Suites add living areas. Upgraded suites add separate bedrooms and whirlpool tubs.Complimentary amenities consist of secured parking, evening wine-and-cheese receptions, and Southern-style breakfast. There's a rooftop garden with city views, as well as event space, including a ballroom. Access to an adjacent fitness center is available for a fee.
Everything at the Old Capitol Inn is amazing, the food, the rooms, the atmosphere. Everyone Ive spoken with has been so kind and welcoming, the gated parking is wonderful and I have only had to drive about 10 miles away from the hotel to get to where I needed to go, very nice location. We got to stay in the Mississippi Delta room, it was so lovely. Keep being amazing, Old Capitol, well see you again soon! 👋
Rooms are charming, staff is accommodating and polite, food is great and consistent and rooftop experience is very relaxing.
Fantastic find. Restored. Comfortable and Fabulous. Great gastropub two blocks away. Secure parking. Great staff. Good breakfast. This was a wonderful experience. Pricing was also awesome!
This was our first Boutique style hotel, the Big chains can learn alot from Old Capital Inn. Customer Service, room and food all were FIRST RATE, our new staying stop in Jackson.
Our room was dirty and dingy, we actually left and checked in at the Westin a few blocks away. I cant understand how they had such good reviews. The mattress seemed to be as old as the hotel itself. I am still trying to get our money back, my wife was actually in tears about this place!
Honestly the best place to have a wedding in Jackson. The food was amazing!!!! And the staff was so wonderful!! 10/10
This place is kind of a little hidden gem. A rooftop bar area with some great eats and drinks never been disappointed going here. Must check it out the front desk can tell how to get to roof I think its the 3 floor but yea its straight.
Skip to main contentWe have stayed in many boutique hotels in our travels and this one is one of the best!Honestly, if you are traveling through Mississippi this is the hotel to stay in.First of all, we want to give a big shout out to the following team members:Princeton - A great person; he made us feel welcome from the first time we talked to him on the phone. He greeted us upon our arrival and made us feel welcome, almost like he was inviting us into his home. He delivered needed items to our room without hesitation and we saw him around the hotel doing whatever needed to be done with a smile on his face.Christa - Bar Assistant did a great job with serving and checking up on us even under extremely busy conditions. Very accommodating with a smileChristy Lee - Bartender - Very professional and accommodating under very busy conditionsTop notch employees!!!The grounds were beautiful with an interior garden, modern furnishings, large banquet room for gatherings, lovely rooms all with an intimate feel, and great rooftop bar open on Thurs, Fri, Sat with nightly local musicians. The stay included a delicious full breakfast with lovely pastries, biscuits, gravy, fruits, meats and eggs. Wow!!!We want to thank you for making us feel so welcome and will definitely be back when we are in Mississippi.Date of stay: April 2022The rooms facing the garden with balconies are lovely
I stayed for two nights in May 2022. What a great experience. Extremely friendly check in process and the gentleman at the front desk even offered to give me a ride to the train station when I was departing.Very comfortable room and lovely courtyard for breakfast/reading. A one minute walk from the civil rights museum and near downtown makes this an exceptional place to stay for a brief visit to this very interesting city.
Overall the stay was good. Its a nice old building with a pretty courtyard and a perfect location for walking to the historic sites and museums of downtown Jackson. The rooms are spacious, well-decorated, and comfortable. However, the service is somewhat rough around the edges. The good news is that these shortcomings are correctable.First of all, there is no housekeeping unless your request it. This is unacceptable, especially at a hotel that wants to be "boutique" and more on the upscale side. Daily housekeeping should be expected and automatic. I found myself having to call and ask for clean towels then waiting for them to be brought to me.Second, if you are going to ask guests to select a time for their breakfast in the dining room, then you should have their breakfast ready on time. I and other guests had a 7 AM "appointment" yet had to sit there for a good while waiting on the breakfast to be brought in. Fortunately at least there was coffee ready.Third, one of the big selling points of this hotel is the rooftop bar and the views from it. However, the rooftop only accessible Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. One cannot even enter the area at all except on those days. This area was off limits even though the weather was beautiful and I wouldve loved to have just enjoyed the view. Finally, cleanup is needed in the courtyard. There were leaves clogging the fountain, which was pretty otherwise.
