Old Shutter Cafe & Bistro in Cheshunt

Very unique place. Popped in purely out of curiosity as we saw vinyl records on the wall. I was having a lunch reunion with a friend I havent seen for a long time. We both felt a genuine welcome from the staff. We got a table of our choice. Didnt have to wait too long for the food to arrive, which was hot, well presented and totally Delicious 😀We will definitely return to the old Shutter Cafe for lunch again for the cosy relaxing atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service. Unfortunately we didnt take any photos as we were too busy catching up and savouring every delicious mouthful. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The food was really lovely and presented well. Lots of options and they were really accommodating of requests. Attentive staff. Will go again and bring people.

I had to wait too long as they said we are busy and I said i have to leave becauseI have an appointment and can not wait longer , and the guy said we are busy very aggressive and rude. 0 from 10 customer services. I had an orange juice and half of glass was full ice , I had to pay for ice .

I’ve been here few times and had the bad experience that I could ever have!The team seems always different and always unhappy!Most of the time it’s very quiet not many customers!And I guess I know the reason and I wanted the owner to know this aswell so here I’m giving my opinion!You won’t get the same food and drinks as on the pictures! The service is very slow and the food tasteless!The place looks not very hygienic out table was sticky when we sat!

My order came out really fast, and it was so yummy.

Great family diner with huge portions but reasonably priced.

Went here for the first time and the food was great. 3 of us shared both meals: American Breakfast and Mediterranean Crostini. The staff were nice and the price is reasonable. Both meals are actually quite healthy. I think only downside is that was waiting a while to get the food but wait was worth it.

I’m a regular customer, food is great but customer service is poor.

Rip off, and he doesn’t seem to understand this, you menu is disgusting and foul let alone my review! Ripping of the people in your local area in times where many people are struggling! You should be ashamed of yourself! Have a look at your REAL reviews not just from your friends and family and maybe you will see how out of touch you are! I rang the cafe to talk with your and turns out your on holiday, enjoy your holiday at your customers expense, I take it you went for the 5* all inclusive considering you outrageous pricing!

My husband & I went to THE Old Shutter Cafe to have breakfast. Our last trip there was about 3 months ago with my daughters family. The atmosphere were super friendly, great service & amazing food menu. Where they allow you yo have the option to create your iwn breakfast.❤️👍 I must said, the server were very helpful, patience, friendly, wearing a happy smile. Thanks to the chef & the servers for their amazing services. Highly recommended⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍

Gave this place a 2nd chance after bad service the first visit and unfortunately nothing has changed. Ridiculously slow table service, have to ask for everything numerous times before getting it. Asked if they could make a small child size omelette, waiter went in the back and asked the chefs, he then came back and confirmed that yes they could make a small one. When we went to pay the same guy tried to charge us £8 for an adult size one and made out the whole conversation at the beginning never happened? Really confusing and weird. Will never go back again after that.For the other reviews saying it’s the best cafe, they obviously don’t get out much or it’s family members / friends writing them ……Food mediocre, service ridiculous.

Lovely pancakes just how I wanted them light and fluffy will highly recommend it to anyone who is passing by or want really good pancakes to try out this place.

I had an outstanding breakfast at Old Shutter. Massive compliments to the chef. The shakshouka was incredible - so fresh and tasty with the sourdough bread to compliment it. All the staff are super friendly too. I cant wait to come back (maybe even tomorrow haha)

Excellent service and food especially the American Breakfast which is a beautiful blend of sweet and savoury.

Completely agree with the reviews on here about the service as I experienced this also today. Both the lady waiters just seem really dopey and on another planet to be honest! We were sat at the table at the front of the shop behind the counter (so easy to be hidden away from staffI initially didnt have a problem with this but the table was wobbly, I told the waitress about this and she moved the table 1cm as if thats going to make a difference and said sorry and walked away! I saw x2 tables inside which had enough to seat us and asked to move tables and she refused this and gave me some vague reason why we couldnt move. When we finished our meal I saw the same x2 tables still vacant when we were leaving so I was clearly lied to by the staff! Not cool.Luckily I thought outside the box myself and asked another waitress for a wad of serviettes to stabilise the level of the table to stop the table wobbling. The waitress only brought x1 serviette and not a wad which I clearly asked for. Managed to use my own serviette to solve it myself, just really dopey from both waitresses to be honest. They should know of this and do it themselves, as many have done this for me in many other restaurants Ive been to throughout my life.Food is ok (and much better than the serviceI think I would only come back for a takeaway given the poor service we received.

