95 Linden St, Oakland, CA 94607, United States, Berkeley
Industrial-chic brewery & beer garden serving elevated American pub fare & pints.
OLD KAN IS CLOSED. DO NOT GO! IT IS A HORRIBLE FOOS TRUCK RESTAURANT NOW!
This place is not open. Here on a Friday at 6. Google says it’s open. It’s not. Shut down your website. Waiting for an Uber after a long walk for no reason.
Where else in Oakland can you find $5 beer. The staff is friendly, I couldnt recommend this place more... This business recently opened up after covid, so please support!
Shotty hours of availability. This place has been closed our last 3-4 attempts over the last two years despite their own social announcements of being open.
Great beer!! A friend and I tried 3 different types. A light beer up to a darker barly beer. We both agreed the middle was the best but overall all 3 were tasty. Great customer service and huge outside seating area. Location is kinda tricky so use your Google maps definitely.
Back open and making killer beers. The genius behind OG Linden Street Brewing is back. Check it out for great beer and good food.
Old school music, good beer. Friendly people. Good place to relax on a weekend afternoon.
Easy access good beer. Access to location is hard. In. Warehouse location . bathrooms are also hard to find.
This place is super chill. The beer selection was good there were a couple of guest beers on tap. The vibe here was pretty cool its kind of connected to a place I think you can wine taste & close to a spot that can be a wedding venue..? The beer can wall is dope and the food selection is pretty good too! Portobello mushroom burger/sandwich for the win!
Our first visit to Old Kan today. 5 of their own beers on tap plus a few Guest Brews.I had the IPA and Lager, very good! Menu had very good fries, plain or seasoned with Old Bay. Also had the best Brussel sprouts with squash. We will be back!
Best fried chicken I think I’ve ever had. They put both white and dark meat in it, and it’s huge! The beer is great too. No crazy beer styles, but the varieties they have are done very well.
Seems like they have their groove after the shift from The Dock & Beer Shed.Interesting selection of beer; mostly not too hoppy like their Rice Beer, Black Lager, and CA Common.Food is pretty good too. More gastro pub vs. upscale, where The Dock was trying to go.Not sure what happened between Linden St and Adam, the founder, but Linden is now Oakland United, down a few blocks by JLS.
Excellent restaurant. Burger was simple but very tasty. Salad was outstanding. Service was relatively fast, and very friendly. This is not a place that you would ever stumble onto. In fact if you were not using maps to get there, you would never think to go here. But Im glad I went a little off the beaten path and tried it out.
Best spot to chill with friends, share a pint and meet new people. Old Kan is my home away from the coliseum when the As are on the road. Thank you Adam and gang for giving us a great place to frequent!
Great beers and delicious hamburgers! We were happily surprised by the quality of both. And as a bonus, with a purchase of 2 kinds of their beers, a $1 goes to two different charities. We will be back!
I would recommend doing the flight if youre wanting to try a selection affordably. I believe I got 4, 6 to 8 oz glasses for under $15.
Great food! Location and atmosphere is awesome! Only downside is their in house brew. They should stop brewing beer and burn their current stock. It is awful swill...
This place is great. We arrived with our 2 kids meeting multiple other families. Theres not much going on specifically for kids, but they were welcome to unpack toys and do some chalk art on the concrete floor in the outdoor seating area and act as kids do. It was also dog friendly and there were several around. Food and drinks were of high quality. The beer selection is thoughtfully curated but a tad pricey. We had the fried chicken sandwich which was beautifully prepared and sets the standard in terms of crunch. The staff at the bar and bussing tables were friendly and laid back. Well certainly find more occasions to return.
Best chicken sandwich in the bay area hands down. I LOVE THIS PLACE.DJs spinning wax on weekends... what more could you want.
Bring back the fish and chips! Theres still a pic on your website of them. When people would ask me where to eat in Oakland, I would tell them Old Kan because of the fish and chips. Bring them back! Ill come visit more often, I promise.
I initially came here thinking it was going to be your typical hipster joint, but I was wrong. The clientele was a mix of folks (hipsters too), and there was plenty of places to grab a seat. The bartender was great to talk with and their beer selection was good. They brew a wide variety of beers, but I really enjoyed their porter. Old Kan is definitely worth a visit if youre ever in the area.
Fantastic food, excellent vibe and service. One of my favorite places to eat and chill in Oakland, a diamond in the Port!
Fried chicken sandwich, chicken wings and beer was awesome!!
Awesome food awesome beer and awesome staff. Plus great place to sit out the traffic. Bug parking lot close to freeways.
I have been to the establishment throughout the years before and after ownership changes. Always great open air sometimes windy what kid friendly atmosphere. Good food and drink.
Fantastic service, Adam is an incredible brewery and is getting better and better. The classic was perfect on a hot day. Get the chicken sandwich.
Great small brewery in a funky warehouse with very solid house beers on tap and some interesting and exotic cans. Simple food menu (mostly burger-and-fries type stuffbut tasty and delicious. Awesome staff.
Pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food was! Tater tots had Japanese seasoning on them which was delicious and the fried pickles were 👌I was slightly confused at how ordering worked but the staff was friendly and service quick.
Making and serving traditional Brew like your grandpa knew. Light, dark, mild without all the bro-prose. You like it light with a little rice? Yes sir. Want you beer seasoned with million adjectives? Please go elsewhere.
