Very good service, quick food delivery, good chicken fried steak.

Worst steak ever.Small for 16oz., overcooked, tasted horrible.Never got green beans.Server took order and delivered order and bill, nothing else.

This place never ceases to amaze me. The food is flavorful and served with presentation in mind. I have told sooo many ppl about Jodys who are now regular customers. I love their burgers and the chicken fried steak(cfs). Their cfs is the only one I have ever eaten that has little to no gristle.Oh my goodness, I forgot about the ROLLS! Their dinner rolls are made fresh. They are so soft and squishy you want to make a meal of the rolls alone. Please dont take my word for it...go try it yourself. Youll want to thank me later. No worries, just be glad you know about this place now. I am!!!

OMG!! Gator, frog legs, sweet potato fries, ect... everything is amazing! Staff is great. Atmosphere is relaxing and has great small town type vibe! Highly recommended

When you go to Jodys be ready to be treated like family and make sure your hungry because their food is not only great the portions are huge if you leave hungry its not their fault I promise... Gauranteed to be well worth every penny spent!!

I feel bad having to give this place less than 5 stars, and there were times Ive been here and it was good, but the last couple of times Ive had relatives in from out of town and I was bragging on this place and telling them how good it was only to have the service be REALLY slow both times and the food just be sort of ok, but not good. My relatives were not impressed and couldnt see what I saw in this restaurant. Anyway I was disappointed, and although Ill likely be back again, I wont bring a party with me. This place has been hit or miss recently and I dont want to look like I dont know what Im talking about

Cash only! But other than that, everything is always delicious. Pickle sauce is a must with the fried pickles.

As long as they have that spicy dipping sauce we are good. Good place to come and have an old school feel to it.

Food was great! We had the Chicken Steak and a Cheese Burger. They DO NOT accept debit/credit cards but they do have an ATM machine by front door! This place is not fancy and located in an older part of town. Women’s restroom is in a awkward spot right next to waitstaff station in front of kitchen.

Great place for a family friendly meal and cold beers. The highlight of the meal was their onion rings and gizzards!

I been here in Temple almost a month and been trying to find a good burger. I was reading the reviews of other place. But I was reading the reviews here and it was hitting everything I was looking for. It brought back memories of a burger joint in Houston, Texas. So I placed my order over the phone and the young lady that took my other was very polite and nice. And what really took me back was the fact when I went to pick up my order I felt at home. The employees was working together and it was like family inside. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ it was ALL WOMEN in the restaurant working and I only saw one gentleman come out the back. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I will definitely be coming back. And bring my family. Love the atmosphere and how nice the people were here.⭐️⭐️⭐️

Customer service great, but everything else was just a soggy version of golden corral, also what idiot puts a bathroom behind where waiters stand

Good food. Enjoyed the shrimp and catfish, it was really good. The wait time to get a table wasnt long and they are quick about getting the food out.

First time at Jody’s, but I liked the way the outside looked, and the parking lot was full. It did not disappoint! It is one of those great types of restaurants of old that reminded me of my dining experiences of my youth, which you rarely find these days. The food was great and the service was top notch. I wolfed down my burger and hand cut fries while the vintage jukebox played away…..

Recommended this place and not a fan. This was not what I was thinking whenever we were told home cooking. I always clean my plate no matter how full I am and this time was a no go. If you’re up for bland cooking yeah this is home cooking for you.

My first trip to old Jodys, we had always gone to Jodys Family. I was very pleased with todays visit.

Home town favorite rt here been going here for years and never disappointed. The hot wings are one of a kind and that salad is straight from heaven..

I had to wait to get home, and be medically pulled out of a "Coma", from devouring most of this chicken fried steak. The only gripe I have is 1.no debit/charge capabilities. 2.a wee bit slow on service. Friendly, but a little slow. The service industry quickly chews up non worthy people and spits them out. Be personable, and multitask....thats the recipe. Anyway, awesome little place right by the VA! Jodys will get my business. I will bring anyone I know here! Go here!

I have been here several times. Great customer service and the food is always delicious! As you walk in you will be greeted with a smile or a friendly nod from the owner. You are also able to call ahead which is very convenient.