Went here today, ok beverages, that’s all we had really. It was my second time with the same waitress, never found her too friendly but today she made an extremely hot hot chocolate and kindly approached her asking to cool it down, acknowledging that I had forgotten to ask for a warm one, to which her reply was ‘yes, you forgot to say that’. Plain and blunt. She immediately started making a new one to which I then explained there was no need for, and that all that was needed was the very hot chocolate to be transferred into some glass. She looked at me like I was speaking about quantum physics. Finally, after much explanation, she transferred it as instructed. I then had to get up again to ask for a paper towel since none were provided. For some reason, she always seemed lost/puzzled and acted like it was a big deal whatever the request was. Staff in real need of training and some good manners, asap!!

The Turkish eggs meal was amazing. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the sourdough bread was very tasty and was both crispy and soft. The food of my other two in my party looked very presentable and tasty too. I cannot fault the meal at all. The cost was reasonable.Drink size was above expectation.Thank you.

Old Shutter has to be the best around the area. They have delicious dishes with beautiful presentation as well as amazing coffees. The service is great and all staff are so lovely. I will definitely be coming back. I recommend to everyone!!!

Have been going here for many years and food has always been really good. Seems this place has recently been sold to new owners. Food has diminished, atmosphere very strange (awful music, strange energysadly won’t be going back.

I’ve been here many times with my son and friends . Everything is so delicious, I love the chai latte. You will ask why 2 start? Yes because I have to beg the service to take my order . I have to beg them for sugar for tissue or whatever I will need . Food and coffees always are delayed. So slow service . Not that friendly. I’m still coming cus I love this small brunch place but the service need some extra training .

The place is great. But the waitress aren’t prepared for the service.Waitress can make mistake like happen to me today.. but instead of solving it they just make it wrost.. I didn’t had a nice experience today.. waitress knows but didn’t do anything!It happens more then once so I’m sorry I’m not going to come back here anymore..

Nice place which sales hot food from a menu as well as cakes and sandwiches for people on the go. Very popular at lunch time which show how good the food is. Nice staff of two with people in the back doing the cooked food. Being there a few times now and like the atmosphere.

Really delicious food, and so much else to try on the menu. Good prices. There was a little bit of a wait for food but would definitely go again.

Best coffee shop in Enfield town. Very good service, so many food choices and very delicious.Very nice workers with great customer service.They didn’t have free table for 6 people when we went there but one of their staff tried her best to make a comfortable space for us. Thank you

Nice establishment - lovely interior and the staff are generally friendly. The food is generally fine and coffee is good. I have been many times and will return. Most recently, l ordered a sandwich which was nice. Fries were ok. I tried my daughters burger and it was just average. I was going to order the chicken and waffles but saw it on someone elses plate and it didnt look like proper fried chicken so didnt want to risk being disappointed.

Great service and tasty food. The coffee was arguably one of the best I ever had. We waited a bit for food to arrive but that was normal as everyone came in at the same time. Will certainly be returning again!!

Best pancakes we’ve ever had (and we know our pancakes)! Will definitely be stopping here for lunch next time we’re in town.

Service is terrible. After awaiting outside for half an hour under a super windy weather, a table was available. Another customer had a table at front door who requested to change new table more inside. However, the staff didn’t check with me if I would like to take their table next to the door or inside one, also ignored my request to take inner seat. The staff was facing back to me, she already arranged the customer to change their table, and said here is your seat. I felt VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND EXTREMELY RUDE SERVICE indeed. No matter how good their food is, service and respectfulness to customers is always the most importance to everything for a restaurant!

Great interior, comfy chairs and quiet ambiance. Food good with some interesting Turkish specialities. Service good and very friendly. Just not good value. £19 for breakfast for one...I will go elsewhere.

Lovely spot in enfield, highly rate the coffee and food. Had American breakfast for brunch and it was amazing with fruit and pancakes served with crispy streaky bacon eggs and sausage literally to die for. I have visited twice after with family and friends and the experience just keeps on getting better. Keep up the fantastic service please !!!

Nicely decorated, quick service, really attentive staff, reasonably priced too. Really tasty overall. Not keen on the chicken and waffles, but the French Toast and American pancakes was sooo good. even the plain toast we ordered was the perfect temperature. will definitely come back

Yum😋 The Full English Breakfast I enjoyed, was well cooked and presented. The staff were friendly and attentive. I went on Monday morning, so it was quiet, but I was told that it can be very busy at weekends. I expect to return.

Musical coffee, runny yolks and everything in-between. This was our first time visiting Old Shutter and the brunch and service was perfect.

Visited on a very busy Sunday morning. Only got a take away coffee but plenty of people were having breakfast. It looked decent. Little bit miffed that two people came in after us, ordered take aways and got theirs before us. Seems friends get served first. Coffee was very weak, tasted like a cup of warm milk.

I came here when it opened up but could leave my review as it was not set up on Google. It’s a lovely place, very stylish, very nice food, very nice staff, nice decorum, great for meeting up, lunches etc. We had very tasty dish & I hope to taste some more. They are in the middle of Enfield, family friendly. Reasonable pricing. Recommended.