Went here recently and it was fantastic! The staff was extremely nice and the room was nice and tidy! Breakfast was also a plus :)Will definitely be choosing here for my stay anytime Im visiting Jackson!
Beautiful, comfortable. Super friendly staff! Near the Capitol, had a tour, beautiful building! Recommend!
I cannot recommend the OCI enough. My husband and I were married here November 2021, and the wonderful staff made the process so easy. I have ZERO complaints from my experience. We had a very large wedding, and the entire weekend was seamless. My brother’s wedding reception was also here in 2018, and it was equally as perfect. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, each with its own unique theme. We were married in the beautiful courtyard that features a koi pond with bridge and multiple fountains. The reception was in the ballroom that has a balcony and large stage. The rooftop bar was perfect for “golden hour” pictures. The rooftop’s view is unbeatable with the Mississippi capitol building in the background. Every single person who worked the front desk was so helpful and kind. There is also nobody who compares to Chef Bruce. If you want something at your event he will make it happen. If you are considering the Old Capitol Inn for your wedding, work event, or just a night in the hotel DO IT. You will not regret it.
The hotel is beautiful (lobby areanice. Our room was nice also amenities were all there, including a towel warmer..that was an extra nice touch
Great establishment. Amazing room and stay. This is a nice “inn” unlike any other one I’ve stayed in. I will definitely visit again if I’m In the area.
First of all when we drove up all I could say was WOW! Decorated for Christmas and was breathtaking. Not to mention just the charm of the whole place. The leaded glass doors welcomed you whether the front or back entrance. Once inside we were greeted by Princeton. He was a prince! He was so kind and helpful. When I told him of my husbands disability he showed us to the ramp and helped me get him to our room. He checked on us later and got some ice for us. He just wanted to make sure we were ok. The next morning I went down for breakfast and it was delicious. All homemade by the sweetest lady who also came and checked on everyone. When it came time to get my husband to the car I was blown away by the staff who just stepped in and helped me get him to the car. I dont know their names but you sensed the love they had for all.i just cant say enough about the help and kindness shown. It was genuine folks. If you go to Jackson you will be missing out if you dont stay at The Old Capital In. And by the way the room was top notch. Beautiful and comfortable. I give it a 10 star rating.Until next time thank you all so very much.
im glad I found this place..Im bad with names but the lady that took my reservation was EXTREMELY polite friendly and made sure everything was correct for my stay! For the first time staying in Jackson Ms. this place was AWESOME!!As soon as I walked in the hotel I automatically felt like I was at home! The staff was super friendly for starters which is huge with me! Loved the mini bar in the lobby area (needs budweiser lol)....BUT I would DEFINITELY check this place out if you are needing a place to stay..its quiet..peaceful..and different from your mainstream hotels..Loved the atmosphere of the room we stayed in..walk in upstairs to a small what seemed to me be like a little work area with a TV and a window to look out of...and down stairs was even better! Tv on thr wall....a BIG comfortable king sized bed with plenty of pillows..walk in shower..and a jacuzzi tub...DONT PASS THIS PLACE UP!! Def will return when I need a place in Jackson to stay!!THANK YOU OLD CAPITOL INN WE WILL BE RETURNING!
Good place downtown to stay. Only 24 rooms. Never to many people in hotel. Each room is different . Good breakfast selection to eat. Not many people. The staff is friendly and helpful. Nice areas to sit and relax.
Let me begin with Miss Jackie who took my reservation. I felt immediately like I was talking to a old friend about staying with her for the weekend. I felt taken care of from that moment on. Her personality jumped through the phone. I knew I had made the right choice. The location is excellent. The service is excellent. The breakfast was beyond superb. The bed ranks up there with my favorite hotels of Europe, and I mean that with all my heart. Next up Miss Asia. A real superstar in her own way. Charm for days. Mindy and Princeton rounds out this cast of stars. I will stay here any day, any time. You can best believe I will be back.