Great service with delicious beer and a great daily cocktail. We got wings and the new curry tots, which were both deeeeelicious!
Good vibes, casual space with lots of different seating options and atmospheres...great service and delicious tots! OLD KAN BEER! Its so good and really so reasonably priced.
We came for a friends birthday celebration. Such delicious and surprising food! We ordered the burger, the fried pickles and the tater tots. Theirs beers are also excellent, with lots of different choices that include draft and canned craft beers, ciders and wine, not just IPAs. You can also order shots, but they only offer 1 or 2 cocktails. They do offer a 4 selection beer flight. The decor is old warehouse style, with a lot of different sized tables to suit many sized groups.
First time here! The beer, food & service were outstanding!!! Loved to see the place is family friendly & patio is dog friendly. The decor was like a rustic industrial but welcoming. Have a group...they serve pitchers. Food was phenomenal!! The fried chicken sandwich, tater tots, fried pickles & chorizo fries were all to die for! Only thing I wish is they would have told us sandwiches came with fries...then we wouldnt have ordered chorizo fries & tater tots. Lol! Wish they had a wider selection of CA beers on draft & less in others in can/bottles! Would definatly recommend & will go back!!
Fun atmosphere, friendly knowledgeable staff. Great beer, tasty hot food (fried chicken sandwich with tots for the win). My only gripe is that the actual menu of items available is much smaller than the menu posted online. Will definitely be back!
Edited from 4 stars to 5. They fixed the burger, added a goddamn amazing fried portabella or fried chx hot oil sandwich, still have tater tots and the beer is great. Give them your money!
Great place next to the railroad tracks passing through Oakland. Sunny patio, awesome staff, and a great vibe. The cheeseburger was honestly just a cheeseburger (patty, cheese and thats about it). However, it just so happens that it was the best cheeseburger that I have ever eaten. It almost tasted like my Memas meatloaf, which is the highest complement I could ever give. At first glance, and bite, it seems underwhelming, but it is ridiculously good!
Really cool new spot with good beers and small but decent menu selection. The fried chicken sandwich was delicious! Also has a cozy atmosphere in the one side and an overflow area plus outdoor seating. Well be back for sure!
Old Kan has a great modest selection of beer. Above average pub food. The environment is relaxing, tucked away in a slightly industrial area(clean and safeaway from the big city grind.
Wings and tots were off the hook! Beer selection not bad. Super friendly and a cool subdued funky atmosphere. Go and hang loose....drink...eat...
This place was really great. House brewed beers, which seem good so far. Id like to work my way through em. Same goes for the menu which is short but very good. The cheeseburger was a pile of cheesey oily juicy comfort food goodness with tater tots on the side. Cool atmosphere, open and airy with a clean industrial motif. When I was there they were having some kind of home brew event. The beer nerds got a jumper for the kids. The place was packed full of families.
Great place to grab a beer (combination of tap and can), cider, wine (one each of red, rose, and white), whiskey, and unique bar food. The wings are smoked but crisp, the fish and chips are generous and served with an elevated vinegar, and the prices are comparable to the area if not better. Quiet and a little off the path it is a place you can meet friends and feels like a exclusive party.
Delicious creative takes on bar food in a nice spacious indoor/outdoor atmosphere. Chill place to watch a game too. Friendly and fun staff. One of my new favorite places!
Best fish and chips ever! Crispy outside, juicy and tender inside 💗 might be the the fish and chips I have ever had in my life !
Adam has done it again this is a great place for drinks n eats. Nicely selected beers on tap and in cans as well there are wine and high end spirits. Didnt get a chance to try the eats but the beer is quaility, I tried the sour.As i sipped down my tasty beverage they had a live dj spinning some heat for ambience. I will be back for some of them eats for sure.Did i meantion a view of the city from the patio?
Great beer with great food. Dont let its location fool you! Also have outdoor seating as well as games. Worth a stop!
Ive been here twice now, once on the weekend and once on a weekday. They do not currently serve lunch on the weekday, but are open at 4pm. The food, drinks, and service is good. Everyone is very friendly. Ive had the burger with tater tots and the rice bowl; both are good. Ill be going back for more food and hoping they open for lunch. They do cater corporate and private events in their dining space. The outdoor and indoor space is a cool spot and Ive seen people with their laptops out. This area of West Oakland is industrial and you can see Amtrak pass by; its also within 10+ min walking distance of the West Oakland BART. I would recommend this place for anyone looking for good food and good drinks.
Great beer selection and excellent tots and fries!
Delicious food, great beer and the nicest staff ever. Great for groups or events.
Good selection of beers (draft and canned), chicken wings, and a sunny patio at the former Linden St space.
Aside from being away from downtown Oakland, OKB & Co is the perfect fit in this part of town. I came by for a meet up and immediately fell in love with the place. It has all the vibes and fixtures to make this a go to spot. I mean what else can you expect from a brewpub of this magnitude? Parking is plenty including a all-purpose dining room, heated patio, bike parking and spacious lot. Even though I came for media purposes, I also came back on soft opening. Service is attentive and quick with no errors encountered. All I can say is The OK Burger, Kanibal Fries and Old Kan Dark is the way to go. However, you can get what you want, but Im sticking to original as close as possible. Portions are perfect for a single diner with as most will finish and doggy bag is not needed. Now come Sunday, Ill be back again for grand opening on March 5th. You just cant go wrong here folks. So come on by and check it out.
