rolling out there. Would go again.
Definitely the best Italian pizza I have ever had (trust me I love to eat and visit new places not only in uk). Mains also perfect.
Just tried the Angus burger and it was delicious best burger in the area by far get yourself to old school pantry and give it a try great place good atmosphere and a knowledge staff Five stars from me
Loved dining here with my husband and friends. We had the steak special which was cooked to perfection. Great food, great company, exceptional service, will definitely go back.
I went to this place when it was literally brand new; and had high hope for it and the brothers. They started as a deli/ fruit and vegetable shop selling local peoples fruits. As time when on the owner was changing it into a restaurant; I stopped going.I recently went back. Two teas cost £4.50They wanted £12+ for a vegan burger. Their pizzas are £12+ and little sides costing £5+.Not impressed
I had a takeaway breakfast and it tasted really nice. The packaging is recyclable, the staff are very friendly.
Great food, coffee was very smooth, generous portions of gorgeous food and fantastic service. The dark haired lady, I didnt catch her name Im afraid, was fantastic, very organised, didnt stop moving, memorised all our orders without a pen and made stunning coffee! My only, very minor, feedback was that maybe some more chilled music in the mornings/weekends might make it a bit more relaxing.
17/7/21, the day of my wedding! I knew that myself and my groomsmen were going to have a big day ahead of us, so I knew there was only one place to go!A few days beforehand I had sent them a message asking about the possibility of sending 7 of their butchers breakfasts to my house, as it was something they dont normally do I wasnt sure what the outcome wouldve been. But I didnt need to worry, a few messages back and forth and it was all sorted, qué to the day of the wedding, they arrived bang on time at 9:30am and my god they were DELICIOUS!Needless to say, Old Skool Pantry made my wedding that more enjoyable, my groomsmen had never heard of the place before, now theyre all eager to go there for dinner with their partners.Huge thanks to the entire team at Old Skool Pantry, you guys were awesome
I have heard good things about old school pantry from every one that been there and today i finally managed to have breakfast there. I wasnt disappointed the owner and staff were very friendly and accommodating. I had the butchers breakfast that looked and tasted amazing. Well recommend
Lovely place to visit for a quick cake pick up or for a full breakfast or dinner.Eaten here twice in the last two weeks and cannot fault their amazing food, wonderful staff and will definitely be back soon!
A real hidden gem in Luton, the food is fantastic and staff friendly, left full and happy with a bag full of their delicious cannolis. Truly one of my favourite spots in Luton for the cosy and friendly atmosphere and wonderful dishes.
Delicious food, big portions, beautiful decor, lovely host and staff
Food is really tasty here, however ordered a delivery recently of two pizzas both of which weren’t what we ordered - one was a completely different pizza (Straya Parmi is meant to have chicken on - had pepperoni on instead!and the other was not as described on menu (meant to be Bruschetta pizza - had no black olives, no red onion but had loads of mozzarella & white onion - which wasn’t on the description). We were so hungry we just ate them - and they were yummy.. but for 13 quid each I’d have expected something that resembled what we ordered. Also, just to note - maybe avoid using Deliveroo when ordering delivery as the pizzas had clearly been stored on their side or dropped, as they both arrived with most of the topping slopped to one side of the box in a big cheesy mess. This is the second time we’ve had a bit of a mix up with a delivery from there. It’s unfortunate as we do want to support them as a local business - might just stick to eating in (once able toinstead of delivery in future though.
We just treated ourselves to Two Pizzas and a Bottle of Wine for £25...Anna went for the “Phat Tony” and I went for the “The Stanley”Both top class and felt like a super treat before hosting our virtual quiz tonight! Well done guys!Remember everyone these guys are as local as it gets so #shoplocal
Seriously, what a lovely place. Food was lovely, the host and chap behind the bar are so polite & friendly. The drinks were lush. Even the music is on point. Both the wife and I really enjoyed our visit today. This is a spot people!!
Hidden treasure. Had a outstanding italian meal. This restaurant is doing authentic regional dishes. The host and chef are very engaging, and make you feel at home. If you want great food, and great service, worth a visit.
Very quaint atmosphere. Very lovely people, amazing food. Definitely would be back! I had the sweet stack for breakfast and have ordered black velvet cake to take away.
This place is amazing, such a lovely interior, great decor, absolutely lovely staff. And the food, oh my days! Its just the most amazing food, and it looks just as good as it tastes. Now they have introduced pizza as well and its the best pizza Ive had!
Quirky place with an unusual take on the traditional breakfast offering. Great sour dough bread and attentive friendly owners
Good food, lovely staff and they do their best to cater to dietary requests. Its a shame that outside looks a little jaded but once inside, its lovely. Tastes are sharp and distinct and the menu is creative with vegans catered for. Cost is about 12.00 per head dependent on what is ordered. The only disappointment was the hot chocolate - far, far from delectable, just tasted of hot frothy water. A good place to eat and chat in an unhurried space.