Hotel is old and obviously has some history. Room was advertised with a jacuzzi, which turned out to be just a “jacuzzi “bathtub. Breakfast was good, but I was told that a full buffet was not put out because “there were not enough guests in the hotel.” So does the amount of guests determine how good of service you get. In my room there were electrical outlets that were loose and did not work. Also the batteries were dead in the tv remote. REALLY??!! No attention to detail at any point. Very dissatisfied for $180 a night.
Book this wonderful boutique hotel with confidence. Is a gem - all the positive reviews are spot on! We were passing through 1 night stay . Room was was well appointed, comfy bed, cold air conditioning. Convenient & secure parking., deliciousnice quality breakfast buffet , friendly staff. Princeton was most helpful & polite! He will greet you at the front desk. We would definitely book again.
We love this boutique hotel it was cozy it was comfortable the people were especially nice nice the location is fabulous because you can walk to almost everything. Its truly one of Jacksons hidden charms. If we pass through this way again we will definitely be staying here because it is the epitome of Southern hospitality thank you so much.
We have stayed here before and its always wonderful! But I was going to take a bath and there were 2 sliders in the tub and then at breakfast the next morning I had hair in my fruit!🤮 not a good way to start the day and I was going to speak with someone at the desk but the girl that was there didnt even acknowledge that I was giving her the keys to check out and I tried to speak but she wouldnt even look at me!
We was crossing the town, and we need a place to stay for the night and we found the hotel in Google, called to see if the have a room and right away we had a room,m. Amazing place, beautiful entrance and clean, the front desk staff were friendly. The room was clean and perfectly decorated. That even have a a warmer for the bathroom towels just in case you need it. The hotel had a construction in the garden area but still very clean and organized. In the morning before we check out we went to the dining area and had an amazing breakfast. I definitely recommend this place.
Fantastic little place to stay! They have a roof top bar, and a beautiful garden with plenty of room to sit and a koi pond to enjoy! Amazing time spent at this Inn, highly recommended!
Awesome room with a sitting room upstairs and a large and beautifully furnished bedroom and bathroom with jacuzzi downstairs! Great breakfast with creamed grits and a tasty egg ham medley. Fresh orange juice. Great service! Outstanding location within walking distance of museums, historical landmarks, great restaurants and the convention center. The inn is right across the street from the outstanding Mississippi Civil Rights Museum. Beautiful bricked shaded courtyard with coi pond. Gated parking.Note: not all rooms have jacuzzis.
I recently coordinated two large events at the Old Capitol Inn - a large High School Reunion and my Granddaughters wedding. They were both executed flawlessly from the delicious food to the beautiful setting. I cannot say enough about this wonderful location in the heart of our city! Also, being able to have old friends book all the rooms for the reunion made it like a huge house party and then for the wedding the wedding party and family were all able to experience all the fun for the very special weekend ( and no one had to drive home!Marvelous venue for anything you can imagine!
Hotel was delightful and the staff was outstanding. Asia , at the front desk, was so happy and accommodating. She made all the guests feel special. Truly enjoyed everything about the weekend. My room was comfortable, clean and spacious.
First time being there and it was an awesome experience, I loved it, totally shocked when I first entered the building, not a good feeling but when I got off on the 3rd floor my eyes popped, great atmosphere, great music, I finally found a place to go and relax have a drink and enjoy yourself. I could talk about this place endlessly.
We stayed here while traveling the Natchez Trace about a year and a half ago. Lovely and charming local hotel. Breakfast is outstanding—biscuits with tomato gravy plus everything else home cooked that you can imagine!
