Old Rail Trail Carpark in Ros Comain

As this leads into a beautiful trail, the car park gets a thumbs up.

Great place for free parking, easy access to the old railway walk and the canal walks.

Good that there’s a porta potty there now. Was in good, clean condition a few weeks ago when visited the car park. The place is frequented by cyclists and walkers, and the presence of the facility is appreciated.

Old rail trail is great for cycling. Really enjoyed it. The Greenways are a brilliant addition to our country.

Could use a cafe stop for the ones cycling Old Rail Trail but otherwise all good.

Free parking with nearby access to The Royal Canal Way and the Old Rail Trail. Portaloo was spotless today AUG 16TH...Similar one in Coolnahay could do with some attention please!

Great spot to start from if you want to do either the Royal Canal Greenway or the Athlone Railway Greenway.Carpark is free which is incredible! It is busy enough spot and right beside the main road. There is a portaloo there.......... just hold your nose 👃

Free parking, not to busy you can always found a spot. Just a few minutes away from starting point of the Greenway. No height restrictions so dont worry about that.Perfect place to enjoy Old Rail Trail Greenway. Bike shop/service just across the road can be helpful.

Fantastic fast smooth surface most of the way. Loads of interesting old railway architecture, very well maintained Greenway overall. Cycled from Mullingar to Athlone with the wind behind me, came back in a headwind but not too bad as a lot of the track is sheltered......if you enjoy cycling dont miss it....

Did 11km first run, 2nd run 27km each way, so looking forward to the 40km each way next weekend, fabulous track.

Great facility for people who are cycling or walking on the old rail route or canal. Very safe with traffic lights to help you cross a very busy road. Well done to all concerned

The Old Rail Trail path is excellent! The path is wide, the surface is smooth and the scenery is lovely. There is a free public carpark with adequate spaces at the trail start in Mullingar.The carpark and trail entrance can be a little difficult to find though, when youre not familiar with the area.

In Mullingar check out this cycle trail, really well laid out tracks, beside railways and overlapping canal. Hire bikes locally, head up to beautiful Lough Owel, even more adventurous can trek to Lough Ennell. Plenty of routes to take, tracks are smooth well laid out, only a few on road sections. But well worth exploring.

Free parking. No height restriction so you can carry bikes on the roof of your car.Clearly marked bays and Traffic light crossing to help you cross the road.
