Restored 19th-century jail museum with night tours, 4-m. stone walls & a central courtyard.
Five stars for creepiness (even in the day)! So creepy I didnt even stand around reading the stories. Mannequins were totally freaky, I guess they double up as props for the candle 🕯 light tours.Extra star for the cute grounds keeper... Sorry no photos... Not gonna infect my phone with creepy photos...
The staff at the front desk were super knowledgeable and friendly, there was no question we could ask that they didn’t know the answer to. The Gaol itself was just wow, still in its very original state made it such an authentic experience full of rich history and experiences you struggle to find anywhere else
Great place full of history
Good, must see when you are in Albany, fee is only $5/person
Thoroughly worth the small entrance fee and the added bonus is the lovely lady at the front reception who can tell you all the tales of past prisoners, executioners and even Jack the Ripper.
Interesting and educational, very low entrance fee, artifacts and history explained as you venture around the site

The old gaol is Beautiful display of the old jail the early days of convicts are there for to show the people what it was. Like in time of punishment in old Albany early days of the law
Many things to experience
Its old gaol and its history about it
Great insight to early naughty people conditions. The Black Hole Cell is a must and taking time to look at all the pictures, including the earliest known of Albany taken 1858! Well worth it! Our 11, 8 and 6 year old loved it.
Great for tourists.