The room has 12 ceilings, with fans, beautiful courtyard and the rooftop bar served strong drinks, the 3 stars was because my wife was unhappy with the noise(big wedding partyI personally didnt mind the knoking boots till midnight entertainment next door :)
Slightly overrated. Cute, charming decor. Friendly service. Clean.I know there are people like me that care about COVID, so this review is for you: The receptionist wasn’t wearing a mask, apologized for not wearing one, but didn’t put one on anyway.Getting breakfast same issue. Different guy wasn’t wearing a mask and literally did the same thing. Apologized for not wearing one, but didn’t go and put one on despite having several interactions with him. What’s the point in apologizing if you’re not going to do something about it?There was a friendly woman (owner, maybe?that was wearing one.
The Old Capitol Inn was perfect its a super refined hotel with unique rooms we stayed in the Itta Bena it was beautiful! We will definately stay here again. The rooftop was closed due to hurricane precautions sadly, but still was a good time there is a restaurant walking distant that was super fun named Martins. We went there they had a band and good food! Only downside is rooms do not have mini fridges or microwaves well ours didnt. You can get a mini fridge per request. All the staff was very nice.
Amazed at this hidden gem! I mean the rooms are absolutely amazing and the rooftop bar is to die for at night. The drinks could be stronger (and I’m not a drinkerand that door man they have is a complete vibe killer. Overall, the hotel is very clean and neat the highway for people out of town coming in. It is downtown and a walk away from downtown amenities (if you’ll call them that in Jackson 😬)
This place is absolutely lovely! The decor is tasteful, the staff friendly and helpful, (Thank you Preston, Cindy, and Wes!and my room was cozy and comfortable. Built in the 1950s as a YWCA, it has that "yesteryear" charm that I personally love. Breakfast was served out in the courtyard and everything was delicious. I will definitely plan to stay there again.
We had the most wonderful stay at the Old Capitol Inn! This charming local hotel was the perfect place for us to stay the weekend. Their hospitality was incredible and the breakfast was a great way to start the day. (I was so thankful that the breakfast was still available during COVID times! We enjoyed taking our breakfast in the courtyard before going on morning walks around downtown. This hotel is across the street from the new civil rights museum, and a quick drive to Belhaven and Fondren neighborhoods for swanky dining/things to do.
The staff is super welcoming and the accommodations are amazing. The centralized location is great for anything going on in the Jackson metro and just a 3 min drive to hop on 55 and about a 8 min drive to get to any of the surrounding suburbs. Unlike most Hotels, the high ceilings and individually decorated rooms made it feel more like home for the weekend. The breakfast is amazing, too!
The hotel was swanky...very cute, however the entire reason why I booked this was because of the fantastic reviews I read on the breakfast. When we arrived we were given a piece of paper with a few options for breakfast most consisting of bacon. (I don’t eat bacon). Also when you arrive make sure to ask how to get in the gate, so that u are not waiting around outside trying to figure it out. Also let the water run for a bit it may be a little brown, the towel warmer was a nice touch. And the outdoor patio was wonderful. Last night’s check in guy was helpful and nice. This morning I was bothered by front desk asking for my credit card number, at 7:30am!? Something that could have been taken care of when I checked out. Especially since I had been already charged, and evidently this info only was needed for their nightly audit.
I live in Alabama but I traveled to Jackson to host a meeting in the Magnolia Room at Old Capitol Inn. When we arrived I walked to the front desk and advised the receptionist that I rented the room and would like to set up. The woman told me that she had no record of me reserving the room and she didnt know I was coming. She then began yelling to the back for someone to assist her. She asked the housekeeper to walk me down to the room and it was dirty. There were food containers in the room and sprinkles of salt on the tables as if someone used the room and no one cleaned it. The housekeeper was nice and she brought me a bucket of ice for our drinks. In the middle of my meeting a woman opened the door and came in to speak to me. She was a part of a bridal party and told me that she was told she could use the Magnolia Room. I advised her that I paid to have the room from 1 pm until 3 pm and she encouraged me to take my time in the room as if she was doing me a favor. The hotel is beautiful but the service was ATROCIOUS with the exception of the housekeeper. I paid over $400 for two hours in the room and it was a nightmare compared to having paid $60 to use a conference room in Alabama and receiving top notch customer service in a stunning facility. I was thoroughly disappointed!