I grew up on Jodys, and they have remained obstinate in their refusal to change to this day, God bless their fuzzy red necks! Jodys is where you go to have a big ole burger, fries, a Coke and listen to old-school country on the jukebox. They fry anything thats not beef--chicken, Twinkies, gator...you name it. Drinks come in BIG cups, and youll probably be sharing a table with strangers. Pull up a chair, say, "Hi!" and grab a menu. Be aware, they get BUSY at lunch and dinner, and they DONT TAKE PLASTIC! Its okay, though...theres an ATM in the entry--just dont block folks!

A great family restaurant with simple old fashioned meals. Do not do anything fancy just good food that tastes good without any frills. I usually get the chicken fried chicken with tater tots and it always with plenty of food- no skimping on the servings so bring your appetite. Very informal restaurant with good service. Service can be a little slow but it is always busy and the is trying their very best.

They are always good but not today no taste in the chicken fried chicken, and forgot to put my gravy but the lady in drive thru is always great

First time eaten here. Needs to be inspected by the health dept. I don’t know what the hype is about the food, but I would be worried about cross contamination. Small little place, servers serve food, help cut and prepare food, serve the food & handle the cash. Nobody was wearing gloves preparing food, as well as washing their hands or even hand sanitizers. Out tots came after we finished our hotdog meal. They need a separate place to scrap the used plates in the garbage. Like someone else said in one review, people that has given this place 4 or 5 stars probably never ate really delicious food. The prices are reasonable, but need better cleanliness and workers need better education on handling food so customers won’t get sick. Place doesn’t take credit cards.

The only problem we ever have is deciding what to eat! Joey has carried on his fathers (the original Jodyand mothers tradition of serving fantastic food at a reasonable price. You can have Joeys Signature Burger; the Chicken Fried Chicken; Fried Fish (my husband enjoys the Chili Cheese Fries); and my personal favorite ..the Chicken Fried Steak with fried okra and a loaded baked potato. If you choose this one be prepared to get a "doggy bag". Not to worry though...If this is too much "Fried" for ya, Ive been known to get a grilled cheese with pickles on the sandwich and of course "fries"! The menu has Chef Salad for lightweights, and there again, youll probably need the server to bring you a container for later because its a Big Salad. Recently, a drive thru window was added (I like this because I can call my order in, and pick it up on the way home). I have even ordered at the window, parked in Joeys new parking lot behind the restaurant and in no time all, one of the employees shows up at MY window with my accurate order, delivered with a smile 😃. Joey and his crew continue to honor the decades of this family owned business known as The Old Jodys! I am getting on up in age, and I have seen restaurants come and go. l believe this one is still very popular because of the great food, its consistency, and the friendly staff.

The food is excellent and so is the atmosphere. Service was a little slow due to the fact it is a busy restaurant, but thats what happens when you have delicious food.

The food was heavenly. Great atmosphere, amazing wait staff. It was a full house when we went, yet the service was still perfect. I cant believe weve never been before. We will be back!

The chicken fried steak was terrible. It was under cooked, soggy, and had no seasoning on it. Fries were soggy as well. The service was very poor. Our server never came by to check on us. I spoke to the manager regarding the food and service and she did not care as well. Very disappointed and will not be going back.

Good food, decent prices, and you get it pretty quickly.My mother and I got the coconut shrimp which was good. My sister got a steak burger which was not so good, hence the 4 star rating instead of 5 star. Most likely would go again if I am in that area again.

Service was slow & how do you mess up a club sandwich? Then they bring me my fries and tell me they accidently spilled gravy on them and say do you want fresh fries and I say well yes please I dont want gravy on my fries, we go around about this 3 times before she says ok fine Ill get you fresh fries. My husbands food royally upset his stomach. This was our 2nd time in this eatery and we probably wont go back after this - the banana pudding was very good, my brother in law got the fried twinkie and it too was good

So many good options on the menu, but the chicken fried steak is hands down my favorite! Great service and home cooked foods that will not disappoint.