Loved it! A unique and special dining experience. So cosy and homely with everything homemade. Will be going back again and again!
This is a lovely little place. Full of character and not your typical coffee shop! They really want to stand out and be different. Which I think they most certainly have.Staff are very friendly and great service. And they certainly know their food! The latte was spot on and you can taste the beans... The rose cake was just right.. Its different.. Wasnt so rich and each bite you can taste the flavours.... Defo recommend the rose cake!Great for families... Kids would love it!Defo will be back!
The design of the place is nice, it has a trendy hipster vibe and a great atmosphere. The food was fantastic although a little bit slow to arrive. However, the taste and presentation made up for that. The staff did not really give the impression that they wanted us there and the waitress did seem a little bit lost. Albeit, a good time was had and i would return.
Had a really nice time. Food was great. Service kind of slow but I would still come back if I had the chance.
I wasnt a huge fan of the breakfast they do here. Butter was frozen and the potatoes in my omelette were hard.. it seems a lot of the ingredients werent fresh. Hot chocolate was also disappointing considering I paid just under £5 for it... The cake/pastry stand is probably the only thing I liked because of the huge selection they offer. Personally, Id focus more on sweet dishes than the other breakfasts they offer.
Do expect random guests at breakfast time 👷🏻♂️👨🏻🔧 This has got to be a rare find in Luton🔍 the breakfast was great for an average price of £10 per person. However Id happily pay more if that meant the place would be more exclusive! One thing that i dont like is that they keep changing menus, so if you go back for something you really enjoyed last time it may not be available to order anyone 🙄
Friendly, affordable, quick, nicely decorated, wide selection of cakes and great options for vegans/vegetarians.Unquestionably the best breakfast in Luton
Very disappointing, I do not what happened with the food at the Old Skool Pantry. We have come for Sunday breakfast and the food was poor at best. My vegan breakfast was luke warm at best and tasting of vinegar. The case was the same with my friends. Balckpudding crochets seemed bitter and we could not find black pudding in them. Pancakes were solid and not fluffy at all as they usual are seen that they have been reheated. Not the quality of food we are used to at the Old skol Pantry. The service was exceptional however and with a smile so no change there. We will be back and expect its a blip in drop of food quality.
Lovely vegetarian, gluten free breakfast. Staff were very polite and helpful.
This place truly is a hidden gem. Doesnt look much from outside but is very cosy in the inside. More importantly, the breakfast is outstanding, very tasty and reasonably priced. The staff was also very nice. Would highly recommend!
A small restaurant with a big personality in the high town are of Luton. The restaurant doubles as a shop selling both Deli and bakery goods, but quality is what Old Skool Pantry goes for and achieves. Old Skool Pantry has a limited menu to begin with, but they undertake quite a few speciality food evenings focusing on certain foods like cheese or fish. Some evenings are set aside for vegetarian and vegan cuisines. As a restaurant they cater for all eating needs. I would suggest if you in Luton giving it a try as you wont be disappointed.
I dont normally do this unless its a stand-out for either a positive or negative reason. Here goes.Turned up got table quickly. Servers busy and disengaged. Menu was very limited but noticed pancakes with Oreos being served. could not see them on the menu or on the any specials board. After waiting long enough, had to call someone over to take order.Asked about the Oreo pancakes and server mentioned its a special. We would not have ordered it or even be offered it if we had not seen them being served. Anyways ordered one of them and a Butchers Breakfast, with 2 coffees.Orders came very quickly, Almost too quickly..... Looked appetizing but the butchers breakfast was served with luke warm beans. The food was all piled up on a bit of thick slice of toasted crusty bread. Pointless serving it this way as it all needs to be taken apart and everyone will know that a crusty bread needs a bread knife (or similarto cut into as the crust is way to hard to be cut. Trying to wrestle with the eating knife was not at all enjoyable! The black pudding link was also to touch to be cut with the knife....Being pretty easy going I just bared with it. The worst part was almost halfway into my breakfast, when I found a stone slightly larger than a baked bean in my mouthful. I called the waitress over who said "oh it looks like a stone" took it from my table and handed it to the chef.No sorry, can I get you a new breakfast not a single thing was said or done about it. Asked for the bill, paid up and left. In hindsight I wish I had left without paying or making a point.I really would avoid this place or maybe just consider it for the pancakes. I eat out a lot and I feel that there are plenty of better places around and no way should it be considered among the top 50 restaurants in the Luton area.
Amazing food and service. The food is tasty and well presented. The sitting area is really nice too. The staff is friendly and helpful. Strongly recommended to anyone looking for a comfortable and tasty place to eat.
This place is a Luton jewel! First class food served in very cosy and original atmosphere. We stopped there for breakfast and had oat muffins with mascarpone and pear and smoked salmon with creame cheese and pochaed eggs on sourdough bread. Yummy! Witnessed a lady there who came to do some lux shopping (cheese and sausagesand booked a table for dinne almost a month in advance. That speaks for itself! Good place for dates as well ❤. Thanks for this lovely place.