Stayed at the Old Capitol Inn for 6 days and 5 nights. Hotel grounds are nice. The room was okay. Breakfast was good and the chef always had a great attitude. Housekeeping never made our bed or cleaned the floors while we were there. We were told checkout was at 11:00 AM. Had the do not disturb tag on the door and housekeeping was trying to enter the room at 9:00 AM. She said her sheet already showed we had checked out.
We stayed here while visiting Jackson and going to the pickle fest. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and well kept. They do have a roof top bar and music at night. The room was clean and neat . The desk also checked us in a little early. The things that were not so good. They had construction going on in the lobby. The shower faucet in our room was broken and we had to rig it to work.As room was not stocked with enough towels.Even with those it was a nice stay and the garden was nice also. If your not from around Jackson Mississippi then be warned dont drink the city water . Buy bottled water its a lot better.
There was a variety of items on the menu. All the food ordered by my group was very tasty. You receive a basket of dip and flat bread which was very tasty upon being seated and placing your drink order. The bathroom was immaculate and updated. I subtracted a star because it is a little pricey for lunch.
Service was great. Lots of food. Tried a little too hard. I would like it better if they didnt try so hard to make food fancy and stick to making it taste more like home cooking. I didnt have to cook or clean up. So that was a plus. The outdoor bar and live music was good since the weather was perfect.
This is one of my favorite lunch destinations! The menu is varied with a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, delicious crab dishes and shrimp n grits. The service is excellent, the food is always hot and freshly prepared and usually quick. I highly recommend it!
Even if youre not a guest, you should come by for lunch, its wonderful!I havent had the chance to stay here yet, but will try to on my next trip to Jackson. The place is lovely. We came for lunch and both the regular food on their menu as well as the daily specials were delicious.I had the fried chicken breast (a regular featurewhich had a crisp skin and was moist and delicious. Others had the Thursday special, seafood lasagna and they really liked it.Service was quick and our iced-tea never got empty. The waitress was very nice.
Incredible little hotel. Each room has its unique features and each one is lovely. There is a rooftop bar with live music and you can easily walk to museums and restaurants. Best of all, the staff is incredibly friendly and goes out of their way to help.
This is a hotel/bed and breakfast. It also has ball rooms used for events and a beautiful rooftop bar and grill that is in full swing twice a year three days a week in spring and fall. It is very private and tucked away amongst the roofline helping it to remain very anonymously quaint and generally peaceful. Only frequented by the few locals who know about it and hotel guests. Along with a bevy of alcoholic beverages they also offer great appetizers. The customer service is great and the prices are reasonable. Definitely check them out.
Very quaint hotel near downtown Jackson. Very friendly service from everyone we encountered. Breakfast is hot, fresh, and worth waking up for. Rooms are beautiful, but the pillows need to be updated. Be aware that there are no fridges in the room, and you have to ask for ice in the kitchen. Overall, nice experience. Definitely check out the rooftop bar and the courtyard.
I was in a room just below the rooftop bar. This was a little loud until the Thursday night free music came to an end. The room was small but well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The room had a door that opened out onto a tiny balcony overlooking the patio. The breakfast buffet was delicious and included warm and cold items, eggs, danishes, grits, gravy, etc. The only complaint I had was that there was no warm water initially when I arose the next morning. I called the front desk and when no one answered I simply went down for breakfast prior to showering. When I talked with the desk clerk, he explained hed had one other report of no water and had been to every floor checking empty rooms to confirm the hot water was working. Hed found no issues. While at breakfast he came to me and told me hed found the problem and there should be hot water in my room within 5 minutes. He was right and all was well. I appreciated the kind, considerate, helpful staff I meet at every turn of my stay.
The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was very nice. I really enjoyed the way they presented the food.Restrooms were nice and clean. Its an older building so it has some wear and tear, but it also has charm. I really liked the balcony that ran along the sides.