Our CFS and creamy gravey were delicious! Baked potatoes with the yummy smoked bacon, cheese and REAL butter for it and the Warm fluffy rolls...So YUMMY!! We couldnt eat another bit so we ordered 2 Peach cobblers to go...lolWE WILL BE RETURNING CUSTOMERS🙂 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It was alright. They made the chef salad with dry grilled chicken, I didnt care for that. My dining companions both had hamburger steak, they liked it. Service was friendly. Solid 3 stars.

Old Jody is a solid burger and steak independently owned restaurant.Service was fine if a bit hurried. The menu has a nice mix of burgers, steaks, even seafood.I was not in a burger mood so I had popcorn shrimp which was fine if not spectacular. I suspect that burgers and steaks might be more their focus.I reserve fives for truly spectacular and enjoyable places. If I lived locally I would probably eat here periodically just for variety.If you were looking for something different than the standard corporate owned restaurants give Old Jodys a try.

First time eating here and we had a lovely lunch. When we walked in it was busy and luckily we found a table, but we noticed that everyone just sits with one another until the tables fill up. I thought that was nice because it makes you feel like you’re one big family. I got the chicken fried steak and my husband got a Jody’s burger. It was delicious, and those rolls are the best I’ve ever had!! I would recommend this place to everyone and we will be back again! Also thank you to the staff for being welcoming and friendly. :)

Old Judy’s Restaurant is a staple in Temple! It feels like the equivalent of a Cheers bar but for food. I can’t believe I hadn’t been before. The servers have been there for a long time and are great ladies. I got the chicken fried chicken which was pretty good. I think I’d get a burger next time because I saw lots of them coming off the grill. Thanks Old Judy’s!!

My salad was 2-3 meals but not just an abundance of food-it was tasty! The grilled chicken is well-seasoned and I loved their ranch dressing. My bf said his burger was good but he could only eat half.

I was told by my fiance, her son and daughter in law that Old Jodys was absolutely amazing. All three of them we severely disappointed in our visit and all of them actually apologized for it being so poor. First, the prices for what you actually get are an ok value. The biggest complaint that we all had was that nothing had any flavor or seasoning. I had the large chicken fried steak $12.99 came with gravy and 1 side, I chose the mac-n-cheese which was bland. I had to actually salt my chicken fried steak twice! I have never had to do that before. The onion rings were unseasoned and needed salt too but they were crispy. Everyones burgers seemed overdone. The Zesta crackers set on the table for an appetizer were even a bit stale. The dinner roll was very good.

I searched around for a good chicken fried steak and many of the reviews said Old Jodys is the place to go...I asked my friend whos lived in the area for 40+ years. He said they dont go there anymore after the kids took over the place. I still wanted to give it a shot. The staff was really friendly, didnt like the fact that I had to go to the ATM but I figured its worth it. Ordered the CFS with mashed potatoes and salad. The CFS was ok, not crunchy at all and needed quite a bit of salt. Where they lost me completely was the fact that they used instant mashed potatoes... Why?!? Mashed potatoes have to be one of the easiest and cheapest sides to make. If I wanted instant I would have just made them at home. I dont like leaving bad reviews but if they cannot take the time to make a simple side like mashed potatoes, people need to know this before pulling their cash out of the ATM just to eat here. Its a shame and Im still looking for the best chicken fried steak in the area.

I have always come to jodys to enjoy the meatloaf, the mashed patatoes, and the banana pudding ! Simply put: this place is good food and cheap price and the employees make me feel welcomed and go out their way to make sure that the best food comes to you and that you really get full. The banana pudding is AWESOME! If you try the pudding; you would go and ask for some to go. Its that damn good! The jukebox has lots of country and rock in it. They must really love George Strait, because his whole catalog is in there! It makes my day just to get a good meal and jam out with George Strait on the jukebox!

Excellent local restaurant! Everything we ordered was wonderful. The fries were natural cut and delicious. Both the chili dog and corn dog were perfect. The fish sandwich and Jody burger were also extremely good. We would highly recommend it and would go back!!

Smokey and smelly inside from burned food. Hamburger was smaller than McDonalds kids burger and burned on the eyes. The bun was burned on the edges. Popcorn shrimp tasted a little off and the fries had a lot of bad spots. On the bright side, we had good service.
